They come back inside. >> Yeah. >> Stand up. Are you hurt? >> GET UP. GET UP. THE SUSPECT WAS HOLDING THE WOMAN a hostage while hiding in her house. Maybe. >> What's your name? >> I'm scared to death. >> Police quickly arrived and surrounded the front of the caller's house while the suspect attempted to hide in a shed in the backyard. The homeowner exited the residence and the suspect rushed back into the house shortly after. What followed were several hours of grueling negotiation. Despite their best attempts, the suspect showed no signs of cooperation. Finally, a SWAT team entered the garage where the suspect was hiding. OUT. >> The suspect initiated an ambush attack resulting in a shootout that cost the suspect's life. The entire incident lasted for about 8 and 1/2 hours and the suspect was later identified as 34year-old Anthony Wade. In the next case, cops bust an abusive partner who trapped his wife in a room with him for days. Come on, dude. [Music] >> Please help me. >> On April 27th, 2023, officers responded to an anonymous tip that reported hearing a woman begging for her life while being severely assaulted inside a hotel room. [Music] the police. The cops attempted to make contact with the people in the hotel room, but nobody answered the door. Moments later, they heard some alarming sounds that compelled them to take immediate action. Open the door. [Music] >> Hey, we're kicking the door. [Music] Door. No. After the cops kicked the door in, the man inside still tried to block their entry. He would come to regret this decision. >> But I told you if you DON'T GET AWAY FROM THE door on the ground. The officers tased the man several times until he finally dropped to the ground, after which they arrested him. During this entire time, a woman was curled up in a corner, terrified for her life. >> Time every time. You okay? >> We got the fire department coming check. >> Okay. Hey, you [ __ ] broke my dude. Hey, >> female supervisor following. >> GET OVER HERE. >> WATCH YOUR HAND. >> The room was already in total disarray with the furniture overturned before the cops broke in, suggesting that the woman was most likely a victim of extreme violence by the man. During her interview, she shared a horrifying account of what she had experienced over the last couple days. >> Can you tell what happened? >> It just I don't know what he's smoking, but >> was some kind of >> Uhhuh. It's the second night on our so >> it sounded like you said help us. He's trying to Is that what you said? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Cuz he was throwing me like a police around us. Okay. Just wanted to make sure that >> Yes. >> Well, I'm I'm afraid for my life >> and I try to knock in a door to the neighbors so they maybe call cops for me cuz he took my phone on me but he said I'm sitting on him but I was at work. I run my own business. >> Okay. >> The woman's account and injuries were undeniable evidence of the suspect's crimes. He was charged with false imprisonment, aggravated assault by strangulation, and resisting arrest. Next up, a responsible witness helped cops catch a kidnapper and save a young child. >> Keep walking back. Keep walking back. >> Keep walking back. Keep walking back. >> Hello. >> It's okay. Come here. Come here. It's okay. On July 3rd, 2021, a civilian approached police to report that they had seen a man grab a little girl on the road and drive her away in his car. Stay right there. >> Keep your hands in the air. >> Turn around. >> The suspect was unexpectedly cooperative and swiftly put in handcuffs. The biggest concern on everyone's mind though was the safety of the kidnapped child. >> Hello. >> It's okay. >> Come here. Come here. >> It's okay. >> Are you okay? >> Huh? >> Do you have any injuries? >> No. >> Okay. >> Picked you up. >> You don't know him? >> Me? He just said he's going to give me >> Okay. Can anybody adise any >> Are you hurt? >> He didn't do anything. >> He said he was going to show you a puppy. >> Yeah, he's my mom's friend. I think he said he knows my mom. >> You say he knows your mom? >> He's always EMF. The six-year-old girl described a textbook example of kidnapping with the perpetrator pretending to be a trusted adult and luring her with a prize. After she was returned safely to her family, the cops turned their attention to the kidnapper. Turned out to be a very odd suspect. >> What's your name? Austin Robbie. >> Robbie. All right, Robbie. You don't want to get you in trouble. Do you stick me nothing crazy? in our van. >> All right. Can we just go? I don't want to kill myself. I need help. Please, can we just go? >> Oh, right now we're standing right here. Okay. So, we can figure out what's going on. Please, I don't want to live nowhere. I just want to die. Please, just give me some help. Get your daughter back. I didn't do anything. Bringing her back is still so bad. Stupid. It was a spur of the moment. Stupid thing. You can't believe anything like this. >> It was hard to believe that anyone would abduct a child out of impulse or due to their depression. The suspect, Robbie, was brought in for questioning to determine his true motive. >> Didn't hurt anybody. I just need some help. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't hurt nobody. >> What do you think she thought was going on? >> I don't know. She spooked. She scared me because she was crying and I felt bad. And then I immediately it wasn't a second, you know, a minute or two before I got back and frank. No, it wasn't it didn't take long to have compassion. I've never heard anybody. I don't know why I do stuff like that. >> It's like a dog chasing a car. You just you don't know what he's going to do with it. I use that example, but it's pretty wellnown, but something like that. I guess >> Robbie stuck to the narrative that his actions were a result of his mental illnesses. even treating the interrogation as if it were a therapy session at times. >> This is what I do with my head all the time. I mean, just trying to figure things out. I write I journal. I start talking to my mom, but I feel like I get a lot of real negative around her a lot. So, I try to calm that down and I don't want to get too real and biblical and, you know, just depressed and hate thoughts. I really try to calm down and just remember she's old now. It's this kind of therapy for both of us. At least now I get a break from the smoking and cigarette, which I had no self-control over. Just >> Robbie never admitted that what he did was child abduction, but the trauma he caused the girl was permanent. Regardless of his intentions, ultimately he was found guilty of kidnapping a minor and sentenced to 13 years in prison. In the next case, cops got blindsided by a surprise encounter with a kidnapper. >> Put your hands up. TURN THE COVER OVER. >> On October 27th, 2024, officers from the Indianapolis Police Department responded to a call about theft. While interviewing a witness, they were suddenly interrupted by a shocking development. Move, MOVE, MOVE, MOVE, MOVE. >> An SUV abruptly stopped in front of the cops. And when they went to investigate, what they saw inside immediately sent them running. >> How did it come up? >> It was >> I don't I don't recording. [Music] >> Put your hands up. Put your hand. >> Once the cops got closer, they spotted a man inside pointing a gun at them. A potentially lethal situation. It was critical for the officers to ensure that no innocent lives were lost. Put your hands up. Put your hands up. >> Put your hands up. >> The suspect appeared to have his hands on the trigger, signaling his intention to open fire. This prompted the cop closest to the vehicle to make the snap decision to shoot him twice. Later investigation revealed that the perpetrator, identified as 25-year-old Julius Hill, carjacked the SUV by holding its female driver at gunpoint. However, the woman remembered seeing police officers in the neighborhood earlier and drove the vehicle to them where she safely fled before the shots were fired. He was charged with kidnapping, robbery, and pointing a firearm, but died two weeks later as a result of the gunshot wounds. In the next case, a man who was on the run after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend was caught red-handed. You're >> all right. >> Thank you. >> Okay. >> Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. >> On August 23rd, 2022, Houston police officers were on the lookout for a 52-year-old man who had kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and was attempting to flee by car. Unknown to him, the cops had zeroed in on the vehicle when they took a break at a gas station. >> Hey Chief, it's Marco. We have a couple SWAT SUVs. I don't think we need to let that car and get back on the road. >> A SWAT team had surrounded the gas station before the vehicle could leave, allowing the cops to confront the suspect. The following moments unfolded rapidly and horrifically. [Music] SUMMER, you got He's still moving. He's still moving, man. GET OUT THE CAR. GET OUT THE COVER. >> Upon being cornered by police cars, the suspect reached for his firearm, prompting four officers to open fire. Meanwhile, the victim bravely escaped from danger amid gunfire. Come here. Come here. Come here. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. You okay? You okay? You're all right. >> You okay? >> Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. >> You okay? You're okay. You all right? You all right? You okay? Following the shootout, there was no retaliation from the suspect and upon checking on him, the cops found that he was shot multiple times in the chest and was unresponsive. Soon after, he was pronounced dead at the scene. In the next case, a drugged up man held two people hostage with a knife during a manic episode. On May 1st, 2023 in Denver, Colorado, cops showed up at a residence where a domestic disturbance was reported. >> Come over here and talk to me. >> Hey. Okay. I'm just I just >> I know. Is anybody hurt? >> I don't know. I have no idea. I just got home. >> What's going on with the knife? >> Okay. He got a knife. He just I don't know if you were here a couple weeks ago, a month ago. He stabbed himself in the neck. >> Frankie did? >> Yes. He got a knife in his hand. >> Okay. The officers were met outside by a woman who told them that her nephew, 55-year-old Frankie Lee Evans, who was high on cocaine and had the tendency to selfharm, was holding two people hostage inside the house with a knife. >> Frankie, >> never. >> Where's he at? Are you okay? >> 43. David, we got one packed hostage. uh co 10 cover stagger bus one black male gray shirt holding hostages slam the door >> once the officers entered the residence Frankie locked himself with the hostages in one of the rooms and refused to come out the cops hoped to deescalate the situation keeping in mind that the suspect was likely mentally unstable they brought in a mental health clinician who negotiated with him for an hour but ultimately failed the situation would suddenly escalate, forcing the cops to take action. >> 9:31. >> One of the hostages had tried to disarm Frankie, resulting in a fight that prompted the cops to break the door in. Inside, they found Frankie holding the hostage in a headlock and pointing the knife at him. In that moment, the cops determined Frankie was a lethal threat and there could be no more negotiation. Okay. >> Frankie was shot four times and was declared dead at the scene. Up next, cops rescued a woman being held against her will for hours inside a filthy hotel room. >> Open the door. >> Open the door. >> Open the door. >> Open the door. On June 19th, 2022, 911 received an ominous call in which a scared woman was heard asking for help before disconnecting the call. This prompted dispatch to track the phone that had made the call. And shortly after, police officers arrived at the hotel from where the call appeared to be made. >> Open the door. >> Open the door. >> Open the door. Get out, man. >> Open the door. Come here. Instead of following the cop's orders to open the door, the man inside kicked a scared woman out and slammed the door shut again. >> OPEN THE DOOR AND COME OUT NOW. NOW. NOW. NOW. WALK out with your hands up. >> Walk out with your hands up. Come to me. >> Hey, look. >> Listen, bro. >> Come here. >> I don't entertaining you for 18 years. Shut the door. >> Hey, I'm with the shot going, bro. >> Okay, we'll figure it out, man. >> Hey, man. Hey, bro. Hey. Hey, bro. Hey. >> The man faint ignorance the entire time while being arrested, claiming that he did nothing wrong. However, the woman who fled the room had a harrowing story that suggested otherwise. >> What happened to your eye right now? >> This man slapped me. He slapped me. >> He He seen me and he brought me here. I didn't know he was a creep like that. So basically, if you could contact my mother. >> The woman had a black eye and was so shaken up that she couldn't speak clearly, indicating that whatever she had gone through was traumatizing. >> Talk about sexual demons and it was very forceful cuz I was like, I'm just going to call my mom like can I see a phone? Can I walk to the store? Can I leave? like, "What? Do I have money to go?" Like, "What do you want? Can we sleep?" He's like, "Shut up. You're not going nowhere." >> The victim claimed that she was walking outside the hotel when she met the suspect, who took her to his room for sexual favors. Although she initially agreed, she changed her mind and wished to leave, but the suspect threatened her with a knife and refused to let her go. The incident had clearly taken a heavy toll on her. Meanwhile, the suspect who was trying to avoid arrest requested to be taken to a hospital. >> Yeah, y'all recorded that. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah, we got it. >> At the hospital, the suspect made a lastditch effort to appear mentally unfit to get his charges dropped, but it did not work. He was charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault. In the next case, a father held his daughter hostage during a manic episode to avoid being arrested. >> Put the knife down. >> No, he's got it. He's got her. >> He's got her. Shoot. >> I don't got it. >> On December 5th, 2024 in Tampa, Florida, 47year-old Jason Douglas Paul called 911 to report that his neighbor had assaulted him. Once the officers arrived, Paul was there waiting for them. >> I would have killed him on self-defense if I would have got him. >> Paul, relax. >> Yeah. Well, you tell him that cuz if I would have got a hold of him, I would have snapped his neck and he would have been dead. >> Despite the cop's attempts to diffuse the situation, Paul continued to make death threats to his neighbor. Observing his erratic behavior, the officers decided to detain him under the Baker Act, which allows involuntary detention and examination of individuals who are deemed to be a threat to themselves or others. However, things did not go according to plan. >> Relax. Hey, man. Just calm down. Okay, >> Jason. >> It's okay. >> Put the Put the knife down. >> No, he's got it. He's got it. He's got it. Shoot. Put the knife down right now. >> PUT IT DOWN. >> GOOD SHOT. Knight down right now. >> Put it DOWN RIGHT NOW. >> PUT IT DOWN. >> YOU'RE GOOD. [Music] Paul resorted to grabbing his daughter and holding her hostage with a knife to resist his detention. After ignoring several orders to drop the knife, an officer shot Paul dead to save the innocent girl's life. Paul had a criminal history which included aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer without violence, and a DUI. In the final case, police found a paralyzed woman stuffed inside a box in a kidnapper's house. >> Police. >> Where you at? >> There's a number. >> Do you need help? >> All right. On May 2nd in Cleveland, Ohio, cops arrived at 31-year-old Dante Edmund Guyger's house to investigate a tip about a woman being tied up and held hostage in his basement. Dante, however, was not happy with their visit. >> I'm just knocking on your door. >> I was standing up. >> What? >> What does that mean? Yeah. Come up. >> All right. Come on up. >> How you doing, sir? >> Okay. >> My name is Officer Robas. That's officer. Just so you know, everything's recorded. >> Yes. >> Turn those cameras off, please. >> Well, what's what's going on? >> Turn the cameras off. >> You have to give me a reason and I can't. [Music] I work for you guys. Okay. Long story short, I work for you guys. At least get out. Dante claimed he was a confidential informant from the police and was highly concerned that his cover would be blown if the cops were spotted around his place. >> What's going on is you guys have a crackhead possible. >> All right. >> Okay. >> Well, that's an answer. >> That's it. >> Well, then we still have to follow up on it. >> There's nothing going on, sir. >> Do you understand our point? >> I understand your point. >> If we just walk away and somebody actually is there, what are we going to do? >> Well, that's what you guys are going to have to do because I'm not letting you inside. You see where Do you see where the problem lies? >> No, there is no problem. >> We don't just write. He said it's cool and we leave. >> Well, that's that's how >> No, that's not. >> The man kept stalling the cops from entering the house for over 30 minutes, which raised suspicion. He only allowed them inside after they agreed not to video record anything. In the end, the search for the tiedup woman came up empty, but the cops couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Go cross. >> Okay. >> Later that night, another informant approached one of the officers to share a horrifying story. He has a girlfriend named who's a black girl and they tied her up, stabbed her, ate her, he killed her. Show me pictures. They made he made a life thousand times. I am a rat. I am a snitch. I am a rat. I am a snitch. And where he murdered her dad, he ripped up for the fire pieces. He ripped up all the tile right there. Told me I have it. I have a choice. According to this informant, Delante suspected that a woman was going to spread word around the area that he was a confidential informant. In retaliation, he abducted, restrained, and assaulted her. He then took pictures of her dead body and showed them to the informant, warning that he would do the same to her if she exposed him. This information was highly alarming and prompted the cops to take the matter more seriously. Do they know what I told you about, though? Listen, we're here to look to see for a body. That's it. Um, you give us consent to make sure there's no one laying dead in here. >> This is my uncle. >> As the officers searched the house, a faint haunting voice soon caught their attention. >> What's that noise I keep hearing? I hear something. >> Where you at? >> She's under. There's a thing under >> Do you need help? >> All right. >> Clean, please. >> Sam24, can you get us another car over here? >> Police followed the voice and determined that it was coming from beneath the front porch. What they found there was something out of a nightmare. >> Oh my gosh. >> All right. >> How old are you? >> 60. >> Six-year-old female. Step up. EMS. >> Are you injured besides that? >> I'm paralyzed. >> You're paralyzed. I'm >> paralyzed. >> What's your name? >> EMS is EMS is in route. Are you cold? >> I hurt. >> You hurt? All right. We want to get you out of there, but I'm afraid to move you. I'm going to let EMS do all that. Okay. >> What did he do to you? >> He picked me. >> He did what? fire at least get her upright. >> Where are you stabbed, you think? >> Your arm. All right. Did he sexually assault you at all? >> Okay. Do you know how long you've been here? >> No. >> The woman who was believed to be dead was discovered alive, but in a condition arguably worse than death. She had been stuffed in a 3x3 ft storage box by the suspect in an attempt to hide her from the police. Her back and spine were broken and she was left paralyzed as a result of the torture. Dante was arrested and found guilty for felonious assault, kidnapping, tampering with evidence, and having weapons under disability. He was sentenced to 16 to 20 years in prison. [Music]
