Officers were called to a home over what seemed like a small domestic dispute. But what started with a missing set of car keys soon escalated into something much bigger. >> Can you step out for a second? >> Hey, what's going on? We got a call. >> So, my mom is like just freaking out. >> Okay. I've had a lot of problems with her, but I'm like So, basically, she took my car key and is just like, "Oh, I don't know where it went, but I know she took it and she's just pretending like she doesn't know where it is." >> Okay. And your Who else? Who else is in the house with you right now? >> Just my mom. >> Your mom's here in the house right now. Where is she at? >> Upstairs. But it's just that she like So, I had to take an Uber to work today because she took my car key last night and is just not telling me where it is. was like laughing at me when I was looking for it for like 6 hours. >> She insisted her mother had taken her keys on purpose, but denied that anything had turned physical. >> Step down here for a second. Just talk to my partner. I want to talk to your mom. >> Sure. I mean, I can go get her. >> It's my mom. >> Just come down here and talk with Just >> No, I can just go get my mom cuz I don't want you to go in my house. >> Well, I got to talk to your mom, so I'm going to have to go inside. I'm sorry. We just we just got we just got here for sure in the bathroom. >> We just got told she was locked in the bathroom. >> That's crazy. >> She's the one that called ahead. >> She's the one that called us. >> Stupid. She's alive. >> She's locked in the bathroom. >> She I just can't believe she would say that. That's where is your mom at? Where's her mom? >> Upstairs. You can go upstairs then. >> What's her name? Sarah, it's Officer Gar Police. >> Stand at the bottom of the stairs. Don't go anywhere else. >> Is your brother home or No, >> I don't know. >> She's right. She's up that way. This I know. By the way, >> please. >> So, I I know you were talking to my partner. So, what what was going on? So, what's going on today? >> So, I haven't seen my car keys since 5:00 p.m. yesterday. and I walked away in one room and I walked back into it and they were gone and she was the only one there. So, I know for sure that she has them because she has like hidden my work clothes before and like she's just done a lot of stuff to me and she I had to take a Uber to work today and she keeps trying to tell me that I must have lost my keys or that I'm crazy and she keeps my but it's really that she like I don't know what she did with my car keys but >> did you were you able to find your car keys? Um, I just can't believe that she would call the police saying that like she's locked in a room and the only way to lock that door is. >> But when another officer spoke with her mother, a very different story began to unfold. >> Like I could just leave right now, but I'm just looking for my key. But as soon as I have my key, then I would like to get out of here cuz I didn't like >> I really was not trying to stay here, but I didn't expect her to like eventually >> take my key. We can try to help with that. Your mom obviously has concerns for you >> about >> just more mental health. >> Mental health or anything. I have concerns about her mental health. >> Okay. >> I'm not trying to be sassy, but just >> Yeah. So, let me just ask you real quick. Do you have any thoughts of or anything like that today? >> No. >> You want to harm herself at all? >> No. And that's sad that she's even saying that. Is she What is she even making up about me? So, she's saying that you again your story about you asking for the keys, saying that she didn't have the keys. She doesn't know where they're at. And then she says that you you shoved her. >> No. >> While upstairs, >> she like ran into me and then I was trying to like just stay in place. So, that's not like shoving like she was like running into me >> as trying to like leave >> like No, just like in the room like running into me. >> How could she run into you in her room? >> She wasn't in her room. She was in the hallway. >> In the hallway. >> Yeah. Trying to leave. >> Trying to >> Okay. But she was she could have left if she wanted to. But I don't know what you're saying. >> But what I'm saying is that she took like the re I I've never misplaced my key like this before. She was laughing at me with glee like, "Ha, you can't find the key. I hope you have fun trying to get to work today while I start the first day of my new job." She really just is a faker. And why would I even fabricate this? This is just a waste of my own time to what? Pretend like I don't know where my key is. Like I really don't know where my key is. >> So, okay. >> Because like I really think that she like took did something with it. >> Understand that. However, >> push and shoving is still not push and shove. >> She's saying that you pushed her and she said >> she pushed and shoved me too if you would call it that. >> But I really don't. Excuse me. Wait, wait. Help. Excuse me. Can I I'm in my own house. >> What are you trying to do, though? Wait, hold up. Hold up. >> I'm not walking away. Please let me I'm literally talking to you. >> I'm literally talking to No, I'm asking you. What are you doing? >> I'm sorry. >> So, the fire department, they just want to talk to you real quick. >> Just ask you a couple questions. >> The mom is upstairs. >> She's the one that was requesting this. You want me to go talk to her? >> Y >> this is >> Aiden. You're good here for a second. >> They just want to talk to you. >> Okay. >> Just talk to them. >> We're not so irritating. >> We're not forcing you to do go anywhere. >> She's just I'm sorry. >> I didn't mean for order. >> Order. Okay. >> Do me a favor. Just have a seat for me real quick. Okay. >> See, this is so embarrassing for me. Like I'm trying to get the out of here and then she just like takes my car key. >> Okay. Well, we'll get to the bottom of everything and we'll go from there. Okay. Sh. Do you take any medications? >> With all due respect, I'm the medical professional in this room. So, I think it is relevant. >> You can follow me if you want. >> I'd like you to sit down here, please. We don't care where you sit, but don't stand. >> I'd like you to sit, please. >> We just came here for a domestic incident. >> There was not a domestic inc. >> So that there's a reason why I'm keeping the two of you guys separated, right? >> I'm sorry. The reason that I'm upset is because I feel like she's trying to fabricate something against me that I was violent when I was not. She Do you know how many times that she slapped me in the face that like I'm not gonna like this is just crazy to me that she's trying to say that I physically did something to her when she is physically violent to me nearly every day and didn't I went to the Grace Lake Police Department because I was trying to file a restraining order. I just got nervous about it and then I thought where the am I going to go? >> Do you know what I'm saying? But I just need my car key because I can just be in my car. But I'm good. I just got to get out of here. And she is just like she's just telling a bunch of lies because she you can say that whatever you want to say, but God knows the truth. And she was laughing in my face saying, "I hope you have fun trying to find the car key." And I'm not making that up. >> Well, Shay, what medications do you take? >> Why is it Why are you asking though? Because >> I do take a medication, but it doesn't have anything to do with what is happening right now. >> That's fine. What is it? >> Are you Why don't you ask my mom? >> Because >> Because my mom I know, but you should really Do you do you care to know that? Like I don't think you know what's going on with my mom. >> Well, right now we're here to assess you. They're just getting a story from us. >> Really? I think that you should assess my mom, though, because >> Well, right now, >> you know that she claims to be schizophrenic. I really appreciate if you just answer my questions instead of talking around them. >> Sure. >> What medications do you take? >> I feel like I have the right to privacy. >> Okay. >> I don't want to speak. >> How many What allergies do you have? Medications any? >> No. >> Do you have any uh diagnosises I need to know about? >> I don't want to talk about this. >> She wouldn't give medical history, wouldn't answer questions, and grew more agitated by the minute. You think that I'm mentally unstable? Can you tell me that >> based on the story of your mother? >> Based really >> based on the story of my mother. >> Can I tell you that she's also an alcoholic? >> She's going to be the politician. >> Do you not care that she like slaps me in the face? >> This is a major injustice >> because I'm afraid of her. >> Well, you weren't so afraid to lock her in the bathroom. >> Lock her in the bath? I didn't How would I lock her in the bathroom? How would I lock her in the bathroom? That's not possible because only it can only be locked from the inside of the bathroom. >> She locked herself in the bathroom cuz she was scared of you. >> You just said that I locked her in the bathroom. That doesn't make sense. You said I locked her in the bathroom and >> because I didn't lock her in the bathroom and I wasn't violent with her. Please stop telling me that I was violent when she basically abuses me very often. You guys really don't care about that, do you? I was not violent with her. I'm not going anywhere because I didn't hurt her. I didn't put No. >> And I'd like you to come on your own valition otherwise we will >> Do you know how many times she's punched me >> and slapped me? >> Her mother signed an involuntary petition and officers asked her to walk out to the ambulance voluntarily. She refused. >> Your mom's going to sign a petition to have you evaluated. I'd like you to come without any force, but we are going to the hospital. Can we get you some shoes to put on so we can walk to the ambulance, please? >> I would not I do not consent to this. >> That it's beyond that. It's beyond consent. Okay. >> You're being taken to the hospital. And again, I'd like to not have to force this situation. >> So, I'm asking you, can we get you some shoes to put on? >> Seriously, man. >> Come on. We don't We don't want to have to grab you. Come on. >> I don't want to grab you. >> Just Just walk. You're going the wrong way. >> Just walk with us. >> God, I'm good. Sh. You're going to force us to have to actually grab you and take you. And we don't want to do that. >> I'd like you to come with us. >> Why are you doing this? >> I'm not a Please get away from me. Please. >> You don't need to do this. >> Okay. >> I'm going to show this to the whole world what you're doing right now. You're welcome to do that. Please don't. >> We got to go. >> Stop grabbing me. >> Stop. >> Stop. Please. Stop. Please stop. Please stop. >> Jay, we're going. The petition is signed. Let's go. >> We don't want to touch you. >> So, come with us willingly and then we can do this. >> Stand up. Stand up. You're willing to You're able to stand up. >> Okay. We We tried to go the easy route and get you to go willing. >> The easy route. No easy route. She stole my key. I don't All I want is No. No. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I won't say that. Okay. I won't say. >> Why are you >> I'm sorry. >> You're hurting me. >> I'm sorry. I'm I'm trying to stop >> because I won't Whatever is Why is >> Please stop touching me. Please stop touching me. You're kicking me. I'm not. Stop. Your feet are touching my leg. Stop touching me. Please stand up. No. Stop touching me. Stop touching me. Please stand up. >> Stop touching me, man. Stop. >> Stand up. Please. You >> got her legs. Yeah. [Music] >> Okay. Watch your head. >> Shake. Stop your head. >> Stop. Stop, >> man. Please. >> Stop. Stop. >> Just stop. >> Stop. Just walk out. >> No. Please leave me in my old house. >> No, that's not going to happen. Stop. >> Why are you doing this to me? You're coming into my house and what the man. Stop. You're going >> What the [ __ ] No. Stop. I'm not. Please stop. Stop. I I'll walk. Please. >> No. We're past that this one. >> Come on. You're going to get hurt. >> Stop. >> You're going to get hurt or somebody else is going to get hurt. Stop it. >> Why would you do that? >> I can't I can stay that way. Don't hurt me. going to happen. >> We are trying not to hurt you, but you are fighting everything we're doing. >> Shut up. Put my >> Just don't go out on Let's go, >> man. Stop hurting my arms. Please >> stop fighting with us. >> I'm not. >> You are. >> You are fighting with us. >> Come down the stairs. >> You're pushing me. >> I'm not pushing you. >> Stop. >> I'm holding you so that you don't fall. >> I'm not going to fall. What is wrong with you all? >> Sit back. >> Have you sit right here? Okay. >> I'm fine. Seriously. Just do what you need to do. >> This is crazy. >> We need your feet straight. Okay. >> This is stupid. >> Whatever. This is a lie. >> That one. There we go. >> All the way. >> Whatever. Do it >> all the way. There you need to put seat belts on you. Okay. >> Eventually, she was restrained on a gurnie and transported safely to the hospital. This marked the fifth domestic call officers had responded to at the same residence. Just hours later, after being released from the hospital, she returned home demanding her phone and keys, but officers were waiting. This time, she was placed under arrest for aggravated battery to a peace officer. But the question is, when someone lashes out in moments like these, is it a crime that deserves prison time or a cry for help that needs treatment instead?
