On April 6th, 2025, a family at a public boat ramp parking lot in Hollywood, Florida decided that one of them would stand in a parking space to hold it for a car that was not there. The deputy explained this was not going to work. They asked where the sign was. This is proof on record. >> Yeah, you guys can't be blocking the spots like that. All right, you got to go. Cuz you're standing in the road, dude. Get out of the road, lady. You need to calm down first off. First off, you can't be standing in the road, and you can't be blocking parking. >> Well, he hit me with his car. >> First off, you can't be standing in the road and blocking parking spots. That's why you probably got bumped, right? Because you're standing in the road, right? >> You're standing in the road. Yes, come on, man. >> Is it legal to hit somebody with their car? >> You're standing in the road, right? >> Oh, so you're saying now it's legal? >> Are you hurt? You need You need rescue? >> Excuse me. >> Excuse me. You need rescue? Sir, do you need rescue? Okay, goodbye. All right, this is for trailers. You can't just block parking spaces, though. That's not how this works, so you can't just You can't just block parking spaces. The The road was blocked, so he wouldn't >> still blocked because of this right now. >> No, they were blocking it, so how are we going to park? >> You can't You can't come over here and reserve spots, so I'm You can't come over here and reserve spots. It's not reserved. >> We're standing in it. >> We were here already. >> It's right there. The car is right there. We had to go around since you couldn't resolve the the road blocked here. That's not on That's on you. That's not our problem. You had to resolve the the road block, right? I don't have to move out of the way. Where's the sign? >> The Where is the sign that said that we can uh >> Where is the sign? Where is the sign? >> Excuse me. Where is the sign that said >> Don't touch my mouth. Don't touch my mouth. First off, don't touch my mouth. >> Excuse me. Excuse me. Where is the sign? Where is the sign that said that I can reserve >> Stop. Go over there. Just go over there. >> Why is he park Why are you parking in our spot? >> You can't reserve spots. >> Well, which one? >> sign that says >> Where is the sign that says that we can >> There's no sign that says that. >> Where is the sign that said that that we can reserve >> You can't do that. >> Where is the sign? >> We're in the parking space. >> Where is the sign that said that? >> We're in the parking space. >> Where is the sign that said that? >> Now you just want to stand here and >> No, I reserved the spot and I paid already. >> Okay, that's a civil issue you can take up with the city. >> Where is the sign that said that? >> need to be a sign. >> Why? >> Because there doesn't need to be a parking. >> Okay. There's no other Since everybody wants this spot and we were trying to get here, where do we park cuz we already paid? Where do we go? We already paid. Where do we go? >> Listen what I'm saying so I can tell you. You go to Holland Park. >> We can't move our boat out. Our boat is there in the water already. We were trying to get here. >> Someone can drive the boat over to Holland Park when you guys are going to ramp up. >> Why? Because they want to park here because we paid and we told them No, they didn't. We did. >> Obviously he's here first. The road was blocked. We couldn't park because it was blocked. But you can't come over into the parking lot and reserve spots. There's no sign that says that. >> Where is the sign that said that? >> You don't need a sign to say that. >> Why? >> You're blocking the roadway. Now it's a ticket. >> It's not a roadway. It's a parking space. So because this guy hit him, then nobody cares about that, right? Nobody cares. >> I was standing there. He hit me with with man. >> You see the video? >> I don't even know if it recorded. I was so damn nervous. He hit him. Okay, so the floor >> take a video? So right now I don't have she said, she said. That's all I have. >> There's two witnesses right here. Three people saying the same thing. >> No independent witnesses. You guys can't stand in parking spots. >> Is there a sign that says that? >> It's a common roadway rule. It's a main road. >> the Where's the road? >> You can't stand in the road, right? If you don't see the sign here >> It's not a road. This is a parking spot. >> road. Where are the roads? >> it's not a road. It's a parking spot. >> You can agree to disagree with me. I can still give you a ticket. >> We just arrived at the park. >> What's the ticket for? >> I'm paying already. >> Obstruction of the roadway. >> Obstruction of the road This is not a roadway. It's a parking spot. >> Whatever you want. >> trying to go around and they were blocking him. This is a waste of time. We >> Obviously. >> Okay, so can they move? Also, we can park because we've been here. >> here first. That's why he did it. >> right. >> He's been here. That's why he's in the parking spot. The other guy you were talking to was blocking everybody and we were here before him. >> He's waiting for someone to get out so he can get in here. >> No, we're already here and he was blocking everybody. So we went around and now this guy's not letting us park. >> Wow, I don't understand why you guys are like really going with them instead of us when we've been here. We paid. The guy almost like ran him over. He hit him with his truck. Where's the justice here? Where's the justice? >> Listen, you can go park at Holland Park. >> No, we're not going to. Why? >> You can't stand in a parking spot. You can't park in You can't just stand here. >> Why can't we park here? >> Because he's trying to park here. You can't just stand here. >> They need to move out of the way because they were blocking us. >> Right now you're blocking the whole roadway here because you're causing this whole disturbance because you're standing in a parking spot. >> You can fix the problem really quick. Just tell them to go away. >> could take all three of you to jail. That's how I could fix the problem. >> Jail what? >> For obstructing of causing and disturbing the peace. Obstruction. Do now want me to go on? >> on. It's a nice Sunday, guys. Come on. It is a nice Sunday. It is a nice Sunday. I don't know what is the problem. >> I don't know either. There's a line of cars here because of this. >> We were in the line, too. >> Where's your car? >> He's trying to get in. >> So, he's not here. So, he's not here. >> He is. >> How are they supposed to park if they were blocking the roadway? No, he he he's good. to be able to park here. There's no cars blocking. He's trying to park. He's trying to park. We were already here. We were already here. You don't need to be at the car needs to be here. >> The car was here and we paid for it already. >> Well, the car is not here anymore, so you're not up to occupying the spot, right? >> paid for it. >> That's not how that works. You left. >> Still paid for it and we're still here. >> That's not how that works. >> Car or not, we are still here. >> how that works. >> There's no sign that says you can't reserve it. >> What is that the sign? >> What is the sign that said that I can't reserve a parking spot? >> Like what he said, I I don't mind taking someone to jail right now. So, it's either you guys are going to move or you're going to go >> Take me to jail. >> No, no, no. No, please, please, please. Please, please, please, no. Hey, record this. Record it. >> It is a nice Sunday, right? >> Please. Please. Where are you guys going? >> You're going to make this more difficult than it You guys having fun with this, right? >> Nope, not at all, actually. >> Back up. Back up. We've been over this. I gave you guys multiple chances. >> What did he do? >> Back up. >> What did he do? >> Back up. >> The deputy arrives to a situation that is entirely self-created. A family has planted a person in a parking space to reserve it. Another driver wants the space. Traffic is backing up. The family wants to know where the sign is that says they cannot do this. There is no sign. There does not need to be one. Under Florida statute 847.011 and general obstruction law, standing in a traffic lane or parking area in a manner that blocks the movement of vehicles constitutes obstruction of a roadway. You do not need a posted sign to know you cannot plant your body in a public parking space to hold it for a car that has left. The space is public. You do not own it because you paid for a nearby boat launch. You do not own it because your car was briefly in it. Once the car leaves, the space is available. The deputy explains this clearly, then offers a solution. Holland Park has parking. Move the boat there. Easy. Done. Inconvenient, but legal. They refuse and keep asking where the sign is. The deputy tells them plainly, "I can take all three of you to jail. That is how I can fix this problem." He does not want to do that. He wants them to move. He gives them multiple chances. Then comes the line. "Take me to jail." The deputy treats it exactly as it is, a request. >> He's a bad person, so that's what he's going to get. You guys weren't even here. These two were here the whole time, okay? I don't need to I don't need to speak to any of you. Please sir. No, please. Back up. Back up. Um Do you guys need anything else from us? Cuz he's got to take the ride. He's going to go to Broward County Courthouse. The Broward County Jail. Why? Well, yeah. You guys can read the the FCIC. I told you guys the issue. I told you how to resolve it, but you don't want to listen. You don't want to listen. I'm not resisting. I'm not resisting. I'm really not. Put him in the front again or there's going to be another problem. All right, this is Seven, you can turn >> The arrest takes more people than it should for a parking dispute. He says he is not resisting while resisting. He says he cannot breathe. Units are called for assistance. The family watches from the parking lot. He is going to Broward County Jail for a parking space. Under Florida law, the charges here are obstruction of a roadway and disturbing the peace, both misdemeanors. Neither carries serious consequences on their own. But they do carry a court date, a booking, and a criminal record entry that did not have to exist. The deputy told them exactly how to avoid all of it. Move. Go to Holland Park. Let the car park. He said, "Take me to jail instead." The deputy said, "Okay." That is the whole case. A public parking space. A family that decided wanting something badly enough made it theirs. And a deputy who gave them every reasonable exit before granting the one request they should not have made. Nothing in this video is legal advice. We are not practicing attorneys. All commentary is for education, awareness, and accountability. This is proof on record.
