The caller stated a drunk hotel guest had become belligerent and [music] then threatened him with a firearm. What police do not immediately know is that the subject [music] of this call is a New Mexico politician, Dan Stoddard. >> Where is he? Where is Where is he? >> Let's have everybody come over here. Why >> honey? >> According to the police report, officers were able to locate the firearm and held it at the police department until the Stoddards sobered up. >> They have negligent use of a firearm and they're not 15 anybody. They have allegations of an actual battery. They have him standing out here with the fire muzzle pointed down. Say, "I'm going to shoot you." >> Um, they're both heavily intoxicated. You can tell >> the uh the guy who they doesn't want. >> Okay. >> That's what I've been talking to. >> So they want they just want them. They want 86 and gone. So this is a commissioner from Rio Rio Rancho too. So, without thinking about it, there's also a glass back here, too, which is is not bearing any weight to anything. But I just discovered that >> the Stoddards were both trespassed from the hotel and required to leave and never return. The district attorney's office declined to pursue charges. >> [music] >> However, a review of court records show this isn't the first incident of Dan Stoddard allegedly mixing alcohol and guns. Stoddard was arrested on December 4th, 2024 for domestic battery in a request to the court to seize Stoddard's firearms. A police officer stated that on December 4th, 2024, Joy and Daniel had engaged in an argument where Daniel had punched and struck her in the face several times and stole her phone. Joy had a visible bruise to her eyes where officers on the scene determined Daniel to be the predominant aggressor where he was arrested that evening. According to a sworn affidavit, Dan Stoddard's wife alleged that Stoddard had pulled a firearm on her in March of 2024. The red flag order against Stoddard was dismissed on December 16th, 2024. And the domestic battery charge against Stoddard was dismissed on April 1st, 2025. >> So, we're going to Yeah, we just want everybody to be safe.
