On January 17th, police responded to a home where a woman said her husband attacked her with a child's toilet, uncovering years of hidden fear no child should ever witness. >> What's going on? >> What's happening today? >> Uh I think she's she's had a lot to drink. >> Okay. And so um she got mad at me when I was trying to put the kids to bed at a certain time and um she started yelling and stuff and I and then she tried to record me so I took her phone away and she got really mad and I just walked away. >> Okay. So argument started because you were putting the kids to bed. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And you said something about a phone. What happened with the phone? um she we're we're she filed for divorce about a month ago and so every time I start to like discipline or talk to anybody, she puts the phone in my face and starts recording. >> Okay. >> And I did I did try to take the phone out of her hand and push it away from But >> Okay. Was there disciplinary action that was happening tonight or why did she start recording? Um, it was just because I wanted the kids to go to bed and like and she was um doing stuff upstairs and I just >> I told her she'd be inside waiting for you. >> How many kids? Two. Cuz like you said, you don't know where rock bottom is, but at this point you lost the trailer. You lost a truck. >> Yeah, >> that's a lot of money. >> I would assume like and after all this stuff, I would assume that like she'd like springboard and like just come with me and like stop drinking, >> right? >> And she hasn't >> start doing all those things again. Start going to AA start going to counseling. >> You got kids? >> I don't. >> No, >> I don't. But >> it's amazing. Like those are my lifelines. Those are my >> That's what I hear. biggest things like I've never thought I'd love something more than those two kids and to see them sitting in bed tonight and like cuddled under their blankets cuz mom started screaming again and throwing stuff and like I don't want to be here like I don't want to I want to take them out of here so bad but I can't take them away from her. >> So many people think there's only two two options, right? There's the what we know as it is and then there's the separation because clearly the fixing things isn't working right. But there's always an alternative, right? And the alternative could be maybe it's a hard separation for a month, maybe two months, you know, you stay with your parents or her parents or or whatever with the kids so the kids are safe. >> Um I thought they'd be safe because she is a babe now, >> right? But she's failed her bait several times over and I have to come and get them and pick them up because she was in charge of them and she was drinking. >> It's terrifying. >> It's terrifying. Seriously, like I don't get what what's going to be your rock bot. like when you decide that you're not and she'll I offered like let's please go to AA together or something so that way we we get help together and not interested because she doesn't have a problem apparently >> and and if not for you >> I needed for for her do it for you because I mean you've been I mean these stories that you're going to share you're not the only person sitting in that circle you're not the only person sitting in that Really? >> You're not alone. >> I guarantee you you start sharing stuff like this, there's going to be other people. >> Like, I can't even imagine that she would do that cuz she's such a good person. Like, she was We've been together I've noticed since she was 14 years old. I'm 50. >> Sure. >> And she's such a good person. >> What What has caused it? >> Like, what's the spiral? Why does she look to to the alcohol? >> I don't know. It happened two years ago. That's when it started. >> Yeah. >> What changed? >> I don't know. >> Has she ever said why she drinks? Like, is she numbing out from something else? >> I have a bad feeling that she had an affair. I caught her having an affair and asked her to please end it. >> Okay. >> And I would stay with her if she's ended it. And she did. And then it just went, >> is it? Let me ask you this. >> Just let her leave. Let me ask you this. Have you actually forgiven her for that [snorts] >> in my head? >> Probably not. >> Yeah, it's hard. >> Yeah, probably not. >> So, um I listened to um there's a podcast out there that I really like. You might like it, you might not like it. Um so, he brought on this other guy. He's like a psychologist, shrink type guy. Um and his show is all about like relationships, marriages, so on and so forth. And the thing he talks about when things like this happen is you have this this question of the relationship you knew as it was is over. >> Yeah. >> But now the question is can we start something new that's exciting. >> That's what I was hoping for. >> What you knew is over. Right. But can there be something new and exciting? >> What I knew was >> because you can't you can't live every day. >> I've loved her since I was 14 years old. >> But you can't live every day wondering why. You can't do that. Can't do that to yourself. You can't do that to those kids. You got to go talk to somebody. >> Okay? >> You got to. So, he's part of I like him a lot. He gives a lot of advice on these things. But go talk go talk to a counselor. >> I do. >> Seek professional help to deal with this issue. >> Okay. >> What's your name, sir? >> Talk to your daughter. She described a scene that sounds like you prevented the woman from calling 911 and you threw the toilet at her. I I don't want her to like bring like she just goes off the rails and like start like she's in the middle of a child. Um >> her and grabbed her wrist and tried to prove the phone from her hand. That's called interfering with reporting domestic violence against the law. That's I'm we're not we're not bum rushing you. We're telling you slow how it is, dude. And you seem to be very cordial with Officer Nichols here. >> Just stay seated for me for now. My partner's going to finish explaining some stuff to you. Okay. >> Um, first of all, I would like to get you some shoes >> and [snorts] uh >> Oh, go get them. >> The first floor, right? >> I can grab them. What do they look like? >> I'll get them. >> Yeah. Come on. Let's go together, buddy. >> Are youing kidding me right now? >> They they can grab them for you or if you want to go. We just want you to be serious. This is not >> I can't leave my kids with her right now. She's so drunk. You want me to leave the house when she can't even >> function right now? [snorts] >> You want me to leave my kids with her for the night? >> She was talking to us fine. >> Yeah, I'm sure she was. >> And the kid, the one child wasn't asleep, so I think she's like bedtime for them. >> Yeah, cuz that's what I was trying to do. I was trying to put her to bed at 8:30. They go to bed at 8:30 every night. >> We'll get you some shoes. We're trying. >> So, you're arresting me? Yes, sir. >> I'll rip it off. >> Thank you. >> You're kidding, right? >> So, what am I getting arrested for? >> Domestic battery. >> Domestic battery. >> Yes. For throwing the toilet at your wife >> and interfering with reporting. >> What? >> And for interfering with reporting domestic violence. Oh yeah. >> So she beats me up every night as one night that I take her foot away. You guys show up and arrest me. We still have to catch a balancer. >> So kind of like we were talking about outside. >> This is such squad car with no problem. >> You can't do that. >> [snorts] >> We'll just do a double because >> it's not going to fit around the single wrist there >> with this stuff on. [snorts] >> I'm just going to take the one watch off and I'm going to such >> the fact that you guys are actually doing this. >> So, I'm going to talk to her. We're going to see if maybe she can call her mom. See if her mom can come out here. >> Yeah, somebody should be watching those kids. >> Otherwise, I'm the only one who shows up here. She has a bait in her car. She fails it every other night. I come here, I miss work to show up to pick these kids up for school. >> I come here, I feed them dinner, and then I try to put them to bed on time. And all she does is interfere with it. >> Can I explain something to you? >> When we get calls like this, if there's evidence of a battery and interference reporting under state law and policy, whether she wants you arrested or [snorts] not, we are forced to by policy and law. >> I get it. I get it, dude. I'm not fighting. >> Do you want to walk out the front door so we don't go by your kids? >> No. >> You want to go to the front door? >> She should see the fact that what she just did. Can you grab that wallet right there with the $100 bill? >> Do you want the cash to go with you? Because you're not you're not going to get bonded. >> You're going to sit up at the jail overnight. >> Yeah. You don't want the If he doesn't trust the cash, >> I'm just letting you know cuz it's going to go with you. >> Do I stole my phone? >> Yes. >> Okay. Great. [snorts] This is awesome. >> Oh, yeah.
