Investigate. Bring it in. Get out of the car. Hands up. Hands up. >> From high-speed chases spiraling out of control to hearttoppping crashes and controversial use of force, police dash cams have captured some of the most haunting moments on the road and in the line of duty. Hey, get out the >> In this video, we uncover real life incidents that blur the line between chaos and control. Moments that expose the danger, intensity, and raw unpredictability of police work. These are the most disturbing things ever caught on dash cam. On October 18th, 2015 in West Palm Beach, Florida, a routine traffic stop turned into a nightmare for Florida Highway Patrol trooper [music] M. Mickens. As he walked back to his cruiser on the Florida Turnpike, a speeding vehicle swerved and struck him violently, shattering his pelvis and leaving him bloodied on the road. Despite the excruciating pain, Mickens managed to radio for help. Captured on dash cam, the incident is a stark reminder of the dangers officers face and the critical importance of move over laws. His survival against all odds was nothing short of a miracle. It was a total disaster. No one, no matter how quick on their feet, could possibly dodge a car barreling toward them at that speed. Just when it seemed certain the trooper wouldn't survive, a miracle unfolded. 46 469. I'm not getting anything but your number from you. in 469. We've got road 51. Also, we've got rescue 37. On June 20th, 2024 in Milwaukee, a white SUV suspected in an armed robbery and carjacking became the center of a tense police pursuit. After briefly stopping, the vehicle suddenly sped off, leading officers on a high-speed chase through city streets. The situation took a dangerous turn as the SUV entered a construction zone on I43 and found itself blocked by a cement truck. What happened next was sudden and violent. Officers were forced to act when the driver attempted to ram a patrol car. The aftermath revealed a scene more tragic and complex than anyone could have expected. >> Felony stop. >> Driver, shut the vehicle off. >> Driver, shut the vehicle off. Do it now. >> Taking off. What followed was a highstakes chase with no signs of slowing down. The suspect drove like he had nothing to lose. Weaving through traffic and defying danger at every turn. It was clear he wouldn't stop willingly. This wasn't just a pursuit anymore. It was a ticking time bomb waiting to detonate. >> 32 33 in pursuit of a white Chevy tracks. Oh, let's hit a car. But instead, they made a final reckless decision, ramming a police vehicle and putting even more lives at risk. At that point, their actions left officers with no choice. >> Stop the vehicle. Simei, 19, was sentenced to 12 months in a rehabilitation center with possible work release followed by 3 years of probation. Tyrone Rogers, 17, faced a harsher fate. 6 years in prison after pleading guilty. Just like this one, the next case ends in a devastating tragedy. One that sparked outrage and left behind more questions than answers. On November 19th, 2018, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, a high-speed chase came to a crashing halt. But what followed was even more disturbing. Dash cam footage captured a 16-year-old suspect being dragged from his wrecked car, already restrained, only to be met with a flurry of strikes from multiple officers. One punches him, another presses a knee into his back, and others join in. The teen, unarmed and handcuffed, can't fight back. that what should have been the end of a pursuit quickly spiraled into something far darker. An incident that would ignite national outrage and trigger a federal investigation [music] into police brutality. Heat. Heat. Hey, hey, hey. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [music] the trooper. Michael Kennedy was indicted for excessive force, [music] facing up to 10 years in prison. Two other troopers and [music] two sheriff's deputies were fired, and both FBI and state investigations were launched, marking a serious response to a shocking abuse of power. Sometimes danger strikes when [music] you least expect it, even when you're doing nothing at all. On February 15th, 2022 in Spring Township, Pennsylvania, a routine moment turned into a surreal near disaster. As a police cruiser sat parked along Zion Road, a tire suddenly flew off a passing pickup and smashed directly into the windshield. The troopers inside had no time to react as glass shattered around them. Miraculously, no one was injured. This brief clip highlights the random, often bizarre dangers officers can face, even while stationary. Despite the severity of the incident, the driver of the pickup faced no citations as investigators ruled it a freak accident. With no evidence of [music] negligence, authorities classified the event as an unpredictable mechanical failure. The next suspects thought outrunning the cops would be easy, but they were about to get a harsh reality check. On May 7th, 2024 [music] in Columbus, Ohio, what started as a routine traffic stop quickly spiraled into a highstakes chase through city streets. Whiteall police had spotted a stolen Hyundai linked to an earlier armed robbery. But the real shock came when the suspects turned out to be just teenagers. Instead of pulling over, they hit the gas, setting off a chaotic pursuit that would take several unexpected and dangerous twists. From hijacking a second vehicle to colliding headon with a police cruiser, this was no ordinary car chase. What happened next would leave officers and viewers stunned. All right, he just slowed up. Making a U-turn back left. [music] Welcome to Denver now. I want to give a Uturn. Uh we're going to go southbound 640. Thank you. >> [music] >> for the air southbound north behind. Just turn back eastbound on line for eastbound I'm going to use that farmer. Heat. Heat. That's >> operator United States. We got over inside now. just blew through here. That's right. That's right. >> These teens clearly weren't ready to call it quits, and neither were the officers on their trail. With each wild turn, each stolen vehicle, and [music] every near miss, the chase pushed deeper into chaos. Sirens screamed, adrenaline surged, and tension mounted with every second. But no matter how fast they ran or how risky their next move, the end was closing in. I don't know this head airport. >> I can't see, bro. Rain all over. 631. >> We're going to all in this place 31 climb and river in the uh entrance way entrance way stadium right southbound. >> Get out. Get out. [ __ ] go upside down. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. After a full search of the vehicle and its teenage occupants, the adrenaline gave way to cold reality. The chase was over. One by one, the teens were placed into the back of the patrol car. [music] No more running, no more stolen rides, just silence and flashing lights. The road ahead wasn't another escape route, but a straight path to jail, where consequences waited and the thrill of the chase had finally run out. Heat. Heat. [music] >> [snorts] >> Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] [music] [music] [music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [music] The teens now face multiple serious charges incl. including aggravated robbery, grand theft auto, reckless driving, assault on a police officer, and damage to police property. With a history of vehicle theft, this latest stunt has only added to their growing criminal record. This next case takes an unexpected and wild turn, something you definitely don't see every day. On March 23rd, 2024 in Gwinnet County, Georgia, dash cam footage captured a scene straight out of an action movie. A 75,000lb front loader speeding recklessly through city streets. The driver, a former Waste Management employee, had stolen the massive vehicle following a dispute and led officers on a surreal chase. Weaving through traffic and endangering lives. He refused to stop. In a bold and unconventional move, police used another front loader to intercept and flip the stolen machine. >> Okay. Is it like a tractor? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Any idea what he's doing? >> No idea. No, we have no idea. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. Hey, stop. MP8 radio and a individual who's driving a four-wheeler tractor is not stopping for me. I have no way of stopping this vehicle. He's going to go out of the main road. >> Watch your dick. Watch your dick. Keep gravity. >> I can't control him. >> Grab your machine. What is it? One of those things. How fast is it? >> They can get They can get up to probably about 30. >> Okay. Grab that. Quick, quick, quick. >> Making a left. >> Keep me updated. I've got the sanitation truck, the large tractor, which is our best bet. It's a little bit slower, but he's behind us as well. But he's >> Hey, radio. We're in front of Victory World Church on Brook Hollow. Raquel for the vehicle center drive. >> This is unbelievable. >> Still connected power. Tease him up. Hey, flip it. Flip it. Flip it. If they can flip it, flip it. Flip it. >> With no safe way to stop the massive front loader using their patrol cars, officers devised a bold and unconventional plan. Deploying another front loader to intercept and bring the runaway vehicle to a halt using its own kind. 1039. >> Let's get him up since his thing's laying on it side. The suspect faced a string of charges including theft by taking, criminal trespass, reckless driving, fleeing police obstruction, and secondderee criminal damage. Up next, the situation escalates fast as tensions rise and the officer suspect encounter takes a dangerously intense turn. On August 5th, 2022 in Mcome, Mississippi, a routine traffic stop spiraled into a viral controversy. Trooper Hayden Faly pulled over Eugene Lewis for multiple infractions. But the situation escalated when Lewis's brothers arrived, recording the encounter and refusing to leave. Moments later, with Lewis handcuffed and on the ground, accusations of excessive force flew. captured on dash cam and smartphones. The footage ignited public outcry, drawing comparisons to past high-profile cases and fueling ongoing debates about police conduct and accountability in rural communities. >> You just all leaned over. You got your license insurance, sir? >> I ain't got no license. >> You ain't got no license. You got ID card. >> All right, we can work with ID card. >> Look, I'm stopping you for careless driving for your seat belt. Yeah, you come flying down Delaware bumping. I saw you. I was at the gas pump. You was bumping and chilling. Ain't have your seat belt on and come through there flying, man. You were lapping folks up. You ain't have your seat belt on. You got the tinted windshield >> and you were big chilling, wasn't you? >> I probably apologize. >> You're good, man. Hey, just go and step out for me for a second. Okay, just put your stuff up on the dash. All that stuff. Don't put your hands in your pockets. Come this way. I'll get it. Turn around. Turn around. There you go. Just put your hands on top of your head. I'm just going to pat you down for well on your head. You got any weapons on you or in the vehicle? >> Put your fingers together. >> Just like that. >> Anything that's going to stick me, poke me, or hurt me. >> How much is in the vehicle? >> No. You sure? So, if I search it right now, I ain't Is there any shake or old roaches or anything like that? Pretty pet. Is that a Yes. Yes, sir. >> Okay. Well, don't lie to me, man. >> I ain't going to lie to you. I swear to God, I ain't going to lie to you. >> Okay. Did you smoke some recently? Yes, sir. When you smoke about 15 minutes back, >> okay, not a big deal. Look, hold on just a second. Okay, come on back here. >> There ain't no weapons in there. >> You got >> Okay, look. It's all good. Stand right here. Stand right here. So, look. On the scale, you fix your shirt. Pick your shirt. Fix your pants, too, man. Come on. We can't We ain't even looking scrappy out here. We want to know who might drive by and see you. >> All right. Look, on a scale of 0 to 10, with a zero being you've never smoked on them before and a 10 being the highest you've ever been from smoking marijuana, where would you say you fall at on that scale right now? >> Zero to 10. Yes, sir. >> Zero being you've never smoked marijuana before. 10 being the highest you've ever been. >> Right. Just trying to see where you fall out on there. Just make sure you okay to drive. >> Oh, yeah. >> Just make sure the number ain't real high. >> Oh, no. It might be a one or two, but one or two. Yeah. I ain't hear about like that. >> Ain't a big deal. Here. Come on. Step back here. Let's see. And ain't no truck. Okay. I'm going to check real quick. But hey, look, do me a favor. Just turn back around. Put your hands back on your head. Now look on your head. >> Okay. Look, you're not under arrest. I'm just going to detain you while I search your vehicle, okay? Cuz we out here on the edge of the woods by ourselves, right? >> And I don't know you. They come off as easy as they come on. Right. >> I understand everything you doing and everything you >> No problem. >> Hold on. Just like I'mma lock them so they don't get no tighter on you. All right. Damn. >> Now look, when I run you and stuff, you ain't going to have no warrants, nothing, are you? Okay. You ever been arrested before? >> For what? >> Oh, well, I went I've been a couple times. >> For what? >> Okay. >> Selling truck. I >> What was you selling? >> Ain't no in there right now. You sure? >> Ain't nothing I done my whole life with. >> What you do now? >> I own drive truck. I own drive trucks. Uh got me two trucks and my son and my nephew. They be going out there. So far, the interaction seemed calm. Lewis was cooperative, following the trooper's commands and responding to questions without resistance or attitude. Everything appeared routine, but would it stay that way, or was the situation about to take a turn for the worse? Let's find out. >> You got insurance on this truck? I ain't it been to so long? What's up? >> I just got the transmission in my man. put some tires on about a week ago now. >> Where you live at? >> Right down here. >> Right down the street. Is anybody at home? >> She have a license. >> I stay right22. >> I got a Mississippi ID card. Mississippi 1028. 801 972 469 Stand down. So what you what did you say you it is you do >> just left Clinton 18. >> When's the last time you had in that old patron? >> Cuz yesterday you ain't had nothing today. So I give you one of them alcohol says it's going to say no alcohol. >> Just just today. That's it. Show up. Got you. Back seat bag. Lewis seemed pretty sure there were no drugs in the truck and maybe he was telling the truth. But given his criminal history, the trooper wasn't about to take any chances. Blind trust wasn't an option. To be safe, he needed to search the vehicle and make sure nothing was being hidden. >> Okay. Go >> ahead. back with Rodriguez out of Mississippi 02 license come back suspended. >> Why are they suspended? I was going to casino one day right back at >> But when I made it to when I got over there, I had got 50. >> When I got back when I got back >> I had going to be Paul John David 3547 on a silver aluminum. >> I already had I already had Right. >> Yeah. So if they spot the week, I go to prison. You know what I'm saying? >> Call John 357. Okay, that's good. Perfect. A 2011 TMC Yukon aluminum color expiration 2020. SH confirmed. The search was intense, but so far the trooper hadn't found anything significant. That was a good sign. It meant things weren't heading toward chaos or confrontation just yet. Still, in this line of work, nothing can ever be ruled out, and tension can arise in a heartbeat. Y'all go ahead. Okay. Hey, y'all don't stop. Y'all keep going. Don't stop. Keep going. Sir, >> don't stop. That's okay. Y'all keep going. Your brother's fine. Stay in the vehicle. >> You do have to keep going. >> Yes, you do, sir. Y'all go ahead and go. Hey sir, y'all go ahead and go. >> Yes, I can. Y'all go ahead and go, please. >> Sir, you can go right now or you can go to jail for fairy to comply. You can leave or you can go to jail. I just want y'all to keep going. Pick. >> I want y'all to keep going wherever y'all were going. >> Okay. Well, he's fine right now. Y'all go ahead and go. 1025. >> Folks think they're helping. They just making things worse. Although the argument ended without any immediate trouble, it was a clear shift in tone from what had been a relatively smooth interaction. One thing was certain. Lewis's brother wasn't happy. And with that kind of tension in the air, there was a real chance he might come back. >> All right, sir. So, look, I'm going to be straight up with you, okay? You're going to be coming with me today. All right? I'm going to let you call somebody to come get your car. You got yourself on there? >> Yeah. Okay. Hang tight. What? I'll be coming. >> So, today you're going to be coming with me for your traffic violations for driving license suspended and driving under the influence of an illegal narcotics. >> I'm under the influence of >> because you smoke because you smoke. So, you can't smoke and drive. >> I ain't smoke marijuana. I don't know what you mean. >> You've already told me you smoke, man. >> I said I said yes, I smoke. >> But I ain't smoke I ain't smoke. Look, we talk about it later, but right now you can come with me. Okay, come on back here. Sir, come on back here. I'll tell you do otherwise. All right. Right there's good. Stop. Turn around. Face that way. Turn around. Sir, turn around, please. I'm not going to keep telling you turn around. Turn. You going to turn around or not? >> Are you going to turn around or not? Are you going to turn around or not? Are you going to turn around or not? You >> going to tase me for nothing with your handcuffs down? >> Yes, sir. If you don't turn around, I will tase you. Turn around. >> Stay just like that. And don't move. Where you think you're going? >> Sir, I'm going to let it sit you down. >> I'm trying to make this easy. We'll call a record for your truck. >> All right. >> You want to call a record for your truck? >> I'm doing everything you had me. >> All right, then. Stand right there. I'll talk. >> I'm standing right here. >> Then don't move. How can I be all >> M2? >> All right. Come on back here. >> I'mma do >> what is it that you going to do? I'mma get whatever I need to get with you. Whatever I need to do with you to do with you, bro. >> Have a seat. >> Do whatever I need to do with you, bro. I'mma do it, man. You got me up, man. Give me something that I ain't did nothing for. >> Have a seat. >> Huh? Give me something that I ain't did nothing for. >> What you going to do to me? What the going to do to me? What the you going to do to me? >> M24, can you get to me? You talking to me? I'm [screaming] I'm Look, I'm [screaming] talking to me. You >> I ain't doing nothing. >> I'm going take you. >> I ain't doing nothing. You talking to me. You talking to me. >> I'm going to let you sit in the seat. >> No, you talking me. You ain't let me do nothing. You talking to me. >> And that was the last thing the trooper needed. Just as he was trying to keep the situation under control, Lewis suddenly panicked. And to make matters worse, his brother showed up again right at that moment. With the officer already struggling to restrain the suspect, the tension hit a whole new level. >> Hey, another me. He beat me up. He beat me up, man. The ball beat me up, [screaming] man. The ball beat me up, man. >> The ball beat me up. Back up. Back up. [screaming] Back up. >> Back up. You have a seat. >> Get back in your car. >> Back in the car. >> You sit down. You get out. Get out. >> Oh, I got handcuffs on. I got handcuffs on. I got handcuffs on. I got handcuffs. >> Have a seat. Have a seat on a seat on Get on the ground. I got three. I'm right. Get on the ground. Have a seat. You get on the ground. Do it. Do it. Do it. To help me get these beat up. >> Have a seat. >> Have a seat. Beat your boot up. Have a seat. You have seat. You have one. Have a seat. You have one. Do it. Sit down. Do it. Back up. [screaming] Back up. Back up. Have a seat. Back up. Back up. Get down. I ain't doing nothing. >> Back up. >> Back up. Beat me up. >> You beat me up. That's fine. It's going to be different. >> I ain't fooling with you with three nothing. That's fine. It ain't going to go the way you think. >> Stay back. >> I'm telling you right now. Stay back. Stay back. Stay back. Stay back. >> Stay back. Stay back. >> Stay back. Do the man. Stay back. This man got to jump on that man while he was in the car. Man, I'm jumping the [ __ ] off. Stay back. Stay back. >> Stay back. Hey, you mind helping me? >> Stay back. You stay back. >> Exercising restraint was in everyone's best interest, and the trooper knew it. Staying calm could prevent things from spiraling. But the real question was, would Lewis and his brother do the same, or were they about to let emotion take over, turning a legal matter into something far more dangerous? >> Stay back. Have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> You have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Hey, come have a seat, Michael. >> Look, you need to come get my car. >> Hey, don't put your hand on me, bro. >> I already got somebody on the way. Now that Lewis was finally secured in the patrol car, the trooper turned his attention to the next challenge, arresting his brother. But this wasn't going to be smooth sailing either. I'm sorry. >> Hey, get out of my seizure. >> You have a seizure up. >> With an ambulance on the way to check on Lewis, the truth was about to unfold. Was he faking it to distract the trooper? Or was he genuinely suffering from a seizure that could turn lifethreatening? Either way, the stakes had just gotten even higher. >> Sir, sit up. Stop pulling away from me. I'm not playing this game with you. I'm not playing this damn game with you. Right there. We still get another picture. You done now? You done? You're done. You're still going to jail. Mom. >> Hey sir, if y'all just would have kept driving and went on. I was I want you to hear something. I want you to hear something. Your brother's going to jail now. All of y'all are catching charges for your theatrics. I want you to understand something. I was taking your brother to jail regardless. I was going to let y'all come get his car to help him out a little bit. Save him a little bit of money. Save him a little bit of hardship. But since y'all come back down here, want to walk up on me while I'm trying to fight with him and y'all want to act a fool. Everybody's going to jail. Everybody's car is getting towed. Do you understand? >> I at the pool. >> Yes, sir. Show did. Every one of y'all's going to jail. All you had to do was go on and mind your own business and I was going to help him out. But y'all made this work. I want you to know that >> this was far from a good place for Lewis. He was on his way to jail. His vehicle was being towed. And more charges could still be coming. At this point, the smartest thing he could do was stay calm and let the legal system take its course. He tell you otherwise just prop up. >> I'm going put Is he chill out now? >> I told him to give us a couple minutes. We'll let whoever else get here. I told him as long as he's completely calm. >> Mhm. >> Right there. Right there. Right there. Right there. I told him as long as he's completely calm here in the next minute, he don't do no kicking, no hollering, unbuckle, no nothing. We would take him out, readjust his cut. >> I tell you, readjusting is a bad idea. >> I understand it. But as long as he's There's four of us here now. >> No, just >> so no, I already got him in my car. Um, so I told him to calm him in the car. Told him to calm down for a couple minutes. He's bitching about his stuff. I told him we'd give him a couple minutes not to unbuckle, not to shake the vehicle, not to holler, not shoot. >> No, thank you. >> And we would adjust his cuffs. I take him off, adjust them. >> So, here's what's going on. Here's what happened. Traffic stop on him. When I told him he was going to jail in my car, he started trying to walk away from me in the cuffs. And I put him in the car. He said, "I'm not going in this car. Started fighting against me, trying to get back out of the car." He knows. I grabbed him around the neck, tried to push him back up in the seat, and get him buckled in. He fought with me, fought with me. They pul They drove back by. They done been by one time. I told him to keep going. Anyway, I told them to keep going and leave. >> I told them to keep going and leave and they they come back, >> got out with their phones. Every time I start wrestling him, they run up on me from behind. So, they're both going for failure to comply. >> I'm going to get a record for this one, too. Yes, sir. >> Man, ID. Where's your ID? I'm also going to need a second. Is your ID? I don't know where my name is. Okay. 22. Uh, when you get time, let me get that 28 again. Paul John David 7692 on a purple Dodge Charger. Hey, Blue. Hey, you going to chill out a little bit? You calm down now? All right. In a minute when we get all this taken care of, we'll fix your cuffs. But all that stuff was unnecessary, man. I was trying to take I was going to let you >> sir. I never did. >> Okay. You told me when you tell me you not going in my car and I'm not buckling you in. >> No, I never I never was smart with you. >> Okay. So, look. Here's what I want you to understand. You see that? That's a camera. And I want you to look right there. That videoed everything that happened. Okay. I'm glad it's on, man, because I never did nothing to you in a due respect to that. >> Okay. I tried I tried to help you out, man. >> You to make make you choke me and run to me the way you >> Okay. I never I never >> Okay. >> Sorry. You think so? I hate that for you. I hate it. I'm sure it was. You could have been here. Eugene Lewis faced a long list of charges. DUI, driving without insurance, a suspended license, seat belt violations, and multiple traffic offenses. It was a rough day that only got worse by the minute. As for the trooper, after a full internal investigation, he walked away without any criminal charges, officially cleared of any wrongdoing. This next case was pure chaos, an outofcontrol moment with the potential for massive destruction. On November 19th, 2017, drivers along Keen Road in Clearwater, Florida, witnessed something they would never forget. An airplane falling from the sky. In a moment that felt more like a movie scene than real life, a small aircraft crash landed in the middle of traffic. Dash cam footage captured the heartpounding descent as the plane clipped a tree, spun out, and skidded to a stop on the sidewalk. What caused it, and how did anyone survive? The answers are just as shocking as the footage itself. No criminal charges were filed as the incident remained under FAA. a investigation. In the next case, officers came just seconds from death. A heartstoppping moment that could have ended in tragedy. In Lufkin, Texas, what began as a routine roadside assist nearly turned into a deadly disaster. Officers Jason Vance and Seth Thompson were helping a stranded motorist when out of nowhere, an 18-wheeler barreled over a hill, skidding wildly out of control. With seconds to react, the officers and the driver sprinted into nearby woods as the massive trailer swung dangerously close. Dash cam footage captures the terrifying near miss. The trucker [music] didn't stop, vanishing down the road. But the story didn't end there. What unfolded next turned this heartpounding moment [music] into a powerful lesson in luck and timing. >> All the builds are going to sell it or they going to keep it. Yeah. >> I thought we were going in. >> No charges were filed and no citation was issued. Though the truck driver didn't stop at the scene. He later apologized after being found by police. In the end, the incident was treated as a close call and a valuable reminder of how quickly things can go wrong and how fortunate everyone was to walk away unharmed. Something similar unfolded in this next case, and it was no less intense or dangerous. On March 25th, 2018 in Sardine County, Utah, what began as a routine response to stranded vehicles quickly turned into a chilling scene. As Sergeant Cade Branchley approached one of the cars, a black vehicle suddenly lost control on the icy road, slamming into him and launching him into the air. The dash cam captured every heartstoppping moment. Remarkably, Brentley survived. But what followed next, both on and off camera, was equally unexpected. >> 403. Yeah, your 27. You copy it. 216 403. Go ahead. 403. Hey, I'm just approaching manual. I got my start slow down or anything. You guys, okay. Uh, east west was [snorts] good. That impact was nothing short of a disaster, and the sergeant's chances of survival looked grim. But thanks to the quick response of bystanders, help arrived just in time. Their swift action may well have been the difference between life and death. 104 you reassign 6256 and you back 107 to 61 please. >> Copy. We're about a mile from the mouth of Sardine Canyon, Cash Valley side. >> Okay, I'm going to be there in just a minute. >> You want me to back up again? >> Okay, they're coming. Yeah, I think 16. You want southbound close to fair and go away, but he's injured. Can you give me all these injuries? No charges were filed in the incident as it was determined to be the result of poor road conditions rather than reckless driving or criminal intent. Up next is a case that took place in Florida in February 2023. A lead manager at a Murphy gas station reached out to authorities after discovering a major theft. Approximately $12,000 had vanished over the course of a month. The losses appeared to be happening gradually, raising suspicions. The lead manager suspected that a fellow store manager could be behind the ongoing theft. >> We were at a meeting last week and she comes up and says, "Hey, I processed the deposit and I forgot to get to the bank. I called my supervisor and she says she can't find it." >> So, I said, "Okay, well, let's dig into it. Let's look at the cameras. One of the cameras just happened to be down >> of their doing. >> Well, yeah. Just >> it just it was there was a the tech actually screwed it up. It just happened to be down. >> Of course. That Yeah, that >> one day. >> Yep. >> So, I go and she we're at this meeting together in Savannah. I talked to her. She's like, "No, I did it, but I didn't put it back in the safe like I'm supposed to. I just shoved it in this backpack that we use on top." I go, "Well, okay." >> So, I interview her other employees that were here that do over the phone. They're like, "Hey, we didn't do it." Well, we get a report from our office saying, "Hey, the previous hasn't gotten the bank yet either. >> Okay. >> So, I come up there with the DM and we start talking to her and she finally confesses, hey, I stole the deposit, but I used it to pay back another deposit I lost 5 weeks ago. Her claim is she's been floating deposit. So, she steals today's to pay for yesterday's. >> Okay. >> And she's been kind of doing this all along except she's gotten behind. >> Huh. So, of course, she never told anybody she lost the initial deposit. >> She never reported it because she was worried about her job. This is what she's telling us. >> Unfort the thing about our camera system is it may have gone into safe mode, which means it still records, but nobody can get into it. We sent it back to the company to see it's down for it. But regardless, I explained that to him, and that's when to her, and that's when she said, "Okay, I did take the deposit." Oh, and by the way, not only did I take that one from the 15th, I also took today's >> to cover >> to try to cover some of that one, >> right? But I haven't gotten both in there. She brought back the original. She went home and brought back the original deposit back, the empty deposit that she stole from the 15th as well as today's minus about 1,400. >> Okay, >> we still think we're missing the other one, but with the banks being closed, we can't verify it. >> And she swears she dropped it off. Okay. So, on the 15th of this month, correct? >> Last Wednesday, >> there was a deposit that was never >> deposited. And she admitted to that that she didn't take it when she was supposed to, but doesn't stated she didn't know how it got lost. >> She left it here. No, but nobody could find it. >> Okay. And then deposit from >> today >> today >> was also missing. >> Okay. So, so she so say she took so what she's saying is she took like today's deposit to cover for the 15th the >> correct >> deposit >> correct. >> Okay. So I mean do you guys have the are you still waiting to see from the bank if you have the deposit for the 15th? >> Never went. >> So that never went in either. >> Still not there. >> Okay. >> And we know it's not there because she actually brought the paperwork back. She I have an empty deposit bag that she filled out with the deposit slip and no money. So it doesn't it doesn't even exist. >> Okay. Interesting. >> But I know right now for sure I'm missing all of the 14th >> and part of today's. >> Okay. So two so the 14th or >> Yeah. Two. Yeah. Sorry. >> The 15th. >> It's processed on the 15th. It's for business day the 14th. >> I got you. So the next morning, process the deposit. >> So the deposit is for the 14th. That's when it was dropped off, but they process it on the next day. >> And by the way, this is all happening real fast. Normally, I'd have this all written up for you and I can send you an email tonight that'll show you everything. >> Oh, yeah. No, that would that would definitely that that would help. Um, and then today's or yesterday's deposit you're waiting >> she was supposed to deliver today. She took home. >> So the 19th. the 19. Correct. >> Okay. >> But she brought that back, but it is shy of about $1,400, I believe. I've got the actual exact dollar. >> Okay. So, she brought back the deposit from yesterday. >> Oh, yeah. Part of it >> part partial deposit minus $1,400, >> right? With the paperwork and still in the deposit pack [snorts] back. yesterday. >> I don't know what's going on this month, but this is my third one just this month >> here or like >> I covered the whole East Coast. >> Oh, okay. >> But it's this is unus at Christmas. This is unusual to have three in a month. >> Yeah. Do you know how much the deposit was supposed to be for yesterday? >> Uh 30 I want to say it was 37 and change. I have the exact numbers in there. >> Okay. >> Oh, you know what? actually took a picture. >> The lead manager had already spotted a major inconsistency in the other manager story about borrowing company funds. As the investigation unfolds, she sits down with officers for an interview in the gas station staff area. >> I will tell you exactly what happened. >> Give me Yes. Give me your >> approximately 5 to 6 weeks ago, my husband was taken to the hospital via ambulance having a stroke like event. >> Okay. So, I panicked when I left from here. I left with the deposit in the bag like I always do with my intention of stopping at the bank, putting it in the night drop, and going straight to the hospital. >> Okay? >> Instead, I drove straight to the hospital cuz I was not focusing on anything. >> Okay? >> I was there for seven or eight hours. It was almost midnight when I went to come home. [music] my little thing on my car on the inside of my car where I keep like my ID and my dad have a card and all that stuff was open. I didn't think anything of it. Shut it. Went home, slept for 3 and 1/2 hours and was back here at 4:00 the next day to open up like I do every day. >> Okay. >> Did everything like normal. Went to the bank and asked for the receipt from the night job for the deposit. They did not have one and that's when I started to panic. My debit card was gone. My credit card was gone. The deposit was gone. So, someone was obviously in my car. >> Okay. What hospital did you go to? >> Uh, not Advent. The one Oh, Cal. I'm not from here. >> Cal Regional. >> Yes. >> I didn't park in the parking garage or in the parking lot because where I'm from everything you have to pay for it and I didn't have money to pay for it. >> So, I parked on the street. >> Gotcha. >> Walked about a block to get there. didn't think I didn't think anything of it. >> Okay. >> And then that's when I started to panic and I'm like, I'm gonna get fired for this missing. I didn't take it. You can look at my bank stuff. It'll prove I didn't take it. I am completely broke. It has nothing to do with that. I can pay all of my bills and put food on the table and that's it. >> Okay. >> There's no I didn't I did not benefit from this in any way, shape, or form other than keeping my job. All right. What about yesterday's deposit? What happened? >> I wasn't here yesterday. >> Or today's? >> I have Sunday off. >> Today's deposit. >> I handed everything I have to him. [snorts] >> Okay. Did you make a report? >> No, I did not. >> About the money missing? >> No, I did not because I was afraid I was going to get fired right then and there on the spot. I am my family's sole provider. >> Okay. So, you didn't make a police report, didn't tell your job that your car got broken into. >> I didn't even tell my husband. >> I didn't tell anyone anything. >> Okay. Do you know approximately how much that deposit was for that day? >> It was between 6 and $6,135. For some reason, that is staying in my head and I can't I don't know off the top of my head. And it also my daughter has gotten me a new phone since then and I can't go back to the exact day so that we could look it up. >> [snorts] >> And I was just using the deposit from the next day to pay for the previous day >> until I could physically pay the money back that was taken or missing or however you want to say it to be right with here. I didn't want to lose my job because it was me not paying attention to what I was doing on my way to the hospital that caused me to just go. >> The second manager seems to be weaving an emotional narrative, clearly aiming to win sympathy, but the story is far from over. What comes next reveals even more, including several attempts to pin the blame on another employee. You and I had how many conversations you >> remember? >> At least three. >> We had three conversations, right? >> And all three times, remember the question I asked you asked you, did you take it? You said no. It's okay. I asked you did [snorts] take it. You said no. >> And I asked you who could have taken it. What did you say to me a few times? >> I said I didn't know. >> You said it probably was Richard. >> No, sir. No, sir. No, I said he's sketchy and he doesn't answer questions well and he lies like a freaking civ. >> I'm going to back up just a second. Absolutely. I asked you who you thought could [snorts] have taken. Said could have been Richard. >> No, I said I don't know, but I wouldn't put it past him. I did not say he took anything. >> You had three opportunities to say it wasn't my people. And you didn't take those opportunities. >> No. >> And adamantly say it was [snorts] not my people. I I didn't I don't remember saying anything that he took anything safe at all. You said, "Does he lie?" And I said, "Yes, cuz he does." >> Unfortunately, >> any way we can do anything without me going to jail anyway of anything. I don't care if I sign papers that I'll pay everything back. I don't care. I don't care. I just I really can't go to jail. I really can't. I did not benefit from this money at all. You can look at my bank statements right here on my phone. You can look at everything. I have not been using this money for anything other than to make the other deposit. And it was my mistake that I didn't call and tell someone. It's my mistake. >> Well, I >> I just can't I can't go to jail. I can't. >> Well, unfortunately, I >> Oh my god. I can't >> I don't have any way of proving any otherwise. The money is missing. I know they have to. [snorts] >> I really can't go to jail. >> Well, unfortunately >> Oh my god. >> It's out of my control, out of my hands. [laughter] >> My husband can't even speak in sentences by himself right now. His brain is all [laughter and gasps] and I have a child. I can't. That's the only reason why I didn't say anything cuz I didn't want to lose my job because everyone depends on me. >> That's the only one. There's nothing I There's absolutely nothing I can do. Absolutely nothing I can do. >> Oh no. >> Not at this point. So what I can do is I'm going to have to put you in handcuffs. >> Oh my god. Are you kidding me right now? >> Well, you have you're going to the back of my car. I have to. But what else? >> Can I make a couple of phone calls real quick? Just because of my husband being I need to tell my family where I am. >> Head out and take a right. >> Right. >> Yes, ma'am. Well, we can go on the other side that way. >> Yeah. I'm absolutely scared to death. >> I understand. Listen, >> I have never been arrested before. I got into a fight when I was 17 and that was it. >> No, I I get it. I I completely understand. >> You really didn't. >> I understand that. But unfortunately it >> I know >> the money's missing and you were the last one and had you made a report >> you could have avoided all of this most likely. >> In the end the former manager was slapped with a charge for grand theft and was ultimately sentenced to 9 months probation. She was ordered to complete 25 hours of community service alongside this. Last but not least, another suspect on foot. On May 2nd, 2018, what started as a routine day for Seattle Police Officer Anthony Dukrae quickly took a sharp turn. He was called to assist the Kent Police Department in an industrial area of Kent, Washington. The mission, track down Giovani Deshaawn Haron, a recent escapee from Kent County Jail. Officers eventually narrowed his location to a warehouse where Haron was discovered hiding inside a boat. A K-9 unit was deployed to arrest him and what followed was a tense and dramatic arrest.
