On January 30th, 2025, a routine shopping trip took an unexpected turn when an employee reportedly showed up intoxicated. What happened next quickly brought police into the situation. >> Hello, my man. Hey, what's going on, Officer Pier Brown Police Department, sir? Okay. Okay. Yeah. >> Hey, sir. >> No, no, no. We're good. >> Hey. Hey, boy. Hey. What's going on, man? >> Hey, how you doing? >> Pretty good, man. You all right? >> Oh, yeah. >> What's going on? >> Uh, nothing out of the ordinary. >> Okay. You want to turn this way and talk to me? Yes, sir. >> Let's go out here and talk. >> Yeah. >> All this officer are right here out. How you >> doing, sir? >> Good. How are you? >> I think he's hallucinating. Will you watch him real quick? I'm going to see if >> Hey, what's going on, man? >> Nothing for me. >> Do what? >> What else do I need for me? >> Oh, we're going to have medical come check you out. You were asleep in the back. I want to make sure everything's good with you. When you woke up, you were like >> hallucinating a little bit and talking to yourself and stuff. So, >> no, I'm I'm I'm good. >> Okay. Do you have your ID on you? >> Do you have anything to drink or take anything or anything? >> No, sir. >> I'm uh If you will, just step back. I'm going to walk past you real fast. >> Yep. >> Like I said, I'm going to have You can hang out with these officers. I'm going to have um paramedics come and talk to you. 104. You'll have to go to a different gas station. I'm not sure if he's taking something or what. I woke him up from the back and he's like hallucinating and stuff. So, >> I'm glad I called. >> Yeah. So, I appreciate it. >> Just make sure you're okay. >> No, no. I I I get it. I'm just I'm [ __ ] exhausted. That >> How long have you been at work? Like I said, I I did a day shift and then I went home for about >> just while we're talking, I'm going to take this knife off >> four or five hours. Then I went home and then after that, I mean, I came back up here. >> That's it. >> So, how long is that, though? Like, >> I couldn't tell you, man. I mean, I like I said, this is about 6 hours. I mean, I got off at uh 3:00, went home, cooked dinner for the kids, for the family, >> took a a little nap. I did have little drinks, and I've got back up here. And then, yeah, I passed out. So, >> how much have you had to drink? So, I see the red blush, watery eyes. That's all sign of out. And yeah, y'all are trying to wake me up. >> But it's also a sign of intoxication. That's why I'm so I'm not worried about what you have going on with the store or anything. We got called for a welfare check because somebody was standing in here for like 15 20 minutes. I go back there and I wake you up after having to rub you pretty sternly and yelling at you. >> Yeah. >> And you wake up talking to yourself and hallucinating. >> I probably had two or three drinks while I was cooking dinner and then after that they dropped me off here uh at 10:00 because I had to work overnight because somebody called out. >> Yep. So, >> what's going on? >> Hey, how you doing? >> Pretty good. So, we got called for a welfare check. A lady came in to buy some tobacco. She stood up to the front for like 20 minutes. Couldn't get anybody come here. She wanted a welfare check done on the employee. I get back there. He's passed out in the back office. He's showing signs of intoxication. I just can't smell the alcohol. He's got a history of being an alcoholic and driving. Um, he says he had a few drinks earlier. I think he's just drunk. When I woke him up, though, he was like almost hallucinating. So, >> I don't see what's going >> I'm trying to find contact. >> Hi, guys. Is this him right here? >> How's it going? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. >> How's it going? >> I'm doing great. >> Nicholas. >> Nicholas. How you doing, Nicholas? >> Doing great. >> All right. Doing all right? >> Yeah, I'm doing great. I just I passed out. I've been running off of nothing. >> So, you want to check you out? >> Yeah, that that's fine. >> Okay. get you in trouble. Check you out real quick. >> 80 cents 90. >> Look, I I'm sorry to come out. I just >> It's our job, but you got you got to [ __ ] >> Better this than you find you back there with not breathing. >> No, no. I sleep. >> I do. >> I really really am. I mean, y'all come in all the time. I mean, I'm I'm here. I'm usually alert. I'm just [ __ ] >> That's it. I I understand that y'all are too, you know. >> Hopefully, your boss is I mean, it's your boss's job. It's your boss's fault that you're up here, right? >> He doesn't have a ride. Uh, this car broke down last week and I can't get somebody to come up here. I live 5 minutes down the road. I walk up here. I've been on a straight narrow ever since. You know, I don't drink, drive, I don't do none of that. I walked here uh or I walked home yesterday and then I had to come up here and get a ride >> just to work. >> Yes, sir. I did. >> How much? I live at Spring. >> Yeah, I live off Spring off of Tyrus. >> I do. I live >> I'm I'm [ __ ] tired, y'all. It's It's not. And thank y'all for checking on me. I mean, if y'all have any other questions, I mean, >> do you have the store owner phone number or? >> I do not. >> You don't know the phone number for the person you work for? >> I I have the district manager, but >> Okay, awesome. What's their phone number? >> But I really want to give you her phone number so I could lose my job for falling asleep on the >> I'm calling regardless cuz I think you're intoxicated. >> Okay. Can you pop up in the car? >> Hello. Yes. How can I help you? >> Hey, this is Officer Perry with the Brian Police Department. How are you doing this morning? I'm >> good. >> Sorry to bother you. So, we're actually at the Circle K store that I believe you're the district manager of. Um, so we are out with Mr. Nicholas. Uh, we got called for a welfare check. Uh, customer came in, said they couldn't get anybody to come to the counter for about 20 minutes, 15, 20 minutes. >> Oh, what? >> Um, so we get here, he's admitted to drinking before he came to work. Uh he was in the back passed out and seemed to be >> no >> almost like hallucinating >> tempity. So um >> I'm not sure what y'all want to do. >> Oh my goodness. >> Um [sighs] Okay, let me call the store manager so he can get on site. >> Okay. >> Uh but he was in the back passed out. >> Yeah. and admitted to drinking before he came in to work. >> Yep. Apparent he said that he he was trying he's trying to play it off that he's just really tired. Um I can't smell alcohol coming from him. That's why I'm kind of hesitant to arrest him for public int. He's got all the other signs. Um but so I'm I'm I'm kind of leerary on arresting him for public insight. I just don't believe it'll stick. Uh, he did say he worked an entire day shift today and then went home. I don't know how long the day shift is, but he said he went home for like four or five hours and then came back to work the night shift and he's just really tired. When I woke him up, it was like he was almost hallucinating a little bit. So, >> Okay. Um, Wow. And he was passed out in the back. >> Yeah. Sleeping. >> Yep. >> Okay. Gotcha. Uh, >> if you just want to give me the store manager phone number, I can call him. Oh, I can give him a call. Okay. Yeah, I can give him a call. Let him know he needs to get on site. >> Okay. >> And then um you know, we'll have to address all this definitely in the morning. >> Yeah, I'm let y'all can handle that. If you just want Do would you like for us just to send him home or? >> Yeah, but yeah, let me get somebody out there. Let me get the manager. >> Okay. >> Uh get him on the phone. >> Okay. And um >> if you can just uh have him call me um or if you can call me back, let me know about how long it's going to be. >> Okay. Yeah, I'll give you a call back. >> Awesome. I appreciate it. Thank you. >> Okay. Thanks. Bye-bye. >> Your manager's on the way. So, um >> uh what was it? Manager or >> Yeah, your store manager. Okay. >> Yeah. So, here's the deal. I think you're intoxicated. Um, the only reason you're not in handcuffs right now is because I don't have a straw for my PBT to have you blow and I can't actually smell the odor. Okay. I've been doing this long enough. I know what somebody who's drunk looks like. Um, just because you don't have the odor of intoxicates coming from your body doesn't mean you're not intoxicated. There's plenty of alcohol that doesn't emit an odor. >> Um, yes, sir. >> So, I think when you went home, you had more than just a few drinks. You came back up here to work drunk. I think you're coming down off of it and that's why you fell asleep in the back. So, it is what it is. I'm not going to arrest you for public insults. Um, just because I have to have something to show the courts. Um, and lucky for you, apparently nobody around here has PPT straw that'll work. So, um, he's going to be here. Who brings you to work, picks you up and all that? uh my my brother or my uh sister-in-law. Other than that, I usually walk to work. Uh but >> So, you don't live in Jacksonville anymore like? >> No, no, I'm No, I'm I'm right down the road. I'm right down the road. Uh the license or the address that's on my license is >> I don't know if you want to put a closed sign up right now. They're not open right now, ma'am. >> Um he's going to be on his way. Pretty sure they want to talk to you. So >> yeah, that's >> um I can't legally hold you. >> Okay, >> if you want to leave, you can leave. If you want to stay and talk to your boss, we're going to stay here to make sure nothing happens to the store until they get on >> scene. That's fine. No, y'all are up here all the time. I I talked to several of y'all. All right. Uh I mean, y'all are more than welcome to stay if y'all want to. Uh >> no, I'm saying we are going to stay. I'm saying you're more than welcome to stay if you would like to. >> No, I'm not going to sit here and walk off the premises and walk home. That that would give me a public talk, you So, you're admitting to being intoxicated? >> No, I'm saying I I'm not going to sit here and walk home if I've had something to drink, >> you know. >> And that's why you're not leaving. >> I'm not leaving because my boss is on the way. >> Okay. >> Well, I have a feeling uh like there's probably a 99.9% chance your boss isn't going to want to finish you to finish your shift tonight. So, if you want to call somebody now to come pick you up or >> Yeah, I can do that. Step inside the store to do that. >> Yeah. Well, you know, inside. No, it's a coworker down the street. They usually don't sell drugs. Can I go clock out? Y'all can follow me. You know, I just I need to go clock out to that. >> Hey, I'm So, my phone connected to my car. I apologize. I missed You said you have a another store manager that's on the way. >> Yes, sir. I have a manager. Her name is Karen. She should be there probably 15 20 minutes. >> Okay. >> Uh but he was in the back. He was in the office asleep. >> Yeah. >> Wow. >> Yeah. So, um, he's called somebody apparently that works with him up here to give him a ride. I have no legal obligation to detain him any longer. Um, however, I figured y'all don't want him to continue running the store. Um, >> so I told him he's free to leave. I let him know y'all would contact him, I guess, about his employment status or punishment or however y'all want to handle that. Um, what I he said his ride is going to be here in 5 to 10 minutes. What I can do is just um stay here until they get here. Um and then we can go from there. We won't let anybody anything uh happen at the store. Actually, yeah. We'll stay here until the manager gets here, though. Can you hear me? >> I can't. I can hear you now. >> Um so, I don't know how much you heard. What we're going to do is have his ride's going to be in like 5 or 10 minutes. I actually just got what I need to prove that he's intoxicated. Uh he's probably going to be going to jail in just a second if he does blow. Um if his ride gets here and picks him up cuz I have no other legal obligation to hold him until then. Um >> we'll just have a unit stay here and let people know the store's closed until your manager gets here if that's okay. >> Okay. Y absolutely. So okay. So um y'all are not going to detain him? >> Uh he will. I'm actually uh so I have to have something to take to the courts. I actually just got my breathalyzer straw for it that somebody brought me. If he blows and he is intoxicated, then we'll place him under arrest. But um other than that, we're just going to leave him. So, >> and it's okay. Gotcha. >> So, let me go in here and handle this then and then I can catch up with your store manager as soon as she gets here. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Not a problem. Bye. >> Okay. Byebye. Take breath and blow like you're blowing up. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, boy. Turn around. Put your hands bunny back. You're under arrest right now for public socks. That's what I said. You >> know my rod's on the way. >> Yep. >> I told you I just need the straw. Got a straw. >> You're over double the legal limit. You know that. So those few is bull crap. And you know it's bull crap cuz you've been through this before. You have a drinking problem. You need to get help. Coming to work intoxicated is not the way to do it though, right? So, I'll let your buddy know. Uh, you said his name's Lane. >> Yes. >> Okay. Whenever Lane gets here, we'll let him know. >> Lyn, I'm just evidence bag. >> Yeah, that's for the the >> Oh, I got you. Earlier today, whenever I was >> I'll leave your quarter in your pocket. Spread your legs for me. All right, have a seat. Let's take your hat since you got the poke on it. I'm also going to take that cigarette. >> Yeah, go for it. >> I am. I was It wasn't asking for permission. I was informing you. >> Yes, sir. No, >> I appreciate you giving me the permission anyway, though. I can't really >> There you go. Watch me. >> Hey guys, how's it going? >> Good. >> Good. I'm good. >> He's a manager. I'm okay. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Sorry. Not really manager stuff. >> No, you're good. >> Manny, he's good to go. Manny, just selfch checkout. You got it, homie. He thinks >> uh yep, he never clocked out. Uh he's on his way to Selen County Jail right now. >> Okay. >> Republicans. ically he was at work over twice the legal limit. So, uh, he did say he had called somebody before we actually placed him into custody to be picked up by a guy named Lane. I guess somebody that works here with him said he was like 5 to 10 minutes away. So, I guess when Lane gets here, if you just want to >> let him know, >> let him know. >> Okay. Yeah, you got it. He's just passed out in the back. >> Yeah. Yeah. A lady called and she's like, I've been standing here trying to buy cigarettes for like 15 20 minutes and nobody had answered. We came in, I called out, nobody answered. Checked the bathrooms. I walked to y'all's back office and he was leaned over, slumped over in the chair, and it took me yelling at him and shoving him to wake him up. When he woke up, he was like almost hallucinating. So, we had him cleared by medical. And then >> other than that, uh, >> well, I'm not this store's manager. I'm that store's manager, the one. Um, >> but this manager, his car is broken, but I brought relief. So, >> all right. Well, that's what he's going to do. >> Thanks for watching Body Cams in.
