I wasn't trying to steal anything. I was just trying to get my money. >> What's she doing, man? She just dipped. Come over here. Hey, she's on the south side of the canal. South side of the canal. >> You saw her? >> Yeah, just here. They just went in the water. >> On June 23rd, 2025, Cape Coral Police stopped a woman linked to two open retail theft investigations at Target and Walmart. Officers recognized her from prior contact. That recognition was the legal foundation. >> How are they going? >> Hey, how's it going? >> All right, what's going on? >> Need to talk to us. >> Okay. >> Yeah, can you tell me Can you go talk to this officer? >> Yeah. Okay. >> Tell you what it's about in a minute. >> Okay. >> Dude, where you guys coming from? >> I'm just giving her a ride. >> Okay, okay. What's your name, sir? All right, I think she has something uh pending going on, so >> Oh. >> Is this her bag? >> Put it over here so it doesn't get wet. >> 24/7, you tell me what to do with them. >> Terry versus Ohio, 1968 officers may detain based on reasonable articulable suspicion. Surveillance footage and prior personal knowledge cleared that threshold. The stop was constitutionally valid from the first moment of contact before any questioning. Officers delivered a complete Miranda advisement. Miranda versus Arizona, 1966, requires this before custodial interrogation. The subject waived her rights voluntarily. No Fifth Amendment violation occurred. >> Yeah, I already talked to them. I already talked to them. >> All right, so I'm going to read you something and we're going to talk. >> I already talked to them. I wasn't trying to steal anything. I was I'm to grab my car. >> I'm going to read you something and we'll see. If you want to talk to me can talk your side of things, I I'll be glad to hear it. >> now? >> No, you're detained right now. >> I'm detained? >> You're not free to leave. >> But I already tried to talk to the girl. Like I I didn't I wasn't stealing anything. >> Okay. So, I'm going to read it to you. If you want to tell me your side of story, I would be glad to hear it. So, just give me a second. >> Okay. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions and have with you during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions without a lawyer present, you still have the right to stop answering at any time. You also have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to a lawyer. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? >> Yes. >> Yes? Okay. With these rights in mind, do you want to tell me your side of story and let me ask you some questions or what? >> Why do you have my ex's ID? >> You tell me. >> All right. This is my car. It's in the back of my wallet with the stuff in it. My rabbit fur. >> Okay. >> Yeah, but why do you have my ex's ID? >> So, tell me what's going on. >> Nothing. I >> Your side of story. >> I got I got a cart full of stuff and I sat at um the the service desk for a minute and nobody was there. So, I like I was texting my friend and I went out to go get my card and my money and I went out and they they stopped me at the door thinking I was like stealing. I told them I just had to go right here to get my card. And I it was We were parked right there. I have my card. I have my money on me and everything. Like I just had to grab my money real quick. That's it. >> You just said you had your card and your money on you, but >> But I had to grab it from my car. Because my money was in my rabbit fur. And she was she was like freaking out on me that I was trying to steal something. I didn't I wasn't trying to steal anything. >> Usually when someone goes shopping, they bring their money with them. >> I know. I left it in the car. >> Okay. >> I didn't need to leave it in the car. >> What? You left your wallet in the car? >> Yes. >> Was it a wallet >> No, no. It wasn't my wallet in the No, I left my money, my cards, my debit cards and everything in the car. I left my wallet in the Walmart bag that was in my rabbit food in it. But I left my actual money in the car. And I just had to grab it from my friend. He was like right there. Oh, my boyfriend kind of, but I don't know. But he was right there. I I even have it I have my money on me right now and everything. Like I I had the money to pay for all this stuff. Like I was only pushing the cart cuz I had my backpack in there. I didn't want to just leave it like that. But I wasn't trying to steal anything. I told the girl that. I just I said the service desk for me. >> That's your correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. So >> But I wasn't trying to steal anything. I told her that. >> All right, that's fine. >> What does your wal- What does your wallet look like? >> What do you mean what it looks like? >> What does your wallet that you carry on the daily look like? >> I have a few different wallets. >> Okay. >> Um I I What do you mean? Why is he asking you what? I don't even know which one I had at the time. Why is he asking me? >> That's yours? What? >> Yeah, it's the one in my wallet. >> Okay, that's yours? All So you couldn't pay with the money that's inside? Money, debit cards, all that. >> No. No, because that's not enough money to pay for it. And the other money is some funny It's It's some [ __ ] that I got from one of my son's friends. I had to It's It's a That one's a long story. But it's That's not It wasn't enough money. And the other half is in the car. And that's the main reason What? >> Oh. >> I told her I had to get my money out of the car. But she was just freaking out on me. I wasn't trying to steal anything. >> Okay, so I'm going to be real with you, right? When you go into a store and you forget that you have you got to get your car you don't just go walk out with all the merchandise. You don't get it. >> Well, no, that's why I said I the guest services for a minute. There was nobody there. Honestly, I was just pushing the cart. I was just going to push the cart right to the door so I could call out. Let me get my money. He was parked right there. Like he would have heard me. I didn't even get all the way out the door. I didn't even push anything out the door. He would have heard me from right at that that point. He's calling out to him. Like I wasn't trying to steal anything. That what I'm trying to do. >> Give us a minute. >> I swear to god. >> Just hang on right there. Hang on right there. >> I don't know if it's the same guy. >> Can I use your only phone? >> No, not now. >> No, no, no, you can't. >> You guys are going to take me to jail though, right? >> Why do you say that? >> Because if you guys stopped me then you think that I was trying to steal it, too. Like that's just how that's how it goes, right? Even though I told her I wasn't and I stopped right there. I wasn't trying I didn't take anything out the door. I was just trying to call for my I wasn't trying to steal anything. I was just trying to get my money. >> Well, you know, we're just trying to make sure this isn't a big misunderstanding, so. >> This is a big misunderstanding. Like I don't I'm not trying to mess this up. >> Well, the way it looks, right, is that you selected all a bunch of stuff, came in, you walked past all points of sale. >> No, I said the guest services for a minute. There was nobody there. So then I was going to go grab my money. I was going to pay for it all at guest services cuz I had it the >> Why? >> Because >> Why were you going to pay for it at guest services? >> Because I had some Target on credit thing. I always go to guest services. Always. I always pay for my stuff at guest services. >> Is this you? What happened on that day? >> What? I don't I don't I don't know. I don't know. I can't I don't even know what >> correct? I mean that's you. >> yeah, it looks like it, but I don't know what happened on that day. >> That's you. So wait, we're not we're not We're we're not >> It doesn't matter what store that was in. That's you. >> So what? >> I mean it's on video like I said, we're here for a reason. You you admitted that you were at just at Target. This is you in another store. >> I I don't I don't know. I don't know where the where the hell that wire is. I don't have >> This is at Walmart. >> have that shirt. >> You shop at Walmart? >> Yeah, I shop at Walmart, but I don't even have that shirt. I don't have that shirt. I don't wear True Religion. >> Okay, you might not have it anymore, but >> How do you know what that is from? >> Because you can see the symbols on it. >> You know, we've had previous interactions with you. We know you personally. We knew that was you from before. It's no it's coincidence. We just saw you on a bike and we're like, oh, there she goes. So that's what that's why we're here. We're just That's what so that we're just trying to we're just trying to see. So obviously you have a you have a reason for or uh an explanation for what happened today. We're asking you what happened that day cuz you're on video passing all points of sale. >> Passing all points of sale? I don't even know I don't even know what that is. >> Okay, here's the thing, right? I'm and I'm a very level-headed person. When you start lying to me, I get a little upset. So listen to me very carefully. You I showed you the picture. You said, yes, that's me. It looks like me. Then you you just >> But I don't have that >> 10 seconds later you just said, no, no, no, I don't have that shirt. >> But I don't I don't have that shirt, but it does look like me cuz my shorts and everything. I always wear those cut-off shorts, but I don't go I don't make it a habit to go past points of sale. I don't make it a habit to just be stealing food and and stuff at Target. Like I don't want I don't want to get in trouble. Like I don't I don't like getting in trouble. I don't like that. I don't want to lose my job. I don't want to lose my kids. >> do you remember that day specifically? Do you remember like did you leave your wallet that day too or what why is it >> incident where you had self-checkout with a whole cart of food and people say you tried to self you tried to do the self checkout over the app. And it just wasn't working for some reason and employees were helping you trying to get you some help. >> Was it over here on Pine Island Road? >> Yes. >> That went through. That went through. If I could get my phone, I'll show you the receipt to it. >> Okay. >> That went through and it told me that it went through. It said you're all set and it said it said it you went through. And that I don't know what the hell that would be. If if that's the same incident that happened at Walmart on Pine Island Road, then that's what happened on Pine Island Road. Cuz you're saying it's a big incident with self checkout. I did have a big incident self checkout, but it went through. It paid and they were telling me that it didn't and I'm telling you yes it did. And I showed them my phone and everything. And that's when I just got pissed off and I just said whatever. I don't have time for this. I need you to go feed my kids or I need you to go home for something. I don't I don't really remember too much of it cuz I don't really remember. But I don't make it a point like I'm not >> So that day So that day you were at Walmart and then what happened? You went through the self checkout? >> know if it was that day. I had one incident at Walmart. I don't know if it was I don't even >> We don't have many incidents like that. Just you're just telling me it's a big coincidence that a girl that looks just like you just in a different shirt had the same exact incident of a self checkout where you tried to pay on the app and it it just all a big coincidence? >> What do you mean? This is a big coincidence. >> Yeah, someone who just looks just like you had the exact same incident at Walmart that you shop at about self checkout on an app. >> On on on that day, let me see the photo again. >> You guys are going to take me to jail. >> Ma'am, just listen. Just listen. >> Ma'am, you're not cooperating. >> You said I am cooperating. I don't want to go to jail. I don't want to be in trouble. I don't want to go to jail. >> All right, look. >> Jeez, I don't want to go to jail. >> Yeah, I think you're literally wearing the same shorts. >> No, I just got these shorts actually today. >> All right, so This is clearly you. On this day, what happened? Did you Was it that you didn't pay or did you have an issue at the at the at the self-checkout with the >> know if it's that day or if I don't even know You're saying that that's me, but I don't even know if that is >> Clearly you. >> It's I mean it's that kind of looks like a gorilla. I mean it's kind of >> You might have had a rough day, but it's you. >> Uh it's kind of blurry. But I did have one incident at Walmart where they were trying to help me check out, but it my phone said that I paid I paid. My ex let me use his card on the Walmart app and that's why I was using the Walmart app cuz he didn't even have his card. He sent it to me in a text. I put it on the Walmart app and I paid and it said it went through. And they were yelling at me that it didn't or some [ __ ] I don't know, but I didn't have time to sit around there and just say [ __ ] to them. I had to go. But it went through. >> Okay. >> Oh my god, I did not I don't even That's just me. >> What's a What's a good address for you? >> Northport. >> Okay. What is it? >> I don't know. >> So you're saying if I let you get your phone Is it here? >> Yes. It's It's in his phone now. >> Okay. That you're going to be able to show me that you paid for that day that you're referring to? >> Yeah, if you can tell I you can tell me a date. It might take me a minute. I might have to try to get into the Walmart app with a cuz I I have a it's a whole different phone. I got to get back to it. reset. But yeah, when I had an incident at Walmart, it went through. It told me it was all set. You were all set. I even screenshotted it and showed it to the lady. And we were standing right there arguing about it the whole time. I mean you guys must have watched all that, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay, so then you saw that I was paying for it. >> Uh that's not a >> You saw that I was show I that I showed her the screenshot. I I showed her where it said all set. You can zoom in. You can see where it said You're You're all set. You're all set. That means you can go. You paid for it, right? >> Nope. They can't verify that you paid for any of that stuff in the computer. That day. >> You can zoom in on the photos and you can see where I showed her >> it says >> phone said. >> In their system, there was no amount paid for that transaction. >> You guys are going to clean each other's Wait, I can't really tell what >> Give us a second. Can you just uh lean up against the car? Do you know If I If I say these people, do you know them or not? All right? >> No. >> What? >> Can you show me your picture? >> Hold on. >> Yeah, I know. >> Who is this? >> She She was my brother's ex-girlfriend. >> Your brother's ex-girlfriend? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yes. We just moved out of our our lease. We got evicted from the place and we got evicted from the place and we were cleaning out all the drawers and [ __ ] I have her ID. >> Okay. >> And she know you have her ID? She knows that she left it at our >> Does she know you have it? >> Probably. I mean, I would assume so. It's a mirror. Yeah. I mean, I don't use it for anything. I just was cleaning out the house we got evicted. I don't I don't have no reason to use her ID. She just looks like me, that's it. >> Okay. And what about >> Yes. >> What's that? >> Same. >> Same what? >> Same what? My Okay, so my brother he likes he likes prostitutes. And whenever they don't have whatever it is that they need to perform their job or whatever it is, they usually give him something to hold on to. Um jewelry or their IDs usually is what it is. They always need their ID back, you know? Um so, that's what they used to do at the house and my brother would always bring home these girls and kind of >> And why would they leave their IDs? >> Yeah, if they didn't have enough money to get what they needed or if they couldn't get right or Cuz everybody's going to come back for their IDs. You know what I mean? Usually. Usually. >> Are they anonymous strippers? >> I got with actual friends. Yeah. Um just one of my friends. But she's also a trick off, but They're both tricks. So, they just happen to >> leave their IDs at the house. >> Cuz they never wanted to come back to pay them what they owed him. So, they left their IDs there. So, we're all getting evicted. And I >> they know that you have them? >> I don't know if they know that I have them, but they know that I lived in that house and they know that they left their IDs there. I haven't been able to reach out to either one of them. I don't know cuz I believe I haven't been evicted for very long. >> And what about >> That's my daughter's father. That's my daughter's my daughter's father. Yeah, that's my daughter's father. We have the same address on both of our IDs. >> Okay, but why What does that have to do with why Why would you have his ID? >> It's an old It's an old ID. >> Okay, does he know you have it? >> Yes, he does. >> Mhm, I don't know. Based Based on our last interaction >> knows He knows that He knows that I have it. It's an old ID. >> Let me move my patrol car real quick. >> Yeah, he gave me his ID. So, he was getting me IDs that he was loaning me IDs so I could shop at Macy's. >> Are you still an authorized user? >> Yes. Yes, I am. And yes, Macy's has come to show you and everything. >> Do you have a phone number for him since you talked to him? >> Yes. Yes. >> What is it? Are you talking right now? Five. Yes, it's a Okay. Just give me a second. I'm going to make a phone call. You have any trouble with your actually different. >> No, it's different. I think that's the golden sales in any kind of trouble. They told her I wasn't trying to steal anything. And she said that I was trespassed. >> Yo, straighten out your car so people just move like I thought it was my car. >> Can I get my phone so I can show you guys that it's done? >> This is his investigation, so I'll let him I'll let him figure out what uh Good work. Good work. >> I don't want to go to the police car. 620. >> Under Florida statute 812.015, retail theft is complete upon concealment with intent. Exiting the store is not required. The subject's claim that she never left with merchandise does not defeat the charge. The subject claimed the Walmart app confirmed payment. Officers stated no payment appeared in store records. A screenshot reading all set does not override the retailer's transaction system. Officers found multiple third-party identification documents in the subject's possession. Florida statute 817.568 prohibits of another's ID without consent. Explanations were offered but unverifyable in the field. Officers flagged the items for investigation. At the 19-minute mark, the subject fled on foot from a lawful investigative detention. Under California versus Hodari D, 1991, a person who flees a Terry stop is not seized during flight. And evidence of flight is admissible. Illinois versus Wardlow, 2,000 unprovoked flight is a factor supporting probable cause. >> So, this family dispute is about trespass from Target earlier? And what does that have to do with anything? >> Two thefts. >> What thefts? >> Target and Walmart. >> I didn't steal anything, though. So, they're not thefts. They're not thefts. I didn't steal anything. >> Yeah. >> There's nothing that I can say that's going to make you let you guys let let me go, huh? >> [cheering] >> Like I said, this is his investigation, so. >> Can I go talk to him? >> I mean, like look, the fact that some job in our Walmart, and then we get called to Toys R Us, same person. And like when it happened at Walmart, I looked at the video and I was like um I was like, "Yeah, I remember her when you when you go with you at a Liberty Tax when you had the issue with your baby daddy." Yeah. Just hang out a little bit more over there so I can see you. >> Um it's Yes, I have the property and >> Bro, we just Personally, I would just put that on the same report that this was recovered. Is there any sense to that? Put that it was turned into Put them into the report for the same time. Yo! Where'd she go, man? SHE JUST DIPPED. >> COME OVER HERE. AND SHE'S ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE CANAL. South side of the canal. 243K, we just had a white female fully on foot cross the canal south of the 16th Street. She's running southeast. Yeah, yeah, get in your car. Get in your car. >> Thank you, control. 2051 on it. >> She's running south on the street that's to the east south of this canal. We got two staff charges on it. It's in the middle. It's in the middle. Hey, come >> Oh, he didn't want to get her. >> Yeah, he did. >> What's wrong with the girl? >> She uh She ran from her spot. She was feeling. Are you going to go to the other side? I'm going to go to the other side. >> Bring her here. >> Hey, hey, it's shallow over here. Bring her over here. >> Bring her here. Bring her >> I'm not >> Let's go. >> I can't. My legs are jelly. >> Let's go. Get the [ __ ] out. Let's go. >> My legs are not working. I can't. >> Well, have EMS take you out. Come on. >> I can't. Can you pull the bush out of my Please. >> No. >> Pretty please. >> Let's go. >> Ow. Just pull them out of my Ow. Please. >> Don't [ __ ] tense up. >> Please. Ow. You're hurting me. >> Give us your >> You're hurting me. I can't, you're hurting me. You're hurting me. I can't move, you're hurting me. I don't know. Why are you guys doing this to me right now? Why? I didn't do anything. Take my arms, I don't care. You don't have to push me in the dirt like this. You don't have to push me in the dirt like this, I didn't do anything. >> have to [ __ ] jump in a canal either, but you did. >> No, I I didn't want to. You guys could have just tased me. >> Can you just say 1 to 10? >> No. Hold on. Hold on, I can't get my foot up. Hold on. >> Come on. Let's go, we're going to I'm going to >> Ow. Ow. Ow. Hold on. Oh, no. >> Oh, syrup. So, it's okay. So, what's in there? Is it cigarettes? >> Yeah. I don't have anything, but just money in my bra. I don't have anything at all. Oh my god. >> Nothing else in your bra? >> No. What else should I have in my bra that would make you happy? You would be you would be surprised things that are in a bra. >> No. I probably got to just fall out. >> If you want to hide something, don't try to hide >> I'm not hiding anything. >> Stand up. >> I can't. >> Well, then you can yell at me all you want, but I need to grab it out. >> On my right side. I want to sit >> Do you need a >> I want to sit in the car. All right. Well, let's sit in the car over there. Let's see if you can walk. Honestly, I can't. >> You got to sit normally. >> I I can't. >> I can't help it. >> Can you just push it? Just push it, please. >> Want medical to come check your vitals? >> Yes. >> All right. Here's some water, please. We don't carry water. We can get water for ourselves then. They're so busy.
