Yeah, we'll clear everything out real quick. I just want to make sure we're all good. Okay. It's not It's not related to here. If it all ends up being fake or whatever, we'll take care of it. I think I'm pretty sure I know it. Okay. I'm a little bit nervous. Hey, man. You're doing great. All right. Don't look. He's a good friend of mine. Don't make me go there. Yeah. No, I'm Did you go in? No, sir. Where you live at? Uh, I live down. Where do you live? I live on the north side. How did you get over here? Uh, I forgot. From where? You say you live on the north side? Yeah. Where do you actually live at? The north side. I promise. Like what's the express at least? Uh, the rough area. It's I just moved every month. You like a main road that bring you to there? Like how do you get to there? Uh it's Main Street. Main Street. Okay. Yeah. Why are you going to tell me you only took one bag? No, those I paid for. What? Those You paid for these? Yes. At Walgreens? Yes. I'm sorry. I walked right out. I'm sorry. I walked out with the with the hot chips. No, you selected all three of these items. I watched you. I was in sitting there the whole time watching them. Yes, sir. I'm sorry. So, why are you saying you lie to me when I saw you pick these up? I'm sorry, sir. I just didn't have any money. That was you. You have no money on you whatsoever. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Initially, the young man tries to lie to officers about what he's taken. But he quickly realizes he's going to need to take responsibility for his actions. Let me buckle you up cuz we're going to get you over there. Okay. Stupid. It was It wasn't a great one, but Hi there. Hi. So, obviously he came in. He's off duty, but he saw him steal some stuff. Called it out to us. Okay. Um, we got him. He's 16 years old. He's in the back of our cruiser. It's up to you guys if you want to press charges, trespass him, whatever. As far as we know, that's all he stole. Is he a Belmont kid? Yeah, he's like 6'4. Looks relatively respectable. Yeah, we kicked him out the other day. Um, I was told by her that one of my um other co-workers, he kicked him out the other day cuz he was stealing as well. Okay, so is this occurrence number two? Yeah, we had a lot of Belmont kids come in here, but I'm going to have to call my store manager to see what she wants to do. By all means, what's up? No, I was just saying I I'll Hey man, I I'm not saying what you did today wasn't a bad thing. But all things considered, you really do seem like a good kid. You're cooperating. You're speaking well. You're being remorseful. I know. I just made a bad decision. I I I just got out of practice. I was hungry. Uh my buzz don't come until like a little bit. Yeah. I just made a bad decision. Well, regardless of how the rest of this goes, let's let's make this a a learning moment. Let's make this a coming to Jesus moment. Not doing this again. Okay. Officers believe the young man is truly remorseful for his actions and are willing to release him. However, his future is in the hands of the local store manager. Officers stand by waiting to hear if they wish to press charges. I mean, all things considered, yeah, like I told him what he did was wrong, but he really does seem like a decent enough kid compared to the ones we're chasing out of Hyandes and stuff. Like, he's been super cooperative, well spoken, hasn't put up any type of an argument. You like, he's owned up all of it, super remorseful. So, this is when we uh buy him. I'm I'm thinking that might be it. Restaurant. No, he's been super cooperative, super remorseful. That's what I was saying to Banks. All all things together, he doesn't have his mouth. At least that way, we're at least going to get the cops off. You know, since we're not the ones that reported it, we're not going to press charges. Okay. She said just if you want to let him know that we've seen him in here before. Do you want him trespass? That would mean that if he comes back, it doesn't mean he's going to jail. It doesn't mean he's in trouble right now. It just means if he comes back and you guys call it in, he'll go to jail for the trespass. No, I'm going to worry about it. Just let him know that. He is. That's all. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. It's this young man's lucky day. Hopefully, this close brush with the law is enough to set him straight. Officers clearly want the best future for this young man, and what they do next might surprise you. She said, "I'll call my boss." He called her boss. said, "Okay, we don't want him to go to jail because we didn't report it." And I was like, "Do you want to trespass? It just means he can't come back. And if he dies, there's a charge." She don't even want to do that. Just let him know he can't come back. Do me a favor. Go grab all the stuff and I don't know where whatever it is. Where's all the stuff at that he took? Sorry. I put it back in. No, you're good. We're just going to buy it for him. Um Oh, it's in my hand. It looks a drink or something. All right. I'm going buy that one. Not even thirsty. No, I'll be sure. This will happen every day. Just a little bit embarrassed. Don't be embarrassed. No. Be learn from it. Be embarrassed. This is a jailable. You can be going straight to JJC right now. Hey, thank the store. They said no charges. Officers give the young man some snacks, some good advice, and hopefully an important life lesson.
