He allegedly forced an 8-year-old girl into a bathroom [music] inside the store. Officers arrived at the scene and the child's mother immediately [music] recounted the events to police. >> My daughter was apparently attempted to be pulled into the bathroom by a young man here. >> Okay. >> What kind of man is he? And And it's right back there in the corner, so I had no clear angle His name is Angie. When I was using the bathroom, a little girl walked in on me. And she made it halfway in the doorway. I freaked out and tried to slam the door, and it hit her. That's why she was crying. He just saw the little girl run back over there. And there's a little boy, see. Now he's walking that way. So her story adds up more than the past. I got this. And the little boy saw me put my hands on her shoulder because I put my hands on her shoulder to stop her from coming in falling, that's why I pushed her out. That's what I'm trying to tell you. I was pushing her out. >> Andrew Jewel was charged with misdemeanor assault [music] and battery along with two felony charges including an amended charge of kidnapping/child [music] enticement and an original charge of attempted unlawful imprisonment. As of the latest update, a two-day jury trial [music] is scheduled to begin in May 2024. While awaiting trial, Jewel remains held [music] in the Sanilac County Jail.
