dressed in all black reportedly attempting to open multiple car doors including a police vehicle in an apartment complex in an attempt to burglarize the vehicles an officer spots the suspect who appeared out of breath after fleeing from another officer moments earlier get on the ground get on the ground we got him just north just north of 7th Street I'm 14 [Music] 43 only one one you see my car bro my car right police people the witness right AC another officer enters the apartment complex where a witness had seen the suspect later identified as Jared mccab attempting to open several vehicles in the parking lot the officer gathers additional details from the witness who provides a description of the suspect how you doing thank you for calling we app yeah we I want to talk this people people yeah I saw them okay that makes sense cuz they weren't very they weren't very helpful when I uh um did he actually get in the car I to put h Johnson yeah okay so I'm sitting in my car cuz I I get off late so when I work at W's I get here like 3: in the morning but if I do the bus shot I get here like 4:30 so I always just sit cuz I like go watch my surroundings I was something but I'm like looking at Facebook so when I look up I seen this guy coming and he like had on black gloves and he wouldn't yanking at the door he's not in one of these cars is it oh no cuz I don't want him seeing me no he's not going to see him oh so he went yanking at the door so I'm like what the hell so he went around and he kept trying to get in the police car yeah so I'm like okay hold on so I put the phone down and I'm trying to call the police but then I see him kept yanking the car like he's trying to get in this police car that's when I called but when I was getting ready to get out that's time I see him so I'm like I didn't want him to see my door cracked so I kind of shot it cracked yeah he went around he went the yanking on all these cars okay so I'm like damn when he did this car I felt like he was coming to my car next so I shut my door and he looked and he didn't see me so that's when like he just went steady yanking yanking yanking yanking and that's I was like hurry up and then I se him come and when he came I se him run through there that's when I went through there to look which way he went okay um and you said he have black gloves on he got on black gloves okay do black p we're going to um put you in a car so you can he's not going to see you we're going to put a spotlight in his face just to make sure it's the same guy okay um I'm ready thank thank you for individual the individual you're about to observe may or may not be the suspect take as much time as you need to look at the individual is important to clear innocent individuals from suspicion as to identify guilty individuals okay investigation will continue whether or not an identification is made after viewing the individual if you can make an identification please tell me okay after viewing potential evidence and determine if the suspect may have left any fingerprints on the police vehicle it is not uncommon for criminals to Target police vehicles often hoping to find weapons valuables or other items of Interest this makes it crucial for officers to thoroughly investigate the vehicle for any forensic evidence that could link the suspect to the crime I think away how uh this is day probable cause like stating that I was trying to do that because we got witnesses that said I was trying to do that okay but I didn't do that though there's no proof that I actually did that well you're going to have to go to court I I understand all right I understand there's nothing I I understand but I I'm telling you though sir that I didn't take anyone's items I didn't break you want to talk to a detective whoever I have to talk to but I didn't have to talk to but I if the detective comes out and tries talking to you're going to you're going to be willing to talk yeah I'll speak to the detective but I'm telling your right and everything like that I'll speak to the detective sir but what I'm telling you is I did not break in anyone's car somebody could say that they saw me trying to do that but I specifically did not do that get what I'm saying like my I didn't sit and try to open anyone's car I didn't go in anyone's car so they could say okay he's walking around it looks like he's trying to break and stop somebody's car but unless I literally do it you can't say that I did that because I did not physically do that now me walking around I understand yeah he's walking around he looks suspicious I was on the phone I'm arguing with my girlfriend I understand what it made look like but I physically did not do that Stu okay there's no car that I physically went in there's no report he approaches the suspect to discuss the events of the night before doing so however the officer ensures that he reads Jared his Miranda rights this step is essential as failing to do so could result in any statements made by the suspect being inadmissible in court all right so I want to talk to you about what's going on tonight I'm sure have have you have you dealt with this before talk to police before all right have you had your rights ready you before all right so I want to talk to you but before I can talk to you I got to read your rights all right I need a verbal yes or now that you understand when I read this to you okay yes sir all right you have the right to remain silent and to refuse to answer any questions do you understand yes sir anything you say can be used against you in the court of law do you understand yes sir you have the right to speak to an attorney before speaking to the police and have an attorney present during questioning now or in the future do you understand yes sir if you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish do you understand yes sir you decide to answer questions now without an
