Okay, you know, you know me, you know me well. You've arrested me. I know we've had some rough times in our patches. You always cause issues, you terrorize the community. When a group of juveniles on e-bikes refuse to cooperate with this deputy, he's left with no choice but to call their parents. But when the adults finally show up, the situation quickly unravels into pure mayhem. Cool, let's cool it. With me. I didn't do nothing. I didn't do nothing. I didn't do nothing. At around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, a Flagler County deputy is notified of seven juveniles on e-bikes riding around inside of a Walmart and setting off car alarms in the parking lot. The officer is there to trespass the teenagers from the property and potentially issue some citations for a lack of bicycle helmets. But once the parents are notified and show up to the scene, everything quickly spirals into chaos. That's when we were we got we stopped. They were going home, too. We were going back down there. So I got multiple calls about you guys. From who? That's none of your business. Multiple. About us? About me? Correct. So I'm going to give you guys Listen, I got I'm going to be honest with you. Just be honest exactly what you did. Honesty is the best policy. If you're not honest with me, that's when things get worse. So be honest, what were you guys doing? Bro, we just came out. >> You guys were setting off car alarms in the parking lot? No, we were not. No. That silver car alarm was going off for like 20 minutes. We went inside and said, in Zach's defense, said, "Someone's car is going off outside." No one came out. Someone's blue car alarm is going off. Blue or silver? It was I don't know. It was It was right there, though. Like you could literally go check the cameras. We were not doing nothing to no cars. We were sitting in the parking lot right here. Me and him just pulled up. >> Do you know the laws? Yeah. All right, you know what I can and can't do? That's very interesting. Are you guys I'm going to be frank with you guys. Are you guys dumb or what? Okay, so crossing the street with a bicycle, is that walking? No. Oh, JAMES. OH, WOW. LOOK AT THAT. SO, let's stop with all that crap, all right? Just use your brains for a minute. Does this look like a place to go riding around on a bicycle? Crock, listen. Crossing the street, doing all that stuff, going through the parking lots on bicycles and stuff. I mean, where are we supposed to ride? I mean, there's there's nowhere else. Listen, there's parks. This is literally a retirement town. There's nothing to do here. Okay, then you're going to see us a lot more and you're going to get a lot more tickets. I'm just being frank with you. Listen, listen, listen, listen. Cut the lip. Cut the lip. Obviously, these guys don't want to be in trouble. They don't want to get in trouble by their parents. They they don't want to be grounded, x, y, z. Listen, if that's what you want to do and you want to keep running amok out here, we're going to be called and we're going to take care of it. You guys got to start making good decisions for yourselves. So, I'm going to be looking up all the information, making my decision from there. You all might get tickets. You all might not. I'm pretty chill. I bring the least amount of people to jail. I write the least amount of tickets. Just hang out here. I'll be right back. If you guys leave, it's a felony. Minutes later, back up deputies arrive on scene. However, they immediately recognize the group from previous disturbance calls and prior arrests in the area. And this officer decided that it was time they finally learned their lessons. No more No more warnings. Ev- Everybody get warned. Oh, yeah, everybody get a ticket. Oh Oh, how many of y'all there are? Everybody get warned. What's What's your name? Yo. Yo. What's your name? I know I I ask him if he If he gives me a false name, he's going to jail. Breaking stuff, you laughing at your friends, disrespectful. Tell her that part, disrespectful, too. Hm? Um I'm sure I'm going to share my honest be transparent. I'm going to be I'm I know I know we've had some rough times in our patches. You always cause issues, you terrorize the community. I'm going to take a picture of me winning the court." All right. If you go to If you pass court, I really don't care about that case, to be honest with you. That ain't my case. I know. I got blamed No, but my issue is that I work and calls by you guys every single day, whether it's you guys or your friends or whatever. Always harassing people, always causing issues, never helmet on your bikes. I've warned you guys like 10 times. We need a helmet. Yeah, you do. How old are you? But no, my helmet No, my helmet broke. >> You know that kid that just got killed? That on the Oh, yeah, with the cement truck. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just trying to find out what's going on. Look, at this point, we're we're done giving warnings and we're not playing around anymore. Every time we do, they slap us in the face and they do it again 10 minutes later. It's wasting our time. We have better stuff to do. We have shootings going on, we going on, and I'm stuck here with five unruly children that want to cause a disturbance. So, they're all getting citations for no helmets on their bicycles. You're welcome to come here and get them. If not, he's going to ride home. Do you have any questions about that? Which bike is your bike? This one? Which bike is your bike? That's my bike. This one? And you lied to me being with them that day cuz I confirmed it after the fact. I'm sorry. Yo, the reason you're you're getting a citation, but the reason why is cuz you know why, right? We keep getting these calls about you guys. And we got to hold you guys accountable somewhat. >> I know, but So, saying you want to I mean, regardless, we got to get you some help. But, saying you want to hurt yourself It's time, bro. What is going on that caused you to say that? Well, it's not cuz of nothing, bro. It's just All y'all just say it's y'all, bro. What's that? Let me calm down. Take a breath, all right? Take a deep breath. You're not going to jail. Are you on probation? No. I don't know if you are or not, but believing that you are not, you're not going back to jail right now. You're just sitting here as we write you your tickets, man. That's it. Nobody is going to hurt you. We have to take you to the hospital now, but like you're not in any trouble or anything. All right, no. I'm just scared of y'all, bro. It's It's It's It's happened before, man. Y'all Y'all put y'all guns on me, and I just Told you what? Y'all put y'all guns on me, bro. It's happened before. Did something occur that >> Because no It's because my bike. It's happened It's happened already everywhere. Soon after, the teens' parents begin arriving on the scene one by one, with the rest being contacted by phone to come pick up their delinquent sons. As soon as they show up, however, things begin to escalate. As the officers soon find out exactly where these teens learned their unruly behavior from. Uh Are you there? Yes, I am. Which one? My mom. All right, mom's calling. Oh. Just going to miss it. That's cool. I got work. Mom, can I open it? Hi, good evening, ma'am. This is Deputy Finless Fire County. Yeah, he's going to get a ticket for riding a bike without a helmet. I've probably stopped him at least five times myself personally. I've been warning him every single time about that, and I believe I've given him a citation before for that already. So, So, he's the one who gave you the same citation for the helmet? Yep. So, there's nothing better to Palm Coast is where he's on a bike. I'm sorry, can you repeat that? We are on our way, and you were going to release him to us when we get there. That's not the way it works. Um, I mean, if I bring my lawyer as well, I'm sorry, I don't understand what the circumstances are that you can take my child. When your son tells law enforcement that he's going to kill himself, kill we place him under arrest. My son would not have said that. Or >> I'm not trying to be rude. I'm This is It's becoming a problem cuz these kids have nothing to do. They ride their bikes. >> Well, that's that's fine, but when they're causing issues, we have called out them every single >> are they causing? I don't know. It has your son. How about How about you talk to your son at home when he's got citations already for the fact, and figure out what he's doing? How many times have you been stopped? I've stopped him more than once myself. The only reason he said anything is because you harassed him. No one said anything to him at the time he said that, actually. Copy. I'm looking at this. I'm not even outside every single day. I'm sorry you feel that way. Can you say to me if I got something better to do? No, I don't. I got this to do right here. Cuz I bother people in the community every single day. I'm sorry. My son, right, got a helmet >> Yeah, he's going to get another one for $64, all right? It does matter. It wasn't his electric bike. He doesn't own one. You're driving a car, and you hit somebody, and you run away because it's not your car, does it matter? No. That has nothing to do with >> He committed a traffic He committed a traffic violation. >> bike. He's on a bicycle. Right, a bicycle. Can I explain the Florida law? Per Florida law, he needs to have a helmet if he's under the age of 15, which he is. So, he's in violation of Florida law. I do not care if he rides his bike without a helmet. I don't care. However, the issue lies when we get called here four or five times throughout the day. We have shootings going on. We have fights going on. We have And I'm stuck here with unruly kids that want to cause disturbances, block traffic, and disrupt the peace. Do you think I want to be here with a bunch of kids? bikes. Do you think I want to be here right now? >> If you go to the Wawa's on the other side of the >> want to file a complaint, go ahead. We're going to issue this citation. No problem. While escorting the detained juvenile to the back of a patrol car, his father makes a bold entry onto the scene and gives a whole new meaning to the saying, "Like father, like son." All right, [snorts] guys. Just watch your back. He's running up. Yo, calm down. Calm down. Cool it. Let's cool it. Get back. Get back. WITH ME. I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. I DIDN'T do nothing. I didn't do nothing. GOD DAMN. GET BACK. GET BACK. GET BACK. GET BACK. GET BACK. DO IT NOW. GET BACK. He's not even doing anything. Get back. >> No, I'm not getting back. Please take me off my back. No, I'm cooperating. You're under arrest. >> I'm cooperating. I'm cooperating. Ow. Ow. Ow. Why are you touching me, bro? You know what? Next time don't resist. I didn't resist. He put his hands on me. Get back. Get back. I'm not standing back. I told you to get back. You want to end up like him? Get back. >> I'm not resisting. I'm not My hands aren't on anything. Do not put your hands on me. That's how it starts. You back up. Tell her back up. This is an investigation. Tell her back up. What am I going to do? And what are you going to do to me? Hey guys. Hey hey guys. My left wrist is losing circulation. We'll fix it when we get to the car. Okay, thank you guys. What do you mean no? Why not? Given given your Why can't I take my fortune and go home? Stop walking behind me. You can stay back. Give me You can come back over by your car. It's his car. He'll go with him. Yeah, that's the key hanging out of my pocket. Yeah. You're going to jail for battery on law enforcement. I'm going to jail for battery? Who's got a body cam? You got a body cam? Did you see it? Why did He He put his hands out at me. First, I was talking to him. >> him in an aggressive manner. I was just running up because I saw him putting my kid in handcuffs in the back of the car. So, I wanted to talk to him. >> to you over the phone what happened. Oh, yeah. I freaked out on the phone. I apologize about that. >> All right, send them back. I haven't ate. I'm pretty pissed about all this. You haven't ate? Can you probably loosen it up now? Like that wasn't That was uncalled for. I agree. Like it was like just It's just moving back. Oh, let's talk about it. >> You see how we're talking? That's how an exchange should go. Okay. Right. And so, he's sitting outside the vehicle when we pulled up. But, running up and grabbing cops is not the way to go about it. Really? Cuz he grabbed my hand. He Can you put your hand in his face? Yeah, I said get back and he grabbed me. No, you pointed your finger at him. You act like that's not aggressive. Running up on law enforcement is aggressive. Are you Are you First the information we needed and blew out the portion. This is on y'all. Putting your kid in the back of the car for no He's coming over. You know what a Baker Act is, right? You said you Apparently, you know everything. You tell me what a Baker Act is and tell me we didn't do our job. Then why are we here? Why you got four cops? Why are you here? Cuz apparently All right, guys. Back up. Stop. Please. We're here. It's traffic court. Are y'all parents coming or no? All right, y'all get out of here. Y'all are free to go. My sister's on the way. Can I wait till she comes? His bond was set at $30,000, which he posted the following afternoon. As for the juveniles, four out of the total seven received citations totaling $65 [music] for riding without a helmet.
