On September 24th, 2025, in Fairview Heights, Illinois, an officer conducted a routine traffic stop. [ __ ] Fairview 187, my vehicle's just been hit. Start an ambulance. Hey, what happened? You tell me. I need a new car. Somebody ran into me, pushed my vehicle into the other vehicle. Start an ambulance, need a supervisor. Hey, come over here, buddy. Get out of the road. Here, have a seat real quick. Have a seat. You all right? >> Yeah, I'm all right. What happened, dude? I don't know, man. I I've been drinking. You've been drinking? Yeah, I've been drinking. Okay. >> And I took some weed pills. Some weed pills? >> Yeah. Okay. Anybody else in the car? No, it's just me. 187. Uh started tripping. Here, just sit down, man. Just sit down. >> All right. Driver tells me he's been drinking and took some weed pills. Here, let me get up. >> No, no, no. Sit down. Sit down. Okay. >> want you to get hit, okay? Hey, you guys all right up in there? All right, just hang tight, okay? [Applause] All right, just chill, okay? Okay. Were you wearing your seatbelt? Uh I don't know. But airbag went off, everything went off. You okay? I'm good. I didn't get hit. Okay, just checking. I appreciate you. Yep. 148 187, I was outside of my vehicle. Uh the occupants in the vehicle I stopped seem to be okay, also. Uh I have the driver of the unit one vehicle sitting on the ground right now. [Applause] [Music] Am I going to jail? Uh I didn't say that. Just hang tight. I'm I'm concerned that you're okay, all right? Yeah. What's up, bud? You all right, man? It's a nice car you just crashed. Are you the owner of that car? Yes, sir. What year is it? 2018. It was 2018. >> a 2018? Yeah. I ain't never been in a car accident like that. >> Yeah, that's pretty crazy, dude. Where you coming from? Huh? >> Where were you coming from? The Walmart up the street. O'Fallon? O'Fallon, yeah. Okay. All right. You and your passenger good though, right? Okay. >> got to eat safe. All right, I got You got some other guys coming, okay? 187, we do have some lane blockage on the southbound lanes. Yes, sir. Can I stand up? My head's getting light. >> Just sit down, man. You just in a bad accident. I want you I don't want you to get hurt. Okay? You wandering out in that traffic, somebody going to hit you. Somebody going to hit me. I got insurance. It ain't going to cover that though. I don't I don't know, but that's not what we're concerned about right now. Concerned about everybody's uh okay, all right? All right. You got your uh driver's license on you, man? Yeah. Can I see it real quick? You guys got pulled over or something? Yeah. Oh, okay. Where is your driver's license at, man? Is it still in the car? You got it on you? I got it on me. Can I see it real quick? I did that on purpose, sir. What, you hit me on purpose? Yeah, I did. >> Why is that? I'm bored. You're bored? I'm bored. Yeah, I checked him He's okay. All right, just hang tight, okay? 187, go. So 187. Uh I was going I was going home. 10-4. 343, he says he ran into me on purpose cuz he hates cops. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the St. Clair County jail. He's now facing several serious charges, including criminal damage to government property, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery with a motor vehicle. According to officials, the crash caused more than $10,000 in damage to the patrol SUV. And incredibly, no one was hurt, not even the officer who was nearly pinned between the two cars. The Illinois State Police are now handling the investigation. Jennings is being held without bond as the court determines whether he poses an ongoing threat to the community. The department called the incident a deliberate and dangerous attack on an officer who was just doing his job. Cases like this are rare, but they highlight how unpredictable even the most routine traffic stops can be and how close this officer came to serious injury or worse. This is one of those cases that makes you shake your head. A completely senseless act that could have ended in tragedy.
