Two days before the 2024 election day on
November 3rd, Orland Park police
officers in Illinois were dispatched to
the Orland Township office for a
reported assault in progress while
people were voting.
Yeah. Yeah. We That's why I'm
here. He punched her. Where's he at?
He hit her.
He assaulted me. You got it. You're not
leaving in peace. Yeah. Have a seat
right here. Sit back. I'm sitting over
here. Stand off. Sit here. Take a seat.
I'm just going to sit here for a minute.
No, I need to calm myself down. Stand
up. Stand up. Stand up. I'll go outside.
Let's just go outside. Just talk
outside. Let's talk outside. We're
talking right here. Let's go outside.
Please put your hands down. My hands are
down. What happened? I walked in the
building. I got in line. I see a friend.
So, I talk to her. This lady is telling
me I cut in line, whatever, whatever,
whatever. She's pushing on me. You cut,
you cut. And I'm like, I didn't see you
in line. Like, and then it became a
bigger problem as this lady in the blue
was pulling on me, touching me as I'm
walking in just trying to like, yo, I'm
not here the same thing as you. Like, I
I got other stuff to do here. And it's
like they they uh I'm walking. Can we
just talk outside, please? We're doing
it right now. Okay. Well, am I going to
be able to vote or not today? Okay.
Well,
you got mine. Whatever. I don't know.
Can you find that out? This dude was
screaming at me. He was screaming my
face. Don't [ __ ] You're not going to do
pushing on me. You're not going to do
[ __ ] You're not going to do pushing on
me. Pushing on me. That dude. What dude?
That old dude. And I'm like, dude, I'm
here to vote. They're letting all these
other [ __ ] people walk past like
saying I cut in line. He cut the line in
front of other people, okay? And other
voters were complaining, okay? Cuz we
have a line out the door. I'm the point
person here for the Cook County voting.
Okay? So, one of the ladies here by the
ballot box, she stopped him because the
other people complaining. He was in her
face pushing her. We stopped him from
voting. He goes, "I'm going to vote." I
says, "No, you're not. We're not going
to register." I called down to Cook
County. And then he tried pushing his
way through. As he tried pushing his way
through, I got in his way and then he
started screaming at me. So I screamed
back at him. Punched me in the face. Got
lots of witnesses.
Right here. Did you hit? They were at
their cars or some [ __ ] Did you? You
didn't hit anybody? No. It's not what
we're being told. Well, I don't want to
answer no questions right now. I need to
go home. Like, I need to get out of
here. You got your ID on you? No. You
don't have an ID? Then keep your hands
out your pockets. Okay. Well, I I I
mean, I got my voter ID. I thought
that's all I needed to come here and
vote. This isn't about voting. This is
about identifying who you are. As of
what reason? Because you're involved in
a criminal investigation right now. So,
if you don't want to identify yourself,
then we're going to go get locked up.
Okay. Well, if you get the other people
who are involved here, I will identify
myself. If not, you're not telling us
how to do our job. We We got several
people saying you punched somebody in
the face. That didn't happen. Okay. No.
So, all right. Take the backpack off for
me. Take the backpack off. Can we just
pull this off, please? Take it off. Take
it off. Hold on. There's nothing
illegal. I'm not going to hurt you. All
right. We're taking it. I'm taking it
off. I'll take it off. It's my backpack.
Why are you trying to restrain me right
now? Like, I'm not trying to cause no
problem. Stop resisting. I'm not
resisting. You haven't said [ __ ] You're
resisting. Am I under arrest or am I
free to go? Am I under arrest or am I
free to go? You're detained. Okay.
Extremely uncooperative. Am I free to
go? Let's No, you're not. You're
detained. Well, let's do it outside.
What? What are you doing? You see me
right here in the voting booth. For what
reason? Because this is where it's I
didn't break no laws. I was I was

[ __ ] all on video. It's on video, dude.
They're trying to break my [ __ ] arm.
I'm not resisting [ __ ] Watch out for
you. You want me to pull out like I
don't got nothing.
What are you doing? Stop. You're going
to break my wrist, bro. Shut up. Relax
your arms. Relax. Hold the nap. Food.
There's nothing illegal on me. Stop.

Please don't do that. Don't do that.
Get in the car.
All right. I got at least one eyeball
witness. I got his info. Who's the Who's
the lead on this now? All right. I need
my phone call. You'll get it. Don't
worry. Get in right now. Let me out this
car. Did we talk to anybody? Did Yeah,
he punched him in the face. Yeah, he
punched him in the face. There's There's
an independent witness to it. We'll get
him out of here. See if anybody's got

you got to worry about, bro. What's your
deal,

camera pointing at the dropbox for the
medical. Mhm. And I'll see how far right
we can go. Yeah. Can you? Yeah. We
pushed the other day. Where is she at?
She's shaking up. I think she's in the
kitchen. The kitchen. Is she a pole
worker or is she uh Yeah, she's a pork.
Okay. Hi, ma'am. Are you one of the ones
that was involved with that guy? You
okay? You okay? I got He's gone. He's
not here anymore. Okay. We took him out.
Do you need an ambulance?
He cut in line. So people were
complaining. So I went to him. I said,
"Sir, you have to go to the back of the
line." He says, "You're be grudging my
right to vote." I says, "No, I'm not.
I'm telling you to follow procedure. F
you." And I said, "Stop saying that
language because there's children,
although swear." And I said, "Have
respect for an 81y old lady." And he
didn't. He just kept on and on and on.
And then he reached over and he punched
punched my arm, too. He hit your arm.
Yeah. And then everybody from the mining
jumped in to try and help. Are you okay?
No, I'm fine. Okay. You don't need any
medical attention, anything like that.
All right. This guy had cut in line. We
asked him to go to the rear of the line.
And he says, "I'm in line right now." He
refused to back off. She said, "I'm
going to vote." And I says, "No, we're
not going to process you. You need to go
to the back of the line and then we'll
process you." That's when I believe you
got pushed and uh I stopped him. Uh she
stepped off to the side after he pushed
her and banged her and getting into the
wall. I stepped in. So he said, "Well,
[ __ ] you." And I said, "Fuck you back."
Then he took a swing and punched me in
the face. Okay. So he punched you on the
left side of your face. Do you have any
marks or anything? Well, just here.
Maybe a little bit red. Your glasses
went flying. My glasses went flying, but
they seem to be intact when picked them
up for me. So we just held them in the
wall, I guess, in that room until you
guys came. Okay. While an officer looks
at surveillance footage that
corroborates everything the victims
claim, the suspect arrives at jail.
Dude, I'm sorry, sir. I'm sorry, sir. I
didn't I didn't want that. Like, I did
not I did not mean for that to get to
that. Like, that was not You escalated
that dramatically, dude. Okay. I didn't
listen. Listen. Okay. Take a deep
breath. Last time I saw you, I will take
the cuffs off you, but you need to
understand. Yeah. What just happened? It
was [ __ ] four guys. Now, can I can I
stand? Okay. As long as you're going to
be cool. All right. Yeah. Bad. That was
bad. What's going on?
What are you angry about? I was mad that
they they were all blocking my way.
Okay. Well, they said you cut in line.
We got to wait in line right now. You're
here cuz you punched that guy. That's
battery. Okay. Then you're fighting with
us. That's resisting obstructing. That's
where we're at right now. Those are both
misdemeanor. Not a big deal. Don't
amplify this to something more. I don't
understand what is going on. Last time I
saw you, I dropped you a living room and
you got shower and you were better and
you're cool. I didn't even get that.
It's What happened? They kicked you out?
No, it wasn't like that. I asked I was
like, "Yo, this guy said I could get a
shower." No, you got They didn't let you
take a shower. I mean, I asked. I don't
know if there was one open or not. It
doesn't really matter. Like, what's
going on today? It doesn't matter. I got
a shower now. I don't What are you amped
up for? I feel like I'm not I don't
What's going on today? I'm pissed. Like,
I don't I don't got my ID. I don't got
none of that. Like, I don't I need to
[ __ ] I need to do [ __ ] Like, I need
to get out. I need to be in the
community. I need to have a good job.
them and trying to work for the Marines.
They ain't [ __ ] giving me good like
they ain't really I they you know I'm
saying too much. I'm not saying too
much. I want you to say more because I
need I mean I I don't think this is
helping. Like I I'm still handcuffed in
a garage like surrounded by three
officers. Listen, I'm here because I
have a history with you and I want to
make sure you're calm when we go in
there. I am. Well, how long are we going
to be in there? Cuz I got to like I got
to I got to I got to do Yeah, let's go.
Can you uncuff me, please? Let me get
you the side. We're going to take the
handcuffs off. Okay. It'll make me feel
a lot better if you walk in first. I'm
not I'm not trying to Come on. That's
not how the policy work. I got to let
you walk in first. I walk behind you.
You're not going to do nothing to me.
I'm not going to do anything to you.
Swear on your badge. Swear on
everything. Swear on God. Swear to God.
Swear to God. I'm not going to do
anything. Stand on the You're literally
getting handcuffed, dude. I'm just
walking behind you here. Stand in the
land. What's going to happen to you?
Only reason you're handcuffed. For me,
then it's for you. That's That's what
you have. I'm trying to take the
handcuffs off you. I need some water or
something. Yeah. Well, we got to get
through this first. Okay. So, you come
on the line. We're going to search you
again. Okay. It's protocols, dude. We
can't get past it. Everything is on
camera now. So, we have to do everything
the right way. Everything was on camera
in there. Everything's Listen, this
thing was on the entire time while we're
in there. All right. Here. Listen. I'm
serious. No more of that. Okay. What's
going to happen after you take him off?
I'm going to search you. Can I get my
phone call? Absolutely. Once we get
through this though, we have to get
through this first. Let us search you
first. You can go make your phone call
immediately. I need to talk to a lawyer.
Why don't you talk to lawful? It is
lawful. Like I don't feel this is a
lawful search. It is lawful. You're
under arrest. I told you I'm not You're
under arrest. I don't have anything. I'm
not trying to hurt nobody. So wasn't I
wasn't trying to hurt nobody.
They were blocking my way from the exit
as abuse. As soon as we're done
searching you, you can make a phone call
your way. You can call whoever you want.
We got to get We have to get your person
your pocket. Okay. Well, I have nothing
on me. What are you worry about?
Okay. Take this off. I'm taking this to
off. Are you sure? It makes it easier
for us. Like you you both don't
understand that I wasn't trying to cause
you all understand. I wasn't trying to
cause no problems, right? I didn't say
that you were, but when you punch
somebody, that's why we went there.
Can't just punch the guy. If someone's
grabbing on me when I when I'm trying to
like
That's what you can tell the judge.
That's fine. You can't punch a He's a
official and you hit him. I got to
search you. I got nothing. Just put your
hands in here. I have I have to do it.
It's the part. Put your hands on top of
your head. I mean, okay. I got nothing.
Leave your hands up here.
How long? Sorry, I didn't mean How long
am I being contained for? I don't know,
but the longer we argue, the longer it's
going to
take. There's nothing in there. I
promise you there's nothing in there.
Well, I have to do it, man. You want to
make the call? Yes, please. Okay, we're
going to walk over to that phone. Okay.
Can I just use the bathroom first or
like I I need to look at what's going
on. You want the bathroom? The phone,
man. I need water. We'll get you water.
We'll get you what? Follow him.
Bathrooms are in the cell. Is there
water? We'll get you water. Oh, water.
Do you need to use the bathroom? I just
need some water on my face. I can do
that. I can. Okay.
Okay. So, you want to follow up? I need
your wrist. You need to be handcuffed at
the moment. You do not get to walk
freely in here. Okay. Give me your
wrist. I'm putting the handcuff on. We
You said we're not doing this again. I
don't I don't You keep doing this. Do
you want the phone call or the All
right, then. I have to handcuff you
while you're at the phone. You do not
get to walk around freely back here. Do
you want to sit down and have a glass of
water? All right. You're still going to
sit down and be handcuffed? Hello. You
have to be handcuffed.
There are no hands. Doesn't matter. You
have to be handcuffed. So, what do you
want? You want water? You want phone?
What do you want? Uh,
water. Okay, then have a seat. We're
going to handcuff you while you're
seated and we'll give you a glass of
water. I mean, I there's no lawyer.
Like, I I need a lawyer. Okay. Not for
this. You don't have a seat. You want
water? Have a seat. Okay. Water. Okay.
Sit down.
Put on like you guys. You want to put it
on? Put it on. Yeah. Put it on. That's
fine.
Can I get the water, please? Yeah. See,
it's not that hard, dude. Wanted not to
touch me. And they were ignoring
my like
no more. I'm good. I need a lawyer or I
need I need I need I I need You need
what? I need to leave. You're not
leaving. Well, when am I going to be
able to leave? When you get
processed. How can I play these games
with you? Are you not in company? No.
And when people are voting, you know, it
can be a tense environment anyway. And
when I vote, I like to get there early
so I can get in and out because people
do look stressed out, especially in
these last few elections. And unless
it's just me, the environment always
seems like something can happen at any
minute. But violence should never take
center stage. But when you have long
lines and people bringing up heated
debates, I guess anything's a
possibility. And of course, cops here
assaulting progress over dispatch over
and over. So, I guess it was just a
matter of time before we see footage
from a polling place. And we already
know that we live in a time that people
cannot even peacefully disagree anymore
because many people are super sensitive
over what they believe. But the scary
part is certain people bring these
emotions with them when it's time to
vote because this guy in the video had
nothing but attitude and he couldn't
even follow simple instructions. And my
guess is he wanted to go outside so he
can try and run. And I've seen it
before, the tone, the shifty eye
movement and his posture. They were all
dead giveaways of what he wanted to do.
And seasoned cops know this and that's
why he ended up in cuffs before he got
the chance to cause any real problems.
But what really peed me off about this
guy is the disrespect that he had for
the older people. But unfortunately,
this is the reality of our times and
this is the way certain people act. And
this is why I'm loving this because when
John was out there, I didn't have a body
cam. So suspects could try and twist the
narrative and say that they were calm
and cooperative when they clearly
weren't. But after his ride to the
station, reality and the fact that these
officers saw what really happened began
to sink in. And the more time that
passes, these body cameras are just
going to get better and better. And
that's great for the suspect and for the
officers. And whether it's a body camera
or another camera, someone's lie is not
going to hold up. This suspect, Daniel,
was charged with aggravated battery,
resisting, obstructing, disorderly
conduct, breach of peace, and aggravated
battery to a senior citizen. He is
innocent unless proven guilty in a court
