You, stop. Stop. Stop. >> Got it. Kind of. >> Yeah, I know. Yeah. Turn around. You're under You're under arrest for fleeing and eluding law enforcement. >> What? >> I walked out, flagged you down, told you to stop, and you rapidly accelerated away from me. >> What? >> Yes. >> It starts like so many viral police encounters do. Confidence, attitude, and the belief that rules don't really apply. On October 3rd, 2025, that mindset collided with reality. 19-year-old Tara Ashley Palmieri, a Florida teen living her best life, allegedly ignored an officer, Florida white 2024 Mustang, and fled through a no passing zone. When it's over, she calls her dad for help. The lecture she gets is brutal. And if you follow real police encounters like this, hit like, subscribe, and join the community. Officer Riera first signaled her to stop on the highway, but the Mustang kept moving. Eventually, he located the car parked in a residential area. He found Tara, the driver, and the confrontation was about to begin. >> 15 Delta 21, just confirming you're at the police department. When I tried to confirm, he didn't answer. I see the vehicle, but I don't see him anywhere. 15 Delta 31, 15 Delta 31. >> Hi there. Do you guys know whose white Mustang this is? >> Uh tell her to come out. Yeah, whatever. >> I'll I'll let him know in a second. >> Oh, okay. It's my daughter's car. Okay. Yeah, can you have him step out? Hi. Do I look familiar? Yeah, I know. Yeah. Turn around put your hands behind your back. >> The body cam told the full story. No questions needed. Tara is cuffed and arrested on the spot. >> Turn around put your hands behind your back. You're You're under arrest for fleeing and eluding law enforcement. >> What? >> I walked out, flagged you down, told you to stop, and you rapidly accelerated away from me. >> What? >> Yes, ma'am. It's all on body cam. >> Cuz you just >> Nope, I walk I walked out of the road and was telling you to stop. >> out on the road. You >> And I was telling you to stop. It's all on body cam. You're under arrest for fleeing and eluding law enforcement. Come here. >> Can I just call her mom? >> Yeah, you can call her mom. Is that Is that on her phone right there? I am a law enforcement officer, fully uniformed, telling you to stop because you're passing all those cars in a double yellow. You No, you passed multiple. It doesn't matter. I You still fled law enforcement. And then you rapidly accelerated as you went by me. You didn't stop and do anything. Didn't even hit the brakes. >> No, I was going the speed limit. >> Next, she asks for a supervisor, maybe thinking a higher rank could magically change the outcome. It doesn't. She then calls her dad. >> Can I talk to someone else? >> It was just me there. I don't know who you want to talk to. Who do you want to talk to? >> Maybe a supervisor? >> Yeah, he's on his way. You're more than welcome to. That's fleeing and eluding law enforcement. Go and sit down for me. Do you have anything on you cuz I have a female that's going to come search you. Okay. Um Huh? Oh, yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, no, I literally was at at I hear her car accelerating rapidly, so I look and she's in the middle of passing vehicles. Coming back over, I'm in the road. Hands up, telling her to stop. Clearly look like a law enforcement officer. No brakes, no no lights, nothing. She just keeps going, guns it. So. >> Okay. >> Probably expecting a hero moment. Instead, she gets a full-on lecture. Turns out the law isn't the only thing schooling her today. >> You're arresting me for fleeing and eluding. I parked in a double line and then a officer came I said, "I'm getting arrested because an officer said I was fleeing and eluding. I was driving on He came out and ran in front of like he he half ran in front of like like he didn't even fully run in front of my car. And then um now I'm getting arrested for it because I parked in because he said I was fleeing, but he wasn't even behind me with lights on or anything. >> Doesn't matter. Don't need to be. I absolutely don't need to have lights and sirens activated. I'm a fully uniform law enforcement officer telling you to stop. >> Did you have lights on when you stopped? I did. I don't know. >> Can I talk to him? Officer Riera. >> Okay. >> Hey there, it's Officer Riera with the Newport Beach Police Department. >> Do you think he had lights on? >> When Officer Riera Officer Riera with the Newport Beach Police Department. >> Am I being detained? >> Okay, good good. So So literally I'm in the middle of the road and I'm a fully uniform police officer telling her to stop. Not only does she not even apply the brakes, she rapidly accelerates away from from me to the point I have to run, get jump in my car which was parked several hundred feet away cuz I was investigating a hit-and-run crash. And now all of a sudden she's gone nowhere. So then I obviously find the car and make contact with her. So I don't need to have lights and sirens on behind or anything like that. I'm a fully uniform police officer. I was giving clear hand signals to stop and I have a witness who was the victim of my hit-and-run crash who watched the entire thing. So you know, of course that meets statutory requirements for for fleeing and eluding. I I I don't mean to be a jerk about it or anything like that, but that's that's where we're at, okay? >> Um how far did she go from when you tried to gesture her to stop? >> Over a mile. So she didn't try to pull off the road down the street, nothing like that. >> Did she Did she Was she able to see you or >> Oh, yeah. I am I am in a I am in a She just told me I saw him in my uniform, then so that's all I need. Like Cuz and I know she saw me because I was about in the middle of the road to where she would before she would run me over. So, I didn't want to get run over cuz she was already doing 65 plus. So, Yeah, I have everything I need for fleeing and eluding. It is what it is. So, she she can take it to court. It's going to go to court no matter what, but that that's what I have. It meets statute requirements. That that's what we're doing, okay? >> Okay. Can you put her back on the phone? >> Yeah, you're on speaker. >> Hi. >> All right. So, you you'll probably be in in in jail for the weekend then. >> Yeah, okay. >> So, because you you're not going to get get out right away. Why were you going that fast down the street? >> I I passed one car. I passed one car cuz he was going like 30 and I passed him. >> So, why didn't you pull over at the time when he waved you down to stop? Why didn't you stop? >> Cuz it wasn't like he was I I didn't even I really didn't even know. I just saw a person in white black and then >> Doing this. Whole >> one hand out and it wasn't like he was in front of my car like that. He was just He like literally was from the side, like completely to the side. I wasn't going 60. That's a hearsay. I was not going 60. From 30 to 60, I can't just do that when I'm in the other line going over to the other side. >> He didn't. He didn't. He came over and found my car and pulled >> It's all on body cam, sir. I was almost in the roadway. The reason I didn't go all the way in the roadway is cuz she was going so fast. I didn't don't to get hit by her cuz obviously I could see that she was not slowing down. >> That's was a what he thinks. >> Okay. >> I'm actually an instructor for speed measurement, so smart. >> I'm not laughing. >> I wouldn't be laughing. It's a felony. You committed a felony. Don't laugh at that. >> Yeah, I mean you you're being cocky. You're not even being polite. You're not even using manners. >> Well, this has been her the entire time, sir. >> I know. That's what I don't get with her. It's just totally ridiculous. So, you you don't understand what you just did. [laughter] >> I do. >> Oh, you do, do you? Really? Like how how do you understand what you're doing? Cuz you're being a smart ass the whole time to me, too. So, I can only imagine how you're speaking to the officer. >> It's all It's all on body cam. I've been trying to be respectful to her, but >> Right. I don't get it. Like so, you just totally just screwed yourself inside and out for what you just did. Big time, cuz now your car's going to get towed to the impound again. I need to get that out, too, now. >> Yeah, you should have let me go. >> Yeah, but there's going to be a 30-day hold on it. There's going to be a 30-day hold on it. >> So, so your nursing stuff is going to be screwed up now, too, because you don't have no damn manners. And you know what? It's going to take something like this to [ __ ] you up now, and now you're done, because you're so god damn arrogant and cocky the whole damn time when you >> Go ahead. Talk to the officer normally, but you had to be a real jerk, didn't you? >> This is >> I know you Yeah, officer. He's got the body cam on. So, you just totally screwed your whole [ __ ] up. Nursing degree, everything. You just did it because you you're being invincible. But guess what? You're going to spend a weekend in jail, and you'll see how invincible you are. And you know what? Might teach you a lesson now, maybe. You know? Cuz you just don't listen. >> I am. >> DON'T LISTEN. HE'S GOT THE COP IN HIS BODY CAM, OKAY? >> KID, DID YOU HEAR YOUR DAD? >> YES, SIR. >> All right, so when you get to jail, you get one phone call. >> your instructions. >> So, you better hurry up and figure out who you going to call, you know, to to get you out of jail. >> [laughter] >> So, when you call your mom and start bitching at her and stuff, she going to make you sit. You call me, I'll make your ass sit, too, because I'm not putting up with this [ __ ] You know, you you got an attitude. >> I'm going to change. >> You got to change. It's ridiculous. That's what I mean your game changer. You know, you could have been probably polite to the officer from the get-go and you probably wouldn't be in the situation you are right now. And I bet if you ask the officer that, your cockiness is probably what put you in that position right there. I guarantee it. >> All right, um she's getting searched right now by a female deputy. Uh do you have anything else for her? If not, we're going to we're going to load her up and do some paperwork, okay? >> Okay, thank you, sir. >> Yes, sir. After the dressing down from Tara's dad and a search by a female officer, the rapport between Officer Riera and Tara begins. Actually, so you got jewelry on? Um do you want to leave that with them and not bring it into the jail like the earrings and stuff and your necklace? Cuz they're cuz they're going to take it all off when you get there. >> Can I take it out? >> Yeah, so well, well, do you want to just What are you to her? Friend, sister? >> Yes, I'm >> So, do you want her to Do you want her to take everything off and leave it with her? >> Okay, well, we we can keep the earrings in. >> Are the earrings going to get taken out? >> Yeah, but don't you want prisoner property at the branch jail, though? >> Well, I don't I'd rather her hold them. >> Okay. So, if I uncuff you, you got to take them out. You're not doing anything. All right. I'm going to cuff her in the backseat. She's She's like that. She's kind of talkative. You wouldn't You wouldn't be smart to run anyway, so. >> with that the whole situation with Shelby and your phone? >> Yeah, I don't mind. >> And is your guys' pool car available or not? >> It should be. I mean, it won't take you that long, will it? >> It's all right. You can just go straight up there. >> No, it shouldn't take that long. >> I mean, it I know how Jenkins is, so he's he's going to want me to transport my own arrest. >> All right. >> Yeah, it's free. >> It's supposed to have been here around 12. I guess not. >> No, there's no >> No, I don't have it. >> I don't know where it is. It's in my >> Whose phone did I just give you? >> It's all on my phone, too, on the previous signal three, so it's like >> What did I just hand you back? >> Yeah. >> That's mine. >> Oh, this is mine. >> Oh, he already has your phone, I guess. >> Yeah, we we already got it cuz she wanted to take that. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, starting the trans like this to get a front seat. >> for a while now. >> Pretty. >> What's wrong with my face? >> I'm being very nice. >> Cuz normally they're behind bars. Can you pop these off? >> Uh, just let me know. >> Come on. >> I'm double locking the way out of the cell. We're going to go to his vehicle right here. >> Once she leaves her jewelry with her family, Tara is placed in a patrol vehicle for transport to the station. She appears calmer and even engages in casual conversation with the officer. >> Yeah, I don't want you to sell my seat belt. I'm just going to buckle you in. Um Do you have enough AC? >> Oh, yeah, it's cold back here. What's your name? >> My name is Officer Gott. >> Nice to >> How long have you been a police officer? >> Uh little little almost 11 years. >> Do you like it? >> Oh, absolutely love it. I mean, if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be I wouldn't be doing it for 11 years. >> How long do you think I'll be there? >> Well, it depends. I'm pretty sure that it's a third-degree felony, so you'll have a bond. So, a couple hours, then you'll be able to bond out. So, it shouldn't shouldn't take that long. >> Why does he wear white and you wear black? >> He is the motor unit. He is the one that deals with traffic and traffic only. So, his expertise is in traffic. So, pulling people over, speeding, crashes, that's what he does. >> Okay. And then, like, you take people to jail or like other stuff? Like shoplifting or stuff like that? >> That's what I do. >> Yeah. Is it always like that? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah, everywhere you go. At night, you don't have motor unit, which is what he is. >> Oh, really? >> You don't have motor unit at night, so we do take crashes at night and stuff. >> Is there a reason for that or just >> That's just the way this guy patrol is. But, it also depends on the agency that you're with. Motor unit, I mean, the biggest thing about motor unit is you have a you're on a motorcycle nine times out of 10. So, having a motorcycle, riding a motorcycle at night is not the safest. >> Yeah. >> 9:15 Central Precinct copy my traffic. >> Correct. >> And then you said he's going to get me after? >> Yeah, he's got to type out the report and everything. >> And then I go to Daytona? >> Yep. Have you been there before? >> No. >> Love it. >> I've been to the courthouse, but I don't think that's the same thing. >> Yeah, that's Yeah, that's being held at >> By this point, she seems more concerned about her Mustang than her bond, asking what will happen to her car. >> So, my car is going to be on a 30-day hold after the two hours. Is there anything to do about that or no? >> The only thing that you can do is wait for the 30 days to be up before you can pull it out of the the wrecker yard. >> Okay. Do you know where it's going to be or no? >> Uh it should be Universal Towing. >> Will I get all that information or no? >> Yeah, I'll get a hold of that information and give it to you. I'll be Let me double-check. Yep, Universal. Do you know where that's at? >> No. >> All right, I'll pull up the address for you. >> Thank you. Is it always a 30-day hold? >> It usually depends. Um Like those options. It usually depends. It depends on the situation. So, um he's saying 30-day hold because of the way everything uh transpired. So, it just kind of really depends. Um Yeah. >> Is it in New Smyrna the place or is it in Daytona? >> Universal Towing? >> Yeah. >> It's in uh Port Orange or Port Orange Port Orange. >> Okay. >> Uh the address is 830 Commonwealth Boulevard. Do you know where that's at? >> No. >> Okay. Do you need me to write it down and put it in your property? >> If you could. >> Yeah. >> Thanks. And is my key getting taken with it, too, or will I be able to get my key and like get stuff out of it? >> So, [clears throat] the key's got to stay with the car. >> Okay. >> So, when you get there, um basically all you do is just get the key, pay for whatever needs to be paid for, get the key, and drive it off. >> After a few more minutes, they roll into the police department. >> What's that? Wow. NSBPD one female. No, I'll throw it away. Oh, you're lucky. There's only like one person here. Normally, if you see a Daytona PT van, you're going to be sitting here for a while. Yeah, I've sat here 6 hours one time for processing and stuff. Go ahead and step out. We're going to go on the right side of this car. >> Okay. I'm just going to I'm just going to drive you over here cuz I don't get any reception when I'm near the building on my laptop, so. >> The officer then heads over to give the chief the full rundown, start to finish, no details skipped. >> What's up, Chief? >> She what? >> She what? I literally like >> She 15? Can you tell? >> No, she's like 19. Well, she's in a clapped-out Mustang GT. Yeah, so I'm investigating a signal three at Clubhouse and Pioneer. All of a sudden, I just hear this car like rapidly accelerating and I'm like I look and she's passing a line of cars over the double yellow. I I'm pretty much in the roadway telling her like stop, stop. And just accelerating away from me. Admitted the entire thing. Like I've known the family for for a long time. Played football with her older brother. >> Yep, I know your dad, I know your brother I very well. >> Did you play baseball like football with him? >> Well, I played football with for a long time. >> Yeah. >> I follow him on Facebook. >> Yeah. >> If the crime I'm charging with wasn't a felony, I could have just wrote you a ticket and been done with it, but unfortunately, since it's a felony no matter what, I have to make a physical arrest. But you have like zero criminal history, right? >> Yeah. I mean, one time I shoplifted when I was 16, but I don't think it's on there. >> Did they charge you with anything or no? >> No. Can this get expunged or anything? >> Maybe potentially, if you have no criminal history or anything like that. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, then they they might work with you. Do you want the windows up like that or down like that or do you >> It's fine like that. >> Okay. >> It's fine like that. The camera's kind of covered by that thing. I don't know if that matters. >> Well, if it makes it any better, uh that was my captain texting me. I'm probably getting in trouble because of how fast I was going looking for you. >> Uh-huh. >> Cuz by the time I got back into my car and to to go after you, >> Mhm. >> you were so far gone. I I was like the sirens. I was doing over 100. So, I'm probably getting in trouble for that now. >> Mhm. >> So, that makes you feel any better? >> I don't think I was speeding. I mean, I wasn't looking down. >> Listen, I'm not charging you with any speed or anything like that, but you were definitely I visually estimated you at about 60. Easily. >> What's the speed limit on that road? >> In the end, she was taken into custody for fleeing and eluding law enforcement and for disobeying a no passing zone sign. Bond was set at $2,500. She is currently out on bond and awaiting trial. What do you think? Drop your thoughts in the comments and don't forget to like and subscribe for more real body cam stories.
