March 4th, 2025 in Florida, police were called after a CVS pharmacist was caught stealing and using their meds for a couple of years. >> Yeah, they have it here. I'm happy to talk to them though. Yeah. Take that. 1598. >> I got a key in that pocket. [clears throat] Is this your backpack here? This >> the way. >> You're You're in top diamond, but what are you missing? I just mean >> and >> and >> see asking footage. >> Swing statement footage. >> What do you say? >> Swing statement. >> Um, >> you use our business address. Yeah, I'll pop up and say >> what's your position here? >> District asset protection manager was a national club diversion manager. >> Corporate. >> All right. So, I need your ID as well. >> Who initiated the invest? >> I did because I'm the joint investigator. >> CVS. >> How did CVS find all the services? >> Yeah. So, we do periodic counts on controlled substances. Um, about a week and a half ago, I think it was this store. We do what's called cycle counts. So, when they cycle count it, it matches to what they should have in stock. If there's a difference, it flags it and then the pharmacy managers have the ability to escalate it to us to take a look at. So about a week and a half ago, a pharmacy manager in this store had a flag on local 5 milligram where was showing like 349 tablets off. She escalated that to us. They came to me and I was assigned the investigator for it. Um I started looking at it. I went through all the past cycle counts um for what we call the inventory period which mean for us we uh we inventory control substances every May 1st. So from May 1st to now, I could see what we call negative cycle counts. So where it looked like somebody was actively taking it. So I started narrowing it down to who it could be. Um watching video, see what pinpoint it could be. Then I found Sylvia on video actually ingesting it. So you'll see her remove it from the bottle, actually pop a pill, um swig it down with her water. And then there are other times where she'll >> So when they do a prescription, they put them in marked vials with a label on it and a bag with a label on the bag, right? But there are times when she would count it out, put it in an unmarked vial, then hide that vial underneath the counter, and then later she'd pour it in her hand or pour it in her pocket, >> then leave the store. >> Um, so the video in this store goes back to January the 9th. That's the earliest recorded day that we have, right? And just about every shift that I watch on her, there were times where she was doing this after close after everybody left at night. So the store store usually during the week closes at 7:00. She would stay till almost 8:00 and sometimes during that period when there was nobody back there with her >> should do this. >> All right. I'm not going to ask you for all 30 days or whatever where the video just two or three videos of her actually. >> Yeah, they're small. See how I'm taking adjusting whatever. Okay. Um, I also need a receipt of how much these these narcotics are worth. >> Okay. >> Um, I don't mind. So, I can >> print out individual with my quantity. I also have a written statement from her. >> So, perfect. >> Did she have been in there? >> Yeah. Okay. >> I can make you a copy of this, too. If you guys are taking evidence with you, >> some jurisdiction. Did she sign this on camera or just >> No, there's no came on. >> No, there's a signed witness. >> He witnessed I took it. It's in my handwriting for the questions of her handwriting. >> I got her on camera admitting to it. Anyway, I'll take this her copy of it. >> Thank you. You don't have any indication that she's diverting this for sale. Think it's just self-medicating. Yeah, you could see her self-medicating at night to calm down, I guess, probably, you know, when she goes home, >> right? >> She stated that she was taking it because to help relieve stress um and go home and calm down at night. Um was she taking it? She said she'd been doing it for the last two to three years. Um and she admitted to ingesting it and admitted to taking it home in her pocket. >> Right. Perfect. And it was over a period of three years or >> over two to three years. She couldn't remember exactly. She said two and a half two to three years >> when she admitted to um uh 300 um >> opening 10 milligram 100 um opening 5 milligram 30 alpis 25 30 um alpha lam.5 and 10 alpam 1 milligram but she couldn't that's her best guess she couldn't remember the exact ladies all right so we just took her on what she was telling us on that Finally. >> So in the system it shows that all those pills were >> more than that. >> More than that. >> A lot more than that. >> That's just what she admitted to. >> That's just what she admitted to. Yes. >> Perfect. Do >> you have a primary doctor? >> No, I don't. >> Do you get benefits here? >> Yes, I did. Did. Yeah. >> I do. >> Do your benefit you get health benefits? >> Mhm. Not anymore. >> Does that cover should have went to a doctor? My husband always tell me to go to the doctor. Is your husband aware of this? >> No, he's not. >> Please don't tell. Well, I got to find out now. >> Okay. >> You're not going to >> What What is uh What does CVS charge for one Alcrazel thing? >> I don't even know. I'll tell you the truth. >> It's not a It's not a money thing. It's not that I sell them or anything. So, I really don't know how much it is. >> It's not a money thing for you. It's a money thing for them. That's why I'm asking >> if you know. >> I don't know. I'm bad at numbers and I don't know. >> Could be a dollar, could be 50 cents. I I don't know. >> I don't know. >> How old are you? >> 65. >> 65. >> And how long you been working >> in this store? Like 15 years in general for CVS. I worked for CVS and Acura. So it's 30 years for being a pharmacist with the company. >> Okay. That's your position pharmacist. >> Staff pharmacist. Correct. >> I'm so sorry. Stupid. >> You don't have to apologize to me. >> I know. Well, I apologize to my husband and the family and the company and everybody else. It was so stupid. >> People make mistakes to it, but you know, if you uh if you have a so there's like there's kind of two sides of it, right? If you have a drug problem, then obviously you want to seek help for that, >> right? >> You know, and then if you feel the need that you need to be prescribed this medicine, then I would probably get in touch with >> Sure. primary care physician and what do you have what are you anxious about >> the job it's very stressful they want they have like quotas to me and then I stay late come in early I mean I I come in like an hour early every day to get the work done and then stay like at least 2 hours an hour to two hours depending >> help me understand cuz I'm totally to the job they have quotas >> oh you have to you have to uh it's like you're beating the clock you You have to do so many prescriptions per day within a certain period of time and you have to meet all the goals and the deadlines and the amount of prescriptions and you have to timely manner. >> Wouldn't that be dependent on them bringing patients for medications? >> Well, like if you're a slower store that okay, maybe >> I figured but I I just didn't know there was a quota aspect to it. >> Oh yeah, they it's all numbers. It's numbers. >> And are you salaried? >> I Yeah, I'm salary. Okay. Well, yeah, pretty much. >> Are you considered part-time or full? >> No, I'm a full-time. Full-time staff. [clears throat and cough] >> Where do you live? >> I live in that one block. live in the middle of that block in the middle of the street. >> Is your husband still working? >> He's a realtor. >> So, this was never something that you were selling for extra money or anything. I don't know what the charge is going to be exactly. >> That's what I was thinking. There's different [clears throat] with it. So, >> I don't know if they can get it like a count. It's over. It raises the the level of it. >> That's only like applicable that I could think right now. >> Huh? >> I said that's only applicable that I could think right now. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> It would be that. >> Yeah. That was my initial ask question. [clears throat] >> How many years of schooling did you do for for like five? It was over 35 years ago. Now it's like eight eight years now. Yeah. You have to get a doctor or pharmacy. Back when I went it was just regular BS. >> Oh, [cough and clears throat] >> it's a lot of stuff to learn. >> Different medications, the side effects. >> Yeah. What's your name? >> Sylvia. >> So, I got a question for you, Sylvie. [clears throat] >> So, [snorts] you know they have cameras in here, right? >> Okay. >> Stupid. I know. >> So, what's done is done. >> You're already in handcuffs, >> right? So, now's the time to really like be honest, right? You've been You're Miranda, right? Right. >> I'm trying to be honest. >> Okay. You know, they have cameras in here, >> right? >> Yeah. >> Do you know what year it is? >> Yeah. 2025. >> Do you know who the president is? >> Yeah. Donald Trump. >> You know what city you're in? >> I'm Wayne Beach. >> How many quarters are in the dog? >> Four. >> So, your your cognitive abilities there? >> Yeah. I mean, I'm 65 years old and I need to know I've been in cops. I'm facing charges. >> So, the charge you're more than likely going to be facing is what's called organized scheme to defraud. >> Oh, goodness gracious. >> Okay. It's a it's it's a felony. >> Oh my god. >> So, it's pretty serious. >> That is serious. spend the rest of my life in jail. >> I mean, that's not to me. >> But >> is that what they're pressing for? >> I mean, that's what the crime is. >> So, >> just want to let you know where where we're at. >> Not good. >> I was just [clears throat] waiting until you were all good. Okay. So, they going to do the [clears throat] training training thing out there. >> I don't know if you got something. >> Sounds good. >> Where is your property? >> Where right now? My bag and my sweatshirt is in the pharmacy as well as my phone. >> Is there anything that we're going to find in there that shouldn't be in there? >> No. No medicine. Did you take any medicine today? >> No. >> Are you sure? >> Mhm. >> Thank you, guys. >> They ended up charging her with organizing a scheme to defraud. Do you think she might have been selling some of the meds to try and make a profit because that was a lot that she stole over the span of 3 years? Share your comments below and like and subscribe.
