The fact that you're and just out of this is >> [music] >> quite frankly alarming. He's got a swollen ankle, his face is all red, his head is he's got is because of you. Because you're angry and you can't deal with it. >> Investigators say this mother was accused of doing something far more disturbing behind closed doors. >> It's about six hits right there. Okay? Um And then you're telling him to get his hands down. >> Right. >> What does that mean? >> Because he that's where he I was but he was doing this. Ow. Ow. Ow. Or he's throwing himself down on the ground. Going ow. Ow. Ow. >> Well, why do you care if his hands are up? You can't hit him on the butt. >> I wanted him to answer my question and look at me. He does this. Ow. Ow. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. >> When you're just pulling a 14-year-old who's hysterically crying. >> Okay. I'm not pulling my 14-year-old And it you're hearing the audio that sounds worse than it is. But no, should I be sitting there arguing and cussing him out? No. I don't want to cuss him out. I don't want to. I want to have him just listen and tell the truth and not fight with me. >> Okay. But if he's listening to him, okay? If you want him to listen, wouldn't some other means of communication rather than just continuously striking him, striking him. He is not able to catch his breath. From what I was told, you also grabbed him at around the neck. I'm not saying you choked him, but you grabbed him by the neck. You also pulled him by the back of his shirt, which restricted his airway. You >> No, I pulled him from the front of his shirt to have him stand up. >> Okay, according to him, the bruise on his arm and the bruise on his shoulder is from the altercation with you, okay? Not from him throwing himself on the ground. And even if he threw himself on the ground, he's defending himself from his mother pulling him with a sandal. So, that's still from you. He's got a swollen ankle, his face is all red, his head is bruised, he's got injuries because of you. Because you're angry and you can't deal with it. And the fact that you're and just beat the out of this is quite frankly alarming. And then what are you doing? >> I'm staying with the baby. >> Do you hear this? >> I vaguely. >> You vaguely. How big is your house? 17,000 sq ft? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. >> 20-2300 >> 2300 sq ft, okay. You and you can't hear your son's screaming asking for help. Basically begging her to stop. And you're just fine with this. >> He acts like that in a verbal altercation, any kind of altercation. >> Did you hear her striking him? >> No. >> Okay. All right. I'm pretty sure everybody heard it. That's why we got three complaints about it to DCF about the ongoing and violent abuse for especially the the him, but also Okay, and I don't know what the history is It's not why I'm here, that's why she's here. Reason I'm here is because you beat the out of him. It was unnecessary, it was malicious, and it was ongoing for unreasonable period of time. We're talking 4 minutes. 4 minutes. I got tased for 5 seconds and that was an unreasonable amount of time. Okay, you beat him for 4 minutes. That's just what's on video. The fact that you won't show us the ring the ring video, you don't think that that's a little alarming? >> It's because that I I >> Have you seen the video? It's on the ring cameras. Have you seen the video of her beating him on there? The audio is there, the video is there. You're you're okay with this? You heard him. >> I don't have to make a statement right now. >> You don't have to make a statement. You're not in custody and you you can you're free to move. But you're a you're a man, are you? Are you not? Okay. Your son, who don't you want him to grow up to be a good man and not be to his wife and his >> Yes. >> Okay, or do you want him to grow up like her and just beat his children? Because this cycle is what starts people who just beat the [ __ ] out of other people when they can't process their emotions. And that's what you're doing. You can't process your emotions. You can't deal with it. So it it it it manifests in anger. And he's 14. You should not be raising children. Cuz you can't deal with it. Okay? I talked to child molesters and murderers. I don't get that out of them. I talk to them like a human being. I just sat here for an hour talking to you like a human being and I shouldn't have been. >> If you or your child spent years growing up on social media and experienced serious mental health struggles, you should hear this. Recently, a jury ordered Meta and YouTube to pay millions for their role in designing and promoting addictive platforms. They knew their apps could contribute to anxiety, depression, and body image issues, but did not share those risks while prioritizing profits. The recent historic verdict underscores the consequences of those decisions. Now, Morgan & Morgan is stepping up to hold these platforms accountable for the harm they caused. Click the link in my bio to take a short quiz. You may be entitled to a potential recovery of over a thousand dollars. >> You should have known from the moment I walked in here what type of person I think you are. Okay? And quite frankly, universally amongst DCF and the Sheriff's Office, we quite frankly think you're a monster. This is not the first time. This is the first time it's been recorded. Okay? And the first time it's been played for me. All right? I'm the supervisor of the person's crimes unit. I deal with domestic violence, child abuse, homicides, all these all these things. And this is really really really bad act of child in my opinion. Do you I mean, do you have any any any counter statement to this? You need help. >> Yeah, I do. And I can't get that help. >> Okay. So, you you Do you think now after listening to me and watching that video, do you think now that you hitting him the way that you did for a minimum of 4 minutes was a reasonable use of force to discipline a >> I'm not answering that cuz you're going to arrest me. >> Okay, don't answer it. I don't care. I'm telling you that it's not. I'm telling you that I work for the state of Florida. I work for the county of Flagler and the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. I'm trained. >> I didn't beat him for 4 minutes. That's the problem. It wasn't like 4 minutes of continuing. It was fighting back and forth. >> Are you familiar with mental abuse? Emotional abuse? How do you think these What do you think they're going to do to their kids? What When you get a call from your grand daughter or your grand son and they're hysterically crying and saying daddy it out of me with a sandal. You're going to be so upset and then you're going to remember this day and you're going to remember that you did that. It's all your fault. This guy is soft as vanilla pudding. Look at him. He's not doing anything to stop his wife from That's a huge problem. You should be arrested. You know that? Couple of negligence. You're not doing anything. What are you doing? You're just letting your wife just run the house and out of everybody? Your daughter cuts herself. You think she just cuts herself because she had a bad childhood? Who created her childhood? That's you. The self-harm is cuz of you. And it Listen, you had a probably worse childhood than anybody. Stop [snorts] the cycle. Stop it. It's on you to continue this or not. You're just continuing the pattern. Your going to grow up worse than you did. And they're going to be doing things that are worse than you're doing. They're going to be self-medicating with and alcohol and way worse than because now it's not cool like it used to. The kid's using This is This is the same that we see all the time. Victims of abuse grow up to be criminals and grow up to to suffer massive consequences cuz the abuse they suffered at home. You want to talk about PTSD? Listen to this He went through a [ __ ] battle and it didn't even hit you. He didn't do anything. He was defending himself the whole time and you're just him. I don't care if it's with a sandal or not. I don't care if he's got a black eye or not. He It doesn't Not all wounds are external. Have you I mean, I've seen I've met the kid this morning. I I He's He's He's a cute little boy. He asked if he could sit in a in a in a rolling chair because he thought it was fun to twirl around. He's a [ __ ] child. Do you recognize that you need help? >> Yeah, we do. >> Okay. No, no, no. >> No, no. >> No, there's no we in here, sweetheart. >> I recognize that I need help. >> It is you. You have anger problems. You have You You immediately jump to violence when you can't handle something. Take his phone, throw it in the garbage and tell him that okay, no internet for the 2 months. Whatever. And then what is he going to do? >> Turn around and get another one and get on the internet. >> Then do it again and punish him again in some other fashion. him is not going to do anything. him causes him to run out of the house, ride his bike down the street and call the police. Beating him makes him go to school and then call SRDs, the school resource deputies, and tell them that that his mom beat out of him. And then now look look look at you now. You got the police at your house 2 days in a row. DCF is I'm in the middle of your life. You didn't even have access to your kids last night. You shouldn't have had access to your kids last night, but you broke that. You shouldn't have been here. You know that. >> They said we could be here as long as somebody was awake. >> Were they awake the whole time? >> Yeah. >> Okay. That's not what was explained to us. >> No, yeah. Everybody was awake. >> All right, this This is you're you're you're manifesting excuses to try to justify abhorrent behavior, okay? The behavior is is unconscionable unconscionable and I guarantee you if the supervisor of Advent Health was to see this video, you would just be out of a job tomorrow. Okay? You'd be working at McDonald's because that's the type of person that you are because you can't process What if What if there's a baby crying in the NICU? You going to slap him around a little bit? Shut the [ __ ] Is that what happens? >> No. >> Okay, why not? >> They're babies. >> Oh, okay. So, having to all these instead of coming up with creative forms of discipline, which are widely available on the internet, or widely available through resources that you've been had You've had access to at DCF CPC, all these things, and recognizing that because the suffer does it probably don't want your kids to suffer through a You never took any of these opportunities. You never thought that it was a better idea to break the cycle and stop it, right? That's like That's like being a heroin addict and then just giving your kids heroin cuz you're like, "Ah, yeah." >> We have tried different alternatives. That's the problem. I think >> this age is going to lead to him being defiant and lead to more behavior that is going to lead you to get more angry and and and fall back on the behaviors that you have here. That's what it's going to happen, and it's going to continue for all five of the kids. When they hit puberty, you're right. When they hit puberty, they get defiant and they become [ __ ] That That's just human nature, and they probably won't level out till 24 or 25. It's ridiculous. But shouldn't like Shouldn't you feel an abundance of love, unconditional love, where you don't want to see your children cry? >> I do. I don't want to fight with them. >> No, no. You I fight with my kids. I Everybody fights with everybody. The point is, don't you want to Don't you want to express unconditional love and make your children feel loved? Don't you feel anything when he's hysterically crying, asking and begging you to stop? >> Yeah. >> It didn't look like it. You just That's all you did. And guess what? We're going to get a search warrant for Ring. We're going to pull that video, and we're going to use that against you. Okay? I I Again, I read you your rights earlier. You understood all the rights that I read to you, right? You don't have to talk to me. You don't have to say anything. But do you have anything to say to me that I could explain to the State Attorney's Office? Any any remorse or any justification how you should not be held accountable for for for what you did to yourself? >> I don't know I don't know what to say. Um you know, him and I discussed afterwards that I and every time that the we fight like that it's frustrating. I don't want to get to the point where I'm so upset that I'm and I'm yelling and screaming. I don't like that. >> Okay. >> I I don't want to be the monster that I feel like I'm always driven to. I don't want to. I want to get away from that point, but I don't know I mean like everything that we try outside of like I I I tried rewards. I tried to take things away. Like I don't know all the resources that I've been given like apparently I don't know. I I I want to fix it, but I don't know how to fix it. >> Okay. Have you done irreparable damage at this point? >> I don't know. >> You have your children all in an interview room this morning crying about what mommy does to them. They say daddy doesn't care. All of them. Why do you have kids? For the tax write-off? I mean what? So you justify minivan? Like what's the point of having kids? >> I love my kids. >> You got Listen, lady. You got a really weird way of showing it. I I don't know how else you could do I don't know how else you could justify that sort of behavior. I mean it's embarrassing. Are you embarrassed after looking at that? >> Yes. >> How I mean would you want that your job to see that? Would you want your friends to see that? Would you want her to see that? >> No. >> That's why I told her not to be out here because that's really, really embarrassing and you're and you're just standing over your with a sandal. I mean, it is abusive. It is beyond reasonableness. >> Was it reasonable for you to to hit your son that many times? >> I'm not answering that. >> Okay. Is there anything else you want to say? >> Um, I don't think so. >> All right. I know you have a broken arm. I want you to keep your hands in front. Just unless you Obviously, I don't want to hurt your arm. So, we're going to leave it like this. I know that since I'm not a 14-year-old boy, you're not going to try to fight me. So, Um, Detective Gordon, would you mind taking her over there by the Jeep? Um, if you don't mind just searching her, make sure she doesn't have any weapons or anything like that. I'll talk to uh Marcus. I'm sorry. >> I don't feel like I'm going to sit down for a second cuz I've been standing. >> Yeah, we can we can sit down for sure. Um, >> She was ultimately arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse, domestic violence. The children were later placed into a new safety plan through child protective services.
