On March 27th, 2025, Discord submitted a cyber tipline report to the task force against crimes toward children. The report flagged a Discord moderator for allegedly engaging in inappropriate communications with minors and soliciting illicit images. All right, Dale. So, my name my name's Carl. You just call me Carl. It's Detective Springhorn. This is my partner, Detective Bradz. Her name's She's got a copy of the search board that I can I can show you so you can read over. I know you just woke up. So, I'll let you read it so you can kind of understand it. Okay. >> I mean, I get the gist of it. Why is >> So, uh, let me go over this and I'll explain kind of like the why. How? Okay. >> You're Dale, right? >> Yeah. >> What's your middle name? >> Robert, you're okay, dude. Take a breath. This is going to be pretty low stress, okay? We'll get through this. Take a breath. >> This is your primary residence here. >> Yeah. >> Makes you what? 26? >> 27. >> 27. >> Where were you born? >> You're good, man. Take a breath. >> I'm not good. >> Dale, do you think we could get you like a water bottle maybe from your house? >> Um, I should be okay. Go ahead and date this right there. It's the 27th. I have no idea what's going on at all. So, I'll kind of give you the rundown of it. I'm just going to give this to my partner. She'll uh she's a witness and she'll decide there. So, um are you familiar? Let me let me actually get a couple more things. What's your email address? Is that your only email address? >> Yeah. >> Does anybody else use that or have access to it? >> No. >> Okay. So, it's not going to be like on your brother's phones or anything like that? >> No. >> Okay. Um, do you have any kind of like social media at all? >> Um, Facebook and Snapchat. >> Okay. What's your uh Snapchat username? Do you use that username for other websites or anything at all? >> No. >> Do you have a Discord? >> Um, I don't use it very much. >> Okay. Uh, do you know what your username on there is? >> Does anyone else ever use those? >> No. >> No. So, you're the only one that like logs in and uses them? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, my Snapchat has been hacked a couple of times and I've had to reflect new. >> Okay, that's fair. So, the reason um we're here is because there's a there's an organization, basically a nationwide organization that internet service providers like Discord or Snapchat report to if they see things that are concerning to them. >> Um, and basically Discord reached out to us and they have your profile and they found some pretty concerning stuff there. Do you have any idea like what that might be? It might be like the online role playing that I do with some other people, but other than that, it's not like anything hurtful. >> Tell me about the online role playing one >> that I need to stop. But like I I have one girl that I talk to on there and there's some like pictures that her and I share of like online stuff, but other than that, that's it. >> Like what do you mean there's pictures you don't share? like fake you can find like on the internet and whatever. >> Okay. >> Other than that, it's innocent stuff. >> How old is this girl? >> She's my age. >> Do you ever talk to people that say that they're younger than you? >> No. >> Okay. >> Never. >> So, when these internet people reach out to us, they send us have basically your your whole internet history here. So, I've read and know all these things already. So, these questions I'm asking you are kind of questions I already know the answers to. So, I'm just going to urge you to be honest with me. Okay? So, like these are just a few of the pictures I printed out that I know like these are in your bedroom, right? Like the bedroom I was just in. So, I can see the posters on the wall. Like this is this is you, right? You sent these. Okay. So, I mean like this girl right here says I'm 16. You basically say that's okay. I still want to see you, right? I'll show you my like these conversations go on and on. So like tell me about that a little bit. So you're like aware some of these girls are clearly under 18. Correct. >> Yeah. Okay. You're still like if like this is something we can work through a little bit here. Like did you ever actually meet up with any of these girls? >> No. >> Okay. So like this is just something like maybe you're >> you think you're into so you're asking them but like is maybe you nothing you would ever act on maybe but >> it's not anything I'm I would ever act on and it's just pure stupidity. >> Okay. How many times do you think you've talked to girls that have said that they're under 18 and you've asked for pictures or sent pictures? >> Not many. >> Yeah. Um if >> you could like estimate a number on that. five, five or 10 times. >> I would say that's pretty consistent with what I've seen. Like there's this girl said she was from Michigan and you guys were planning like a meet up. She said she needed money for gas. She said she was 16. Do you remember that? Don't remember that. Okay. I mean, it's kind of older. It was from I don't remember the date on this one, but said she was from Michigan. She needed gas money. Um, so you guys basically planned out a whole trip where she's going to drive up here. She said she was 16. Is that okay? You said I'm 23. Is that okay? You She said, "Of course." You said, "I can't wait to you." Um, so that's the kind of stuff you don't remember this conversation at all. >> Okay, >> I know we're throwing a lot at you and we we deal with serious stuff like homicides and in the grand scheme of things, >> believe me, I know how serious this is. I'm just, >> you know, you didn't kill anybody. You didn't hurt anybody. We're here to just make sense of what we're seeing. And this is stuff that we're used to seeing. We come across it a lot. Um so anything that you say to us, it's not really going to alarm us or, you know, shock us or anything like that. We we kind of do this stuff for a living. So um just just so that you're aware that you can feel comfortable to be completely honest with us so that we understand. Um you know, you you've you seem very forthcoming and I I want to make sure that that kind of continues throughout. Okay. >> Did uh do you primarily use your phone? Do you use Discord or do you use a computer or phone? You use >> phone. >> Okay. >> Do you use like do you have computers or electronics in your bedroom? >> No. >> Okay. >> Just my Xbox. >> Your Xbox. Okay. >> Um am I going to find stuff on your phone that's going to be concerning to me? >> Um right now probably not. >> Okay. >> I don't think there's anything. >> Well, what would there be if you thought there might be something like if we aired on the side of Kosher? Um, probably just like pictures of myself, but >> just of yourself. Okay. Um, so you have the search warrant there. I am going to seize your phone. There's kind of a couple things we can do. Um, I can take your phone if I basically I'm going to I'm going to look through your phone one way or another. If you want to give me permission, I can just give it to our county guy and up here if you give me like the passwords and stuff and he can go through it and we might get it back to you pretty quick. Otherwise, if you don't give me passwords and stuff, it's going to go up to the state lab and it'll probably be there for about a year plus. >> I got passwords and stuff. >> What's that? >> I got you passwords and stuff. >> Okay. So, yeah, as long as you give me all the passwords and all that kind of stuff, it could go pretty quick. Um, so I'm just going to write this is I'll let you read through this. I'll just write in your name here. So, if you want to read this, this is basically just that permission slip and then we'll get like passwords and stuff. We'll write it down there. Do you remember a time that you were talking to somebody and they put like a 9-year-old on and they said, "Hey, you're now talking to a nine-year-old and a three-year-old." No. They sent some pictures um and they asked you to like send some pictures back. They finally said like, "Hey, pull some pictures off the internet of like some kids you find attractive." >> Around that age. Okay. >> I'm trying to forget all this stuff that I did. >> How long have you been into like child and this kind of stuff? >> I haven't. And it's It's just something that happens when I get [ __ ] randly by myself and I just do stupid like this. >> Um, do you have any like hidden folders or anything like that that we're going to need password access to? >> Like the only stuff that I have is literally it's all just in your photos there. >> Yeah. >> So if we go to like my only there's not anything you don't use that anything here. No. All right. Is Discord still on here? >> I think it is. >> When was the last time you used it? >> Um, like recently I was talking with this is the one that I like to the wrong place with and everything. >> Okay. Easy. Good enough. >> As far as communications, can you walk us through one that you do recall? I know you kind of asked you a couple questions and just saying you don't remember. Um >> I guess what was the most recent one where someone was under the age of 18 and kind of walk us through maybe what the conversation was like? Most of the time when it's like this, it's like these girls just want me to like throw the money for like PayPal and get pictures and whatever. And most of the time my intuition just says don't do it and then I don't do it and it just ends up with me talking to them and then me getting blocked. >> Um, how do you like come into how do you meet most of these people? It seems like maybe some of them are from like medal or something. Was that something you were using? >> That was like years and years ago. Like nowadays it's like finding them. >> I don't I don't even know where I find most of the people now. Like most of them are just like quick ads or >> like on Snap or what? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, how do you end up like on Discord with some of these people? >> They ask for my Discord and I'll just give it to them. So there's a lot of people you're just like quick editing on Snapchat and then you end up >> like Yeah. And then there's like >> So a lot of these conversations I have go back to like 2019, 2020, 2021. So a lot of that stuff might have been Omega. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Gotcha. Do you still have Omega? >> No, it's um >> I know that's kind of site now. >> Okay. Gotcha. I didn't know that. >> Okay. Is there any other apps you're using besides like Snap or Discord to like communicate with people and all? Not like those types of >> There's one conversation you said that the youngest girl you'd ever been with was 16 when you were 21. Uh, is that >> No, it was a lie. >> Oldf face. >> Okay. >> I've only barely had one woman in my life. >> Mhm. >> That's it. Metsy got honest truth, too. >> Okay. How old is that person? >> Um, both 17 at the time. Sure. Okay. >> When you say that people will like tell you to send them like money for these images, are we going to come across anytime that you have bought that? And and if we do, um it's better that you just tell us now so that we know and then that way we can, you know, put into >> you go for my PayPal stuff. Probably. Yeah. >> Okay. How many times do you think >> it's probably been like >> I I don't know how many times I've bought off of people on PayPal. >> And these are people, you know, are under 18 >> or just like in general you've bought from people. >> I've just bought from people. Like I don't usually when I buy stuff like this, I don't know if they're 18 or not. >> How many times do you think you've done it like knowing that they're under 18? once or twice. >> Okay. >> Do you think that those images are still on your phone? >> No. >> Okay. So, you wouldn't have those anymore. Just something you would have once had. >> Yeah. I usually when people send me stuff like that, I usually just delete it and get rid of them. I don't have anything to usually do with it because I've had a brother that's gone through all this already. Do you ever share any of these images with other people? >> No. >> Do you ever allow anybody else to view them? >> No, it's just my stuff. >> Okay. So, you're saying like your parents and your siblings like they wouldn't know? No. >> So, you say your brother's gone through this already? Like what do you know about that? >> This was like a worse situation than mine because he actually met up with the person. Like I I don't even know what to say right now. This is all shocking to me because yeah, I again it's a lot to take in right now when you first wake up in the morning. It's not how I want to wake up, but here we are. I I guess I appreciate your honesty and you working with us here. We'll get through this. Um, >> is there anything else that you want to add here? >> Okay. >> I we want to make sure that we're giving you the opportunity to be honest with us, Dale. >> Hey, Joe. And so if there's anything that you can think of that you feel we should know find it on our own and then it's not you know addressed or at least maybe where you could like provide an explanation or a thought process for us on stuff. I mean we're being pretty transparent with you and you seem like you're being pretty honest with us but we are going to search these things right? So we are going to search devices and so we're probably going to come across everything that is on your phone. And just so we can kind of explain a little bit about how that happens is even if you delete things, it's never like permanently deleted. I'm assuming you kind of are aware of that stuff, right? >> Okay. And so when we do that, we can search as as far usually as as back as we can, you know, and >> so we just want to make sure that you give us as much information as possible. >> I will. >> Okay. So, I do think that there is going to be more that we find than what you're telling us. >> I probably Yeah. >> Okay. >> I just I'm unsure of just don't know most of the stuff. >> Okay. >> I guess is there anything within the recent year in the last few months I should say. Um >> I've I've been pretty much stopping within most of like the last few years. >> Okay. >> I've decided that like when I was doing it that it was really stupid and that I was probably going to end up being in this situation if I kept doing it. >> When you say doing it, what do you mean >> like talking to these people online? >> What do you mean when you say these people? >> Like the underage or like just people in general online because most of them are good. >> Can you send images of yourself like your penis underage? I'm going to say probably yes. Like I I'm not certain though. >> Sure. >> Can you pull up the images and confirm that that's >> definitely Yeah. >> Okay. >> I'm not denying that at all. >> Yeah. >> How young would you say um the youngest person that you've spoken to was? And on what platform? >> I'd say 14. And it was on this thing called like Emerald Chat. >> Emerald Chat. >> Yeah. It's like what? It's like a make a alternative. >> Is that just like an online thing or is that like an app that you actually download? >> So like a new online thing. >> Okay. >> Is that like a website you're saying? >> Yeah. When is the last time you used that? >> I want to say it was like two or three weeks ago. >> Okay. >> And that was to like try to find people for role play. Did you actually talk to anybody when you used it two or three weeks ago? >> No. >> Okay. When was the last time you talked to somebody underage on that or that said they were underage? >> I have no clue. >> Okay. >> Usually I'm trying to just like press through on that one because like I don't get much matches. >> Mhm. >> All right, Dale. I don't have a ton else for you. I think that that's what I wanted to know. Um let me hop out and talk to my partner. >> All right. Hop out on me. Okay. So, you are going to go today. Okay. You're going to go [Music] [Music]
