So, I guarded my son. He punched me in my head while I'm holding my son. Then he gave me like a rib shot. >> I don't even know if I'm going to get out of jail, man. >> What made this husband think a fight over a crying child was worth risking everything for? >> Alia, baby. >> No, [ __ ] >> Alia, come come talk to me. What's going on? >> So, I did end up putting my hands back on him. I can't lie, after the fact. But I'm scared of him, so I would never hit him first after I know that he would abuse me. This man had just got off work at 3:00. Everything was fine. My son is disabled. He he he's non-verbal, he doesn't talk. So, he makes a lot of noises. GET AWAY, LET ME SAY WHAT HAPPENED. >> WE'RE TALKING. >> He's non-verbal, so he makes a lot of noises. His happy sounds are like "Gah!" But he but he was getting hungry. I know it's hard for me, so he was crying, he was being fussy, whiny. Okay, I know that he just got off work. He came in to have a clean piece from the dog cuz the dog just peed. So, he probably wants a piece and quiet. But my son is disabled, he doesn't know how to be quiet. So, he's crying because he was ready to eat. He's like, "Put him in his room till the food's done." The first he wasn't really yelling, so let me calm down. He was like, "You should have put him in his room till the food's done, man." I'm like, "The the food's about to be done, he's about to eat. No, he's staying out here." He's like he's like, "I'm I just got off of work. I can't come home in 30 minutes of peace and quiet." He opened the door. One second, man. All right, you're Leonard, right? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay, Leonard. I'm going to read you your Miranda warning, okay? See if you want to talk to me about what's going on in here, okay? >> Okay. >> So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand each of these rights I explained to you? >> Yes. >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me? >> Yes. >> All right, man. So, now's your chance to tell me from your point of view what happened in there. >> I get off work at 3:00. I make it back to Peoria or back here or home like around like 3:20 or something. So, I had went in, sat down on the couch, turned the TV on, went to be on trial to find something to watch on YouTube. She brought her son out the room. And he was crying real loud. I said, "Baby, can you can you put him in the room until his food get done? Until his food get done? Like, man, baby, I just got off work. I ain't I ain't Like, man, I ain't really feel I've been up since 3:00 this morning, man. She like, "Why you got to be I'm like, baby, we ain't even I'm like, I ain't even open that way. I'm like, I'm just trying to lay down and chill, man. I'm got me a cigarette, got me a beer. I'm relaxed. >> I said before that he will at least put his hands on me. So, I didn't I was not trying to get loud. I'm basically just like, he's about to eat. There's no need for him to be put up in the room if he's about to eat. The food I put the food for 30 seconds. It's not that hot. It don't have to cool down. >> So, did you guys physically fight or anything like that? You guys You guys were just shouting? >> No. No. He was walking towards me and I'm backing up. I'm backing up. He's like He's like, oh, now you ain't saying [ __ ] Now I'm coming close to you. You ain't saying [ __ ] I'm like, cuz I'm scared of you. Yes, I'm not saying anything. So, then he backed away. Like, he didn't do this in the spur of the moment. He literally had time time to time to think about hitting me and he still >> She was already like a little upset when I first walked in because the dog had peed on the floor. She said he peed on the floor like around 2:30 or something like that. So, she left it there so I can come home and kind of like train him to So, she left the pee there and she was a little upset. I guess she must have stepped in it. So, she was already kind of like upset when I got off work. So, we ended So, she's I'm like I'm like, can you please take your son in the room while his food cool down cuz he's screaming out here? She was like then she she was like, "Cuz you ain't got nothing to wear. You I'm like, baby, why are you saying all that? So, she like she pretty much just started arguing like I'm like, I'm not trying to argue with you. I'm like, man, I'm just trying to chill. All I want to do is chill, man. That's all I wanted to do. Like, hit my little hitter. Hit my little hitter. Drink me a beer and smoke a cigarette. That's all I wanted to do. >> I sat down and started feeding my son. And then he was like, we're still arguing. Mind you, my son's eating at this point. I'm like, why are we still arguing? He's eating already. There's no need for him to be in the room. Now we're the only ones talking. And then HE CAME UP AND OH, CUZ I THIS IS WHAT I SAID. I SAID, HOW ABOUT you go in the Cuz he kept saying like, why didn't I put my son in the room? And I'm like, he's He's to eat. I will you go in the room. If you want to be quiet, then you go in your room. He has his own room. You know what I mean? >> Um once all that go past, her and her son at the table, they eating. I mean, she's his food cool down, so she started feeding him. So, like pretty much like after that, she was just yelling at Like, "Why don't you" She like she like she kept on saying like, "You you know he um" But I like I I I know his I know I know how he is. >> Mhm. >> So, I'm like, "Okay, I'm like, baby, I understand all that. I'm like, man, I'm like oh, I just got off work. I'm like, man, at least give me at least 30 minutes to a hour. Just a little bit of peace, man. I've been up since 3:00 this morning. I am tired. It's It just She just like "You must You making it seem like I'm supposed to And she want to She keep talking about the dog pen. She talking about her I don't know. It ain't like it's It ain't like it's over a female. It ain't like no It's nothing really bad going on. It was just a argument. And I'm like, I'm trying to calm her down. I want her to calm down. Like, baby, calm down. Stop. >> Okay. >> So, she got her son at the table. So, she she stood up. >> What's the What's that got to do with it? You go in the room. >> You got to put the camera She's like, "Oh, me, go in the room. Me, go in the room." >> And he was probably already pissed off like me saying other things that he punched me in my head. And like to the point where you know when you get hit hard, it goes like black and you see dots? He punched me in my head, but I was like on the bench. If you go in there, there's a table with a bench. And I was holding my son. And he was coming towards me when I'm sitting next to my son. So, I guarded my son and he punched me in my head while I'm holding my son. >> Can I see the side of your head? >> me right here. >> Can I see the side of your head? >> It was actually this side. It was this side. >> your head? >> [snorts] >> Can you move your head? >> There's no marks. I doubt it. Um and then he gave me like a rib shot. >> Okay. >> Right here. Like >> I'm like, baby, you don't We don't have to do none of that. I didn't try to take her phone. I didn't hit her. I didn't touch her at all. If If somebody says she has some marks, I don't know if she I don't If It's no way she could have got marks from me at all. I I'm trying to give her a hug and kiss her like, baby, stop. Stop. Please, stop. I don't want no problems. Please, stop. She's like, "My" She had her mom on the phone like, "You You better leave him alone. Leave him alone." She's talking to her daughter like, "You should leave him alone." While they're being I'm like, "Man, >> And it's not like did not like bad bad like tell the police before, but like I called my mom and was like, "I just want to call the cops on him." I just wanted my mom to come get me. She lives hours away. There's already He's in the We're not supposed to be around each other. And that's what the state said. I didn't put that against him, but we're not supposed to be around each other. >> Because they they put like a order in place for She like three hours two or three hours away. >> So, there's an order of protection? >> But not for me. He's like >> For him? >> Yes, for him. Like he's supposed to stay >> against him or him against you? >> It's me against him, but like I didn't I didn't say that I wanted to do the order of protection. He just had like two domestics within like a couple months, so I think like the state put like we're supposed to stay 300 Yeah, like something like that, but like we've been fine ever since the last time he got out of jail, I've been with him. >> I'll take care of everything in this crib, man, the bills, everything. I got a job, man. I'm I'm the only [ __ ] here that's paying I don't I don't have my my car, [ __ ] to pay for, my insurance. I got all this to pay for. It's like I just had a long goddamn day at work. All I wanted to do was relax. Far as her, like it was only an argument. Her mom, I'm pretty sure her mom put that [ __ ] in her head when she went inside her son's room. I'm pretty sure her mom told her I wiped all the spit out my like off my nose and about my mouth. I ain't never even say nothing to this officer about that spit because I don't want her to get in trouble. She ain't got nowhere to go. Like she she got to call her mom from out of state or out of town to come get her. So, I'm like, "Man, hey, we don't we don't have to do all this. You going to be right back in here." I think Honestly, I think it's time for you to move on. >> Yeah, I I am. I am. I didn't want to call the cops cuz he got [ __ ] to lose. I called my mom. But you know what? My mom My mom was like, "I'm calling the cops." Cuz my mom lives hours and hours away. So, it would take her three hours to get here and come get me. I just wanted to leave. >> Okay, what's your first name? >> Alia. >> Alia? I got know. like a like a like a work like I'm pretty sure y'all see the water back there. It's water on the floor right there. Like I was drinking some water like while she was arguing she slapped the water bottle and that's why y'all see ice water on the floor. It don't it don't it didn't really affect me or hurt me. I was just like, "Damn, baby, you need to calm down." So I know her. I know her like a book. So when she get like this she get real crazy and she just keep going keep going keep going keep going keep going. >> This is first time he put his hands on me since he got out of jail and this I see that like okay he's probably going to start up again because we've been fighting, you know? So like the first time I didn't want to call the cops on him. I just >> I heard her say I heard her say I was in the crib talking to him or talking to somebody. I heard her say he hit me in my head. Come on, man. Don't do that. Don't say no like that. I'm not even saying I'm not even I didn't I didn't even say nothing about you spitting my face and all that [ __ ] and you didn't lie and say I hit you in your head and now you got marks. And marks from where? Where you get some marks from? There's no >> Call my mom right now cuz I wanted to leave but I should have known she was going to call because she don't know the extent You know, she don't know what could be happening here. And she knows I have my child. So I don't blame him. I'm not mad. Like it just is what it is but >> I got a lot to lose, man. If I go to jail I'm sorry I'm going to lose my job my job going to be gone. >> Okay. >> She I love her and she love me. She ain't going nowhere. Y'all She ain't going nowhere. I'm saying I know she's not. I didn't even get her ass fight like twice off her just like getting mad and her mom like, "Come on with me, baby. Come on with me, baby." She don't even be wanting to go. Man, I don't even know if I'm going to get out of jail, man. >> I did end up hitting him back too. Like he's probably going to lie and say I hit him first. [ __ ] I would never hit him first. No, he's going to put his hands on me and my son is here. I literally was sitting down but what pissed him off made him come towards me and I'm like, "You go to the room then. If you want to go to the cuz he was like >> Is there Is there like you have any video footage or anything inside the house like cameras or anything showing what happened or anything? >> No. >> Okay. >> I never [ __ ] touched her. I did not touch her, man. But she she all in my mouth and my face and spit all over me and I ain't say [ __ ] And he seen the spit all over me. He seen the damn spit in my He seen the spit all over my face, spit in my hair. And all I was trying to do is get a hug or a kiss and say, "Baby, can we just calm down? Can we just chill? Please, hang the phone up from your mom." She's still on the phone with her mom. Her mom like, "Oh, I'm calling the police. I'm calling the police." I'm like I'm like I'm like, "Mom, you ain't got to call the police." I'm like everything is fine. And she already know I'm like she didn't been over here to visit. I didn't bought them from I didn't bought her food from coming over. Let her spend all that good stuff. But as far as me going to jail off of somebody know I did not do, man, off she lying, she upset, it's guaranteed tomorrow or the next day she'll be crying and begging. If I I don't even know how long I'll be in jail, man. I I don't even want her to go to jail. I I didn't call the police. She didn't even call the police. >> So you're saying that you put your hands on her then? >> No, I didn't. >> You don't ever punch her or anything like that? >> Man, I swear to God on my mama and my brother body, man. I never touched her. >> So you So you saw like is it actual spit? >> Yeah. >> Or was it like water? >> No, it was spit. Water wouldn't hang on like that. And when I addressed it, he looked at me like, "How you know?" And I said, "It's in your hair." And he said, "Oh, yeah. Damn, she spit on me." Just like that. It was on his left side. Cuz I'm looking at you, it'll been right there like right there. As he was walking to the door, I got a clear side view. And I was like, "Did she spit at you?" And he said, "How you know?" It's in your hair. Straight like that. Then he went to go wipe it off. >> I literally literally told him, "Now me and you are the only ones arguing. He's quiet. Why are we still going?" He kept on kept on He's like He's like, "NEXT TIME" HE'S NOT MAKING sense cuz he didn't go to school today. So he's just talking. It's pissing me off. He's like He's like, "Next time he don't go to school, feed him earlier." I'm like, "Dude, you're just trying to tell me what to do and how TO DO IT." HE'S ALREADY ATE TWICE TODAY. This is not his first time [ __ ] eating. It's time for him to eat again. And so now I'm going to feed him. I'm not going to put him in the room when he's about to [ __ ] eat. He's already crying. And if he's upset, he will bang his head on the floor. So you're already hitting himself cuz he's upset. He doesn't know how to spit. Like I don't know. Like, it's so upsetting. I'm just so upset. I wasted my time. I tried to forgive him and it's just a waste of time. I could have been on a on a way farther, better path in my life if I would have been moved back with my mom. >> All right, we all live and we learn. Where is he? Inside the house? She wants [snorts] to take him inside. >> I want to say three times she punched me in my head, punched me in the back of my head, and all I was trying to do is give her a hug and a kiss, man. She already spit on me at least three She spit on me three times for sure. >> Mhm. >> All my face, mouth, and eyes, and my damn nose. And she hit me in my head and she knocked that damn water bottle out my mouth while I was drinking, man. Look at my tooth, man. I know you see this. I ain't even I wiped off the spit. I ain't even know he seen that spit. >> She's getting a notice to appear right now. >> Man, I'm saying but a notice to appear? I'm saying I'm the one I'm the real victim. I swear. >> I mean, listen, I have two conflicting stories like I said, okay? >> She lying. What do you guys think? >> So, here's the thing. Here's the thing, man. >> man. >> Okay, well, this is something y'all got to figure out in court. That's why I said I was just going to say both of you guys but since she's got her kid and nonverbal, okay, autistic, her mom lives 3 hours away, I'm not going to leave a 6-year-old here by himself with no parent. >> Okay. Why I can't go to the police station? Why I got to go to jail? I mean, I'm going to >> Because the state of Illinois takes domestic battery very, very seriously. When there's when there is evidence of there was a fight, a struggle, something happened, she alleged you did something to her and there she has injuries, stuff like that, I have no choice. I have to make an arrest, okay? I talked to the state's attorney, okay, about giving her a notice to appear. He said, "Yeah, that's fine, okay?" >> Okay, what about >> But you guys need to be separated, okay? You guys need to be separated, so therefore you're going to go. She's going to get an NTA, all right? And that's it. >> Okay, can I >> Okay, well, when you guys go to court, you can talk to the judge about whatever y'all had going on here, all right? He can figure out all that stuff. He that that's what he does. >> Would would you be able to still send me to jail and still give me NTA so I can make it to work tomorrow, man? I just want to let you know the story, man. That's all I was trying to do, man. >> Well, listen, all this is going to be documented. Don't worry. It's all going to be in my report. >> ain't no it ain't no way you can talk to State Farm so I can still go to jail and get an NTA so I can make it to work tomorrow? >> No, that's something you got to talk to them over there in the county, man. >> do it over there. >> I mean, either way, you I mean, it's regardless, you're going to see somebody in the morning. That that thing's recording. My body cam's recording. It'll be on my report. All right? >> At the end, Leonard and Aleah were both arrested and charged with domestic battery and endangering the life of a child. Aleah was given a notice to appear at the Peoria County Courthouse room for domestic battery.
