So they We have every time a customer is through with their um transaction they have a choice on the they have a choice to go as cash. Detectives want to talk to you about uh uh something that they're investigating." So he's right now he's just kind of voluntarily coming down with us. He's not in handcuffs or anything. Um but what's going on is the manager at the store called us and said, "Hey, this guy is uh when customers come up to the register, he's like, 'Oh, do you want to donate however much money to the whatever charity?' They're like, 'Oh, yeah, sure. I'll throw some money at the whatever charity.' And so he takes their money and then after they leave he issues a refund for the donation and then just pockets it. And so uh he's done this numerous times. Basically he's taking money on that he's putting into uh Speedway's ledgers and then he's taking it from the Speedway. So So yeah, victims could be numerous people or What? Uh I believe, like I said, I wasn't there for this part of the interview. I'm pretty sure he puts it in the cash register and then they leave and then he issues a refund and he takes it out of the cash register. Yeah, like somebody returns a product. Like they say, "Oh, yeah, sure. I'll give you this donation." Because he's got to give them a receipt. He's got to give them a receipt that makes this person seem that they gave they gave a legitimate like Yes. Okay. Yeah, I got you. Okay. So I can hit up the teller or whoever still at the store and While detectives also believe the employee falsely added charity donations to customer transactions and kept the cash. Patrick Dunbar now faces felony theft charges in connection with the investigation.
