On September 14th, 2025, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that jumped over a median while making an illegal U-turn at a traffic light. Copy, I'm out of here. Good morning. Good morning. My name's Sergeant Drennen with the police department. The reason I'm stopping you is cuz you almost hit a couple curbs and swerving all over the road. I'm sorry. How much have you had to drink tonight? Not crazy much. >> Not crazy much? Okay. I think maybe your crazy much and my crazy much might be two separate things. I understand. So, how much do you think you drank? Not much. How much is not that much? I wasn't like drinking tonight. I was just like swerving a little bit, but I wasn't drinking much. I'm sorry? I wasn't like drinking night, but I was swerving a little bit, but I wasn't drinking tonight like crazy. I was just like like Okay. Cuz I can't even understand you, ma'am. I was drinking like one or two shots. One or two shots? How long ago was that? Hours, I would say, cuz it's like nighttime. It's already like past midnight, so I would say it's like hours ago. Okay. Can I see your driver's license, registration, and insurance, please? So, I don't have my driver's license with me. I'm sorry. I don't have my insurance. How old are you? I'm 19. Okay. Is this your vehicle? Yeah. Where are you going? Home. Where is that at? Number Mayfield. Number Mayfield? Yeah. Okay. It's only like 15 minutes left away. Well, I'm happy I stopped you here because I think you could have really hurt yourself or somebody else. Better to be safe than sorry. Better to be safe than sorry, so Yeah. And what do you mean by that? Well, better you stopped me here if you thought that I was going crazy somewhere else. Yeah. You stopped me here then. I think at one point you were driving on the wrong side of the road. How old are you, ma'am? I'm 19, please. No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. She's not feeling well. Are you okay? Have you been drinking as well? Yeah. All right. I appreciate your honesty. I'm going to tell you one thing. I do have an ID that's insured and registered this time. I can get it back from my friend. I saw them the other weekend. I don't have it, so I'm going to I'll get it back from them tonight. Your what? Your ID? Yeah, my ID. >> Okay. Yeah. I was going to get it back from them tonight, but Do you have anything with your name on it? Like money, money, or any documents? No, is that your purse under your feet? Yes, but it doesn't have like my ID or like a debit card or anything in it. >> You don't have a You don't have a wallet or anything in there? No, it's because I left my wallet, like my ID and my debit card in my friend's car, so I can't get it back. Okay. Just stay in the car. I'll be right back, okay? Hello, ma'am. What was your name? Carissa. Carissa? Or Carissa. Carissa? Do you mind stepping out of the car, please? I'm going to So, I know you admitted to um this other officer that you had a couple drinks uh recently. Yeah. Yeah? Um have you ever done sobriety tests? No, but first time for everything. Okay. Do you know um or where where are you headed? To your house. To your house. I need you to stare at the tip of the pen. Okay, I need you to follow with your eyes and your eyes only, okay? Try not to move your head or any other part of your body. You going to stop him? What I need you to do, can you face your vehicle? Can you put your arm your hands behind your back? You're being arrested for DWI, okay? Now, if I don't have someone with my car, would it just be towed? Or where do I go to? If you don't mind me asking. Well, I think right now, ma'am, I don't I don't have an issue Um leaving it here, but when the business is >> leave it here and then I could get it someone in the morning, then it doesn't have to be towed, right? Yeah, but how how are you going to get somebody? Like by like 7:00 in the morning, cuz I could have my dad. He's usually sleeping, and I'll call him at 7:00 in the morning like that. He's like already awake, so that's why I'm saying 7:00 in the morning. But you're going to be in jail. That's fine, but could he pick it up or or what would you think is the best like solution? >> I think right now, like you just bite the bullet and call him so he can come pick it up. And then, how long would I be in jail for until I could be bailed out? Yeah, you'll see a judge tomorrow. And the her too? No, I'm going to have somebody come pick her up. Okay, that's good. Okay. So, for me specifically, um how much is bail usually like the first night like my type of defense? Um they usually don't have You'll probably just be released, honestly. Like it's like not that much of the cost? No. Oh, okay. Um Yeah, so I guess I'll just like call someone for her. Yeah, I'll I'll have her >> for me, and then they'll probably pick me up tonight or like early in the morning or later. Yeah, so whenever you're getting released from the jail, you can make the phone call from the jail for them to pick you up from there. Okay, that's cool. But can I call someone for her at least? Yeah, I'll have her call somebody. But can I call your dad to come pick up your car? Yeah, come here. Come on. I don't know what happened, but >> This officer's going to do a quick search on you, okay? Let's go ahead and face the vehicle over there. Yeah, I don't know what happened, but um this guy couldn't follow with us to the I don't know what happened. I don't even know like what happened specifically. Do you have anything on you in case the cop would stab me? No, but you're fine. Okay. Don't worry. I'm going to have to open secret like, you know? You're good. But yeah, um there was guys that were following us after we left the club. It's kind of weird because like I don't even Like let's say if it should like speeding or anything crazy or like 30 miles over the speed limit or anything crazy. >> you're being arrested for for driving under the influence. Okay. >> So, you're you're still being arrested either way. But yeah, I'm asking you like what the term would be like how long would I be sentenced to? You weren't scared with how she was driving? I was for a little bit, but I told her that I was scared for how she was driving. >> I don't want to switch her out or anything. So, I don't want to say Okay. Well, I mean, just from the little bit that I was behind her, that was very scary, and I'm happy that So, yeah. I got her to stop, or else I don't I don't think she would have made it home. I don't think you guys would have. That's scary. The suspect was booked into the county jail and was charged with aggravated DWI, underage drinking, and given two traffic citations.
