Ma'am. Ma'am, you got to wake up. It's the police. >> I'm not over the limit. I'm not drunk. I'm just trying to figure out why are you doing >> Step out the vehicle. I'm going to tell you one more time. I'M GOING TELL YOU ONE MORE TIME. STEP OUT. >> I see why. Get your mother. You touch me. >> On August 29th, 2024, deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. After realizing the driver was intoxicated, officers began preparing the car to be towed. However, they soon noticed the driver wasn't alone. A woman was lying in the back seat. As officers approached the vehicle to speak with her and explain the situation, it quickly became clear that this would be far from an easy task. >> Ma'am. Ma'am. She needs to wake up. >> Tell her, "Ma'am, you got to wake up. It's the police." Ma'am, she been drinking. >> Tell her to wake up or you're going to call an ambulance. >> Ma'am, you need an ambulance, ma'am. You need an ambulance. You do? >> Okay. 24. Can you start? Sir, have you been drinking too or no? It's okay if you've been drinking or not. I was just just trying to see who could drive the vehicle. You got a license? >> You don't got a valid license? >> 24. >> Okay. >> Inside the car, officers found the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Rochelle R. Parrot lying in the back seat. An officer attempted to wake her, but it quickly became apparent that she was disoriented and unaware of who was beside her. As questioning continued, her responses only made it clearer that she was far from fully conscious. >> Ma'am, 123. >> Ma'am, it's the police. >> The police officer is right here. >> Ma'am, I'm right here. >> Ma'am, has she been drinking, too? Do you know? So, we're trying not to tow the vehicle cuz uh I don't know what she is for you, but she she's getting arrested for DUI. Okay. >> All right. >> She said the police is not here. >> The what? >> She don't think it's I'm the police. >> You most certainly are, >> ma'am. I'm up. Get up. >> You got a cup here with Okay. All right. Well, tell him to get a ride. She's probably going to go to the hospital. >> All right. >> You think you could call a ride for yourself? Have somebody pick you up? >> Ma'am. >> Sir, >> hey, you better start talking to him or the the car is going to get towed. He's trying to establish whether you're okay to drive. >> I'm okay. So, if you can't talk to him, >> if you can't talk to him, you're not okay to drive. >> And the car is going to get towed. >> Okay, fine. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. >> How much have you been drinking, ma'am? >> Here we go. >> You're not in trouble if you drink or not. I just want to know if you're okay to drive. >> I'm okay. >> Okay. How much did you had a drink? >> I'm okay. >> Is this your cup? >> You said what? >> I'm thankful. How much have you had a drink? >> From the very first interaction, the officer could tell something wasn't right. Rochelle was clearly under the influence of something. And despite her attempts to appear otherwise, she couldn't hide it. With growing concern, the officer decided to conduct a sobriety test, but Rochelle was about to make it clear that if it were up to her, nothing about this encounter would go smoothly. >> Did you have a drink? >> Me? Nothing. >> Okay. Same here. >> How about you? Nothing. >> Okay. Cuz you weren't responsive initially when he was trying to talk to you. He's trying to >> sleep. I'm trying to sleep. Well, you said you need a ambulance, too. >> I never said that. >> Yes, you did. >> You shook your head. Yes. >> Okay. >> So, you >> whatever y'all say. >> So, you don't need an ambulance now. >> No, I don't need an ambulance. I never said that. >> Yeah. You nodded your head when he asked you that question. >> Never said that. >> So, you're you're going to have to talk to him to establish that you're not intoxicated so you can drive away from here. If you're not going to do that, then he's going to tow your car. Jesus. Oh my god. >> Give me a second. Okay. >> What's going on is the person that was driving the car is in taxi. If you're if you're not, then you're going to be able to drive away from me and take the car. Otherwise, we're going to have to tow the car. You're not going to be arrested cuz you weren't driving, but we can't have somebody who is intoxicated driving the car. So, listen what my partner said. Okay. All >> right, ma'am. So, do you mind just blowing here? It's going to be You're going to take a deep breath and a constant blow until I tell you to stop. Okay. >> If I could determine you're okay to drive, you'll be able to take the vehicle. If not, I'm going to have to tow the vehicle. Okay. I don't want to tow your vehicle. You understand? >> Let's Let's get to the point. >> All right. Do you mind providing a breath sample whether you >> Come on. Come on. >> All right. Take a deep breath and and when I tell and then you're going to blow until I tell you to stop. Okay. Whenever you're ready. >> Can I do it myself? >> I got to hold it. >> I I I I I can hold it. >> Is that or you your vehicle is going to get towed? >> I got so much in so much pain. >> Rochelle began to act uncooperative, making the process more difficult for the officer. Still, despite her behavior, she couldn't avoid the sobriety test. >> Deep breath in. Keep blowing until I tell you to stop. Okay. All right. Blow blow blow blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah bl your vehicle is going to get towed. Okay.141 >> cuz you're almost as twice the legal limit. So you can't get drunk. What is you talking about? .141. >> I I can't see nothing. It's blank. >> Well, it took off. But you can be driving. >> It's on camera. >> What's What's camera? >> You want to blow again and then I'll show you again? >> Yeah. Get me something again. >> You should not show me. >> I don't have to show you. >> Just show me something plain. Nobody can see me. I'm fine. It's a turny ass mother apartment right here. You want to blow? Blow. Blow. Blow. Blow. Blow. Blow. Blow. 124.24 above the legal limit. >> At this point, the officer's suspicions were confirmed. Michelle was under the influence, and that was clearly what had led to this situation. She would not be able to drive the vehicle home, and the driver was now facing a DUI. Still, Relle seemed unable to grasp the seriousness of what was happening, continuing her uncooperative behavior. >> Is there anything you need from the vehicle, ma'am? >> So, you're not you're not being arrested. You're not in any trouble, but you can't drive the vehicle because because you're over the limit. >> I'm not over the limit. I'm not drunk. >> I'm not drunk. >> Ma'am, you need something from the vehicle? >> Yes, I need everything on my vehicle. Do you need something? >> Yeah, I'm going to tow your vehicle. That's why. >> No, you're not towing my vehicle. >> Your vehicle is getting towed. >> My car is not getting towed. >> You need something from the vehicle? >> Yes, I need everything. >> What are you getting mad at me for? >> Out of here. Move. I see why Trump want to get rid of your immigrant. >> You're not giving me the keys. Turning off the vehicle up your ass. Can't wait till Trump get rid of you mother. >> All right, ma'am. Step out. Step out cuz at this point you're going to be obstructing my investigation. >> Excuse me. >> You said do I need something out my vehicle? I'm getting things out my vehicle. >> Step out the vehicle. Now you saying I'm drunk and all this [ __ ] >> about the vehicle, ma'am. >> Damn, man. >> I'm not going to tell you again. >> I'm raising up all my windows, so nothing going on with my windows. >> You got your ID? >> Um, let me look in the back cuz I got my work bag back here. So, where's my car being sold to? >> I don't know yet. I'll let you know. Is that your cup? >> I got to figure out how to go charge my phone to figure out where my car drives to where you won't be able to take out your car for 12 hours. >> 12 hours from what? >> 12 hour DUI hold. >> Who getting a DUI? >> The one that was driving. >> At this point, Michelle was testing the officer's patience more than she should have. But she was about to escalate things even further, pushing the officers to a point where they could no longer tolerate her behavior. And I'm towing a vehicle and the vehicle is getting towed for 12 hour. >> Why are you towing my car though? I'm just trying to figure out why are you to step out the vehicle. Get out. >> I'm just trying to figure out why is my car. >> Get out. >> I'm I'm able to drive. >> I'm going to tell you one MORE TIME. I'M GOING TELL YOU ONE MORE TIME. STEP OUT. >> I see why people be getting snapped out. I see why. You touch me. You touching me. You touching me. Stop. Turn around. >> Get your mother around. Turn around. >> TURN AROUND. STOP THE STUPID, >> MAN. Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. He touched me. >> You just [ __ ] PUSHED ME. >> NO, I DID NOT. >> Turn around. Turn around. >> Just touch me. >> Turn around. >> Turn around. >> I'm not I'm not doing that. I want a female officer and I want your supervisor right now. No, I'm not doing it. [ __ ] I'll die before you touch me. >> Look how you doing me. You see what I'm talking about? >> I didn't even do nothing to you. >> Turn around. You're under arrest. >> You been You've been aggressive for what? >> You're under arrest. I already >> For what? I want a female officer right now. I want a female officer. >> I WANT A FEMALE OFFICER RIGHT NOW. I WANT A FEMALE OFFICER RIGHT NOW. YOU'VE BEEN AGGRESSIVE SINCE DAY ONE. You've been aggressive since day one. I want him touching me. I don't want you touching me. I don't want you touching me. >> Get your hands off me. >> Put cuffs down. >> I got you. All right. Thank you. >> I can't wait. I didn't even do anything. You was You've been aggressive since day one. >> Let me have this response. >> Thank you. I want him touching me. You are my brain. You are my brain. >> Thank you, man. >> I'm going to stand you up. I want your pants pulled down. I want to pull your pants up. >> Thank you. >> Cuz he slammed me to the ground. You're putting >> Don't touch me. Don't touch me. I never touch you. >> It's on camera. >> I You know what? I swear to God. >> I want to know who his name is cuz I'm going to make sure I expose you. >> I can't wait till Trump get rid of y'all. >> You have a supervisor. >> Yes. I want a supervisor to come. HE BEEN AGGRESSIVE since day one. I see why people be snapping out. IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. And they never did nothing. I WANT A FEMALE. I'M NOT DOING NOTHING. You got the cuffs on me. I want the female supervisor to come. I want the sergeant to come. You don't know who I am. >> You don't know who I am. >> I'm going to make sure I put you on the news. >> Rochelle could have walked away from the situation without facing any charges since she wasn't the one driving the car. Instead, she chose to challenge the officer's authority. A decision that quickly escalated the encounter and ultimately led her to push one of them. Even after being taken to the ground, Relle continued to play the victim, placing the blame for her situation on the officer. As the investigation moved forward, she maintained a defiant attitude and demanded authority she did not have. She repeatedly insisted on speaking with a sergeant, but when one finally arrived, her attempts to avoid responsibility only made things worse for her. >> How you doing, ma'am? Sheldon, Sergeant Sergeant, >> what's going on? So, what's going on is I woke up out of my back seat. I had a couple of drinks earlier. And then this officer right here was super aggressive. I don't feel comfortable with him while I'm talking cuz I don't want him to interrupt me or anything like that. >> Okay, you won't you won't interrupt. He's over there. >> He was so aggressive. soing aggressive from from the start. Now I can admit when I'm wrong and I can admit when I'm right. He was so aggressive, disrespectful from the jump. Remind you I'm in my back seat. I don't know what's going on. I I got to get my thoughts together. He was so aggressive and so disrespectful. Long story short, he like we towing your car. this is that da da da da. He's on the other side cuz he really don't know what's going on. He's on the other side then being with Mr. Fel and he was like, "Well, we going to take take what you need. What do you need?" D. And I'm like, "Okay, let me get a chance to think." He grabs my arm and I'm trying to grab things. He grabs me first and I'm like, "Hold up." He slamming me to the ground. Everything. He was so disrespectful. He been aggressive. That's I I know that's not how y'all train him to deal with citizens out here. We got enough going on in the world, but he been disrespectful, too aggressive. He don't know how to handle things. I didn't do anything wrong. I said my piece. I did say some stuff, but he was so aggressive. So in the back seat when I was grabbing my things, he like, "Well, grab your last things. We get in the car towed. We going to do the breathalyzer." The first one it didn't show nothing. The second time it showed some numbers, but I didn't see it. He like, "Oh, it's 1.24." So it's I want to get another breilizer cuz I don't trust it. I'm able to drive my car. >> Okay. >> He was so aggressive, too disrespectful. Then in the back seat, he can't vouch for it, but he was on the other side. He grabbed my arm and I'm like, "Wait, I'm grabbing my things." He get to swiping me. And I did resist because if you telling me grab my things, I'm trying to get all the important things I need because y'all going to tow my car. I need to get everything to the person that's out right now, Mr. Bills. >> Michelle tried to present the sergeant with her false story, but despite her efforts, it didn't work. The officer attempted to explain what had actually happened. Yet, she continued to cling to her fabricated narrative. She demanded a new sobriety test, but when the result came back the same, this time with the sergeant present, she had nowhere left to turn and the consequences were finally catching up to >> I'm just so upset the officer be disrespectful to the citizen. >> Well, I'm definitely going to look into that. >> You know, aggressive since day one. Like ain't no, "Hey, Rochelle, I understand you back here asleep." None of that. >> I completely understand. >> He don't need to be an officer. I see why Trump do not want people here. >> We're definitely going to We're definitely going to look into it. I assure you that. Okay. So, >> I don't want him nowhere touching me, Sergeant. I don't want him touching me. I >> We're going to put We're going to put your hands behind your back with two cuffs. >> I don't I don't No, I just I I'm not doing anything like I I don't none of that. I don't want him touching me. He been aggressive since day one. He don't know how to talk to citizens. He's not right. And I'm going to make sure I put him on blast. I'mma put him on Facebook. All that. >> We'll We'll look into it. I'll look into it. I'm going to review it like I promised you. >> I don't want my hands behind my back. I'm not doing that. I'm holding my pants. I just I just need to get in the car so I can go. Like you in seconds. >> You mean to grab it on the other side? In the end, Relle was charged with obstructing a peace officer, resisting [music] arrest and battery.
