Apparently, she was in the shower last night taking a shower and he was watching her through the bathroom window. Hold on. Okay. I just got played for looking at my niece's window. I was the one that I've been protecting all these god damn years. On April 11th, 2024, the Marion County Sheriff's Office received a call that raised serious alarms. Family members were reporting a disturbance in [music] their family and also claimed that one of them, the uncle, was attempting to flee with his children and was possibly intoxicated. Moments before the officer arrived at the scene, he received a report from the communication center saying the children were removed from the vehicle, but the man fled away making serious claims about taking his own life. At the scene, the officer was met by the callers, but what they described deepened the situation even more. Sheriff's office. All right. Out there around here? Out there. So, I came up from 27th Ave South. I didn't see him that way. So, we got some units coming down northwards. This uncle Michael live? Uh in the Shores, but uh he said he was I don't even know if he's talking to my uncle or not. You know, since all of this happened. >> Driving a tan GMC or something? Okay. >> Pulling a trailer with some bikes and that on it. >> Okay. And So, I don't even know if the kids are out of the vehicle. >> Yes, they're in my room right now. So, what exactly happened? We confronted him about something that >> He's your uncle? He's my sister's brother. >> Your brother? Her uncle and his uncle. >> Okay. These are your kids? Yes. >> Okay. We confronted him last night about something that happened, okay? Cuz apparently, she was in the shower last night taking a shower and he was watching her through the bathroom window. Okay. Okay? Apparently, this isn't the first time that it's happened. >> Who Who saw him doing that? Her. She was the only one here. You saw him or Okay. And apparently, this isn't the first time it's happened. Apparently, it happened when they were in Georgia, too. Mhm. Not only to her, but to friends of hers and stuff in Georgia. That's why they would never wanted to come over to the house or anything else. And he only does it when he gets drunk. And he's been drinking real He's got a real bad drinking problem, okay? The case was no longer just about a drunk man making nonsensical claims due to his intoxication. The man, later identified as 37-year-old Charles Bruce, was desperately trying to deflect attention from what he had done. When confronted about his deeply disturbing actions, he had an outburst, clearly overwhelmed by the situation, and instead of facing the consequences, he cowardly ran away. Well, I confronted him about it, okay? I had my son come over cuz my son don't live here. And he lives in Bellevue. And I had my son come over and we confronted him about it. And it blew up. He [snorts] Did he call us last night or no? No. Okay. No, she I wasn't here and she didn't tell me about it till here just a little bit ago. >> confront him here? Yes. Okay. But but you didn't call us, right? No. Oh, you confronted him today, just now. >> Yes, I just now confronted We just now confronted him about, you know, what happened and everything else. And he went haywire, went ballistic, punching my walls, my doors, telling me he's going to take it out of my [ __ ] house, took all the started taking all the [ __ ] groceries out of the house and putting them in bags and putting them in his car, everything else. Got the kids and put all them in his car and everything else. Well, while he was hooking up the trailer, I went and got the kids out of the car cuz he's not taking the kids. And I No. But they're your kids? No, they're his. Oh, they're his kids. But he's been drinking. >> But he I know he's been drinking today. I know he has. >> Probably two or three. He's been off since about 1:00. So, who knows if he stopped it Yeah. Yeah, cuz we've confronted him about his drinking problem already. And he promised he would stop. He He promised he would stop. He wouldn't do it no more. He's been hiding them in his truck. Whose Whose truck is it? It's his. It's his truck. Is it registered now? Well, it's not even registered. >> Okay. And it's not even registered. The tag's been expired since 2022. So you So I just want to make sure I got it correct though. So you guys confronted him, everything became like really heated verbally, right? And then he started And then he started punching the walls and doors and and he took and then he took a knife and threatened to slices wrist and saying he's going to kill himself and So So he We really need to be focused on maybe place him on our back rack cuz that would sound like that. Yes. All right. Charles handled the situation in the worst way possible. Aware of his own guilt, he couldn't deal with the consequences closing in on him as his family began to question his actions and he chose to flee with his children who were only saved because of their aunt. The family had endured years of suffering at his hands, something that was clear in the way they spoke about the situation. And now let me tell you let me tell you now, okay? The whole As mad as he gets, do not Okay. We don't just go I know people think that but we That's not what we do. >> without a fight. Mhm. He is saying he's going Why are you Why are you Why are you Why are you my husband? You will have to taze him. He's fought law enforcement before. Does he have any weapons on him now? Not that we know of. He's He's going to I know he doesn't know. He doesn't have any Son, he can't get it. Yes, I know he doesn't have but I don't know if he grabbed a He is very physical, very violent or anything else because he's threatened Just for a 10-33. This is going to be a 34 tango. Um they're saying he is violent with law enforcement, has been in the past. They don't believe he has any but he might have some vehicle and they believe he will fight law enforcement. He's in a tan GMC truck and he's got a trailer with a Georgia tag on it. It should have some bikes in the back. Um he might be heading to the Shores area. That's where his uncle lives. Okay. >> And he said I don't know where my uncle's storage unit is. He just sold his house in Georgia and moved down in here with his best friends and and his best friend lives in the Shores and he's He's a uh storage unit but I don't know where it is. I've never been over there. >> I'm going to get his 43 now. Get it to you here in a second. Um, do you have You don't have like a picture of his uh ID or anything, do you? Does he have a Florida ID or is that what it is? >> No, Georgia. What's his first name? Charles. What kind of trailer is it? It's just like one of the ones that like you almost like a utility trailer. It's not anything enclosed. >> one or Not even that. >> black? No, it's um like wrought iron with wood uh sides and all that. >> I don't have a picture of his ID but I do have his birthday and stuff. >> it's going to be like a black iron open trailer like a regular utility trailer. She doesn't think it's even 10-ft long. He's got a I know he's got bikes and stuff in the back of it. >> or >> No, like pedal bikes and like lawn equip- like a tiller and stuff like that in it, too. They said it should have like a tiller and some bicycles in the back of it right now and lawn equipment. I'm going to run him here real quick. I'll be right back. Oh. 6087. He's right here in the neighborhood. He just passed by the house and we tried to catch up. At this point, Charles was spotted driving near the property and the officer didn't waste any time, immediately initiating a pursuit. Looks like he's heading westbound on 94th Street from 30th Terrace. Southbound >> [music] >> 31st Court. Southbound 95th Place. He's not stopping. I can't get him on the station where I'm at. What's his location? Hey, Bubba. Hey. Hey. Yo, you're not you're You're not going You're not going to jail. Listen. You're not going to jail. No, you're not. You need to talk. YOU'RE LYING ON ME. All because she didn't [ __ ] come and get ME INSTEAD OF BLAMING ME. CAN YOU GUYS Can you guys go inside for me right now? While being pursued, Charles ran through red lights and failed to stop even after the officer activated the siren. He then drove back to the house where he began aggressively confronting the officer. His behavior made it clear that the family's earlier claims were serious and even with an officer present he refused to calm down, continuing his troubled behavior toward everyone involved. Bubba, Bubba, Bubba, don't break your truck, man. It It ain't worth wrecking your truck over. It's okay, I'm telling you. I'm not here I broke a god I'm not here about that. I'm here just to make sure that you're mentally good. >> I never touched anything. >> I don't want you to to I don't want you to get hurt, man. That's the problem. Charles began defending himself, insisting that he had done nothing wrong, but the girl's condition told a very different story. Yelling obscenities and continuing his aggressive behavior only hurt his case, painting a clear picture of the troubled man the family had been living with. That's why I'm here. I'm not here about any damage to a house. I'm not here about anything like that. I'm here to make sure that you're safe. But either way, if they call and say I was doing something that you better go check and see if they're lying because I got some lies, too. >> I can do that. Well, go check then. >> I'm not going to do it now. We're going to deal with this right now, okay? Oh, I'm I'm not going nowhere. I'M NOT GOING TO GO. THEY GOT [ __ ] keys now. It always ends up with I ain't going to jail. >> step out of the car for me, man? You ain't doing this. You ain't doing that. Then all of a sudden it's all this Can Can you step out of the car for me? >> I'm not getting out of this car. I'm telling you, I need you to step out of the car. >> I'm not getting out. Listen, we're going to get you some help, man. You're not going to hurt yourself. Y'all ain't putting me in a mental institution. You got me We don't put people in mental mental institutions. >> I got a I got a job. I got to work. I got a [ __ ] coming tomorrow. Go to hell, no. No. Y'all ain't fixing to me over. I really don't give a [ __ ] right now. Been here before. I got you. >> It's all right. I hear you. Yeah, you hear me. Y'all better shut up and just leave me the [ __ ] alone. Either that >> We're not We're not shooting you, man. >> No, then go. I ain't done nothing wrong except for leave. I didn't say you did anything wrong. >> My uncle made me come back and drop the trailer off so he could get it. That's the only reason why I come back. I never did anything to them. I never touched them. I never touched anything at all except for my stuff. That's like a more units and then we're going to try to Charles try to take them these are people out there. Hey, look, man. There's no I just want to figure out what the hell is going on, all right? My niece blamed me for looking in her window, and instead of coming out of the room to make me come out here to look, she said she seen a hand, so automatically it's me, because one of her friends said that she thought she seen me doing it 10 years ago. I said, "WHAT THE TALKING ABOUT? I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER LAST WEEK." EVEN though he was confronted by three officers, Charles refused to back down. He insisted he was innocent, despite having fled after being ordered not to do so. He was desperately trying to talk his way out of the situation, but everything he had done up to that point only made things worse for him. But it's cool. Y'all good. You can open it if you want, man. Like our main thing is we don't want to have >> I'm not worried about that. You know I ain't done nothing. So I'm not going to jail. You're not going to jail, but I told you that. Because I did nothing wrong. Then then why are y'all even here? Cuz like I said, like I said, we're we're here for broke stuff. Go prove that I broke it, and then if there's nothing broke, leave, cuz I did nothing wrong. >> to partner. We're going to ask you one time to step out. I'm stepping out. >> Yes, you are going to step out. >> I did nothing wrong. >> out if you don't step out. For what? Because. Step out. For what? Step out once again. And cuz I'm going to jail for nothing. Come on out. All right, well, I'm just complying. Come on out. Get out of the car, all right? I'll I'll I'll get out, but god damn it, I already know what is going to this is not even fair, man. I did nothing wrong. There's no damage in that house. All I did was grab my and leave. I never touched them nothing, cuz this is let me get blamed, bro. No, it's cool. I'mma get out, BUT Y'ALL Y'ALL AIN'T GOT TO BE RIGHT THERE, BRO. I'm not running. All right. I mean, where am I going to run with 10 dudes, bro? >> Come on out. Cuz I'm not going to jail. Come on out. I didn't do anything wrong. >> going to You're not going to jail. Did anybody say you're going to jail? Uh I've told you numerous times you're not. >> bro. It's just that's way it is. >> You're not going to jail. Put your hands right here. Come on. Look, yeah. Y'all y'all good. You're good, bubba. I ain't even tripping. >> they already told me that. You just put your hands up here for me, okay? >> damn thing, bro. Okay. Okay. You're good. So. All right. At this point, there was nothing Charles could do to avoid his fate. He had done everything possible that day to put himself in that situation, and now there was no way back. All right. Uh please don't >> Whatever you like, bro. Look, we're going to help you. Well, I'll I'll let you light it, okay? Here, and then you cooperate, we'll cooperate, okay? I'm going to jail, bubba. How many How many times have I told you that? >> Yeah, I'm going to jail. You're not going to jail. >> For nothing. Y'all going to rack up some stupid nothing. But I did nothing wrong. I didn't touch them. I didn't break nothing. I grabbed my stuff and I left. All right. That is it. Okay. I didn't do anything wrong. I'm getting blamed for something I didn't get upset because it's bull Listen, I haven't lied to you this whole time. You're not going to jail. All right, man. Please. Just don't Cuz if I go, I'm going to smash my head against every brick wall y'all got. You're not going to jail. I don't give I'm going to fake it till y'all let me out of that little box you put me in, I will. I don't give going to have it whether y'all like it or not. If you leave me alone, so it don't matter. I did nothing wrong. >> I I didn't say you did, bub. But when you start telling me that you're going to kill yourself or hurt yourself, man, Well, well, then that's what we got to do. Cuz there ain't no point in living no more. You already took my kids once. You're going to do it again now? Bubba, listen to me, okay? We're going to take you to just get to talk to someone to get a No, see You're not going to a mental institution. No, man. But you're not going to You're not going to jail, bubba. Listen. Listen. Tater, there you Y'all with me? It's not a mental institu- You're not Yo. You're just going to talk to somebody. I'm going to You're just going to talk to somebody. That's it. I'm not. Otherwise, >> What? otherwise, we're just going to take you to talk to someone, man. That's all I don't need nobody to talk to. >> Well, then I do disagree. You might hit my camera. Really, y'all? Really? Really? Really? What are you doing, Xavier? All right, bud. God. I can't do this I'm not a kid. I didn't do anything wrong, man. Even inside the patrol car where he was expected to finally calm down, Charles continued to insist on his version of events, not giving the officer a single moment of relief from the constant headache he created. Buddy, you're not going to jail, okay? I told you that. But I care about you. I know I don't even know you, but I care about you, too. You're not I'm I'm telling you I'm giving you my word as a man, you're not going to jail, okay? Do you hear me? My concern is your safety. My concern is Okay, but you know what? When you say stuff like that, you're going to get a bunch of us, right, bub? Doesn't that make sense? >> I well, I'm yeah, I don't want to go to jail. I I didn't do anything wrong. You didn't. But we got it we got to get you taken care of, man, cuz Y'all going to put me in a mental institution, I'm going to lose job and lose my kids again. No. No. It's You're going to a hospital, buddy. We're not We don't put people in mental mental institutions. You Six, seven, eight, SOMETHING. YOU DID THIS. IN THE END, Charles was charged with possession of a weapon, fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer with lights and sirens activated, [music] obstruction without violence, possession of narcotics, and failure to register a motor vehicle.
