MOM! HELP! ON May 31st, 2025, officers from the Kane County Sheriff's Office responded to a report that a teenager was physically assaulting his grandmother. Upon arrival, officers immediately realized the seriousness of the call when they saw the grandmother's life in imminent danger. Get up, NOW. I WILL KNOCK YOU HEY! WATCH OUT, MAN. [ __ ] The teenager, later identified as 18-year-old Kody Weibel, was seen attacking his grandmother, 71-year-old Debbie, through the home security camera, which was being monitored by his aunt. When officers arrived, Kody was found on top of the victim and later bit the officer's face as he attempted to restrain the deranged teen. Even while being held down, Kody remained unruly, making it clear that if officers had waited even a moment longer to intervene, the outcome of that night could have been far worse. Get her. She lay on the floor, so injured that even speaking seemed difficult. Being trapped inside her own home with her grandchild in the midst of a violent outburst was nothing short of living through a house of horror, as she had little chance to defend herself. Nothing could justify the violence of Coda's actions. Even so, the teenager continued his aggressive behavior, resisting and pushing every possible limit. Grab my arm, my leg. Stop. YOU. At this point with Debbie safe from her unruly grandson, officers were able to restrain Coda and begin to bring the situation under control. However, the teen's behavior up to that moment made it clear that simply handcuffing him would not be enough requiring a more forceful approach from the officers. >> Good boy. While some officers worked to restrain Dakota, another officer turned his attention to Dakota's aunt, who had witnessed the disturbing events of the night through the home's surveillance camera. We knew a couple years ago he had a little bit of stint with some Um we know he smoked pot. Other than that, the last couple years we've distanced ourselves from him, so I don't know According to the aunt's account, Koda had been causing trouble within the family in recent years, sometimes getting involved with narcotics. Thanks to the family's vigilance, the outcome of that night did not turn darker than it already was. The grandmother would be able to recover from the attack, and Koda would ultimately face the consequences of his disturbing actions. What was going on when you guys got there? I arrived when he was already down, and they were just holding him, so I'm not 100% sure, but from what dispatch said, I think they have cameras inside of the house cuz somebody was watching the cameras, and they were telling us to step it up cuz when the first deputy got on scene, he started So, I'm not 100% sure what transpired when the deputy got there. I believe the taser was deployed, and I'm going to assume the blood on his nose is the deputy probably. I saw like some blood on the nose. I'm not sure if that's Yeah, could be. All right, so he was on top of grandmother? Yeah, yeah. That's what they what King Kong had told us. Okay. In the end, Koda was charged with attempted first-degree murder, multiple felony battery charges, resisting a peace officer, and underage alcohol possession.
