PUT YOUR HANDS UP! PUT YOUR HANDS OUT THE WINDOW NOW! KEEP YOUR HANDS UP! >> DECEMBER 4TH, 2025, Ormond Beach, Florida. Ardeep Coma was heading to work going 88 mph on US1 with lights and sirens tailing him for almost 2 miles. Every other car on the road pulled over. HE DID NOT. >> DRIVER, OPEN THE DOOR WITH YOUR LEFT HAND. STEP OUT OF THE CAR AND KEEP YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR. TURN AROUND. BACK UP. STOP. Get down on your knees. Get down on your knees. >> It's Ardeep Coma. >> What's going on? Wow. >> What What is happening? >> else in the car? >> No. My wife is not. >> Dummy. >> What is going on? >> You're under arrest. That's what's going on. >> For what? >> Fleeing and eluding. >> Fleeing and eluding? >> Yeah. >> When did that happen? >> Can you check him? >> Yeah. Yeah, I got >> All right, cool. Uh I went to the academy >> The moment Colma steps out of the car, the situation shifts. He is no longer just a fleeing suspect. He is a Flagler County detective with a sidearm, a badge, and a completely different understanding of what just happened on that road. The officers do not know any of that yet. They are working with what they have, an unregistered plate, 88 mph, and a car that did not stop for almost 2 miles. But then there was a twist. >> You may have to take him cuz it's they know each other. They went to the academy together. >> I know him very, very well. He's one of actually He's he's a good dude. >> Flagler deputy. >> Okay. Well, he's under arrest today. >> They went through the academy together, but that personal connection did not change anything, and the arresting officer makes that clear. He's under arrest today. >> Yeah. >> Except for your car. >> That's a uh county car? >> Can I have a Flagler County >> Okay. All right. I don't know what the hell's going on here. >> Yeah. Yeah, I just legit I legit legit saw him trying to stop stick me, and I was like, "What the hell?" And I just pulled over. >> No way. >> Yeah, so I have I have no idea what's going on. >> Okay. >> Colma says the stop sticks are what finally made him pull over. That is significant because for the entire stretch from the airport to this point, he had no awareness of what was happening behind him, or at least that is his account. The sergeant's account is considerably different. Before we get to the fallout, do me a favor. If you like body cam stories where the badge doesn't automatically win the argument, hit subscribe. Case Point is all about the moments when accountability finally steps into the room. >> The officer >> Yeah, um US-1 at the Tomoka River Bridge, or more like Airport One. 88 88 Lights and sirens whole way. >> Run red light or anything? >> No, but wasn't stopping and then got into the right lane and just accelerated. Hey. >> Hey. >> All right. >> Yeah. I don't know why he put me in that situation. >> Who is he? >> Yeah, so he's going today. He's got um I don't know if he's like a detective or something, but he's got his gun, his ID. >> Who is he? >> I would detective major case. >> I'm going to call the chief. >> I'm I'm already waiting on that. I'm going to call better. Up there. >> I'll call the chief. >> It is what it is, man. >> It It is. It really is. You know, and it wasn't even like it was a oops, I didn't see you because all the other cars got off the road and he was driving around all of them. 88 miles an hour. >> Did you talk to him yet? >> No. I ain't got nothing to say to him. >> All right. >> He put me in this situation. >> No, I know. I just didn't know >> That's irritating. He didn't turn his lights on or nothing. >> The sergeant is rightfully frustrated. Not because a law enforcement officer was arrested, because every civilian on that road got out of the way and he just kept going. That it turned out to be a detective does not change what the sergeant was required to do. >> What's up, man? All right, I'm Sergeant Brown with the Ormond Beach Police Department, okay? >> Yes, sir. How are you? >> Good. You have the right to remain silent and anything you say may be used as evidence against you. You have the right to talk to an attorney and have him or her with you now or during any time during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you. If at any time you wish to stop talking or have an attorney present, all questioning will be stopped at your request. Do you understand these rights? >> I understand. >> With your rights in mind, are you willing to speak to me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So So I'm heading south on US1, you're heading north on US1. >> Yeah. >> In the uh 800 block there and you're traveling 88 miles an hour. So I turn around and I'm going to conduct a traffic stop on you. >> Yes, sir. >> I get in behind you at Airport and US1 with my lights and sirens activated. >> All righty. >> And you continue to drive. >> Yeah. >> All the other traffic on the roadway is yielding to me for my lights and sirens and you continue to drive in the northbound lane with my lights and sirens active. You merge to the outside lane and you continue to drive around all the other cars that are yielding to me and you're still failing to stop. So, I call out a fleeing vehicle. We set up stop sticks up here. >> Yeah. >> There was a malfunction. You drive around them. >> Yeah. >> And then you stop here. >> Yeah, I saw I saw I saw Sarge throwing the stop sticks and I I immediately pulled over. I had no idea what >> Why didn't you pull over the two or three miles when I have my lights on behind you? >> I actually I did not notice you at all. My windows are very tinted and it's very dewy in the morning. Um I swear to God. They're very dewy in the morning. I've been pulled over by you guys before. I've stopped. I've I have no reason to flee or elude. So, I was did not My windows are super cuz it's a UC vehicle. They're super dark and tinted. I listen to music and >> Colma waives his Miranda rights and agrees to speak and his explanation is consistent. He had no awareness that anyone was behind him. The sergeant's counter is equally consistent and it is the one the camera supports. Every other car on that road pulled over. Colma did not. >> There's no way that you didn't hear my siren or see all my lights. There's no way. >> I didn't >> All the other public out here on the roadway saw and heard me and yielded to me and you drove around all of them. When I finally turned my lights off because I'm not going to proceed, you accelerated even more. Okay? >> I apologize. >> That's it? >> Yeah, I apologize. >> Okay, well, you're under arrest today for fleeing and eluding, okay? >> Yep. >> Nothing in that conversation likely would have changed the sergeant's mind, let alone an apology. >> You sure you're okay? >> Yeah, I just >> I know, but it [ __ ] sucks. >> It's irritating, yeah. I don't arrest other cops, but everybody's fine, but slight incident this morning? Um no, it's it's involving me. Um uh went to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle going 88 on US1. Got in behind them at Airport and 1. Lights and sirens. Failed to stop. Accelerated. Going around the traffic yielding to me. Went to the outside lane. Lights and sirens still. Accelerated. Finally shut it down. We had some guys up here on the north end with sticks. Um drove around the sticks and then stopped. Uh got him out at gunpoint, and it's a Flagler County major case detective. So, he's he didn't see or hear me. It's it's not an excuse. So, he's he's 10-15, and uh Flagler County sending someone down to pick all this stuff up. >> After recounting the incident back with the arresting officer's command post, it was cut and dry. Coma was 10-15, meaning Coma was arrested and secured, and that wasn't going to change. Don't go anywhere because the stop itself is only part of the story. What happens after this is where the case really starts to turn. And while you're here, subscribe to Case Point so you don't miss the next officer who thought the rules didn't apply to them. >> I'm just going to >> You have all been like I It's hard for me not to put myself in this situation obvious for obvious reasons. >> Yeah. >> You know what I mean? Because that's what I'm off, but are you off? >> Did you catch that? He checked to make sure his fellow officer's body cam was off before saying what he really thought. The moment he realized it was still recording, he changed course. So, we'll never know what he was actually about to say. >> Like for me, it is what it is, you know. >> I'm just going to hang out here to see who comes. >> You want me to hang out with you? >> Yeah, because I've got like all of his credentials and gun and stuff like that. Gosh. >> All right, he was just like cuz he had to get his arm sorry. >> Well, he says that he didn't see or hear me. I mean, I He really doesn't have anything I really didn't have any questions for him. >> Yeah. >> Because I mean, it was just so cut and dry. >> What was going on in his head? >> I don't know. >> I was going to get another pin, man. I think what That's like the ultimate feeling of disappointment when you miss a stick hit, and especially when like you're in the prime position, got plenty of time, and then you still miss. >> That's right. >> God, this sucks. >> I know. It is not like one of them be like, "Oh, okay." >> No, dude. I mean, like at the end of the day, like if anybody is certain about something with this, it's you. >> I don't I have no doubt. It just sucks. >> But what he thought something of it. >> The officers processed their own reactions to the stop. The frustration of a clean setup that did not execute. What Coma was thinking during those almost 2 miles. Regardless, the camera caught the acceleration when the lights went off. That detail alone is what makes his account difficult to reconcile. >> Hey, LeBron. >> Specifically for earlier. >> All right. Hey, good morning, sir. Hey, LeBron. >> More stories. >> Nice to meet you. >> All right. >> So, you want to run down on what happened, or do you just want to take take the stuff? >> If you can give me a brief, I handle internal stuff like that. >> Okay, I figured you guys were going to come to the PD, so um just real quick, he was going 88 up US1. I get in behind him at Airport in 1 with my lights and sirens on this vehicle like almost rear-ending him. Um all the other traffic was merging out of the way and he was driving around them. Um my patrol sergeant here put stop sticks out on the road, he drove around them and then stops here. Uh he says he never heard or saw anything. Uh and it's it's 1.9 mi from where I lit him up to here. >> Okay. You said the PD? >> They're at the PD. >> A Flagler County representative arrives on scene and the sergeant briefs him. The representative does not challenge any of it. Instead, he apologizes that the officers had that to deal with that day. >> Yeah, he's been transported to our PD. I've got his um he had his sidearm and some uh magazines with him. >> Yeah. >> And and his ID. I've got his wallet and his phone, that'll go up with him to the jail. Okay. >> If I can get his gun and his ID, we'll be >> Yes, sir. >> Thank you for this. >> Yes, sir. >> Sorry you guys had to go through this. >> Yeah, it sucks. >> Yeah. >> Sorry. >> Hey, you did your job. >> I I think they're still on the roof. Yes, sir, they're still on the roof. And then is anyone going to come by our PD? >> You know, we really don't We want you guys to be able to just do your job. >> Okay, I just wanted to check cuz I can, you know, take you guys there or whatever. >> No, we'll get you out of there. >> Okay. All righty. >> Follow whatever normal procedure you guys would do. We'll get everything later. >> Did you catch that? Coma's own colleagues told the arresting officer to follow procedure and treat him the same as anyone else arrested for the same offense. That's not something you always hear from fellow officers. In the end, Detective Ardid Coma was charged with fleeing and eluding. Those charges were subsequently dismissed after an order of no information was filed with the court. Following an internal investigation, Coma was suspended without pay for 2 days and prohibited from using his agency vehicle for 90 days. In turn, on April 8th, 2026, Detective Ardit Coma filed a civil lawsuit against Sergeant Caleb Brown and the city of Ormond Beach in the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The lawsuit, seeking compensatory damages for false arrest and unlawful felony charges, remains active and ongoing with no final judgment or conclusion being reached at the time of this reporting. Tell us in the comments, after watching this footage, do you think the sergeant had any other option?
