Springfield, February 14th, 2:28 p.m. A bank lobby turns into a trap. >> Three different accounts at Truis Bank. Did you make any deposits of any >> just like my regular money of just opening up an account? Like the 50 100 bucks that they require to open up the bank account. >> There was something I received that mentions like 2,000 something for a TR account. >> Are you sure it's not my TR account with my name on it? >> I don't know. That's why I'm asking you. It doesn't It doesn't specify any names. It could be for my account. >> Okay, so you have a personal account which is me, Julia. >> The officer steps in, calm, but cutting, and every shaky answer from the suspect makes the trap tighten. One look, a few questions, and the whole scam starts to unravel. >> Hey, ma'am. >> Hey, so we got called here. I guess that they had some suspicious activity from you. So, um, if you want to go talk to them, see what's coming. She's going to go see why we've been called here. >> Okay. Give me one Give me one second. Okay. >> No, we need to talk to you. >> Okay. Can I talk to my son's school for? We need you to go in here. I'm going to just talk to you. We got to find out what's going on. Can we just go in here, please? >> Y. All right. >> Officers step in on a suspicious activity call, calmly interrupting Madison's phone excuse as the tension quietly begins to build. >> And that kind of thing of somebody else. So, we think it's a fraud, right? And we believe that she's part of it. >> Okay. Is anyone else here that's on site? This just her. Okay. >> And this is the ID that she provided with you today. >> And she was here because we gave her a credit card yesterday >> and she immediately transferred money off of it like a cash advance and she was here to get the cash. But that's been what every other person has done too. Um, so they've just kind of all been red flagged into the same group, which anybody can do what they want to with a credit card, but it's because of all of the things matching. Every one of them gave us a Duke Energy bill. Every one of them um said they're traveling nurses working out of Orlando. The bank reveals the red flags fast. Outo out ofstate IDs, fake Duke energy bills, traveling nurse stories, and the same $4,000 cash request proving Madison is running the exact fraud pattern seen all week. >> But anyway, so we had kind of been watching that. Yesterday, this young lady and another person, >> a guy came in. >> That that guy, >> the other guy that was up here a week ago >> were what was their story? they were together or >> he came in wanting a credit card specifically, which so did the other guy. So the other guy that we had been watching um he came in wanting a credit card. This guy came in wanting a credit card and an account. They knew exactly like they came super prepared. Like I remember my other MSR also saying like I've never had a member come in that was so prepared. Usually if we need verification of address or something, it's an issue because people don't come in thinking you're going to have to verify the address. A teller reveals Madison came in with a man the day before, a detail she denies, instantly exposing a major crack in her story. We're doing a giveaway for a $200 Amazon gift card when we hit 1,000 subscribers. Make sure to smash that subscribe button and comment below so we know to add you into the raffle. Thanks, and best of luck to everyone who enters. The utility bill's mismatched fonts expose the obvious fake. >> But anyway, so we had kind of been watching that yesterday. This young lady and another person, >> a guy came in. >> That that guy >> the other guy that was up here a minute ago >> where what was their story? They were together or >> he came in wanting a credit card specifically, which so did the other guy. So the other guy that we had been watching um he came in wanting a credit card. This guy came in wanting a credit card and an account. They knew exactly like they came super prepared. Like I remember my other MSR also saying like I've never had a member come in that was so prepared. Usually if we need verification of >> Madison gets nervous and tries to bolt mint check. >> Guess you're traveling. Can you just tell me exactly? I don't know. >> I lived in Michigan in Illinois. I owned over there. I started traveling out here. I worked for Orlando regional. I lived out here with my friends. I rent for 500 >> here in Ocala. >> Yes. Okay. I gave him a bill with everything on it. You should have never been issued. >> Yeah, they're saying that I guess >> I'm really not. >> They flagged you. Um, so do you have a Florida ID or have you been issued? But you you're a nurse at OAMS in Orlando. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So now I was going to >> How long have you been a nurse in Orlando? >> A year I've been Well, not in Orlando. I've been a nurse in general. A year. >> Okay. >> Back and forth. I'm a travel. Okay. >> I'm a travel nurse. >> All right. So you reside in Ocala and you trans you go back and forth. >> Yes. Okay. So, um >> Yes, baby. I hear you. >> And you have never been issued a Florida ID? >> I haven't been around to it yet. >> You haven't been around to getting So, the answer is no. >> No. >> Okay. All right. >> Outside, her shaky answers crumble under sharper questioning >> to do is give me your real name. Okay? Cuz what's going to happen is you're going to be booked at the jail under John Doe and I'm going to put a bond on there where no one can bond you out. Okay? So, give me your name. >> What is it? >> J U L I A. >> Sorry. >> I'm going to let you pee and then we're going to go to the district. >> Well, hold on a second and I apologize. So, I know you didn't come here alone. Where is he waiting for you at? >> He blessed already. >> No. You guys from Orlando? What kind of car does he drive? >> It's a Honda. I know you're blue Honda and it's a rental. >> Okay. It's a blue Honda. >> It's a light blue, dark blue. >> Dark blue. >> Okay. Uh four-door, twodoor. Okay. And uh where will you park that? >> The detective pressures her hard and she's cuffed moments later. >> What What's your address in Orlando? >> Um I don't have an address. Stay at an Airbnb. >> You're staying in an Airbnb. >> Mhm. Where I go to a hotel. I don't have >> Okay. >> In the interview room, her excuses fade as reality closes in. >> And Justin opened up an account as well. >> Mhm. >> You don't know Justin's last name? What club did you meet him at? Um, Diamond Dolls. >> Diamond Dolls. >> Yeah. >> And he works there. >> No. >> No. >> Customer. >> He's a customer. >> Yeah. I was just there drinking with my French. We just met. >> Gotcha. >> Yeah. >> Do you know these guys information? >> No. To be honest, I do not. >> Were they there with you? >> Um, the only the Justin guy. >> Okay. >> What other guys? I just heard guys. >> Sorry. >> Yeah, that's who I was with. That's Justin. That's Justin. >> She finally cracks revealing Justin built the entire scam. >> There's a debit card. >> There's a debit card for her. So then I >> So you I don't think that she got approved. >> So >> when you say approved, what do you mean? >> Like for a credit card? >> For a credit card. So So this >> these are just checking accounts. >> Okay. So you and um when you open those checking accounts, do you deposit money in there? >> Um just to how much they need to open up the account, which is like $50 $50. Yeah. >> So, you would go to the bank, open the account, and then >> ask it back and apply for a credit card >> that same day. >> She explains the operation, a rotating pipeline of fake IDs and bank accounts. >> There's a debit card. >> There's a debit card for her. So, then I >> So you I don't think that she got approved. >> So, >> when you say approved, what do you mean? >> Like for a credit card. >> For a credit card. So, so this >> these are just checking accounts. >> Okay. So you and um when you open those checking accounts, do you deposit money in there? >> Um just to how much they need to open up the account, which is like $50 $50. >> So you would go to the bank, open the account, and then >> ask if I can apply for a credit card >> that same day. >> Every detail matches the ring, placing her squarely inside it. >> My trousers account with my name on it. >> I don't know. That's why I'm asking you. It doesn't It doesn't specify any names. >> It could be It could be for my account. >> Okay. So, you have a personal account with the truth. It's me, Julia. >> Okay. All right. Just hang tight a few more. All right. Thank you. >> All the evidence align, sealing her role in the fraud ring. She was charged with organized fraud, forgery, and identity theft. Sentenced to 116 days in jail, 48 months probation, and 300 hours of community service. What's your take? Drop a comment, hit like, and subscribe for more.
