on the ground.
>> walk your way into a felony. Okay? Don't
do that.
>> What?
>> Refusing this is a felony. We're trying
to get you out of here.
>> Upon booking, Joliet police discovered
that the suspect, 32-year-old Brittany
Gaston, had been driving on a suspended
license.
That revelation helped explain why she
may have been so reluctant to provide
officers with her information and why
she allowed the encounter to escalate to
the point where force was used.
Police also discovered that Gaston had
previously been arrested in Joliet in
2019 after authorities said she spat on
hospital nurses while intoxicated. In
that case, she was charged with felony
aggravated battery to a nurse.
The driver she had rear-ended reportedly
suffered only minor injuries.
Gaston then refused to cooperate with
booking procedures at the police station
and was ultimately booked into the Will
County Jail on charges including felony
aggravated battery to a peace officer,
obstructing justice, resisting, leaving
the scene of an accident, driving on a
suspended license, and failure to reduce
speed to avoid an accident. She was also
issued citations totaling approximately
$1,620.
Her bond was set at $50,000.
According to sources we were unable to
independently verify, Gaston reportedly
remained in jail for approximately 2
months. She remains presumed innocent
unless and until proven guilty in court.
