But, don't reach for that firearm.
Walk away from your bike. Keep your
hands up.
Keep your hands up. You're being secured
cuz you're openly carrying a firearm.
>> What?
>> You're openly carrying a firearm.
>> I'm carrying a pepper ball. You already
know that.
>> Okay, I dictate this traffic stop, not
you. Do you understand me?
>> you yanking my helmet off?
>> to take your helmet off.
>> What are you yanking my helmet off?
>> I'm trying to identify you cuz I can't
see you.
>> to identify me?
>> Jeremy, Jeremy, I'm going to explain
this to you right now and I want you to
listen up and I want you to stop running
your mouth. All right, you sound like a
little child out here running your
mouth.
>> it's not about me.
>> Jeremy, listen to me. I'm going to tell
it to you. Okay? You're being arrested
for carrying a concealed weapon. That's
what you're being charged with.
>> When notorious serial cop impersonator
Jeremy [music] DeWitt gets pulled over
on his motorcycle, things escalate
instantly from a routine traffic stop to
a gunpoint takedown. Today, we break
down the dramatic roadside [music]
arrest, the chaotic arguments over his
weapon, and his surreal ride-along
transport. Let's get into it.
>> But, don't reach for that firearm.
Walk away from your bike.
Keep your hands up.
Keep your hands up. Go down to your
knees. Do not reach for that firearm. Do
not reach for that firearm. Go down to
your knees. Go down to your stomach. Do
not reach for that firearm. Go down to
your stomach now. Do not reach for that
firearm.
Do not reach for that firearm.
You hear me?
>> Yes.
>> Deputies draw down on Jeremy DeWitt
[music] during a traffic stop, screaming
commands for him to step away from his
motorcycle, keep his hands up, and drop
[music] to his knees and stomach.
>> You're being secured cuz you're openly
carrying a firearm.
>> What?
>> You're openly carrying a firearm.
>> I'm carrying a pepper ball. You already
know that.
>> I do not know that. That is a firearm.
That is a firearm right now.
That's a firearm. I do not know what's a
pepper ball. That looks like a regular
firearm.
>> You know it's a pepper ball. You even
said in case you don't know what a
pepper ball is.
You even told me in the email that it's
a
pepper ball.
>> Stay with him.
>> Officers secured DeWitt in handcuffs,
immediately [music] clashing over the
weapon strapped to his waist, while
DeWitt insists over and over that it is
only a less lethal pepper ball gun.
>> Leave my camera alone, bro.
>> Jeremy
>> Leave my camera alone.
>> No, you're not going to talk to me.
Okay, I dictate this traffic stop, not
you. You
>> What are you doing? What are you yanking
my helmet off?
>> I'm trying to take your helmet off.
>> What are you yanking my helmet off?
>> I'm trying to identify you cuz I can't
see you.
>> to identify me?
Bro, leave my camera alone.
What are you
>> Go ahead and sit up.
Stay right there.
>> Frustrated deputies attempt to pull off
DeWitt's [music] helmet to properly
identify him on camera, leading to a
heated shouting match right on the
asphalt.
>> Give me a lieutenant. It was in plain
view.
It's in plain view. How am I being
>> Call call for a cage car.
Okay.
>> Give me a lieutenant.
>> Go ahead and stand up, Jeremy.
>> Give me a lieutenant. Give me a
lieutenant.
Give me a lieutenant.
>> Jeremy, just be quiet.
>> No, give me a lieutenant.
>> Jeremy, just be quiet.
>> You got to You can't
Come on, man.
>> DeWitt repeatedly shouts [music] for a
lieutenant and argues that his gear was
in plain view, while deputies tell him
to quiet down and wait for a cage car to
arrive.
>> Put it down, Jeremy.
>> He wasn't talking
>> Sit down. No, I'm telling you to sit
down. Go ahead and sit down. On on the
ground. On the ground till we get a cage
car.
It's falling off over the side.
Go ahead and sit on your butt.
Take your legs out.
I checked.
>> Officers order an uncooperative Dewitt
[music] to sit down on the ground with
his legs extended against the roadside
until transport arrives to take him to
the station.
>> Self-defense purposes.
>> Jeremy, Jeremy, I'm going to explain
this to you right now and I want you to
listen up and I want you to stop running
your mouth.
>> Okay.
>> All right, you sound like a little child
out here running your mouth.
>> it's not a
>> to me. Jeremy, listen to me. I'm going
to tell it to you.
>> I tried.
>> Okay? You're being arrested for carrying
a concealed weapon. That's what you're
being charged with. When we get off the
roadside, I'm not going to argue with
you here on the roadside. This isn't the
place or time to argue with you. Listen
to me.
It's not the time or place to argue with
you. When we're done here, I'm going to
take you back to station and then we'll
talk about it, but I'm not going to
argue with you up here on I-4. It's not
the place. It's not the time. Okay?
>> A sergeant pulls [music] Dewitt aside to
firmly explain that he is being arrested
for carrying a concealed weapon, cutting
off [music] the roadside argument and
stating it will be discussed back at the
station.
>> Sergeant, how is that concealed?
>> Okay, Jeremy, we're going to go ahead
and stand up and go back to the car.
Ready?
1 2 3.
>> So Sergeant, how is it concealed if I
wasn't wearing a jacket and you rode up
next to me and you clearly saw it? How
was it concealed?
Can you answer that?
Sorry.
I'm asking you.
How was it concealed?
If it was in plain view, how was it
concealed?
>> Right here.
Check my legs out.
>> You're you're you're you're destroying
my business by doing what you're doing
and I didn't do anything illegal today.
>> As deputies guide [music] him toward the
vehicle, Dewitt continues firing
questions about how an open weapon on
his hip [music] could possibly be
considered legally concealed.
>> Why are we heading to a substation if
I'm in a rest under arrest?
>> I'll explain when we get there.
>> Okay.
Deputy, I'm asking you to please put in
a communication to the lieutenant to get
them there.
Deputy, I'm asking you nicely and please
advise the lieutenant to come out to
this
>> They will.
>> During the ride to the substation,
Dewitt questions the deputies about the
[music] route and keeps pushing his
narrative regarding the legality of his
equipment.
>> You got sunglasses on, you want them
off?
>> No, I'll keep them on.
>> Okay. You want your keys on?
>> Uh
yeah, the problem is is you're going to
have to help me a little bit. I can't I
can't do it by myself, so
>> Okay. Just take a seat, I'll get them.
>> Officers arrive at the facility, help
uncuff [music] and manage his gear while
Dewitt continues to debate state
statutes with the transport crew.
[music]
>> Can I use the restroom yet?
>> In a minute.
>> Take your time.
>> Take your time.
You want to take a seat or something?
>> No, I'm all right.
>> Take a seat here with the officer. All
right, I'm sorry.
>> Okay.
>> I don't mean to make you uncomfortable
with that.
>> Dewitt sits in the holding area,
periodically asking about [music]
bathroom breaks, and wondering when
command staff or investigators will
speak with him.
>> All right, thank you, ma'am.
How's it going, sir?
>> Good, how are you?
>> Good.
>> Talk outside.
>> We're going to give you a ride wherever
you want to go.
>> Wherever do want to go. Do you need a
ride?
Where can I take you?
>> Isn't it amazing how [ __ ] nice you
guys are when you screw up?
>> Thank you. Let's go.
Come on.
>> I need my uniform and my equipment back.
>> What did they say about all that?
>> They don't know yet.
>> Okay. Where can I take you?
>> Uh
I honestly don't know. Are you guys the
news?
>> We are.
>> Hey, let's go ahead and start then,
buddy. This guy's going to give me a
ride somewhere.
>> Yeah, I'll give you a ride. I'll stand
back while you talk to the
>> Can you give me a few seconds?
>> Absolutely.
You're not being detained.
How's it going, sir?
>> How are you doing?
>> I'm all right.
>> Unexpectedly, officers inform Dewitt
[music] that he is currently being
released from active detention and offer
him a courtesy ride elsewhere.
>> He was arresting me when he grabbed me
down I-4 by my helmet while my back was
being held by my helmet strap. He
dragged me like 2 or 3 ft down the
street
before he took his gun out of my face
for something like 2 or 3 minutes. There
were no crimes committed.
Then I was detained and taken to jail
and saw the judge this morning who
ordered me to be released.
>> What does your
Can your Can your lawyer handle that or
how do you do
>> Yeah, I'm good.
>> No, yeah. Well, my lawyer, Amir Ladani,
the Ladani Law Firm, is one of the best
firms here in Orlando.
Uh question.
Amir Ladani, the
the Ladani Law Firm, is one of the best
lawyers in Orlando. He handled that law,
took care of everything with the judge,
and and the case was dismissed.
>> Or dropped. And you felt like it
shouldn't have been halfway through this
whole thing.
>> I should have never been arrested. My
motorcycle should have never been towed.
I shouldn't have been aimed at by
gunpoint
and told to lay down on the asphalt or
getting rushed out of the
>> Standing outside, Dewitt complains to a
media [music] crew about how he was
handled during the arrest, claiming
physical roughness and ongoing
harassment.
>> problem is maybe it's time just to
simply line the desk and have other
people do the escort service.
>> You know, the problem with that is is
every time I send my guys out, the same
deputy that harasses those guys as well.
So, unfortunately, I can't take the
chance. I'm one of those people that
believe that I need to lead by example,
not let people go out and run things,
especially when they're out on the
street and they're getting pulled over
and harassed by the same deputy,
receiving tickets by the same deputy.
So, it's interesting to me that you
would make that statement because one of
my employees that did work for me that
now is flipping state evidence, Sergeant
Biddler got him a job over at PCI
Security so he would turn state's
evidence against me.
>> He would explain why he [music] refuses
to stay behind a desk, claiming he must
personally lead funeral escorts to
protect his employees from aggressive
traffic and police harassment.
>> stop working for
Which is kind of funny because that
violates all kinds of state rules and
laws. You can't offer somebody something
to then have them testify against me in
the
but that's their number one state lead
witness. So, but he's got a job at PCI
Security because Sergeant Biddler got
him that job.
So, unfortunately, I can't just send my
guys out by themselves on a regular. I
have to be there to make sure they're
doing a good job. And also, I have to
make sure that they're safe not only
from the traffic that we have to deal
with on a regular basis in this Orlando
is a beautiful city, as you all know.
Orlando is great.
But as you all know, traffic is horrible
in Orlando, especially I-4. And doing
funerals, they have the right of way.
You're required to yield the right of
way, just like if they had lights on
like an ambulance or a police car.
You're required to yield the right of
way per the law. The only people that
don't are police and fire. So, I have to
go out and make sure that my guys are
not only safe on escorts, but they're
also safe from the traffic, but then
they're also safe from the police.
>> He alleges that local law enforcement
injured him in a conspiracy against
[music] him, offering jobs to former
employees to turn state evidence.
>> And don't misunderstand me, please. Not
all deputies in Orlando and a lot of
Orlando Police and FHP,
most of those guys are very good men who
have been there and doing their job. And
we appreciate everything they do. I
mean,
the funeral today, I was watching it on
the news in jail. Um that was an amazing
service. You know, we were there and the
other services were other law
enforcement also. We were invited. And
you can actually do your research and
see that we were invited to those
funeral services where we attended. So,
we've always
been supporters of law enforcement.
But unfortunately, there's a small group
of law enforcement officers that are
constantly harassing my company. Not
because of anything we're doing, because
there's other companies in Orlando doing
the exact same thing, the exact same
way. The only difference is is they're
not owned by me.
And that is at the end of the day the
reason why we're being harassed.
>> In a sudden pivot, [music] Dewitt
clarifies that most police officers and
troopers in Orlando are great
professionals, and that his [music] feud
is only with a small group of deputies.
>> The inside I would love to see it.
>> Yes, you can.
>> Uh
>> Do you want me to take you somewhere?
>> Yeah, I want to give me a ride
somewhere. Where do I need to go?
>> Where do you need to go?
>> Um well, they realized that the arrest
was unlawful and illegal, so they're
they're happy to give me a ride.
>> Yeah, I can give him a ride wherever he
wants to go. I'm I'm here to assist.
>> Excuse me? Yeah, I know. I want to see
the inside of this truck.
>> You want to see the inside real quick?
Brand new. They're starting to issue
these.
>> Yeah, this is
>> Oh, you're out there.
>> He's like, what?
Yeah, they seized all my clothes. How
would I find out when I can get my stuff
back?
>> Yeah, I talked to his relief. She uh Mir
said you can get it right now.
>> Oh, I can go to
property?
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah, property over there. Yeah.
>> well.
>> Dewitt accepts a ride in a brand [music]
new clean deputy pickup truck, marveling
at the interior features and modern tech
while being driven toward holding.
>> I don't know if it's made it to evidence
yet.
>> Okay.
>> That's the thing. If it happened last
night
The deputy's confiscated or it's being
held at the jail?
>> They confiscated and seized it, they
said, for evidence.
>> The motors deputies?
>> Yes.
>> Yeah, unless they picked it up early
this morning and took it to uh evidence,
it might not be there yet.
>> What is the number?
>> I'll get you the number.
>> Thank you.
>> You're not allowed to sit.
>> Uh my mom
>> Right down the street, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Like that. 10 12?
>> I mean, if you want, I can just take you
over there. If you want to If you just
want to go over there real quick.
Yeah? I mean, it's it's it's it's
literally across the street. Slide in,
man. You're good.
Just follow me over there, okay?
>> Inside the transport [music] truck, the
deputy discusses the logistics of seized
items, explaining that confiscated gear
[music] usually takes time to process
into official evidence.
>> Have you ever been to evidence over here
before or no?
>> Yeah, yeah. I've been there one time,
long time ago.
>> Oh, okay.
No, I think so.
>> The truck pulls up to the property and
evidence division so Dewitt can check on
the status of his confiscated uniform
components and personal belongings.
>> All right. So,
I inquired. I got the case number, if
you want it.
>> I was almost there, 21693.
>> So, 21-21693. If you want to write that
down.
>> I will.
>> I would. That's important.
Um they actually got a hold of Iddler to
see what's going on with the property.
It's It's not in evidence at the moment.
And uh he told the evidence uh people
that it's not being released at this
time.
>> How's that possible?
>> I cannot say why it's not being
released, but it's not being released at
this time. If you want to follow up, you
you know what you got to do.
>> Right.
>> But as a lonely deputy here, I'm just
letting you know I took you over here to
figure out that the property is not
being released at this time.
>> Okay.
>> So, do what you got to do at that point
to
>> know how that's possible.
>> There you go.
>> 21-
>> Uh 21-21693.
>> All right.
>> Deputies check the official case logs
[music] and discover that Deputy
Dewitt's property is currently locked
down and not being released at this
time.
>> Motors Department. If I were you, I'd
just talk to somebody over there in
Motors since they they handle the arrest
and all that to to find out what what's
going on with your property. I'm sure
you I'm sure you can speak to somebody
over there as far as what's going on.
>> Yeah, I know.
>> So, yeah, I mean, if you want to speak
to somebody in Motors, maybe they can
give you an explanation as to why
they're keeping the property. You can
you can do that.
>> Okay.
>> Okay?
>> Well, thank you for your time.
>> [laughter]
>> That's all right. That's all right.
All right. Take care, man.
>> You be safe and keep that truck looking
like that.
>> I'll try.
Take it easy, guys.
>> Realizing his property cannot be
retrieved immediately, Dewitt wraps up
his conversations and parts ways with
the deputies after a deeply chaotic
ordeal. Do you think Jeremy Dewitt's
security company stands a chance in
Orlando or is his street level style
doomed to fail? Let us know in the
