It's nearly 2:00 a.m. on July 12th, 2019 in Hollandale Beach, Florida. A woman is in the living room of her best friend Sylvia's condo trying to tune out the argument piercing through the bedroom wall between Sylvia and her boyfriend Adam. >> You're literally in my bed, in my room, and in my house. Please leave because technically I could shoot your if you keep Go ahead. Do it. Suddenly, she hears a loud thump followed by silence. She steps into the bedroom to check on her friend, and what she sees sends a chill down her spine. >> I'm not sure what happened or what she got hit with, but I know that there's there's blood on the floor. She is She is 100% unconscious. Who hit her? >> I I I'm not sure. I don't know what happened. Adam Rishard Crespbow was born in Manhattan in May of 1976. Over the years, he has had addresses in New York and New Jersey before eventually settling in Florida in a one-bedroom condo in Hollandale Beach along Park View Drive, west of the Inter Coastal Waterway and just north of Miami. Relatives described Adam as someone who didn't need a classroom to learn. Self-educated and intellectually curious, he could hold his own in conversations spanning physics, art, drama, and music. An interest that found an outlet in his online alter ego, DJ Senor Crespbow. That inquiring mind had a sharper edge to it as well. Adam had a passion for martial arts and edged weapons. Kung fu certificates, martial arts materials, and hooks on blades and historical weaponry were all found throughout his residence. This was clearly more than a passing interest. Professionally, his path was unconventional. Rather than a traditional career, he earned income through his small business ventures, independent projects, and medical services. It was through that last pursuit that he would cross paths with Sylvia Galva Dugas. Adam began a romantic relationship with 30-year-old Sylvia Galva Dugas around April 2017. She was no ordinary match. Sylvia was a physician, having earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2014, followed by a 2-year family medicine residency at Western Michigan University. There she gained experience in outpatient clinics and large trauma centers. At some point, however, she stepped away from clinical practice. In 2016, Sylvia transitioned from direct patient care to medical documentation. By the time she and Adam got together, she had started her own business, Health Documents Florida, offering medical transcription and translation services. Whatever drew her away from medicine, she had quietly rebuilt her professional life on her own terms. Things between her and Adam started off well. Trips together, shared experiences, the kind of moments that make a relationship feel like it's going somewhere. Before long, they were sharing a home, a name, and a life bound not by any lawful ceremony, but by choice. Sylvia legally changed her last name to Crespbow, and the couple presented themselves publicly as husband and wife. But a shared life doesn't guarantee a peaceful one. Within months, Sylvia and Adam's relationship was mostly defined by conflict, a relentless cycle of arguments, reconciliation, and more arguments. Friends later described the relationship as a toxic pushpull cycle. Two people tethered to a pattern that wasn't serving either of them. The warning signs came early. On the night of October 17th, 2017, just months into the relationship, the two went out to a local nightclub. At around 4:30 a.m., Sylvia realized Adam had vanished, leaving her there alone. She made her way home, and what followed was exactly the kind of argument you'd expect. At some point, Sylvia began packing her things and declared the relationship over. According to the police report, that's when Adam allegedly snapped. Sylvia claimed he physically assaulted her until she managed to flee the apartment and call police. The responding officer documented blood on her face, hair, and shirt, and bruising and scratches across her upper body and knees. Retracing her steps back to the apartment, the officer observed a trail of blood in the elevator, down the hallway, on the front door, and inside the unit itself. He also noted blood on Adam's knuckles. Adam was arrested and charged with battery, and an order not to contact Sylvia was issued. But just weeks later, Sylvia had a change of heart. She signed a waiver asking the state attorney's office to drop all charges against Adam and to rescend the no contact order. Despite her request, the state moved ahead with the prosecution. Adam's case was set for a January 2018 trial, but all charges were ultimately dismissed after Sylvia refused to cooperate. Then, as they always did, the couple found their way back to each other. The cycle of conflict would continue until the night it all ended. By the summer of 2019, 2 years of unresolved conflict had taken its toll. The condo itself told part of the story, or at least Adam's version of it. Decorative swords lined the walls. Two 5-ft spears with a 12-in double-sided sheathed blade were zip tied to the foot of their metal bed frame, and historical artifacts were scattered throughout. Think Game of Thrones meets Renaissance fair. Whether it was her aesthetic or not, Sylvia had made her peace with it. It was home. But shared aesthetics don't pay the bills. Money had become a growing source of tension. Adam was unemployed, leaving Sylvia as the sole source of income. an imbalance that bred resentment on top of everything else. Finances would come up again during what turned out to be their most explosive argument. It all began on July 12th. Sylvia's best friend, Morgan, had flown in from Colorado, and the two had spent the day drinking at a friend's place. The plan was for the friends to catch a ride share home, but after tensions flared between the group, Sylvia texted Adam around 11 p.m. to come pick them up instead. On the way home, they stopped at the Diplomat Beach Resort, where Sylvia and Morgan continued drinking and spent time at the pool. They returned to the condo around 1:00 a.m. By that point, Adam says he went straight to bed, leaving Sylvia and Morgan to wind down in the living room. It didn't last. Sylvia entered the bedroom, and it wasn't long before the two were at it again. The argument escalated, and somewhere in the middle of it, Sylvia pulled out her phone and pressed record. >> Go away. Go ahead. >> Physically threaten me. Physically threatening me. Go ahead. >> I'm not physically threatening. I'm saying please leave. >> Go ahead. >> Go ahead. What? >> Go ahead and physically take me out and push me. >> Please. I'm asking you. >> This is the place where I sleep. >> No. This is the This is my room. This is my house. You need to sleep out there. >> You did nothing tonight. You haven't. You've done nothing but torture. >> I did do it. And I paid. Please leave. Please, >> Silia, please leave. You save everybody's >> your rent so that I can go to the credit card. >> Save your guest. >> You think you haven't you haven't paid? >> I don't think No, I don't think I paid everything I need to pay. >> No onto this month. That's why. >> Just can you sign? No. >> I don't need to. >> They force me. They force me. Go ahead. You want to >> I already paid rent. Force me up. Force me up. >> Listen, you're screaming. Force carrying on. force me out. >> One thing worth noting, although Adam insisted it was his condo and ordered Sylvia to leave, court records strongly suggest that Sylvia was an established resident. She lived there full-time, kept her belongings there, shared the bedroom, and had even taken his last name. In practical terms, that meant she likely had every right to be in that room. Adam could ask her to leave, but his options were limited to leaving the room himself, separating for the night, or calling the police if he felt unsafe. >> Go ahead. I want to sleep here. That's all. >> I don't want you here. >> Go ahead. Threat me. >> I don't want to threaten you. I want you out. Please leave. Silia, please. You can sleep in the couch. Just leave. I I want my peace. I want life without you. Please. I'll sleep next in the following. >> I don't you I don't I don't even want you in the room. Just leave. Just leave. It's enough. You've done enough. >> Go ahead. Do it. Do it. >> Do what? You already have done it. >> Do it. >> You've done enough. It's enough. >> Okay. I picked you up. I I let you go. I I did everything you asked and all you do is are derogatory and nasty. I don't like you. Off. Leave. >> Do it. >> Please leave. >> Do it. >> I don't want to do it. You need to do it. You need to leave. You're too angry. You're too up. You You're too pissed off. >> I want to sleep and I'm >> No, sleep outside. >> Sleeping. And he's still going to threaten me and basically Yeah. Yeah. Here he is. >> There he is. >> Please leave. and he's going to threaten me and he's going to physically he's going to physically violate me because I'm literally sleeping. >> You're literally in my bed, in my room, and in my house. Please leave because technically I could shoot your ass if you keep going. >> Go ahead. Do it. Shoot my ass. >> Just leave. >> Shoot my ass. Shoot me up. Shoot me up. >> Save your guest problems. Your guest doesn't want to see this. I don't want to show it to her. Please, just go. Save her the stress. >> If you shoot me, it will be a >> I don't want to shoot you. I want >> If he shoots me, it'll be a favor because living with him is a nightmare. Go ahead. Shoot me. >> If it's a nightmare, >> shoot me. Shoot me. Shoot me. >> Just leave. >> You say you're going to shoot me. Shoot me. >> I said I could. >> No. Shoot me. Shoot me. I'm not leaving here until you shoot me. >> No. >> Shoot me. Shoot me. Or physically. He's going to physically drag me because he's so insecure. He's going to do that. Go ahead. You're insecure. >> And by the way, sending this. >> According to witnesses, the argument inside the bedroom continued for several minutes before suddenly going silent. Moments later, Adam stepped out and asked Morgan to call 911. >> Sure. I'm not sure what happened or what she got hit with, but I know that there's there's blood on the floor. She is she is 100% unconscious. Who who is with her? >> I I I'm not sure. I don't know what happened. >> All right. Are you with her now? >> I didn't I didn't see. >> Are you with her now? >> Just a second. Adam. Adam, I need you to back up so I can see if she's conscious. Okay. >> Okay. She's un she's unresponsive. She's unresponsive to painful stimuli. Okay. >> Okay. No, listen listen to me. Listen to what I'm saying. Do Did somebody attack her? I'm I'm not sure. I don't know what happened. >> Hello. >> Come ready. Come ready. Come ready. >> What's wrong? >> You hear dog? >> Get the dog. >> The dog. >> 12 13 >> 15 16 18 19 20. She's not verbal to painful. >> Okay, rescue team. >> Officers were dispatched for what was initially designated as a medical emergency. They arrived before EMS to find Sylvia on the floor bleeding from a severe chest wound while Morgan, an EMT by trade, was performing chest compressions. >> Where's the What happened? >> She I had these on my fighting. I tried to grab She broke it off. 20. Can you please come and get her breakfast? >> She recorded the whole thing. So >> 25 28 29. >> We were fighting. She grabbed the pole. It cracked in her. >> It's a power of a Weber. It is a Weber. She grabbed it. It broke and it went 26 25. Can we at least GET SOME O2 ON HER, PLEASE? WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE? SHE'S BEEN RESPONSIVE FOR A GOOD 12 MINUTES NOW. You guys, we need to do something. >> We need to hook her up. >> Where did she hit? >> There's this thing that I had on my bed and it broke. She grabbed it and it broke and it went right into her head. >> As long as I've got you on on her chest, I've got a beautiful pulse. Adam, I need you to stand back and just chill for a moment. Just stand back. >> At this point, the priority was saving life over preserving the crime scene. Although, whenever possible, first responders tried to do both. Officers took over CPR and applied a chest seal to the wound while paramedics worked to stabilize Sylvia. She was taken to a nearby hospital, but it wasn't enough. She succumbed to her wounds shortly after. With Sylvia gone, officers turned their attention to the scene, documenting their observations and questioning neighbors to reconstruct what had happened inside that bedroom. >> So, she comes home tonight about 20 minutes ago. >> I heard him about good. I haven't heard him until about like maybe 15. Um, I tell you what time is it now, officer? Probably about about 2:00. about 1:45. >> Okay. And I heard him in there and then I heard her crying. I figured he'd beat her up again because this is probably like the third time I more than that. I know he's been arrested twice for beating her up, but I dropped the charges. >> Okay. And uh I heard them, you know, I heard them crying and I heard her crying and everything. And then how many how many of them live there? only only I hear another girl's voice in there because I heard her calling the ambulance and he was trying not to make her call her because I know he's got a lot of complaints against him. >> Okay. The girl that's in there now with her. >> I never No, >> they don't. No. >> Do you know if she lives in the building? >> No, I I never even saw her before, but I don't She doesn't live in the building. No. Okay. >> Cuz she's crying. So >> So 15 20 minutes before we get called, you hear her crying? >> Yeah, I hear her crying and then I came out. I figured he'd beat her up again. And then I >> Was she out here? >> She wasn't out here. I heard the other girl's voice say, "We need to call an ambulance. We need to call an ambulance, Adam." That's his name. And he was like, "Oh no. Oh no. Please don't." Adam Kresbow was detained and transported to the local police department for questioning. From the start, investigators had their suspicions, and for good reason. The mechanism of injury was highly unusual. Multiple neighbors reported a loud argument followed by police sirens. Inside the condo, officers documented blood evidence, mounted spears, and indications that an argument inside the bedroom had turned physical. Taken together, it was enough for detectives to notify the major crimes unit. But the picture wasn't entirely one-sided. Adam never fled. From the end of the recorded argument to the moment he instructed Morgan to call 911, only about 81 seconds had passed. Is that enough time for staging? To this point, Adam's version of events had been remarkably consistent, and physically, the scene raised as many questions as it answered. Adam had no visible injuries, scratches, or defensive wounds, and outside of the fatal chest wound, Sylvia reportedly showed little evidence of a prolonged violent struggle. A decorative spear mounted to a bed frame had somehow become unshathed, pierced Sylvia's chest with enough force to kill her, and no one could clearly explain how. Officers collected Adam's clothing, dressed him in a white forensic jumpsuit, and sat him down for a lengthy recorded interview aimed at determining whether Sylvia's death was a tragic accident, a reckless act, or something more deliberate. In this first section, we pick up as Adam walks investigators through the argument that began after they returned from the diplomat hotel. And yeah, and she said, "No, I'm not going to leave." And you know, you know, [ __ ] you and the belligerent. And I was like, "Look, I can't take it anymore." So, I grabbed her her ankles and and I started pulling. And I guess that's exactly what happened. And she I guess when she was going off the bed, she had grabbed this stick and and went down, cracked. And I didn't realize anything had happened until I was already like right where we were. I don't know if we were there, but it was right by the mirror. >> Okay. >> Right. Right in front of the bathroom. So right there is when I saw this was in her. And she didn't say anything. She didn't scream or anything. I just saw it in her. And when I took it out, I saw the damage. I saw the blood spill. >> So you took the knife out of her. >> I took cuz it was in >> the spear. >> The spear. The spear tip. It was in her. Yes. I I took it out and that's when it was spilling out and I freaked out and I told Morgan to call 911 and she did. That's what my recollection is. >> So you after you pulled it out is when you told Morgan to call 911. >> Yes. Well, when I realize the damage comes in, and once it happened, that's when I try to hold down the blood. I see that there's blood on the floor. I freak out. I I open the door to go tell Morgan, "Please, to call 911." She does. She comes into the room. I'm pressing. She starts the CPR. 911 is on the phone. She had left it right there by the um I have a little fake fireplace, so she had left it right there. And they talked him talked us through it while we were going through it the whole time. So we were, you know, I was breathing and she was pumping and I was breathing and I said I never done it before. I thought >> Do you guys ever argue about anything? >> Uh me and Morgan? >> No, you and Sylvia. >> Do we argue about >> about anything else other than maybe when she gets drunk and being belligerent? Have you guys argued about anything else lately >> for for this for today or just in >> the last few days? >> Yeah. Yeah. Plenty of that for any of that basic marriage stuff. I'm not doing a lot. I'm not talking. I'm not you know communicating or connecting. Um yeah, she's been she's been very very um forward with that. Um but she's also going through a lot of stuff with her mom, you know, um having family issues that she was going through. I think sometimes it it gets to her and so sometimes I think it's a misdirection of anger because you know she can't really scream on her mom's but she does scream on me. >> She does get bullish. So you know calls me a piece of [ __ ] you know >> I'm not this I'm not that good basics. >> Mhm. >> So I wouldn't say that there's one thing that we argue about aside from a disconnection. So that's what >> How long have you two been together? >> About two years. A little more. Yeah. >> A little more than two years. >> Yeah. >> Have the police ever been to your place before? >> There was a time that um because she's a nose bleeder. She bleeds a lot from her nose um that we had argued and she had ran out and there was blood on her nose and so the security thought it was a physical act and then then it was then Yes. and I was arrested for some domestic violence. Um, but those cases were dropped because none of that was really true. And um, yeah, and that was it. >> At this point, the detective shifts gears entirely, zeroing in on the mechanics of Sylvia's death. >> So, she must be on. >> Well, well, my question was the sheath on the blade that's always on. >> Oh, the sheath is always on. It's always on. That's why I never would have thought something bad would have happened if I knew something would happen. But it's always on and it's got a little tie on it, a little leather tie on it. It's never come off, but then again, no one's ever broke it. Um, yeah. I don't I mean, it has to come off. When you turned and looked >> very >> and saw her on the ground with the blade. >> She on the ground. >> She was on her >> She was on her back. >> On her back. >> Right. Sorry if I seem a little stressed out. >> Oh, >> it's quite understandable. >> After a short break in the interview, the detective returns with a different energy. He begins openly challenging Adam's account. What started as an interview was quickly becoming something else entirely. A direct test of Adam Cresbow's credibility. >> That's what you supposed to know. >> So these are missing >> when it broke. >> This is the one that broke. So are you showing me? >> Yeah. I'm just showing you what this is after. So you're telling us from here to here is 2 ft. So from here to here is sticking out. Mhm. >> So as she's falling off, anything could have happened. She could have I don't know, maybe tipped over and went in. Uh maybe she thrusted herself in. >> Here's the uh the door for the bathroom. >> Here's where here's where your dog is. This is the sheet that that was taken off. I rescued, like you said. And this is exactly where this area was. >> And that's all her blood. That's all. >> That's all her blood. >> I know, right? >> I know. I tried to get the pack to stop the bleeding. >> You have one of those. That's yours? >> Yeah. Yeah, I do. Cuz I I I have in the bathroom. I have a med kit. So, I try to stop. >> So, you have a blue med kit? Like a is it about this big? >> No, it's just a med kit that I >> That's That's something that we use. That's like a military >> military stuff completely. Yes, absolutely. >> So that was you? >> Yes. >> Do you think I'm a pretty reasonable person? >> I'm sorry. >> I think I'm a pretty reasonable person. Like I, you know, I'm not one of these guys that flung off the handle and try to think everything through. >> Okay. >> I would say so. >> I'm having a very difficult time believing what you're saying. I understand. That's what you're supposed to do. >> Well, no. Like I just said, I'm a reasonable person. Okay. >> I Well, no. I mean, >> so you think what do you what do you suggest? What you're saying here is about four four feet plus of the other foot. >> So, you think I broke it, turned around, and did all that to it? >> I don't know. >> That's horrible, man. >> That is horrible. >> That is horrible. >> That's absolutely horrible. Especially with someone like this >> that you've never even asked how she's doing. I >> I'm so scared to know, man. I'm so scared to know. >> We've been here. >> I'm so scared to know. >> It's been over. >> Is she all right? >> It's a little late to ask me now. >> No, I still just cracked me. So, is she all right? >> No, she's not. No, she's passed away. So you guys called rescue at 1:56. Okay. They took her to the hospital after 2. You were with you were with officers. Let's let's say from 2:30, right? And it's already after 12 now, right? >> I can't believe this. So, we're going on 10 hours or about 10 hours kind of maybe say uh n and a half. >> You have never asked how she's doing >> cuz I've been praying my ass off, man. I'm scared to even know. But that has nothing to do with anything because she's already been threatening with being trying to kill herself. Trying to deal with that has been a longterm thing. >> You're saying you have this on your phone, right? >> Yeah, I have this on my phone. >> Are you willing to give us the password to your phone so that we can do this? >> I have a lawyer. But if I do, my lawyer. Yeah, I will absolutely show it to you, man. Well, >> we'll do a search for it on your phone. Oh, >> no. You don't need it. Well, >> the password would make it faster. not a lawyer cuz this now you're trying to say I murdered her. >> I'm not saying you murdered her. >> Thank God. >> Okay. >> Thank God because she was acting this way and this is by accident. >> Accidents do happen. And I'm not saying that they don't. Okay. But the way that you're saying how things happen is is a little hard to digest. >> I was there and it's hard for me to digest what happened. I don't know how it got in her. I don't know how it broke. All I can either suspect that it was actually a mistake or she actually put it in her >> which she's capable of. >> So other those well the only theories I have but all I know is what I do know is I wanted her out of the room because she was harassing me for months and all I've been doing and I even had to put the door jams to stop her. She's been bickering bickering coming in and I was sleeping. I wasn't even bothering her. This is what happens when she's drunk. >> What were you bickering about? >> What? >> What was she bickering about? >> She gets angry. She's an angry person. So, she is very angry. She's going through something with her family. She's going through something with her family and it's really bothering her and in her psyche. Her dad killed himself. She was very close to this type of thing. um bickering about not being heard or felt. I mean, just talking, you know, trying to connect and she turned violent a lot and it would make me back off, you know, and that backing off made more distance and so we should pick her about that. And so then she would throw inuendos that she's going to kill herself and then, >> you know, blame me and then that's backs me off too. So yeah, >> it's horrible. >> Can can can you kind of look at it from our standpoint for a second? >> I'm sorry. What? I'm asking you to kind of asking you to do something difficult right now. >> Sorry. >> I'm asking you to do something a little difficult right now. Think about >> think about this from somebody outside of your point of view. Okay. Uh again, I'm reasonable. Accidents happen. things that are not meant to happen but end up happening. And that's what this sounds like to us, right? >> It could be from multiple ways, but you know, we're we're missing we feel like we're missing some obviously important parts here because you're saying that you turn, right? But I turned my back trying to get >> and then within that short period of time >> broke. I heard a snap. >> Right. >> I don't know. >> And somehow this long object >> was in her >> turned around and entered her. or in the momentum. I mean, it has to go this way because that's >> and then at a very >> like almost 180° angle, 180° uh change of direction, right? >> Put it in her. Maybe she put it in her. Maybe she tipped over and it came from a direction. I don't know. Okay, Adam. >> I'm so drained in motion on this woman. >> The blade is a good 4T up in the air away from her. >> I know you could say that over and over, but >> that's what I'm saying. Because what you're saying, if your hands are here, >> right? >> They would had to come all the way up here based on how how you're doing things. I mean, if you rent shirt, you can see if she's falling down, it could very well go in the moment. Not at that. Not holding it low like that. >> If she But if she's holding on to it, she could totally go in. Or maybe she fell this to the side and it went in that way. Maybe she did literally thrust it in cuz she's been trying to kill herself. >> You would have to grab near the top. >> So, because remember the blade is up here. But if it >> So if you grab down here, you have to reach all the way out here to do that. No. Right. That doesn't sound logical. >> All I know is I wasn't looking. And I know she could have [ __ ] done it to herself. She could have fell sideways. It could have fell from a from a cracked fell from a distance in as she's falling off. >> Could have been your actions when you were pulling her off the bedaus body. >> Is that fair? that >> if I pulled her off the bed and it cracked. That's exactly what happened. >> I pulled her off the bed and it cracked >> and it entered her body >> and it entered her body and I didn't see how it entered or in what way. >> All I know is when I saw it, I you know tried to help. I tried to resuscitate her. I tried to stop her bleeding. All I wanted her was to get out of my [ __ ] room. She was not listening. This is not worth it, man. Oh, man. She [ __ ] do it. >> Based off of what I know. Okay. This blade went through her sternum. >> I'm sorry. >> Went through her sternum. This blade went through her sternum. Do you know how much force must have been used for that to happen? >> She's falling, thrusting. It's the same thing. >> Falling, fell off the bed, thrusters herself. Thrusters herself. There's no reason for me to do anything. I'm trying to get out of the room. There's no reason. >> Mhm. Okay. Give me a couple minutes. Do you want to look at this anymore? I have to look at it. Following the interview, Adam Cresbow was arrested and charged with seconddegree murder. He was granted a $65,000 bond. And 2 days later, after posting bond and being fitted with a GPS monitor, he was released pending trial. As the case slowly moved through the court system, Adam remained free for years, awaiting trial. In July 2025, nearly 6 years after Sylvia Gavo Dugas's death, opening arguments were finally heard in the case of Florida versus Adam Crespbow. Throughout the trial, prosecutors argued that Adam Crespbow's actions demonstrated what Florida law calls a depraved mind. Conduct so dangerous and reckless that it showed a disregard for human life. The state maintains Sylvia's fatal chest wound was not the result of a freak accident, but instead occurred during a violent confrontation inside the bedroom, meeting the legal threshold for seconddegree murder. The defense presented a very different version of events. They argued Sylvia's death was a tragic accident that unfolded during a chaotic alcohol-fueled struggle, not an intentional killing. Ultimately, much of the case centered on expert testimony. Jurors heard from multiple specialists who analyzed whether the physical evidence aligned with Cresbow's version of what happened inside the bedroom. Crime scene reconstruction expert Thomas Hill testified that he attempted six different reenactments of the incident and was unable to fully replicate the injury scenario described by Adam Cresbow. Hill also testified that based on his analysis, the blade appeared to be moving away from Sylvia at the moment it broke. >> So, what direction based on your experience for 30 years in crime scene reconstruction, can you tell that this spear broke in what direction? Well, it would have all been going this way. >> However, when pressed further, Hill made a statement about the reenactment testing that surprised both sides. >> It didn't prove or disprove anything really. What uh what is helpful is his own words. >> Medical examiner Dr. Benjamin Matthysse testified that Sylvia's death was no accident. It was a definite homicide. It has to be thrust by some another person or an object or something, but there's has to be a force behind it that is pushing. >> Dr. John Maruchini was the only witness called by the defense. He testified that while the wound was severe and fatal, the available evidence did not definitively rule out the possibility that the injury occurred during a physical struggle rather than an intentional stabbing. Dr. John Maracini, a forensic pathologist and former medical examiner, told the jury by his calculations, nothing is certain. >> The manner of death in this particular case is best left undetermined. An accident is a possibility. Also, >> during cross-examination, prosecutor Jacquellyn Brody challenged Dr. Marchini's conclusions, including his description of the impalement scenario. the way that you're holding it. Is it the way that Adam Creswell told police she held it? Because he didn't tell police she held it up up upside down with her wrist. >> With all the testimony heard and evidence presented, it was left to the jury to decide Adam Cresbow's fate. It took only 90 minutes of deliberation to return a verdict. The jury agreed with the state's theory that Adam Cresbow acted with the depraved mind necessary for secondderee murder.
