In an appeal to the public for assistance, police released security camera images on December 10th of a man they wanted to question in connection with the investigation. Later that evening, police received a phone call from a man who declared, "I'm the guy in the photo." He was invited to the 51 Division headquarters for a meeting with detectives. The caller, accompanied by a lawyer and his parents, declined to provide a statement and was described by detectives as uncooperative.
