your eye a vehicle blows past a red light barreling towards you at twice the speed limit in an instant Everything Changes this anecdote is about the terrifying unpredictable reality that can strike any of us on the road and it's precisely what multiple drivers faced on a humid August day in 2024 in Miami Florida let's Dive In young formerly educated and with a bright future ahead 24-year-old Macy lathers appeared to have everything going for her she graduated with honors from Sunni Albany in 2021 earning a degree in Business Administration while still in school she landed an internship at RS Square Media a company focused on online reputation management helping clients who felt wronged or attacked on the internet Macy seemed to be on track to live her best life but career Ambitions weren't the only thing Macy had her sight set on two years ago she left her New York Roots behind and moved to Florida where she shifted Focus to building her personal brand as a rising social media influencer on Instagram she had nearly 13,000 followers and her posts were just as bold as her captions such as Seeing Double Making triple or I do more than just sit and look pretty her feed was packed with provocative photos blurring the line between art and modeling with hashtags like book me making it clear she was ready for business between small gigs such as working as a ring girl at bare knuckle bouts Macy frequently shared videos of herself posing including next to her gleaming white luxury car further polishing the Glamorous image she projected online but that carefully crafted Vision Came Crashing Down on August 10th 2024 Macy landed a major booking off all right but it wasn't the one she'd been chasing in a highly Reckless decision she got behind the wheel of her 2018 Mercedes CLA 250 licensed suspended and high on party drugs she tore southbound down North Miami Drive in downtown Miami at the same time a male in his early 20s driving a black Range Rover was heading west on North 8th Street with a silver Suzuki SUV carrying three passengers coming from the East despite a steady red traffic light Macy didn't let up up the vehicle's electronic data recorder would later reveal she was flying through at 57 mph in a 30 mph Zone the gas pedal fully depressed by the time she barreled into the intersection she had reached 78 mph she slammed into the Range Rover sending it coring into the Suzuki SUV right after the Collision Macy was captured on surveillance footage trying to flee the scene a group of pedestrians eventually stopped her from getting away bodyw warn camera footage from the city of Miami Police Department captured the chaotic aftermath mangled cars shattered glass and a scene that was nothing short of a nightmare you let him know Daddy we got video we got video first vle vehicle color 250 Mercedes I don't know if the husband was in the back seat or the husband was the driver the driver went in a resc those were the two injured in this car was front seat driver and the passenger behind him she was also the Ben yeah r at 6 something theity has video on his pH but to get the actual need and and can they tell us where the I saw yeah we saw the one I I saw it from the phone the the Ben runs okay the driver is the driver you don't see get out cuz all you see is the explosion and I I can't make out do we have anybody that can black shirt went walked out rescue she didn't even tap on The Brak the female that was on the ground over there that they administered n did she go in a truck that part I don't know I call a black female let me out a she'd be in the Box just cheing out wa you're taking the 22 still there so right there right there where's your car your car who's going to pull who I need one of you two to pull I break anything else the driver of the Range Rover was treated for minor injuries and later released but the occupants of the Suzuki were far less fortunate Jesus Rubio a backseat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene the driver Abraham Molina had to be extracted from the wreck agent was rushed to the hospital in critical condition tragically he died from his injuries leaving behind a 16-year-old son the only Survivor Molina's fiance Wanita Hernandez sustained lacerations on a GoFundMe page Hernandez later shared that they'd all been on their way to work when the crash happened while some officers worked to secure the accident scene others located and detained Macy further down the road 4 i1 for show me at we're going to need more units for I mean me at it's going to be 4514 number you don't have extra you don't care about them or Macy was treated at a hospital for minor injuries she was then booked and pled not guilty to charges including vehicular homicide reckless driving driving on a suspended license and fleeing the scene she was placed under house arrest awaiting toxicology results when those results came back positive prosecutors leveled new charges DUI manslaughter for the deaths of Molina and Rubio Macy was then sent back to jail with her bail set at $140,000 meanwhile back at the scene a startled but relieved motorist recounted his close call to police at the intersection there were some people in the corner right over here so me and this guy just stay for a couple SEC for Le at least a second or two when the green light came on and and when the car literally 50 60 70 plus just and me and him just looked at each other like oh you what the just made us stay back your intuition y like but him too you know what I'm saying like especially the scooter he was on a scooter without a helmet yeah he would have been cook yeah he would have been without a helmet and he looked at me like saying like we just looked at each other like holy man and she like I said she wasn't going she wasn't going 50 man yeah flying she was she was going cuz within my car I can actually hear her car you know like she was going fast and literally from 9th to uh from 10th to hear eight yeah it was two two seconds more I'm like holy Leo Leo you got to go Leo just keep on Leo just keep on you know and I had to I had to leave man no no worries no worries no worries but I was cuz I live here you know and I manag I'm like you know let me just ask you sir where you going okay if somebody saw something you know if somebody didn't see something obviously I saw CU she almost hit me apprciate apprciate the information yeah we was also able to you want to know something I probably I can have it on camera your car no where cuz I have a camera have a camera facing no mind me so when when I get out of park place I have a camera that has 10 Street that you can actually see my car in the corner with the red light and how she flew through I I got that that at Macy's pre-trial hearing in September 2024 the judge wasn't taking any chances with her history and the charges laid out DUI manslaughter reckless driving the court saw her as a genuine public safety risk prosecutors painted a grim picture she'd plowed through a red light while allegedly high on pink cocaine and they argued this wasn't a one-time lapse in judgment despite her defense team's push for bail the severity of these charges carrying up to 30 years led the judge to keep her in custody Macy's next court appearance is scheduled for October 22nd 2024 she will remain in custody until her trial which is tentatively set for November for most of us driving is a routine something we do without a second thought but one person's Reckless decision can forever alter that routine Macy LA's terrible judgment speeding through a red light while impaired transformed a regular day into the Ultimate Nightmare for innocent people Jesus Rubio and Abraham Molina lost their lives while
