charges of intimidating a witness and aiding a criminal the incidents began after Luhan allegedly helped former Espanola City councilor Philip shacken escape from police after a high-speed chase on the 26th of March 2020 Espanola police officers arrived at Choco's home to arrest him while the officers were outside shotgun's house talking about him being armed Sheriff Lujan suddenly arrived on the scene according to the police he smelled distinctly of alcohol the sheriff used his authority to put pressure on the police and told her to take her man and leave that he would make the arrest sometime after Luhan got on the phone Chacon surrendered this incident raised suspicions about him yeah yes they'll check one that's who you have a warrant for right pull everybody out huh I don't want to pull them back excuse me I'm not asking I'm calling you I will bring him in okay we don't need to make this bigger hey uh the sheriff distributed and he's he's asking us to pull back and he'll definitely smelled it really good so did I so what how can he he can't be here the police were executing a search warrant for the phone of a man named Ramon vigil possibly linked to Chacon at this point Ramon spoke to someone on the phone about the warrant of course it was Sheriff Lujan himself the sheriff soon arrived on the scene the cops found a connection between Ramon's phone and the sheriffs and this time they executed a search warrant for Sheriff lujan's phone but things were not going to be as easy as they thought actually hey under Sheriff how are you good good is James here the sheriff well third sure let's have a couple of six months your personal cell phone and learn on your uh do you want [Music] to filed today you have your phone cassava's is not is this for which case what case is this so that is in reference to stemming from the original charges which one the misdemeanor so that one we got a search warrant on a misdemeanor somewhere yeah [Applause] [Applause] case number doesn't have a madridor district case this isn't this case is already in District Court this is a match do you understand that this case this case is in District Court yeah what do you see tonight luhan's attempts to make things difficult from the very beginning were of course very interesting for someone who was involved in the job because he was dealing with criminals himself and he had to make things easier for the cops unless he is innocent the policemen who were sensitive in their behavior towards Luhan because of his rank were losing patience chief of the Espanola police who arrived on the scene would not be as sensitive he's trying to make contact so you're going to comply or not sure so he has the warrants they're signed their legal court order I know I know you guys are I don't want you guys in the middle I got them I don't know you have your phone his phone yes okay can I see him at least so I could give you that professional courtesy so I don't understand whether legal order why he's fighting if you have them that's all we want yeah but he has the court orders so uh you know our attorney called his attorney so she told him exactly what well maybe that's why he's not answering I also I think it's called Tomas Campos you know I don't want to take you there I didn't want to go this far just want the phones I'd say would be out of your hair I think you can have you guys leave them nothing just happened well I'm not the one making the show I had only sent these guys in here you know I just again we want the phone that doesn't run you're probably gonna get the phone but wait until as you know undersheriff it's not probably there's a court order you know I don't want to I really don't I don't want to have to put any because I don't but if if that's what I have to do then I will do it I don't want to do that Jim oh because he's the one not complying with the court order a few have the phones in we don't need to be having this why I'm saying right I tried to be you know as low-key as possible soon after a while Luhan came out of his room and tried to make things even more complicated at one point he even tried to escape but failed at one point Luhan accused the chief of the Espanola police of being angry with him and said that this was Revenge you could go through the court system we are we're gonna lock down this building until he gives me those you want her number okay he's going out [Applause] you're not going to stop me from leaving if I want to leave am I under arrest if we have to am I under arrest not time bringing with them the heavy artillery the SWAT team in case the situation worsened the police sealed off the building and eventually handcuffed Luhan by the way it was his own team who handcuffed Luhan they decided to take Luhan inside to hide him from the Press but this was a big mistake stay out here oh man I appreciate that SWAT man Lujan was only under observation at first but the fact that he didn't help anything and tried to make things difficult earned him a cozy place in the back seat of the police car okay so I'm going to read this stipulation can you take these handcuffs off the Earth they hurt am I under arrest oh yeah why do I have to have cups on they hurt pick them up this won't take long you have a search warrant for my iPhone you got my phone you want to search one for the building you're searching the building I don't know what you're searching for though I'll tell you okay let me explain this let me explain so on this this is signed by district court judge judge Bowman yeah or judicial okay so this search warrant gives me the authorization to seize your phone okay search your phone okay but it also gives me the authorization so what what I'm asking for you to do is unlock your phone unlock it give it back to me and I'm going to remove the security settings I don't want your passcode I'm not asking for your passcode I'm asking you to unlock the phone for the search warrant you can read it if you want under number two I will if I get attention left in my attorney it doesn't work like that this is not a this is not a pronunciation but was sentenced to three years in prison for intimidating a witness and assisting an offender this incident showed us that not only Luhan but perhaps the entire police department could be corrupt so
