Cuz if there's a lot of blood, give us 10 minutes. I I killed them. But, however, I found their bodies and their wounds were healed. Hello, we're Otero County Sheriff's Office. Anybody inside, come out with your hands up, open and empty. Wait, did you you put him in the ravine? He brought consciousness. You need to take a picture. On October 13th, 2024, a landlord into Harris, New Mexico called 911 after hearing gunshots from the house next door. The family inside was not answering. That was the story for about 30 seconds. Okay, so I live at 51 Young Road and the property adjacent to me I also own, but I rent to a nice family that um has been living there for some years. Um they come and help me with the chores around the ranch here and none of those were done today. All four cars were are in the driveway. We heard like several gunshots about an hour and a half ago. And probably we heard was kind of like a dog crying. Anyway, we heard about five or six gunshots and then about 10 minutes later a single gunshot. And I just went over there and just honked the horn multiple times. It's odd that the father who does the chores over at my property next door hasn't been over to do any of them today. And all four cars are there, so I'm we're getting a little bit worried. And I've called and texted each one of the family members. There are three adults. The father, the mother, and a son. And no one has responded to me, which is also odd. >> When deputies arrived, they did not find a barricaded suspect. Both of them are rushing. Where's your weapon? My room. Okay. Where [music] is my weapon? Come out here real quick, man. Yes, sir. They They a 24-year-old man standing at the front door. His name was Adlai Mestre, and the first thing he told them was my family rushed me. You got Just going to tell me what's going on, okay? So, I My family tried walking in my room, and they were trying to hit my heart, and my dad had a knife, and my sister had a sledgehammer, and I And then You what? I I killed them. But, however, I found their bodies, and their wounds were healed. I'll Do you want me to show you? 125, so we need additional units code. It's crazy. I I don't know like I shot him I shot him in the head. And then what do you do with the bodies? Later, detectives would describe those statements as delusional. Two things deputies don't know yet, the gun he used is still in his pocket, and the bodies are not in the house. No, I'm I'm on the way. 10-4, there's possibly three individuals deceased in the house. I was going to kill my wife. 10-4. Do you have anyone 10-9? 10-4. Okay. I don't know what happened. 10-4, we have a 10-4, 125, 10-9, code 3, need to call it. You have blood on your hands. What's up with that? My dad rushed me. I hit him, [music] and then my mom was like, "You need to die." I was like I've been telling the officer, but I can't see my mom cuz she's 5150. I don't know what's going on. 10-4. Is that normal? Okay. 10-4. Hey, do you think we should secure this area? So, I I can show you where the bodies are. No, um just hold on. Just hold on. Okay, so Hey, hey, hold on. Let's We have to dis- We have to detain him in the car, okay? >> They're over there like All right. All right. Are Are they in the house? No, it's in the stairs. They're biting their arms, and then there was like hot boiling is ground. Is that normal? Um I can't I just kind of hang out for me for a minute, okay? We have to figure some stuff out. I don't know if they're trying to hurt my heart. I'm going to secure this in my car. >> Within 30 seconds, he tells them his dad had a knife, his sister had a hammer, that he shot them in the head, and that their wounds had healed. Sheriff's office, anyone inside, come on out with your hands up, open and empty. >> [music] >> I'm 194 show. We're making an announcement at the door. We think there's a lot of blood. Can you give us 10 minutes? Sheriff's office, anyone inside, come on out with your hands up, open and empty. If I locked it anyway in my back seat. Sheriff's office, anyone inside, come on out with your hands up, open and empty. Anyone inside at 55 yard. >> [music] >> He He He He was like they were this way, right? On this end of the house. Where you saw I was pointing this way, yeah, to like the east. I don't He kind of didn't say where they were, though. He said They're over there. I Adlai already told them the bodies were outside, but deputies cannot just take his word for it. There could be a second shooter. There could be a victim still alive. They still have to clear the house. Hey guys. How's the dog? The dog I think it's Okay. Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. Anybody inside, come out with your hands up, open and empty. Follow you guys. Moving up here you guys. The dogs in the kennel. Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. Anybody inside, make your presence known. >> [snorts] >> You guys take left I got right. Okay. Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. I'm going to take this first door. Hold on a sec. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. Are you guys all right? Yep. Okay. Now we're Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. BERNALILLO COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. Stepping out. All right. We'll move. You guys take the door to the left. I'll hold right. Okay. Moving up. Go. Stay. Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. Anybody inside? Stepping out. Stepping out. Might might be upstairs though. One guy get door to the right. I'll do the button. Okay. Okay. I got the door to the right. Clear. >> Clear. Clear. Stepping out. Let's move back. [music] Stepping out. >> Stepping out. Coming out to you. Is all of this cleared? No, this is my cleared area. Duran and Oscar, where you guys at? Over here. Okay. All right, we're moving up to you. Cool. Is all of this cleared, guys? Yeah. Let me check this out. Okay. SHERIFF'S OFFICE. SHERIFF'S OFFICE. IS ANYBODY INSIDE? CLEAR. Blue blue blue. What's that? Bleach? Sheriff's office. >> With you, Oscar. Shell casing. Two shell casings on the staircase, bleach in the kitchen, blood, but no body. During the sweep, one deputy sees the dogs in the kennel. He doesn't realize yet that one of them has been shot three times. You guys need to find anything? We got upstairs on the long side. No. said that's where the drowning was. They said the neighbor saw him in the backyard. Yeah, he was cleaning up back there. Looks like someone was dragged. Yep. Is there a way out of the backyard Yeah, they dragged this way and started cleaning up the lawn there. Where? Is somebody with him? Is anyone with this guy? No. Whose car is it? It's an Elantra's car. My mom. You want to go back with him since you guys were first on scene? Can you explain this? Let's have someone stay with the house. The neighbor isn't done talking. He tells deputies he saw Adlai in the backyard before they got there. He saw him cleaning. Now the scene is bigger than the house. Whatever happened inside this house didn't end inside this house. >> [music] >> I'll go back to my car. I'll talk to him to see if he just won't tell me where they're at. I'll lead you to you. Clear. You know what they're They're doing They're doing some extra sweeps, but there's drag marks along the ground there. I'm going to go back and talk to him. I'm not sure if he Okay, I can drive the truck. >> [music] >> See something? I just like the blood trail is primarily to the that side. There's some here, but I like I can't tell if it's paint or you know? Drag marks, plural. That is not random. Someone was dragged out of that house. Please don't kill me, officer. I'm not going to kill you, dude. I need to know where they're at. All right. Did you see that dog? I can show you. No. Okay, so no sir. Where was it? Are they inside the house or outside the house? They're in the backyard. So, I was going to bury them. They're So, there's a Subject saying they're in the backyard. Go with the trail and then you're going to want to take a right and there's going to be another gate. You're going to want to go down. I can lead you there. Do they have a specific location? Are they Are they underneath something? Go past the second gate once you exit on the right. It's going to be to the I believe it's south. >> So, they're past that second gate on the right, right? Past that second gate, you're going to follow the trail. It's It's like a divot. Oh, there's like a divot there? Okay. Yeah, their wounds are healed. He gives directions like he is helping with a hiking trail. Through the gate, right at the trail, past the second gate, down to the divot. The line about burying them news story written about this case. He says it like he is solving a problem he and the deputies had together. These are drag marks. Let's try and stay out of them. They're here. Yeah, let's try and stay out of them. Okay. Three deceased, one possible look like a juvenile. Should we tape it off? No. yard, dude. We'll just I'll hold here. You guys want to go see what Oscar needs. It's right here. Three bodies, face down in a ravine 50 yards behind the home. Raimundo Mestre, 46. Bertha Huerta Conde, 51. Their daughter, Brielle, 17. Six seized. I didn't touch them. No. But clearly they're Breil had been part of the Carry Tingley Hospital Foundation for more than 10 years. She did adaptive cycling. She played wheelchair basketball. She is not just a name in a case file. She is the third body in the ravine. Yeah. It looked like he might have stabbed him, too. There was a bloody knife in the door. >> it looks like he probably shot two of them and stabbed one of them. Golly. But they're all face down, so you can't see what kind of wounds they have, but they're definitely all 10-7. Like recently, too. Really? Definitely. In the last day. Within the last day? Maybe like There There's really not much like rigor mortis at all, so Cuz the call came out at like 1:00. Is that the 278? Yeah. Yeah, I think he I think it probably happened then cuz they still look pretty like fresh. Yeah. Hello. Oh, we're just out here at a homicide. Triple homicide. Two were shot. One was probably stabbed. There was a bloody knife inside the front door. No rigor mortis yet, which means hours, not days. Yeah, the one off of uh Juanita Maus and 217. Yeah. Um so essentially, deputies get called out here because neighbors hear seven to eight gunshots. Um they're starting to ATL, and then they come across a man who's like, "Hey, I shot my family." And they detain him. They find a 10-80 on him. We cleared the house. There's two casings on the uh going upstairs. That's secure. He led us to the back side of the property, and he said all three are there. And by led us is like he told the deputy that all three were back there. Uh we didn't Mirandize him. It was all more of a excited utterance. Well, we're not going to ask him any further questions unless you want us to Mirandize him, but we'll leave that to you guys. Excited utterance. In court, it means a statement made in the moment without prompting before the suspect was Mirandized. Adlai said almost everything that mattered before any detective showed up. Those statements are admissible. Whatever he says inside the interview room next becomes secondary. Yeah, [snorts] three of them. Um, it looks like two of them he shot and one of them he shot and possibly stabbed. There's a knife at the entrance of the staircase. Um, that might have been used. There's blood throughout the house and I'm not sure if he also shot the dog as well. Well, it wasn't whimpering, but it was full blood also. Yeah, as soon as he came out he said something like, "Oh, yeah, they rushed me, so I hit them with a sledgehammer. And I They're in the back. They're dead. I killed them." I was telling Sarge, I don't think they've been dead for that long, maybe like a few hours, something like that. Yeah. Yeah, well, they heard the gunshots 30 minutes prior to our arrival. Or well, actually once we got here it was probably like about an hour. It took 30 minutes to get here. 30 minutes from when the call came in. So, probably an hour that the shots went off. So, you already moved them and But, he moved them and he was already mopping. Yeah. Um, can we get them written statements? While the homicide team works the scene, the witnesses next door are helping tighten the timeline. Everything in this case happened fast. He talked to you? I talked to him. Uh, who is Is it just you and him? Yeah, just the two of us. Yeah. Okay. Um, I will Can I have you guys do this first? >> Okay. So, it's just a It's just a statement. You would like to do it? The witnesses are asked to write down everything they heard. The officers walk the scene one more time. It's your name, it's all your information here at the top. I, your name. I'll fill in the deputy part and then just what occurred today. I know you guys didn't really see or hear much, but just everything you heard. I'll give you two of those. Okay. And then uh I will give you guys an update here in about 30 30 minutes. Whenever you guys are done with that, I'll come and give you guys an update, okay? >> Okay. All right. Okay. As descriptive as you possibly can be. Okay. There's not much to tell, but I'll tell you >> what tried to She was on the phone, so we tried to figure out what time we heard the gunshots and stuff, so I mean our dispatch will have that. Just any small detail that you guys didn't tell dispatch. >> Uh thanks, guys. Thank you so much. That's the They not see I wonder if I guess maybe they just didn't look in the backyard. Like they were just like, "What the heck was that?" That's what I was thinking. Thank god they didn't go over there, dude. I know. He came out saying, what did he say exactly? Something like He got rushed. He killed them. Um He said, "But their wounds have healed and they're like What did he say? Like their wounds are black now or and then but they've healed or You know, he just Just rambled like rambling. All right. But yeah, he had his the 1080 in his pocket. And then he said he used it on them. Is it a .22? Uh it looks It's a Glock of some type. I don't know. Yeah, it's locked in my cage. Okay. I don't see it. Maybe it was nine casings. I don't Yeah. I wouldn't be able to tell the females cuz they're easy to Yeah. They estimate her age at 12. She was 17. From a distance, face down in a ravine, 12 is the only number they can get. Little girl. Maybe 12. Yeah. I wish I didn't. It's kind of tough. There's there's some some Negative on the one green patient and negative on the BH. Mhm. Yeah, I was like really just wanting to let go. In the house? But it was smart to just hold. A house is terrible to clear. And crawl spaces, hallways, through every corner, through and throughs, second levels. Exactly. It just sucks that not that at any point would we have been able to save anybody cuz we would have to be here when it's happening maybe to stand a chance, but it just sucks. I'm I'm assuming they're only all three of these cuz they weren't in this one. They kept then they walked that way, didn't they? Or is that another house separate or I'm just saying I I just can't believe how long the call waiting for they showed up cuz I'm If he did this, I would stop there. That's what I mean. He had that time to like think it over. You know, like the initial like surge and then you have people like 431 themselves and they shoot. You ever seen someone like shoot up in their house, they amp themselves up and then they shoot. Yep. So, I think that's what it was and that he had time. Like these guys I think they've been deceased for a little bit. He had time to move the bodies. Even if with the adrenaline That's a long drive. I I think it was I think it was no longer than an hour. Cuz they the 20 they heard the 27 eights and they called us. Yeah, that's what they said. They heard like or police said like on the cat like they heard they just heard the 27 eights. There wasn't much of a time delay. Yeah, but he said it was like 45 minutes and then you got to think their time to get here. Hour and a half, 2 hours maybe. But like right when you call That's when you they're hearing the gunshots. Then you have to move the bodies. And this is What, like a football field? Yeah, at least. And you you can't do two at once. No. You have to go back one and then you start you find the bleach and then start mopping. This is there I think there was Oh yeah, he said he's going to bury them all. Like we wouldn't like nobody's going to find out and just going to burn It's like here. I've seen it before. Yeah, but they have neighbors and stuff like that. Like it's not remote enough where I think I don't know. There's one Yes, sir. When you get into the other seat, you then got to search you one more time. You're good. Yes, sir. >> Did you see their corpses? They're foaming out the mouth. Are they still decomposing back there? Can you find the bodies? Yeah, we found them. Their their their wounds healed though. Is that normal? That's not normal. They're like black out the mouth. Did y'all take a picture? And did you Did you see that grabbing his dog? All right, dude. This guy's going to take some photographs from you, all right? All right. All right. Is it mine? It's Dr. Watts. And what's your name? I'm Ladainian Washa. Ladainian? Ladainian, I'm going to have you with your back facing these double doors, facing me, okay? You can keep a hold on him. I'm going to get you with the camera. I'll take a couple pictures of you, okay? Come on, man. Just sit. You're going to stand on those yellow tiles right there. At one point. Who's uh Do you know how come she didn't Is it Is it mine? I'm going to stop right here and let me check it. >> Is that Andrew, sir? Over one infections? Thanks, sir. I don't know but I want a pair of those. Jackets? Yeah, I don't know. I mean, not for myself, obviously. For her. For her. Good. Can you ask him to take one more faster on the way out? Yeah. Is that it? Yeah. He's We just literally took all his clothes from him. There's no He has underwear on. Okay. That's what he said. Okay. He has no injuries, none. He told deputies his family rushed him with a knife and a hammer. Three bodies in a ravine and not a single mark on him. The story he told of the front door is already broken. The interview hasn't even started. Is that right, detective? That is right. Thank you. Hello. Come in. Like I said, my name's Cameron. I'm with the sheriff's office. >> [music] >> I'm one of the detectives that's out here. Just going to come talk to you about what happened today, okay? Um but before we go any further, I just want to make sure I have your information correct. How do you say your name? Adlai Mistry. Adlai? That is right. Adlai? Okay, and how do you spell it? A D [music] L A I. And then David and then Mistry. How do you spell your last name? M I S T R I. R I? >> [music] >> R I. Okay. The detective starts with the basics. Name, address, how long he has lived there. Adlai answers all of them clean. Then the detective asks, "What happened today?" How long have you lived there? 2 3 years? Okay. And who lives there with you? Your family? Okay. Are you originally from here? Yeah, born and raised? Okay. Um so, obviously it seems like a lot went on today. Um so, you know, I would like to ask you a few questions about what went down. So, um first off, uh is English Around around 9:00 p.m. or like they saw there's like seismic wave. So, I was just aiming at cell towers, top of Big Ben, top Seattle. And then, you know, I was hearing a lot of seismic waves and a lot of women were were hurt. So, then I helped a woman pull coins out [music] of her. And then he pulled uh aimed at submarine. The next thing you know, sub the seismic wave would have stopped cuz they're only down for only 34 seconds. >> [music] >> The next thing you know, those seismic wave wouldn't stop. My family starts convulsing. [music] And then 9:30 convulsing just lose [music] consciousness especially. And then around like 9:30 10:00 my sister showed up. I lost [music] hope. I talked about everything. Take a breath. The answer he gets back is about seismic waves, cell towers, and women he helped pull coins out of. The interview is 2 minutes old. >> The reason I made a catastrophe That sounds like it. So, then how many died? What's that? How many died? >> [music] >> How many died? Uh I don't know. I haven't been out there. There's Can you write down Sure. The yeah. Can I write something down? Okay. The detective gives him a tablet. He lets him write. He doesn't push back, doesn't argue, doesn't react. The detective lets him write. He does not argue with the delusion. He keeps the interview moving. The detective is doing two jobs at once, interview and case preservation. waves >> [music] >> 8:30 Well, 8:30. Just won't stop. And And you got cell towers cell towers, big bangs, >> [music] >> what's in big bangs? Sure. space needles >> [music] >> Okay, good. >> [music] >> Hey, where's the eraser? You So, this is it's not like a a notepad, you just you just rub that over the top. And then it'll disappear. It's like a pen. So, I have any of cell towers, you got big bangs, space needles and you got telecommunication >> [music] >> telecommunication [music] something Next thing you know, the back room. night club night club room 30 or something >> [music] >> Yeah, you just rub it over the top of what I'm erasing. >> for evidence Well, before that, what it was before that What it was before that, you can just And then you just stop and then [music] it'll disappear. It's just like a tablet. >> person in there I'm stupid. Keep showing up for that. I don't know what I'm doing. >> [music] [music] >> Should I should I put the gloves It's not erased. You know what? Diggle down for like 3 or 4 seconds. This won't stop, right? [music] >> [music] >> And then they need drivers. Loses consciousness. >> [music] >> Body cams. And if you're ready, just let me know and I'll swipe that thing. It'll get you more room to write. >> I'm losing. >> [music] >> There's blood. Yeah, three bands facing you. So you got the top of top of big bands. Top. The detective slows down for Miranda. With Adli talking like this, the recording has to show he was read his rights and said he understood them. With Adli talking like this, a defense attorney could later try to get the interview thrown out. The detective is protecting the case. He just doesn't know yet whether this case will ever go to trial. Told you before. [music] First night. First night. >> night. Okay, so basically um Basically, what that means is every every American has these rights, okay? And as as an American. So I'm going to make sure you understand that, okay, before we go. Okay? >> [music] >> So they go as you have the right to remain silent. What does that mean to you? What's that? So you have the right to remain silent. So what does that mean to you? Well, [music] once today with the So what does that right you you you have the right to remain silent? That basically means that you don't have to talk. Okay? Do you understand that? Yes, sir. How was today with the major catastrophe? And I want to talk to you, but I just got to go through these with you before we >> know about them? I don't know. I haven't been out there. Did you hear about the side of the woods? I've I've heard of them, okay? I've heard a couple people talking. But let me get through these, okay? So, you have the right to remain silent. That means you you don't have to talk to me, okay? >> [music] >> Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you know what that means? Adlai, do you know what [music] that means? Mr. What does that mean to you? What anything we talk about today can be used in court. Do you know what that means? >> [music] >> Mr. Okay. You have the right to have an attorney with you before and during any and all questioning. [music] So, what that means is you can have an attorney before we talk. Do you understand? Adlai, do you understand? I I do understand. That's what but I want to make sure you understand. Mr. Do you understand? Do you understand? [music] Okay, you can have an attorney before we talk, okay? And at any time before questioning, we can have you can talk to an attorney. Do you understand? Yes. Okay? And if you can't afford to hire an attorney, if you don't have money for an attorney, one will be appointed by the state of New Mexico. So, you'll get an attorney. How about the whistle? Uh that's something you'll have to determine down the road, okay? But, you'll at least have someone at least an attorney appointed to you, whether or not you have money. Do you understand that? That's my right to represent myself. It that's down the road, but [music] that that is something you'll have to ask the judge. Okay? But, at some point you'll have an attorney appointed to represent you. Okay? >> [music] >> And then at any time, you can decide not to talk or answer any questions, okay? Do you understand? Okay. So, let's talk about I want to talk real quick bit your family. Um, who lives at that house with you? Your mom? What's your mom's name? Let me just make sure I have that information. Mom and then >> [music] >> Who else? Who's your sister? Ria? Ria? R I A R I [music] A L I Okay, Ria. And then your dad? Who's your dad? >> [music] >> David David David David David David David? David? Okay, yeah. >> [music] >> I just have to make sure I have some of this information and then I'll let you write it. Anyway, do you mind if you keep [music] those? Yeah, I'm not going to read them. No? They're they're going to be I'm not going to touch them. I just have to make sure I have the information that I need uh, >> [music] >> for my report. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Okay. So, I know you want to talk about all these ways and stuff and I want to [clears throat] hear about those, okay? But, I need to know um, do you have any firearms? What kind of firearms? Glock 19 A Glock 19? Uh, is that a 9 mil? Okay. >> [music] >> Did you have that today with you? Yeah. And was that the gun that you had on you when you saw the deputies for the first time? Yes, sir. Okay. >> [music] >> Now, tell me what happened inside the house with your mom and dad and sister. Well, you know what happened with my mom, dad, and sister. Pretty much we were dealing with those type of people. Captain, you know I tried to leave. You know I couldn't go. I was stuck. And then and then and then this person was killed. >> [music] >> Tragic. And wait, when you say you had to, what did you have to do? Kill. Okay, you had to kill them. Okay. >> [music] >> And we lost consciousness and I don't know what they did. I've been a rage for a long [music] time. I don't like half my life. Even by You have any hobbies? Driving souls. I have I have a shooting [music] dog. You have a shooting dog? I wouldn't be anything. I don't know what to do, please. Yeah. So, where was your dad when you had when all this was happening when you shot? I was in >> [music] >> Was he in his room or living room? I used to live in the room with my children >> [music] >> and you check it. Well, I'm just asking would you know? I'm 55 years old. I'm 55 years old. Yep, I've got it at the top. Uh where did you shoot your dad? I shot my dad in And in the living room? And did you shoot him where did you shoot him? Well, I first thought I just killed him and then >> [music] >> I don't know what happened. I don't know what happened to my dad. You killed Where did you shoot him in the head? Did you shoot him in the chest? I don't know. >> [music] >> What about your your mom? Where did you shoot your mom at? My mom was saying the same thing. I don't know if I killed her. I don't know. I don't know what my dad was saying the same thing. And then I don't know what they got possessed people possessed possessed. Sure. Um so you shot your mom. Was she upstairs or downstairs? >> [music] >> She was downstairs. She's my mom on the way. I don't know what happened to my mom. And then my sister same thing just got scared. I shot them all. She was enraged. Yeah. Enraged eyes. Killed me. And then how where did you shoot your sister? >> [music] >> I was doing time when I killed my my mom, my dad, and my younger sister. Who's younger? Younger? You you an older sister? Yes, I do. [music] Okay. Where did Did she not live with you? I wasn't there. So, around like So, around the time of the my older sister Do you want to see on the thumb line too? I'm [music] sure. Okay. You got to write this. He confirms the Glock 19. He admits killing his mother, his father, and his younger sister. Yeah, I'll I'll I'll give it to you. Heads up. Yep. All right. Yeah. There was a big giant hole in the wall. This is the hole in the bathroom that we need to repair. You may want to stop by Home Depot and get some plywood on your way. From there, the body cam ends, but the case does not. Adlai David Mestrez was first charged with three counts of open murder, five counts of tampering with evidence, extreme cruelty to animals, escape or attempted escape from custody, and criminal damage to property. Months later, in April 2025, a judge found him incompetent to stand trial and sent him for treatment. A grand jury later indicted him on three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of tampering with evidence, and one count of animal cruelty. Court records we reviewed still showed the case active on March 30, 2026 with motions still being argued and no final judgment entered. When deputies found Adlai, the handgun was still on him. The same gun investigators said was legally registered to his mother. He was right to call. He was just too late. Subscribe for more body cam breakdowns.
