of a motor vehicle crash on W. Jimmy
Leeds Drive near the on-ramp to White
Horse Pike Route 30. As they arrived on
scene, they observed that a white Ford
2005 pickup truck had crashed into a
wooded area after striking the curb and
narrowly missing a utility pole. They
made contact with the driver inside the
residence nearby and she was identified
as 19-year-old Emma.
It's the hydroplaning.
Okay.
Female has injury to her leg.
All right, um besides your leg, is
everything okay?
Yeah, everything's fine besides my leg.
It was just cuz it
It's for a leg injury.
It was just cuz it hit the like dash
part.
Okay, the dashboard?

My sister's 2 minutes away right now.

because it's bleeding. They're going to
come check you out.
Okay, sounds good.
Um
Do you have your documents inside the
car?
Documents?
Like your license, registration,
insurance card?
I don't have my license. It's at my
dad's.
Is the car registered in your name?
No, it's in my dad's name cuz my car got
recently totaled.
So I've been going to like my court
cases for my other accident.
Do you have your driver's license with
you?
No.
You don't have anything?
Mhm.
My sister's 2 minutes away.

because they were the scene of the
accident.

now?
I'm just coming from my dad's house. I
was going to go to my mom's house for
the night. She lives in
or Galloway.
Okay.
Yeah.
What
what happened?
I just like turned really narrowly and
I'll go check that out.
I was laying down and [ __ ] when I heard
Is it a loud like boom?
Yeah.
I thought it hit the house house.
Oh no, it wouldn't have been a
I think I'm
as I was pulling up I'm like oh man.
No, that's when I seen the walk. I'm
going to move that wheel.
But um
Yeah, I'm laying down this [ __ ] right
here loud ass you know loud ass bang.
This is like the first accident I heard
here. It's the first time an accident
happened here.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
So but when I look out my window this
[ __ ] looking too close.
I came out here to see who was hurt.
Back corner.
[ __ ] no hydro [ __ ] hydro plane.
You're doing good.
Shh, what did you say?
M informed the officers that she had
left her father's house after having an
argument with him because he had been
drinking. She stated that she was headed
to her mother's house.
She was asked if she had anything to
drink. While she initially denied
consuming alcohol, she later admitted to
having a few sips of vodka earlier that
evening.
Where were you Which way were you coming
from?
That way. I was turning from that way
and
So you were you were on Route 30,
correct?
Yes.
So you made the left and then did you
just kind of like keep going?
I just like I I just yeah, I just kept
going.
Okay.
And where were you coming from again?
I'm sorry.
White Horse Pike.
I know where like were you coming from a
friend's house? In Evesham Township?
home.
Okay.
Have you had anything
car.
I got you. You have anything to drink
tonight or anything like that? No,
nothing?
Is your light okay?
Yeah, it's okay. It just slammed into
the dashboard.
Okay.
Okay.
Do you have your driver's license on
you, ma'am?
I don't.
Okay.
I'm pretty sure it's at my mom's and my
mom
Do you have a valid driver's license?
Yes, I do.
Okay.
My sister will be in 2 minutes.
Okay.
Can I get your first name, ma'am?
Emma, E M M A.
Middle initial, Emma?
K.
Last name?
Margil, M A R
G I
E L.
Date of birth?
And what's your address?
What's a good phone number for you,
Emma?
Okay.
Um we have EMS just coming to check out
your leg cuz you do I got some pretty
good bleeding.
Yeah, so even if you don't have to go to
the hospital or anything, however,
they'll probably get you some, you know,
some bandages at least in the
I I That's understandable. Do you have a
jacket or anything in the truck that I
can get you for you?
I was rushing to my mom's cuz my dad was
drunk and he was like in an argument
with me.
Okay.
So he just told me to take his truck to
to my mom's house.
Okay.
Okay. Just hang out for me real quick,
okay? You're welcome.
Is this your sister right here?
Um where at?
Right here.
No, that's
it is.
Okay.
Sorry, I thought it was
No,
it's okay. It's okay.
Sorry.
You're fine. I just saw someone walking,
so I was like I'm assuming you knew I
know you said your sister was going to
be
Yeah, turn is always bad.
450
We can run this through.
Yeah.
Where was the bag at?
Oh yeah, it was in the car. Like driver
seat or something or passenger seat?
Okay.
I'm sorry.
You just shut your mouth.
I just got water and that's it and I was
about to go to mom's house.
I mean, I just I'm more nervous about
how I'm going to tell dad. That's what
I'm nervous about.
Emma?
Yeah.
You said you haven't been drinking
tonight.
No.
What's with the backpack over there?
Oh, it just has like drinks in it from
the other night.
And you haven't drank anything tonight?
Mhm.
Okay.
I'm going to run you through some tests
to make sure that you have in fact not
been drinking, okay?
Okay.
And is that okay?
Yeah.
I'm going to have them take a look at
you first.
I mean, I have.
You need to be honest then.
I have taken like sips of vodka tonight.
Okay.
Let them look at you first and then
we'll go from there, okay?
Okay.
Yes, it's just her.
So, why don't you why don't you go step
up in the ambulance real quick, get a
little warm and we'll go from there.
I'm going to mom's house.
Huh?
I'm going to have 105 come out.
Because he's well, he's three. 105 is
the flow.
So, I'm going to have him just come on
out.
140 105.
Come on over to our ambulance here.
Sorry.
That's fine.
Sorry.
What was that?
I'm sorry for her.
That's her on the phone there.
Is it
at all?
It's probably It's most likely stuck
just
So, she said she's coming from 30,
coming from her dad's house, makes a
left on the Jimmy Leeds, and then just
I think she just came in way too hot.
So,
she did admit to finally having a She
said she had a couple sips of vodka. I
don't know when.
I'm not getting any AOB from her. Her
eyes look fine, but I'm going to run her
through obviously.
It's self-inflicted heavy.
That's fast moving.
Oh, that's that's very fast moving. They
take that
piece out of this ground.
Jeez.
Justin, it's the [ __ ]
It's a pole? Yeah.
I saw that, too.
It's the first thing I noticed when I
came up. I was like, she is very lucky
she did not
I'm going to see if her sister has a
sweatshirt for her when she's done with
the interview. She's not wearing
Huh?
She said it was she she said it was in
Yeah, she said it was in there. She said
there was drinks and she's had a few
sips of the vodka.
Do you have a sweatshirt for her or
anything like that just to put on where
I can run her through some tests to make
sure she is not under the influence.
Thanks.
I'll go and go grab mine.
Yeah, I'm probably also going to grab
mine.
Did you want me to just hand it to her?
I mean, you can wear it for now if
until she gets out. And then
it's all right.
I'll I'll just hand it to her.
I got you.
Did it mess up like anything that's like
connected to my house or anything?
Nah. They just missed the electric pole.
The only thing that's damaged is the
concrete out there.
We're just double-checking.
We're going to have to
Let's see.
I'll get his number for you, here, so
Yeah, I'm just trying to think of how
cuz I was just going to have to get
towed out of here.
I don't want to Yeah, you see that I can
We're going to have to winch out that
way cuz you have a
water there, water there.
The tow truck's going to have to come
from out there.
I don't think they can
They think they could try to come from
here.
If they flatbed it, but I don't want to
[ __ ] up your That's your water.
It's It's somebody's thing.
That's soft. Well, yeah, but that's
And I hit this a couple times while I
wasn't in, too,
This is soft, man. I don't You put a
15,000 lb truck on here, it's that's
going to sink.
Oh, yeah.
They're good at their job, though, so
All right.
The [ __ ] airbags aren't going off.
All right.
Well, we'll be out here for a little
while.
This is all soft.
I'm just trying to think if they have to
tow it, like
That's what I'm trying to think. I don't
know if it's
his water's right there.
No, it's not that passenger side.
Like
over here.
It might snap the axle, too.
Cuz this tire's out a little bit.
Oh.
I don't know if it's
There's something.
Looks different.
Looks like it might be snapped.
We can call for a hub probably the one
to uh
Yeah.
Let them know, I mean
That's his water, so they ain't going to
be able to come up this way.
No, they're not going to drive it out.
They're going to have to try to get out
that way, but
They're not going to want that thing.
What was that? You got a gun?
Uh yeah, she has to go to mainland.
You got the 80 for your release?
Mhm. 145 dispatch.
Yeah.
Yeah, she told me about
Yeah.
Uh we're at
Go back and talk to Costa.
Okay.
So
Um
I just tell them what you have.
Yeah.
And go from there.
Okay. No, I'm sorry. Thank you.
I mean, you don't
You have a little bit of odor and stuff
like that, but or you don't have any
odor, so
I didn't have any.
Yeah. You're good.
I'll I'll talk to Costa and see what
Yeah. Issue a bunch of stuff.
Yeah.
And we'll sit with this.
That's uh you want us to call for a
105 something.
Just give dispatch numbers.
140 145
245
You can start a hook.
Do you need any help?
No.
Negative.
Uh I'm on
I'm on I'm on 145.
Yeah.
Just advise them we're probably 50 ft
off the road.
Um
I recommend probably a flatbed.
Let them know it's
right in between electrical wires.
Uh
It's not a concern, but it's going to be
hard to get out.
Who's the on-call?
I hope to tie away.
And the on-call told me to read on.
Great.
All right.
You all right?
I'm fine.
Uh you weren't in the car?
No, I'm I have my car and her sister. I
have my my boyfriend and my baby in the
car. She scared the [ __ ] out of me.
What's she going to call you guys?
She called us here.
I I told her all the time, you know, I
can't always save you. You got to do
what you got
She was flying.
I Oh, I know. I know.
To rip out?
Yeah, to rip out a chunk of curb? I I
know. I said the same thing.
Yeah.
I just right now she's also in a in a
court case with her license and we keep
telling her like you need to slow the
[ __ ] down, dude. You need to stop
driving like an [ __ ] You know,
you're going to lose your license, but
if that's what it takes to teach her
at the end of the day, you know what I
mean? There's no saving you.
I mean, they don't have any like
AOB as of now?
Yeah.
Stuff like that, but
she didn't get a lot of tickets.
I mean, yeah. At the end of the day
She claimed that she hydroplaned, but
Yeah.
It's dry where she was coming from.
No, yeah. I know.
We all know.
All right.
I told her I said, "Just be honest, you
know? It's all you can do."
She's going to mainland.
Yeah. I kind of figured so.
And that's going to take forever to get
out.
I I'm going to
Who's it Who's it registered to?
My dad. He's going to [ __ ] kill her.
Um
I'm probably just going to tell him.
We're towing it.
We're towing it.
Huh?
We're towing it cuz it's on someone's
property.
Oh, okay. Are you?
Yeah.
All right. Well, I don't know how much
that'll be.
I don't know. Usually insurance picks it
up, but you might have to pay up front,
but then the insurance usually
reimburses you.
Um
I just want it back at his house and I'm
going to have to go there and then I'll
work it
Cuz they're going to have to get it
released cuz it's an accident and since
it's on private property,
we don't You can't bring in private tow.
Like if it was an accident on the
highway and it's off the side of the
road, then yeah, you can use your own
private.
Yeah.
But since it's on
property
someone's property and it's you're
dealing with electrical wires, too.
I know. That's She better be thankful
she didn't hit the pole. That's all I
said. I said, "You You be thankful that
you didn't hit that pole, you didn't hit
this guy's house. Thank [ __ ] god.
But
she's in for it from everybody right
now.
Yeah, yep. All right.
So,
should I just wait here then for the
I'm going to give you the
once they dispatch the tow
Yeah.
I'll give you the tow form and then that
way your dad knows where to where to go.
Oh, okay. So, they'll take it to like an
actual
It's going to go right to the tow yard,
regional tow yard.
All righty then.
Um so, I'll give you that tow
information.
Okay.
All right, just give me a minute.
86 sub
Try her on through HGN first, see if you
get anything and then go from there.
Okay. Can you do tow slip stuff so
that.
So
Do it. That's fine.
Just give the tow give the tow
information to her.
Okay.
Um cuz it's her dad.
Yeah, he said have her if you get
anything off of that, then we'll go free
the consent blood draw or tow form.
He said you should be He said you
Since she appeared injured and she was
going to be transported to the hospital
an officer decided that he would only
perform the horizontal gaze nystagmus
HGN test. The HGN test yielded
indicators of impairment.
The officers also located a bag with a
notebook that appeared to belong to Emma
and the bag had alcohol inside.
Can't do it. I got set up sit down first
she's laying down.
Yeah.
Um
Can I get up there for a minute?
Oh, whacked my head.
All right. I'm just going to check your
eyes real quick, okay?
Okay.
Just keep your head straight for me.
Mhm.
See the tip of my pen?
Mhm.
All right, you're going to follow with
just your eyes.
Your phone.
Yeah.
I'm going to go straight up, okay?
Mhm.
Based on the motor vehicle crash and her
admission to consuming alcohol earlier,
Emma was placed under arrest. After she
was placed under arrest, her vehicle was
impounded for a 12-hour hold according
to John's Law. Emma was issued the
following citations: operating under the
influence, reckless driving, traffic on
marked lanes, open container, and
violation of restrictions on provisional
driver.
Okay. Very good.
EXCUSE ME.
OH, BOY.
DON'T HIT MY HEAD.
YEAH, I hit my head on
Okay.
You see that?
A little bit. It is.
It was bad.
Okay.
This is the
It wasn't It wasn't
Okay.
It wasn't bad.
Okay.
This is the front
Okay.
Okay.
No.
Okay.
Come on, I'll walk you over.
You're good. Yeah, we're good. He's
probably going to follow you over.
I figured.
140, the rig's going to take off if you
want to follow whatever.
Yeah. I mean
I mean
Well, wait for it. Well, she hit it.
Yeah, you can go. I'll chase you.
Thanks. Actually, yeah, I got
This This moves.
Oh, okay then. Oh, all right. Simple
enough.
This is just They'll be They'll be able
to pull this out of that way.
Um pa- driver side. I'll be better. It's
a little It's It's a lot messy, but
Yeah. I'll hold these.
The other side is the worst side of it.
Is Oh, well, the other side he had
already smashed this week.
Oh, no, that's That's all fresh and
Oh, okay.
Um
Oh my god, it's a mess He's going to
find the drugs.
Um
Her bag's on the other side.
Okay, I don't know.
The key has to stay in it.
There's a purse.
I think she has a book bag over here.
Oh.
She has a purse. I don't know if I'm
allowed to take the book bag or not.
That's fine.
I don't
see a book bag.
No, no, I think she put it over here.
Oh.
I know that that's where they found
those bottles or whatever the [ __ ] she
had in there.
Yeah, I'm not going to lie, her eyes are
pretty bad. So, when I tested her eyes,
her eyes are pretty bad.
I mean, at the end of the day, like I
said, you guys got to do what you got to
do. I mean
Yeah.
If she's in trouble, she's in trouble,
you know?
You got to learn something.
How old is she?
She's 19.
Oh, my god.
She just cannot get
Where did she have her bag at?
friends that she's had and
Where'd she have her bag at?
She probably put it out inside the car.
Did they recover it?
No, it's still here.
Ah.
So, she was just
Where's it at?
Oh, okay.
All right.
Appreciate you.
No problem.
Feels like something's in here.
I just don't want to touch
You want to grab that purse?
Yeah.
I'm going to search her bag.
Yeah, that's fine.
105, 140.
I recovered a bag that she hid in the
back of the property.
I'm going to search through it now. Do
you want to hook for a johnzo?
10-4.
Uh she's right by the truck. Just go
right right that way.
All right, thank you.
No problem.
There's no point in calling her at this
time.
He's just going to [ __ ] flip anyway.
Yeah,
he might.
Oh no, he is. Oh, trust me.
Where is she at?
They're taking her to the hospital.
To the hospital, okay.
All right, good. I'm I was making sure
you were still here. I got to check on
the baby. Hold on.
I can hear the alcohol.
I just can't find it.
There it is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Unfortunately, I've
have it in my family, too.
Hopefully.
What's her name?
Emma.
Okay.
Emma's journal and her computer in here.
I just can't believe she screamed at my
dad.
But it really messed him up that he was
like
My my dog, this is where he
this is where she landed at. This is
where he was
You know, it's it's crazy cuz my dad was
just, you know, he was just drinking a
couple nights ago.
And thought that it'd be a good idea to
drive through people's [ __ ] mailbox.
That's why his light is all smashed in
on the one side. And I was like, "What
were you thinking?" I said to him. Now
I'm sitting here at 2:30 in the morning
watching him drink and chat like, "What
the [ __ ] were you thinking?"
I just don't I don't get it. I don't
know why he parked
All right.
That's good.
Good?
Yeah.
Thank you so much.
Do I need anything else like
No, you're good.
to come to the police station for the
police report?
I'm 10-4.
Um so there's instructions on here.
Oh, I know this is for the car, but for
the um
For the accident report?
Yeah.
It's usually like 5 to 7 days they can
pick up a copy.
And do you know which police station
that would be at?
Ours Galloway. The address is on there.
Yeah.
Okay, cool. Thank you so much.
No problem.
Appreciate it. I'm so sorry, guys. No
problem. Um I'm so sorry.
She's going to be at the hospital, so
All right. Yeah, I'm just I'm going to
go to my dad's house and
They have a good phone number for you?
Yeah.
Cuz
depending on her status
Yeah.
Um she might have to be turned over to
somebody.
Okay.
Or they're just going to release her to
hospital staff.
Okay.
She was like, "I'm going to go to jail."
I said, "You should, though, honestly."
What's your name?
Kirsten.
Spell it.
Uh k i e r
s t i n
Last name?
Margel. m a r

All right.
Awesome. Thank you.
Thank you so much, guys.
I'll give you a shout in a little bit
and give you at least an update.
Yeah, yeah, let me know. I'll probably
be up. Thank you.
Thanks for coming out.
No problem. Sorry again. I apologize.
It's okay.
Um
I'm just going to grab your name just
because you knew that that book bag was
out obviously.
Mhm.
So, there's
what connects it to her is there's a
journal in there that has her name on
it.
Mhm.
So, and there's
alcohol in it, so
Yeah.
Uh what's your first name?
Raul. r a u l
Last name?
Diaz. d i a z
You got a good phone number?
All right.
If you want to go in the house for a
little bit, you can if you want.
Oh, yeah. I'll
It's going to be cold.
Yeah. So, I'm I'm going to hang out
until the tow trucks get tow truck gets
here. You'll hear them pull up. The
problem is that the company that's
coming out usually takes like 45 minutes
to get out here.
So, I'm going to block this off. If you
want to turn I mean, you're going to
hear the tow truck when they pull up.
It's going to be loud. So, if you want
to come back out just to make sure
nothing's damaged.
Um appreciate you.
Thank you.
10-5 10-40.
I recovered a bottle of vodka in her bag
with her name on it.
Um
you want me to just keep it with me?
I'll turn it over to you when I'm done.
All right, 10-4. I have her sister's
information uh if you need
Emma had previously been cited for
