Okay? You're under arrest. Put your hands behind your back you're under arrest. Please don't fall. Yeah, he's already Put your hands together like you're praying. Like you're praying. Like you're praying. Like you're praying. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you? Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me now? I'm just going to ask you about that the crash at the BP over by the Publix on Banister. So, were you involved in a in a small collision at the BP at Banister over by the Publix and Matt Highway? Okay, so >> 36 River Road. >> That's >> That's me 3911. >> Okay. What's your driver's name? >> That's my >> Hotel Bravo 3990 RHB 3990 >> Your supervisor, so that I can get someone to drive this and deliver the mail properly. >> Yeah, they're going to they're going to have to. >> Yeah. >> What is their name? >> Uh >> Your boss, Amanda? >> Yes. >> What's her phone number? >> Uh You have to get my >> Where would that Is it in a card? Yes, sir. >> Jesus. >> My cell phone is dead. >> Where's your phone at? In your pocket? >> Yes, sir. >> This pocket? Oh, this pocket. >> My phone. >> That's a wallet. Is your phone in the car? >> No, it's I'm really sorry. >> That's scary stuff, man. >> Four Loko? >> The uh >> Smells like a Four Loko. >> No, sir. Not that. >> Absolutely Absolutely positive, cuz it smells like a Four Loko. >> No, that. >> Yep. >> The uh the >> 10 out here or 14, see what Since it's a government vehicle. >> Yeah. >> 1140 1026 >> And I'm probably going to lose it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I mean, I I can't say for certain, but I I can say I see people get fired for a lot less than this. You say you just started, when did you start working there? >> Um 2 years. >> 2 years, so you got a you've been there a minute. >> So, I just got this route. >> Okay. Where were you driving at before? >> Uh >> Still in [ __ ] or still in Forsyth? Okay. >> [ __ ] Dawson. >> Okay. Do you know Amanda's last name, your boss? Do you know her last name? >> Amanda >> Quick question. Why is there Narcan in your lunch box? >> Uh >> Hey, just walk around. I'm going to go see if I can find a manna >> I'm trying to get >> Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. See that? >> The right hand side down there. I'm going to try. >> I don't know, we just didn't want you to fall over. >> Yeah, I'm not I'm not a criminal. Well, I'm just Hold on, hold on. >> No phone? >> Nope. >> Probably lost it. >> Do you know where your phone is at? What's your phone number? >> It's in there. >> Yeah, what's your phone number? >> Somewhere under all this, all these people's mail. >> Yeah, it's right here. >> Yeah. >> All right. You said a manna >> Yes, sir. >> We don't want you to fall over, okay? So, we're going to help you out. Sure. So, we're going to stand up now. Daryl, we're going to stand up and we're going to walk to the back of the car. Come on. Barely not much, just he's got a wallet in his front left. All right, you can take a seat right in there, Daryl. Swing your feet in. It's going to be a bit of a squeeze, you're a tall guy, okay? So, if you need to sit a little awkwardly, that's fine. That's a lot of dang vodka, man. Hang on here. You know what's actually This could be mixed with vodka. Yeah. Yes, sir. Well, we found a little correlation with um the hit-and-run, so I believe this will be our hit-and-run vehicle because the front, maybe we're going to say 11:00 of her vehicle, it has a big old shiny blue W on it. Where there's a www.usps on the passenger side, there's a lot of paint transfer. How are you, ma'am? Well, we tried calling you. >> Oh. Well, he got my balls, so he called me from home. >> Yes, ma'am. So, unfortunately, what's going on is she is being placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open alcohol container, >> Wow. >> and hit-and-run. >> Okay. So, he um he's not even in the area. He's >> I was going to say, He admitted to me that he had two Four Lokos. >> He had what? >> Two Four Lokos. He also had, if you want to come with me, >> Yeah, I need a picture of it. >> It was It was half full. She's mov- She's moving He almost ran into this ditch right here. It was about half full. She's flipping the mail truck around at the moment. >> Okay. Who is she? That's >> She's with the county office. So, it was in the ditch. We just didn't want to It was at an angle. >> Hello. >> She left her mail truck here, so. >> I appreciate her doing that. He wasn't where he was supposed to be on his route. Um but uh >> Way off his route. >> But now that we've had this call, they've taken him to the county Yes. and I'm going to take the truck and go back to Dawsonville, but uh Anyway, just wanted to let you know. >> Yeah, I had I let him call her. So, like I said, he is under arrest for those three charges now. That was in his lunch box. >> Okay. Like I said, I spoke to him this morning, and he was fine. So, he had to have been drinking while he was out on the route. >> He admitted to drinking starting at 10:00 in the morning to last drink was 4:00 in the afternoon. Let me just double check this case number. So, why would he be out in this area? Like, do you >> It's not specific. This is not his area. He could have come out with my friend and I were talking about it. He could have come all the way up Kelly Bridge and then got on Highway 9 and come this way. Unless he's just disoriented. He should never have been up this way. >> So, to the supervisor, I'm going to show you where the damage is. I don't know about the damage documentation of all this. Um the weight We got a call that he was an erratic driver as well with Layton naming the car number. Um so, the the vehicle he was involved with had a big old W stamped on his front. >> Okay. >> Driver uh front driver side. So, that's how we were able to correlate with that paint transfer and everything. But, we'll let you get out of here, man. We'll hold this traffic for you so you and her can get out of here. But, we appreciate you coming. >> It was later confirmed the 55-year-old USPS driver did a hit-and-run on two vehicles and as a result was given four charges. DUI, driving with the blood alcohol content at or above the legal limit of 0.08. His second charge was DUI less safe, meaning the USPS driver was driving while impaired to the point it's less safe to operate a vehicle even without a blood alcohol content test. His third charge was hit-and-run duty to stop return to the scene where he left the scene of the crash without stopping, providing info, or helping injured persons. His fourth and last charge was possession of open alcohol container, where you're in possession of an open alcohol beverage inside the vehicle while driving. As a result, he was able to negotiate a plea deal where he pleaded guilty on all charges. This man, there is no trial and it went down the standard plea resolution. So, the 55-year-old USPS driver was adjudicated guilty on all of the charges. His second charge, DUI less safe, was merged to DUI. And if you're wondering if the man received any jail sentencing or probation as a result of his actions. Well, he was sentenced to 24 months on probation with the first 10 days being served in county jail. So, you have 10 days in jail and a little bit under 24 months of probation plus over $2,000 in DUI costs, $1,400 in hit-and-run costs, $300 in the open container costs for a combined cost of a little bit over $3,800 in total costs and fines. Along with his 24-month probation, he was also sentenced to 40 hours of community service, alcohol and drug restrictions with random testing, DUI school, substance abuse evaluation, him having to surrender his driver's license [music] immediately. Let me know your honest thoughts on this case down below in the comments. This one is a little bit unusual as you have a government employee clearly driving around in a route that was not his, extremely intoxicated with multiple hit-and-runs. Honestly, I'm glad nothing more serious happened. Make sure you stay safe out there and I'll see you in the next video. >> 10:00 >> 10:00? >> Mail scattered everywhere. >> Oh. Hey, real quick, you said you only had four Locos, correct? Only four Locos? >> Well, >> cuz I can see a vodka bottle clear as day in your lunch box. >> Yes, sir. >> Like this? >> Yes, sir. I'll do it. Perfect. Got it. Oh. I'm probably going to lose it. >> I can't say for certain, but I I can say I see people get fired for a lot less than this.
