DUI, driving under the influence, which is a misdemeanor, meaning the defendant was operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs to the extent that normal faculties were affected. Secondly, he was charged with resisting an officer without violence, which is a first-degree misdemeanor where he refused, obstructed, or interfered with law enforcement during a lawful investigation or arrest without using physical force. [music] And lastly, he was charged with reckless driving, when you're driving with an obvious disregard for other people's safety. He entered a plea of no contest to DUI and resisting. And avoiding trial, he was adjudicated guilty by a judge on DUI and resisting an officer without violence. His third charge, reckless driving, was dropped. As a result of being adjudicated guilty on DUI and resisting without violence, he was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation. He did not [music] face any additional jail time, but paid roughly $1,600 in court costs, fines, and additional fees. His driver's license was suspended for 6 months. He had a 10-day vehicle impound. He was also required to attend DUI school and complete evaluation for treatment. He's unable to have any alcohol or drugs and faces random testing at any time. He was also given 50 hours of community service, which he can also buy out at $10 an hour. So, in summary, he was convicted of DUI plus resisting. He avoided jail time at his sentencing, received a 12-month probation, license suspension, DUI school plus treatment, vehicle impound, and around $1,600 in court costs and fines. Let me know your honest thoughts down below in the comments on this case. What are your personal opinions on his sentencing? Stay safe out there, and I'll see you in the next video.
