When money's involved, people can get a little crazy. >> Are you guys not able to help me get a refund? >> Get up. I'm I'm going to beat your >> We're done. >> This woman is causing complete chaos holding up the Wendy's drive-thru line because they got her order wrong. >> I've been racially profiled. I've been threatened. This is about to be booming on the news. >> And with this man is facing arrest at an airport bar, he's forced to call his friends and family and beg for help. >> Dad, I'm I'm about to get arrested, dude. You got to send me the money right now, please. >> Take the card from him and try to swipe it, officer. >> But first, officers are called by a woman who's claiming Wendy's is refusing to refund her order, but she will quickly find out this may have been a big mistake. >> Someone blocking your drive-thru? >> Someone blocking still blocking the drive-thru? >> So, someone's blocking your drive-thru? >> Mhm. >> Cuz they want a refund? >> That's annoying for everybody behind them. >> And very hard listen screaming at me so bad. >> What does she want the refund for? Like >> For I don't know. I'm not state to ask nothing to her and I just come in tomorrow to my big boss because talk to him because I can do nothing. >> If I can get her to calm down and she does is entitled to a refund >> Could be disorderly. >> Yes, but she is screaming at me so bad. >> Yeah, yeah, I'm not going to I'm sorry for her screaming at you. She's blocking the whole drive-thru, right? I got you. >> Regardless if it's disorderly or not, there should be a law about blocking a drive-thru and it should be a felony. >> You blocked the Wendy's drive-thru. >> Fair enough. Get some more units. >> Because cold fries and cold burgers are the worst. >> Hi. Officer Brunette, did you call? >> Yes, I did. >> Okay. Okay, once I just so you know you're being audio and video recorded. >> Okay. >> Okay. I've been disrespected. I've been called out of my name. I've been threatened. >> Okay. >> Because I've asked for a refund. >> Okay. >> So, can you please take this food to them and get my money? >> Yeah, that's not my job. >> Yeah. >> But >> That's for you to do. >> So, so what what's the issue with it? I'm just trying to get the full story here. Okay. >> And she's like, "What's the problem?" I'm like, "It's not what I ordered." >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Give me 1 second, all right? >> So, why don't you go park your car, bring the food in, and allow everybody else to get their food? This lady, you can tell already, is very self-righteous, and everything revolves around her in this world, obviously. >> Give me one I'll be out with a gray like a gray Toyota Corolla. >> So, that's smart. She can already tell the lady's not cooperative. Just run her plate and get information that way. The courts have decided that because plates are in public view, officers can just randomly run your license plate for no reason at all. We can just run them and get your info. But, when you do that, you can't go one step further and open somebody's bop. But, it will give you alerts if their license is good, if their registration is good, if they have warrants, things like that. >> Um So, what's your name? >> Tia. >> Tia. Tia, Officer Garnett. Okay. Tia, can you can you hang up and deal with me? Okay. >> Oh, boy. >> Okay. >> Already building her narrative. >> So, what they had said was that if you come in, they just want this to be done civilly, too. They can do your money. Okay. Well, I'll be there. I'll be there. >> How about ask her to move her car? Cold burgers. Cold fries. >> Okay. So, you have the option to get the refund. If that's not what you choose, then you need to go. Okay. >> So, how do I get the refund? I have to go in here to get a refund? >> Um I can see if you can do it from there. >> Just go in yourself. >> Is that What's the name of the >> to get my money back. I have to go in and talk to the to the cashier sometimes. >> Can you give me the name? Copy. And uh what is it for? >> Uh-oh. It's like something came back. >> No, no, no. That's all. It's just for my You got your safety, I got my safety, right? >> trust you guys. I've been threatened. Why can't I just get my money back and go? >> The results of Chantel's plate checker in and they reveal a massive problem. She has an active warrant for assault. >> So, she has an active warrant, but has no problem calling the police there for her little disagreement with Wendy's. Smart. >> She's in the drive-thru right now. >> What is it? >> She's in the drive-thru right now. Um Yeah, it's It's over there. She wants her money back, but um Right now, at this point, I also have her for disorderly, too. If she's intentionally re- So, um I was It was an assault for >> Are they in the drive-thru line up? Are they first in line? >> Yeah, they're not going to move. >> What car is she driving? >> Uh it's a like grayish Toyota Corolla. Literally first one. >> Yeah, how you doing, ma'am? Can we just park on the other side? Thank you. >> I want a refund. >> Okay, yeah. We can talk in person. >> want to talk to you all. I just want my money. >> So, she doesn't really want like a resolution to the problem. She just wants to be upset and make everybody else suffer. That's what it seems like. >> What is the problem? I have been threatened. I have been called names. >> Who is the problem? >> And now I'm being forced to move. I didn't get out of my car to get the food. >> I don't walk. Hardly ever. >> I don't understand what the big issue is. >> Did they say why? So, what's what's the issue here? >> I asked her I came I tried to reorder my food. She said she can't hear me. I'm telling her what I want. She's like, "Why are you yelling?" I'm like, "Can you hear me?" She says, "No, I'm I can't hear you." So, I'm saying, "Well, can I I'm trying to order my food." She says, "Well, why are you yelling?" And I'm like, "Well, I ordered my food already and you got it wrong. So, I just want a replacement." Then she says, "Why are you looking all in my car, man?" >> what's your what's your name? >> Laura. Disrespectful. >> is actually doing this to blog. And now I can't even get my money back. >> Okay. >> That is crazy. So, can I not able to You guys can't give me a refund? >> Time to go. >> Are you guys not able to >> Forget about your refund, sweetheart. >> I told you guys we're >> Yeah, can can I'm just trying to explain. I'm going to What Tia, you're not free to leave right now. >> No, no. I'm not free to I called you. >> Yeah, you're not free to leave cuz we're having a conversation about well, one, your disorderly conduct. >> I'm just literally I'm not doing anything. Are you kidding me? >> So, I'm not trying to go that route. >> Oh my goodness. >> Can you wait for him to come back cuz that was him right there. >> That is crazy. Oh my goodness. I'm so glad you've been on the phone this whole time. This is about to be booming on the news. >> Oh my gosh. >> This is crazy. I've been >> Going to be booming on the internet. >> threatened. >> [laughter] >> Racially profiled. So, she's like one of these hyper-vigilant people about race, which are probably one of the most annoying people you'll ever meet. >> I've been robbed, pretty much. Their food is right there. I still don't have my money back. And you're telling What am I being What am I being held here for? >> So, right now disorderly, but I'm not trying to do that. What >> What am I disorderly? >> What So, what I'm trying to do >> Let the cop talk. Oh my gosh. >> Shantia has been escalating and not cooperating. Corporal Turner places a terminal spike strip under her front wheels. >> These little spike strips are great. So portable. >> This is a tire deflation device. >> I've told you you're not free to leave. >> Get out of the >> My car is not in park. >> Get out of the car. You got a war >> Yeah, playtime's over. >> I have a warrant. Where? >> Get out of the car. You have a warrant. You're not free to leave. You drive forward, your tire's going to >> Please. If you drive forward, your car's going to pop. You understand that? >> These poor people in line. >> Turn your vehicle off. >> Are you the sergeant? >> Turn your vehicle off. >> My sergeant could be en route. >> Yes, please. That is crazy. You know, I told you guys to get a refund, and you're telling me and who has a warrant for arrest? >> Step out. You have a warrant. >> [laughter] >> Step out of the vehicle. >> And it's you. >> Step out of the vehicle. By the way, you're getting charged with obstruction as well, by the way. >> Yeah, how? >> Did you not step out of the vehicle? Warrant or not, you you are under arrest for obstruction. For not getting out of the vehicle? >> Time to start cooperating. >> I don't have shoes on. That's why I'm not showing my ID. >> Well, you were refusing. >> It was my shoes the whole time. That's why I can't cooperate. And also, people are are under this idea that calling for a supervisor, somehow you're able then to pause the investigation and no action can happen till they get there. Totally untrue. Do not need a supervisor. >> To just get out. Can you please just get out of here? This is crazy. I cannot believe >> This is crazy. We can't believe it, either. >> You guys are crazy, yeah. >> Are you going to step out of the vehicle? >> Somebody's crazy. >> You're robbing me. I have to go to work. >> All these people got to leave. >> Yeah. >> Uh, the french fries were like icicles. The hamburgers, like hockey pucks. Please. >> Get out of the car now. >> Well, can I move my vehicle? >> No. >> Hey, Shantia. We got to uncooperate. >> I'm not trying to be uncooperative. >> Okay, well, you are. >> Oh, you're not? vehicle now. I am. I'm getting badge numbers. Can I have your guys' badge numbers? >> [laughter] >> Don't reach for anything. >> Uh they'll be on the police report. >> Can I put my shoes on? I have no shoes on my feet. Now they're turning into a whole because I want a refund? >> No, cuz you got a warrant. >> For what? >> You know that will be the story. I asked for a refund and the police showed up and arrested me because I'm black. That's probably what she's going to tell everybody. >> You know you guys haven't even identified me. Are you going to tell me I have a warrant? >> Because I got your DOL. >> Oh my god. Does this mean this is my car? >> Yeah. >> This is crazy. >> And you match the picture. >> me for any identification. You guys have not asked me for anything that's going on. This is crazy. >> And you own matches the registered owner. DOL was something I'm not familiar with. I did a quick Google and I think it means Department of Licensing in the state. We use like DL and stuff like that. I've heard that, but DOL was new to me. If you guys are familiar with DOL, let me know in the comments if your state uses it. >> I'm going to get out of the car. Can I put my shoes on? >> Yeah. Grab your shoes. Get out of the car. >> reach. I'm confused. >> Get out of the car. I'll grab your shoes for you. >> There's ketchup right here. Sorry. Can I just Can you grab my shoes? >> Listen, I have my shoes on. There's ketchup here. You can see why I just can't comply. >> This is crazy. Please hurry. Please hurry up and get here. I'm at the Wendy's right down the street. >> You confirmed the owner's photo? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. >> Can you please grab my shoes? I'm getting my feet dirty. I don't >> Step out. Step out. Ketchup's not going to hurt you. >> I don't >> You're holding up about 15 people. >> Well, can I just >> Yeah. For a refund. Okay. Get out of the car. Get out of the car. You're detained. Oh my gosh. Oh, you're entitled. All right. >> America. You're not even entitled to get your money back. >> Put your hands behind your back. You're being detained in handcuffs. >> For what? >> Because of your warrant. I I you you're under arrest. You're being detained. >> Because of my I a refund. You haven't even identified me. >> it. All right. Yes, they What they did was they heard you wanted a refund, they had the courts issue a warrant, and now you're being taken into custody. Happens all the time. >> You didn't even ask me for identification. How did you write me up for a warrant? You haven't identified me. So, I what I did >> They ID'd you. >> Call a lawyer. Get out here now, please. >> If you don't know, when you run somebody's license plate, your picture comes up. So, it's not that difficult. >> Can I grab your shoes for you? >> I I called you guys to help me get a refund, and you're arresting me? >> And I was trying to get you a refund. >> But how is this my fault? >> I was not yelling. >> Cuz she never wanted a resolution, it seems. >> You don't think this is upsetting for me? >> your shoes? >> No. Like, that doesn't matter? >> I think everything upsets you, ma'am. >> talk crazy, too, because I asked for a refund. >> Do you want your shoes or not? >> Can I have my phone, please? >> What a mouthpiece. My goodness. >> No. Let's Let's walk over here. We're going to go to the other side of the store and to one of patrol cars. We're going to just take her to the our patrol car. >> For what? >> Are they going to walk her through the restaurant? It looks like the setup there is they kind of have to walk her through the restaurant cuz it looks like the drive-thru exits to the street, but it's unfortunate. >> And you're arresting me for what? >> Language. Yeah, really. Potty mouth. >> You're arrested. This is some racist This is cuz I've never in my life That's crazy, bro. This is bananas. >> What's bananas is that she can like construct in her mind how she's in the right in this situation, and how all the cops and everybody else who works at the restaurant isn't, and also racism. That seems way crazier. >> Regardless >> How do I call you guys for help? >> Do you want to Do you want to hear the answer? Do you want to hear it? >> No, she doesn't. >> Because right now, at a minimum, you're violating Bellevue's municipal code for disorderly conduct. >> That's not my intention. >> Okay. You told the dispatcher >> that you were intentionally blocking this line. So, you just You're disturbing the peace, right? You're disturbing all of these the public. Even if I don't even deal with the warrant, at a minimum, we're there. Then you refuse to get out of the vehicle. >> I was scared. >> Now you're at obstruction. >> No, you told me not to reach. He put his hand on his gun. >> Shut it. Shut your yapper. >> times before to get out of the vehicle and you refused to do so. >> Because what do I mean? I didn't feel safe. >> It's all on video. >> I told you I didn't feel safe getting out of the vehicle. >> It's all on body. >> Ma'am, I'm Sergeant Halstead. >> So, I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to jail tonight. >> How >> I called >> There are multiple avenues for which you could be going to jail tonight. It's been explained to you, but somehow, it's just not getting in. >> I called you guys for help to get a refund. I was I requested a refund. >> Okay. >> I gave them their food. She told me she She cussed me through the roof. She talked to me crazy, slammed the window. Yes, sir. She slammed the window, so I'm >> Not illegal. >> The officer when the officer came, she asked me if I could come in to settle it to get a refund. I said, "I do not feel comfortable getting out of my car and going inside." >> How have you made it this far in life? >> Well, it sounds like you have a warrant, an outstanding warrant, which is >> [laughter] >> All right. There's a warrant. So, regardless of this whole situation, you're going. >> This is crazy. >> It is crazy. >> Even regardless of the rate for disorderly conduct, I waited for you guys. >> Ma'am, so the officers are giving you lawful [clears throat] orders to get out of the car, and if you're not doing that >> No, this is crazy. I called you guys for help. >> You have an outstanding assault case at a Red Robin, it sounds like. >> That's okay. I'm not talking to you. >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> I'm not listening to these true facts you're giving me. I'm done. >> You guys You guys have embarrassed me because I'll be out here. You kidding me? >> Shontia makes arrangements to have her sister come pick up her car, who was on [music] the phone with her during the entire interaction. >> She's on her way. She's almost here. I need her to get my car. >> Okay. She has permission to take it? >> Yes. >> And she's got a valid license? >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you want her to have all these keys or just the car keys? >> All of them. >> Okay. Do you want her to have your phone, too, or do you want that to go with you? >> I want it to go. >> You always want somebody to take their phone because a lot of people don't remember phone numbers anymore. If she has any chance of being bailed at all, she's going to use her phone to call somebody, and she's going to need that info. And you're going to want her gone if she's allowed to leave. >> Um he's going to switch these cuffs out real quick, okay? >> Does that feel better now? >> Much better. >> Yeah? All right. So, he's just going to gauge them right and make sure they're not too loose, not too tight. He's going to double lock them. Okay. >> Got the paddy wagon there. Must be nice. I've never worked at a place that actually has transport that will come pick up your prisoner, but I like it. >> I think Moto Moto likes you. >> Can you come this way, please? Watch your step, okay? We're going to go to the back of the van. >> Okay. >> Oh, boy. More theatrics inbound, I'm sure. Bye-bye. >> I don't know. >> I called my sister. She's >> I need the keys. >> Does she want to get some paperwork or she being detained for? >> I need some paperwork. Okay. >> Mhm. >> Uh and then she's also being booked in on an obstructing charge of us. >> I just want to know why she's going to jail. Is she going to be able to bail out? >> Uh they just told you like 4 seconds ago. >> She's going to jail because of a driving offense. >> getting booked in on a warrant for her arrest. From rental. Okay? >> Okay. >> She's got a warrant. >> I'll say it slower. >> uniformed officers take her into custody. >> You can understand. >> name after she called you for some assistance for a refund from Wendy's, right? So, you're taking my sister to jail for a refund from Wendy's? >> No. >> No, she's going to jail. >> They're definitely sisters. >> she has a warrant, but how did you identify her as having a warrant? Is it because she's black? >> No. We're completely >> Oh my gosh. Not surprising, but still, oh my gosh. >> You have the case number. If you've got a lot of questions about it, you can request not only just the case, but you can request all of our body camera footage, and everything will come to you. So, if if you if you really think something's going on here >> confused on is the detainment. >> That's where a lot of confusion is. >> It went from a warrant to now you're getting obstruction. Now you're adding extra charges. I'm That's where I'm really I'm confused. I'm confused by the whole situation. It played out. I need a refund >> You weren't there. >> Right. >> You're not providing with a refund, so I will have to follow up with everybody. >> Okay. >> And maybe probably make a filing grievance against everybody cuz >> Sorry, but I'm going to have to have you investigated, and obviously you'll all be guilty. >> Once the black officer came, that's when things really escalated. >> Okay. >> And I feel like they do that for a lot of situations with black people in the community. They feel like, "Oh, let me bring on this black officer for some understanding." But it's really not. I >> So, now she's trying to build the narrative that the black officer is some kind of Uncle Tom, and that's also racism in the police department. Okay. We've heard it all before. >> She did a lot. Like, this my sister actually sees black officer around here a lot. Like, you guys keep the same people patrolling. She lives out here, so she's like, "Oh, they have the one black officer in Bellevue." And so, of course, he comes out to handle her racial situation, and after that, things changed. >> Not a racial situation, just laws being broken. >> You're You're bringing up the racial thing quite a bit, Kate. >> Absolutely. It felt very racial. >> Because when I was just her and my >> You're You it felt very racial. Was there something specific that they did that you believe that this is race-based? >> Let's base this in reality and in facts. Proceed. Please let me know what you have. >> There's something they said or something they said? >> anything, but he was more aggressive with her and her tone. Like he didn't explain to her what was going on. He kind of just let her know, "Oh, you have a warrant. I don't care really what you're here for. You're being detained." She called the police. >> that's the bare minimum. It's fine. >> to get assistance with whatever she had going on. Thank you so much. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I'm sorry about this though. >> Wendy's traveling. >> Okay. >> I'm crazy. >> Agreed. >> I will never call the police for help again. >> Super duper. >> I'll never call you guys again. >> But you will. >> This is what's wrong with you guys. >> No. >> [screaming] >> This is so bad. >> Agreed again. >> I called for help. I called for help. You guys don't give a [ __ ] about white people. >> Not true. >> [screaming] >> This is so wrong. Wrong. >> There was a fair amount of wrongdoing. We'll get back to her charges in just a moment, but first the cops are called to an airport bar where a man allegedly can't pay his bill. >> So, he's got someone on the phone trying to send him some money, but I don't know if his Apple Pay card is working. It's not working, so I don't know how this is going to go. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> Uh-oh. >> He's trying to pay with a credit card or >> Credit Uh well, he gave me a card and it said transaction not allowed. He said he got some fraud on his card for using it in a different state. Uh you you know, the usual stuff. >> I mean, I don't know. I have traveled before and usually when you go out of your state, if you don't let your bank know, they can actually shut your card down because of fraud. And if they do that like on a Sunday, it's a huge pain because you can't get to someone to turn it back on. At least for my bank, I use a small credit union, so maybe that's on me. >> But yeah, now he's like trying to call people to get to send him money or whatever. But if the card's ain't working, I just don't understand how that >> So he's drunk now, right? He's not allowed to >> He's He's getting there, yeah. >> All right. >> Oh. How much do you How much is it? >> What's the total? What? It's 96.42. >> Try this one. Oops, sorry. >> Nope. >> [laughter] >> Oh boy. >> It's already home, bro. >> No. >> Give me Give me a copy of the receipt and everything. >> You need a copy of the receipt? >> Yeah. Dude, do you Do you got money to pay for your bill or not? >> Um yeah, I got money to pay for the bill, but the tip ain't working. Just give me 2 seconds, man. >> I've been here for more than 2 seconds, so she's ran through the >> Real New York accent there. >> I um >> So, it's either you pay for the bill or you ain't got the money. >> What happens after that? >> Theft Theft of services, yeah. >> What happens after that? Yeah, so in Georgia, it looks like if you can't pay your bill, you go to jail. In Mass, really, you have to show intent that you intended to defraud the restaurant, like a chew and screw or a dine and dash, as they call it. Otherwise, Mass will just kind of push it into the civil realm and you probably wouldn't be arrested. >> You're going to put me in jail? >> Yeah. >> Really? >> Yeah. You ain't paying You ain't paying your bill, dude. That You got >> It's ain't New York, pal. >> [clears throat] >> I got money to pay it, though. >> So, why ain't you wouldn't pay it? >> South, maybe. Law and order. >> You got any money yet? Nah, I didn't. Take all my drinks, bro. Come on, man. Shoot me those couple bucks over. >> Should be an easy fix. Call a friend, have them, I don't know, Venmo you the money or send it to one of your accounts or even have them pay with their card over the phone. Shouldn't be too difficult. >> I don't know why my bank account ain't working, bro, but just please send it to my Apple Pay, man, or they're going to arrest me. Yeah, I got a cop right here. >> Let me talk to the cop. >> No, he ain't going to talk to you, bro. >> Cuz you're a [ __ ] artist. So, did you >> You don't You want to >> Oh, boy. This guy might have some trouble getting some money from even a friend. >> You want You want to talk? Yeah, officer, here you go. >> I don't I don't need to talk to him. I need you to pay your bill. They want to go home. I don't want to I don't I I don't want to deal with this crap. >> It's our [ __ ] No, I got to pay my bill for my [ __ ] dinner. Hold on, let me see. >> Wow. >> I ain't getting on no flight till I pay my bill. Just just relax. All right, let me send you the bread. >> So, this is what happens when you do something like this. Something along these lines over and over again to the people in your life. They just don't want to help. >> I don't know why my It's fine. All right, who the [ __ ] you have with you, bro? >> Rough. >> the money right now, and they could send it back. Very simple. >> If you If you have the money, why don't you pay them? >> I It's just getting declined. I've been in Florida, so I'm from New York. >> Okay. >> We can tell. >> It's right there. They have All right, just You know what? I'm going to call my dad. Just please. No, no, you can't talk to a [ __ ] police officer like that. Show some respect, man. Come on. >> Yo, take the card from him and try to swipe it, officer. Just try to swipe it. He's a [ __ ] liar. >> [laughter] >> Wow. >> Where's the card at? Did you try to swipe >> The last one says transaction not allowed. >> Transaction not allowed? >> That's my other one. You didn't give me another one. Both cards declined. >> You got a credit card? Both Both of these are declined. You got a credit card? >> You have something, man. >> I'm going to call my dad. >> Poor bartender just wants to go home. >> Just worry about the worry about the credit card right now. Don't worry about calling your dad. >> Okay, I'll still call him. >> [clears throat] >> See what dad has to say. >> Hello. >> Yeah, I'm trying to pay with my credit card and uh >> Why don't they give you the password? I don't know what to tell you. They just said I don't know what to do. I can't do anything. I'm trying to help you. >> I'm about to get arrested, so you're going to have to get me out of jail because there's an officer here, bro, and my card's not working, dude. >> So, if there was a like normal trustful relationship going on, your kid calls you, says I somehow I can't pay my bill, even if you're in the middle of anything, you would stop and send the money, right? Doesn't seem like they have that kind of relationship. >> Put money on Apple Pay, man, so I can pay this bill, please. >> That was all my money. You know I don't have any money, Grayson. >> How do you not have money when >> Dad's broke? >> Put the money on Apple Pay, you idiot. >> I don't have all my money. >> Whoa. >> all your money. >> Come on, let's go. >> Call your dad an idiot. You stole his money? >> Yo, Mike, Mike, Mike, can you loan me $20, bro? >> Well, why do you need $150? >> Because I got an officer next to me and they think I'm trying to run out on a bill and I'm trying to use all my cards and they ain't working. >> Do you understand how you are >> dude, shut the [ __ ] up and >> [laughter] >> help me out. >> Wow. >> You're my friend. I would do it for you. >> Yeah, but dude, everyone's been helping you this whole weekend. Dude, you're you're you have to go to jail. >> Oh. >> Sometimes >> jail can help. Sometimes jail has to be your rock bottom and it sounds like that's at least what his friends think. >> That's really not the way to get the money, but >> Yeah. >> This your last chance. >> Just uh swearing at your friends, calling them names. >> This your ID right here? >> Mike, I'm about to go to jail, dude, please. I'll send it right back. >> Please, Mike. Send him money. >> Because you >> [laughter] >> guys are all being How are we being Bro, you're being a spending money you don't have. What? I have it though, guy. >> Valid. >> You don't pay for six days. Who the [ __ ] said that, Nick? >> [clears throat] >> Bro, do you understand how [ __ ] up you are? None of us are being dicks.
