Domestic cases are never fun situations to deal with. In today's video, we have two cases where there's bad situations between two couples. >> He said that if anyone comes in the house, he's going to light them up. >> We have a woman who's refusing to accept that her partner got a restraining order on her. >> Do not talk to him. That's a violation. >> Talk to him. Britz, can we come in? >> Do not. >> In another case where the cops save a woman from an extremely abusive husband. Michelle, >> you have to tell her the truth this time. >> This is what you wanted, right? But first, the cops were called when this woman wouldn't leave her partner alone. >> 73 location. Sorry. >> I'm not getting >> She's not getting handcuffed. I think she said >> stay here. Don't drive. >> I'm not getting handcuffed. >> You're not getting handcuffed. >> It's like she's trying to leave. >> We're here to talk. >> Get out of the car. >> I am not getting handcuffed again. >> Stay there. >> Okay. >> All right. My partner will stay with you. Let me talk to him. >> I'm not getting handcuffed. >> Then don't do anything that's going to get you handcuffed. And listen, >> we have to talk. We have to talk. >> Here's the deal. >> No. >> No, we're not talking. >> No, he doesn't want to talk. >> He's got to talk to me. >> He doesn't have to do anything >> because if he doesn't, we got to sell this house. >> Okay. Well, that's that's up to you guys down the line. You guys will handle the attorneys. >> That's what we have to do. >> Do not approach him. If you approach him, you will get handcuffed. Go to my partner right now. Last morning. now. >> Okay. Hi. >> All right. Here's the deal. >> All right. >> So, he went he got an order of protection. That's what this paperwork is. >> I will not touch him. I will not touch him. >> It's not touching. >> I will not touch him. >> So, I'm telling you there's an order of protection. You're being served. This is that order of protection. >> Okay. I will not touch him. >> So, with restraining orders, the judge sets the conditions. They can vary greatly. One of the conditions could be no longer abuse the person, but you can still live in the same house. It sounds like she got the full-blown restraining order, like can't go near them, can't live in the same house, have to vacate your residence, the whole thing. Usually the court date is like a week or two in the future, so it's not super inconvenient, but still when you have to leave your house and live somewhere else, even for a week, it's really rough. >> I would advise you to carefully read this because at this point, you're not allowed to go in this house. You're not allowed to have any contact with him. And if you do, >> I live here. My stuff is here. >> You have a court date whether you choose on the 15th read through this. >> Oh, no. I have to go and talk. >> Do not if you talk to him at this point. >> I won't talk to him. >> If you even look, it can be a violation. >> I won't look at him. I won't look at him. But we got to go and talk. >> You can't talk to him. >> Here's the deal. >> I won't talk to him. >> We could stay. You can grab a few things if you need some clothes, stuff like that. >> No. No. We got to go. >> You'll be able to come back, but you'll need to call us to escort to collect property. If you talk to him, you're getting handcuffed. >> I will not talk to him. Walking right towards him or walk towards him. You're getting handcuffed. Restraining order violations are one of those things that it's not you can arrest. It's you shall arrest. So this lady's really playing with fire here by even walking towards a guy trying to establish contact. >> Look at him. >> We're not playing this. Okay, Cynthia. >> Look at him. I won't look at him. >> Why are you walking over there? Go over here. >> I won't look at him. >> We're not playing this game. >> I'm not getting >> Do you need anything from in the house? >> Yes, I live here. >> Okay, we have to talk. You'll get 10 minutes to get all of your talking from this point out is going to be in the courts. Okay. You have a court date. >> We have to talk. >> You have a court date. >> It's right there. July 15th. >> Okay. July 15. >> It tells you where to be. >> Okay. July. >> That's whether to determine whether this stands for up to two more years or whether it's thrown away. >> Okay, we'll talk. If you talk to him, if you tell somebody to talk to him on your behalf, >> if you come here without deputies escorting you, anything like that, those are violations and you get arrested and you can be charged and put in jail for violating orders of protection. >> Talk to him. >> No texting, social media. Don't tell your family to call him, anything like that. >> I won't. I won't. >> Okay. I promise. >> So, right now, what we could do for you if you have to grab some stuff just to say >> I have to be here for a while. >> You can't be here. >> I live here. You can't. >> Fritz, we have >> no That's a violation. >> Most people you give those warnings to are like, "Okay, no problem. See you later." Not this lady. >> If you address him, >> you're getting handcuffed. >> Help him get your stuff. >> We're trying to be nice to you. You're making this difficult. >> If you talk, you're getting handcuffed. >> Do not walk up to him, Cynthia. Do not go anywhere near him. >> Cynthia, tisk tisk. I'm not leaving today. >> You have to You have to leave. There's no place to go. >> You can leave in your car. You can leave in handcuffs. >> There's no place to go. >> Britz, can we come in? >> Do not >> do not do not one more. Do not speak towards him, at him. Anything or you will go to jail. Do you understand? >> Very lenient with her. >> I don't think you understand. >> We are here to help you gather a few things so you can go get a hotel. We don't have a lot. >> We cannot talk at this point. At this point, he went and got a judge's court order against you saying he does not want to talk to you in person. >> Fritz, we have to talk. >> He cannot talk to you. >> We have to talk. >> If you return here, you get handcuff place to go. >> That doesn't matter. Do not touch that car handle. >> Okay. >> Wow. She's violating the order just right in front of them. Totally defiant. The kind of person you can't tell anything to. We can kind of use our imagination to think how this order came about. I'm not going anywhere. >> You're getting in the car and leaving or you're getting arrested for violating >> the order to go. Like I have no place to go. >> Get a hotel. There's hotels. >> I don't have a hotel. >> There's hotels. >> I don't have a hotel. >> Well, you could get one. >> No. He's got >> Call an attorney right now. >> I don't have an attorney. >> You can call one. >> I don't have one. >> It doesn't matter. That's why I'm telling you to call one. >> I don't have one. >> Okay. We're not going to do this all day. >> All right. >> Do you want to grab some items from the house? >> No, we have to talk. >> You're not going to talk to him. I won't talk to him. You have two options. There is no we anymore. >> We need to talk. I won't talk. Here's your options. You can go in with us, grab a few clothing items without disturbing anything else and leave. And if not, you're just going to get handcuffed. Okay. >> No, I don't want to get handcuffed again. >> Well, then you have to listen to us because that's the only other I have to I have to go in. >> We have to talk. >> You're not talking to him. >> I won't talk. I will not talk. >> Then what is we are going to talk? >> You keep saying we're going to talk. You're not talking to him at him and the airspace is in. So we can go in, get your toothbrush and meds, whatever else you want. I can leave. >> No, no, no, no. >> Those are your only two options. >> No. >> Yes. >> He's got to talk. >> That's usually how it works. Initially, you give the person like 10 or 15 minutes to grab a few belongings for the night and then later they can schedule with the police department to come back to get more substantial stuff. But still, till they have the court date, they really can't be in that house. >> You cannot stay in this house or anywhere around this house or this property. >> I'm staying >> Cynthia. >> If you try to stay here, >> no, it's my house. >> You have to read what the order of protection says. I don't have glasses on. >> I just told you what it says. There's a 500t stay away from this residence. >> Nope. >> I don't harass him. >> Well, a judge in Lake County already granted that. >> I have no place to go. We have to talk. >> They are being >> Cynthia. >> Very patient. >> We have to talk. >> We have to talk. >> Do not talk to him. Do not point at them. >> Okay, I won't talk. >> Broken record. >> Go over here. >> If you do not leave, you will be handcuffed and removed. >> Do not do that again. Do not do that again. Please. That's what's going to happen. I'm giving you your options. Are you going to be compliant or are you going to refuse? >> I will stay here. I will >> You will not stay here. >> I have to stay here. This is where I live. >> Cynthia, are you saying that you are knowingly violating that order and refusing to leave? >> You're knowingly violating the order? >> No, I have to talk to him. >> Well, you read the 500 foot stayway, so >> it's time to go. >> Wrap it up, boys. Come on, Cynthia. >> We have to talk. Well, I guess you're just going to have to go to jail cuz you don't want to come back. >> I'm not going to jail. >> You're going to jail, Cynthia. >> What do you want me to do? >> Put your hand on your back. >> No, no, no. Then I'll leave. I'll leave. I'll leave. >> Finally. My goodness. >> My stuff. No. Let me get my stuff and I'll leave. >> Let me get my stuff and I'll leave. >> You've been given 400 chances. >> No, I will leave. >> Cynthia, if you resist, it's going to give you charges. >> I'll leave. >> Do you want additional charges? >> No, I'll leave. I'll leave. >> Cynthia, we chances >> We're past that. Cynthia, >> don't don't handcuff me again. >> Don't handcuff me. >> Don't handcuff. >> It comes with the territory. Cynthia, you're being arrested. >> You have your purse. >> Don't handcuff me. >> Oh my god. Don't handcuff me. All right. >> Don't handcuff me. Come on. Come on. >> Cynthia, you were given so many chances. >> No, I wasn't. [laughter] >> Not enough. >> Yeah, >> Cynthia, you did this to yourself. >> No. >> You did this to yourself, Cynthia. No, I didn't. >> You did? >> No, I didn't. >> All right. Do you have anything on you? >> No. >> Nothing. >> All right. >> Oh, please don't talk to me again. Please. >> It's too late for that. Cynthia, we gave you 400 chances to leave. >> So many chances to leave. I mean, I get it. The initial shock of it, they gave her time to accept it that she had to leave her own house, but it dragged on for so long. There was really no other recourse here. She definitely was not going to leave. Just straight up refusing. Now she gets to go spend the night in county lockup. >> No, I need my water. Walk. >> Give me my water purse. Do not resist. Okay. >> My water and my purse. >> Give me my water and my purse. >> Your stuff will be going with you. Cynthia, >> shout out orders. >> I will bring it with you. Okay. >> Give me my Give me my water, please. And take these handcuffs off, please. Cynthia >> water. >> She said please, guys. Come on. She's acting intoxicated, but I don't think she is. After the first arrest, Cynthia was released with a future court date. But just 3 days later, police received another call from her husband. >> All right, Cynthia. I know we spoke on the phone already, right? >> Maybe. Yeah, >> we just spoke like 5 minutes ago. >> Oh, that was you. Okay. Hi. >> So, this is how it's going to go. Okay. I'm going let you finish your smoke. You you >> I'm staying here till tomorrow. >> Yeah, they said I could. >> You know that you have an order of protection, >> right? Right. >> You already got arrested once for violating the order of protection, >> right? I'm not going. I I just messaged him and said, "If we're selling the house, >> you're not supposed to contact them." >> I messaged him. I didn't talk to him. >> Oh my goodness. So, I give a pretty big spiel to people when I give a restraining order for this reason. They have to understand any contact at all. You can't digitally message, text message, Facebook message, Instagram message. You can't even like write on a social media post that they've written on because that could be construed as contact. You can't give a message to a friend to pass to them. You can't send them flowers. It means zero contact and they're super super strict about it. Once they find out, you're going to be arrested or if they can't find you, they'll just issue a warrant and you'll be arrested then. >> I didn't saw. >> You messaged them and you called them yesterday. >> Mm-m. Mm- >> Yes, you did. >> I didn't call them. I saw >> I messaged him. >> You You called them? >> Yes. >> So, >> no. I'm staying here till tomorrow. >> I'm not going to the house. I'm not going to the house. >> You're going to get arrested today. Okay. >> No. >> So, stand up and place your hands. >> No. No. No. No. Don't make this worse cuz you'll catch more. Come on. >> No. Stop. Wait. No. My stuff is here. All my stuff is here. I got >> Cynthia, you've done it again. >> Okay. >> No. I'm not going back to jail. >> You violated the OP. >> I'm not going back to jail. >> You're going to jail. Okay. >> No. I didn't do anything >> like my partner said. >> No, I I'm your hands behind your back. >> I'm here. No, no, no. I'm not going to get to jail. More charges. I'm not going to get to jail. Cindy, if you do not stand up and put your hands behind your back. >> No, my stuff is here. Don't stop. If you do not stand up, turn around. Put your hands behind your back. You're going to catch more charges. >> I'm staying here. I'm staying here till tomorrow. No, I'm staying here till tomorrow. No. >> If you do not stand up now, we're going to we're going to lift you up. >> No. No. I My stuff is here, Cindy. My >> This is not for negotiation. >> I'm not I'm staying here. Stand up. No, I'm No, I'm not going to jail. >> Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Hands behind your back. >> Oh, Cynthia, >> stop pulling away. You're going to get more charges. >> No, please don't. >> No, don't. No. I got all my food. >> What? Don't you understand here? >> Leave me alone. >> Leave me alone. >> Don't do this. >> He warned you to stand up and put your hands behind your back. You refuse to do that. No, please don't do that. >> So, did not need to happen. Cynthia, >> stop. Ma'am, >> my water. No, I'm >> Stop. >> No. >> You pull away again, you're going to get another charge. >> I'm not going back to the house. I'm not going back to the house. >> No. >> Seems like she needs to get arrested to get a message. So, she knows now she can't go there cuz she refused to leave there and got arrested. Now, she's learning you also can't contact them through a message. She's being arrested. So, there's a bunch of more conditions on there that she could be arrested for if she doesn't start a little bit quicker on the uptake. >> Everything's upstairs. Can I get myself? >> I have to. >> You are under arrest. >> No, I'm not under arrest. >> No, I'm not. >> I'm not. >> Stop. >> Get out of here. >> Cindy, >> stop pulling away. >> Stop. Leave me alone. >> No. [ __ ] you. >> Oh, getting nasty now. >> Nasty. Cynthia. You're in my water. >> Don't do this. Oh god, my arms are broken now. Don't do this. You're in my water. >> You've broken her arms right now. You are not cooperating with us. >> I am. Yes, I am. I'm staying here till tomorrow. I said I could stay here. >> You got anything? >> You have a new hotel now, Cynthia. >> They said I could stay here till tomorrow. Help you. Get my [ __ ] water. Get my water. Get my purse. Get my keys. No. Get me out of here. I should have been in there. I should have been in the room. >> Seems like she's got something going on here. >> Things aren't quite right. >> I need my glasses. I need my glasses. >> Get me. Let me get my stuff out of the room. >> It's kind of hard to put a finger on, but there definitely seems to be some kind of cognitive decline or maybe early onset dementia even. That's barring any alcohol that's on board or illegal drugs. It just seems like something is going on with her. We'll get back to her charges in just a second. But first, the cops were called by a family member who was concerned for her sister's safety. >> How you doing, ma'am? What's going on? >> Um, we're just having a disagreement. >> Okay. How many people are in the house? >> Just my husband and myself. >> Your husband is in there? >> Yes. >> Are there any weapons in there that I should have? >> Yes, I have my wife. >> You can step out here, please. >> No, I don't need to. >> Excuse me. >> I don't need to. I'm asking you to please step out here. Okay. I'm conducting an investigation right now. >> Yeah. You're called because we I was yelling on the >> Hold on a second. Am I being disrespectful to you? >> I know how the game plays, man. >> What game you talking about? I mean, >> I'm not going to get arrested for any [ __ ] because >> Who says you're going to get arrested if >> they don't get it right here? >> Okay. Then nothing happened. Can I see some ID from you and can I see some ID from you? >> Obviously, go get it from asking where it's at. Huh? Already the male party's confrontational. Not a great start. >> Yes, I can get my I can get my Okay. What's going on? This is out of control. But I need to be specific. What kind of out of control? What has he done? >> Did he use it today? >> He's very physically emotionally. >> Did he physically hurt you today? >> He's thrown something at Did he throw something at you today? >> I can't help you. >> You're not being honest. >> Yeah, exactly. But she got to call her. Stop. >> Normally I I have to be close to the doorway. >> What the [ __ ] are you going to do to get the out? >> But I need to know if we have a crime or not. Okay. >> I haven't done anything wrong. >> I want to be further away. dancing. >> I'd probably create a little bit more space. Hearing the husband give his statement to the other cop is a little bit distracting. Seems like it's distracting [music] the female. >> So, you can concentrate. There's plenty of people over there. Come on. >> She's been over the whole time. She'll say things. >> Okay. >> Michelle, tell the tell the officer the truth. Michelle. >> Michelle, you have to tell her the truth this time. >> What do you know, ma'am? Just tell me what you know. He's been physically abusive of their whole entire marriage started uh when they were dating. >> I need to know what happened. I need to I need to know what happened today so I can >> um he he texts me with a text message uh saying, "Oh, she's, you know, stepping out. She's beening this guy for a year. I need you to know." And um I didn't I just ignored it. And then she called me and said, "Hey, I was in the shower. Um I'm assuming you've gotten the text messages from Ron. um um I'm not sure, you know, I need to catch you up on things. I told him I want a divorce. I'm selling our boat. Um you know, there's some stuff we need to talk about. I said, "Okay, that's fine." And I could hear him you [ __ ] you. And then she was like, "Stop. Stop." I heard then he called me back. He hung up. Then he called me back. Um and I could hear him screaming at her and I said, "Ron, you need to calm down." And he's all, "Don't youing tell me to calm down." And I was like, "Okay." Was any >> Was any Is this on FaceTime? >> No, you won't talk on FaceTime. This is all what I've heard >> in my house. >> Do you have access to look at these cameras on your phone? We're going to disconnect so she can see the camera footage and show me. Okay. >> Okay. No worries. Thank you so much. >> All right. You're welcome. >> So, today maybe >> Yeah. I I've got really bad My contacts are really like >> Look, if you don't mind me looking. >> No, you're fine. I like I said I've hardly >> like what time did we receive the call? I'm trying to look at the video cameras. >> So we got it at 3:59. Would you say that it was just prior to that? This is 3:38ish. I think >> you're going to hear cuz that camera will record everything in the house. So you can hear him yelling at me even in >> Okay. The hearing isn't as important as what I'm seeing on a camera. If he hit you or or threw something at you to hit you like an attempt to hit you, then we might have a domestic violence. >> No, that happened living room and there was no cameras in the living room. >> So video footage is nice as evidence of course, but the victim's statement is PC for arrest on a domestic. So not necessarily needed. >> Okay. So something like that did happen. He threw something at you to hit you. >> My my phone. >> So what? >> My phone. >> So he threw your phone >> at me? this phone at you. >> Yeah. >> I don't want I don't want to ruin the flight. I just >> So what what would you like us what how can we help you? If we have a charge, it may not be up to you. It may be up to us, but we need to know from your from your mouth what happened and just summarize it. >> He just wants to continually scream and yell at me, throw everything in my face. Now he's calling my sister and my [music] parents. I was literally I took a shower, sat on the couch, he was taking my phone from me, screaming and yelling, and he was saying that, and I don't want to say this out loud because again, all these all the weapons in the house are mine. Um, he keeps saying he's going to go and hurt him, kill him, and then he then that's when they start getting all the weapons out of the closet and all my stuff. >> He's getting the weapons out today. >> Right now, >> for what? >> Um, because he said that if anyone comes in the house, he's going to light them up. So domestic violence calls are really dangerous for cops and many a police officer has been shot upon arrival to a domestic call. >> Okay. Well, that could be that could be interpreted not as a crime um because of the surrounding statements if he said I'm going to but the conditional part is not going to be considered a crime. He's threatening you. Did he say anything like that? That was direct not conditional. You guys, >> what did he say? >> He said, "If you guys went in the house, that's why I was trying to stop him. If you listen to recordings, >> stop touching the weapons. Knock it off." And he kept saying, "If they come through this door, I'm going to light them up." I've always tried to protect everyone in law enforcement. I'm a good girl. I've never done anything wrong. >> All right. So, stay out here for just a moment so I can get a partner so he can hear us. We can hear it together. Okay. Just stay right here. All right. Tell tell him again about the phone in the arm. >> You know, he grabs my phone and he throws it at me. Um he's done it multiple times. He broke um m go my living room stuff. He's smashed and everything on the floor. You'll see holes in the walls, but again um I don't know what else to tell you. I was just sitting on the couch and trying to make it go away. >> Okay. So, he came over and grabbed your phone today. >> Multiple times. And then what did you say when he grabbed your phone >> to stop? Please don't break it. Please don't break it. >> Okay. >> That's all I have. >> And then once you said, "Please don't break it." What did he do? >> Um, he grabbed it and they uh multiple times and he's he's thrown it at me multiple times, too. >> When you say throw it at you, I I know it's a silly question, but how does he throw it at you? Like I was sitting on the couch with my legs closed just quiet and he just throw his throw it at my arm and um then the next time he took it and he threw it at this arm. >> So did it hit your arm? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Was that Can you point on your arm where it hit your arm? >> Well, this is a different one, but I'm sure this would be another >> So since it wasn't just like hands, it's aggravated assault or could be assault battery with the deadly weapon depending on where you were. It should be more than just simple assault and battery. >> So that police stop the other. The other day, not today, a different day. >> From what though? What happened? >> Um him grabbing me and hurting me. I'm going to file for a divorce. I'm amicable. I just want to split things up and let it go. It means just he's like blessing living hell. >> Okay. Okay. >> I just I just want to get out safe. >> Yeah, >> that's it. I know. And yes, I've had a couple of drinks. I did. >> That's fine. >> When you started texting, there was nothing to it. I never touched anyone else. I've never cheated. I've never done any of that. Yes, it was inappropriate. I get it. But I never did anything wrong. >> Okay, that's that even in If it is inappropriate, it doesn't give anyone right to put their hands on you, right? >> Or hit you with stuff. >> So, what I'm asking is today's incident about him yelling, throwing the phone at you, stuff like that. Would you like to write that down on paper? >> How is that going to work? Do I >> getting a statement from a victim of domestic abuse is different everywhere? I've worked for one district attorney's office that wanted them and then worked for another one that didn't want them. Only wanted the statement taken by police. So, there wasn't two different statements out there. So, it sounds like at this place they want the statement. >> I don't want to ruin his life. He's got to go to work and I just want him to be able to get out safely without the [crying] repercussions. >> Okay. So, >> I don't understand how bad this is for me. >> So, >> it's not easy. >> I got you. I I don't understand. You're right. I've never been in your situation. [snorts] But unfortunately, now that we're here, it's no longer in your hands. It's no longer in his hands. It's in my hands. And if I have enough to make an arrest, I'm making an arrest because it's domestic. He doesn't have a choice. You don't have a choice. Okay? So, all I'm really asking is, would you like to put it on paper? If you don't want to, you don't have to. I'm still going to make my decision based off what I heard today. >> Just stand right here. He They're watching him. So, just stay right here. You'll be safe. Okay. >> There he goes. >> Hope you're happy. This is what you wanted, right? What the reason you dropped me? >> Can I do what? Don't ever. >> You know what? I didn't do anything. >> What? I didn't do anything. >> What's domestic I do? >> You're in custody. You have the right to remain silent. You understand his rights. >> Oh, abbreviated Miranda there. >> I pull my shirt. Hold on. Let me pull my shirt. All right. Take a step back. giving him a good surge, especially with all that gun talk. The abusive husband was charged with simple battery, assault, and criminal mischief, but I wasn't able to find out any more information about his sentencing. The woman was charged with violating a court order, but once again, since it's the same county as the other case, I was unable to find any more details of her sentencing.
