Domestic arrest can be some of the scariest and saddest things that we deal with. >> Why me? >> We got told that you were beating on your wife. >> I've learned a lot in this marriage. >> This group of boaters try to help officers take down this woman's aggressive husband. >> He was 200 plus pounds dropping 12 to 9 elbows in her head. >> What is your name? >> Hey! >> Then this woman disturbs the entire neighborhood while she's arguing with her ex. >> This is a serious situation. >> Is it serious? >> Yes. >> Every single >> domestic violence. >> Yeah, it's a it's definitely crap show. >> But first boaters on the river say they witnessed this man hitting his wife. Officers are responding and now have to make an arrest on the water which is always dicey. >> Three multiple subjects in altercation with um one subject trying to get the female off the boat. It's been advised to them to disengage our law enforcement is on scene. However, they're not listening and they're stating that they need to get the lady the female subject say that he keeps attacking her. >> So it sounds like they have some good Samaritans helping out which can be great and it can also be bad. We don't know. And as an officer on the way to this I would be thinking it's on a boat, do I have a PFD with me, something because when you're wearing all that gear you go right to the bottom if you fall off. So those would be my considerations. Out on the river. >> Is there somebody out here on a boat? >> What? >> Is there somebody out here on a boat? >> It's a campsite or something. >> I hear airboat. >> Come here. Come here. Come here. >> We can walk there. >> Come on my boat. >> See down there. >> This guy's probably sweating his butt off. >> Is that them on the boat right there? Pete, you want to get on the boat to go over there? >> Ella, >> [snorts] >> Ella will get on. They'll get on. >> It's >> all lining up, they need a boat now and >> [music] >> Ready on the gun. >> This guy right here is an off-duty sheriff. Perfect. Give me a ride. >> No keys. >> I got you, ma'am. You can Lady, grab this lady. I'll get her. I got you guys right here. Hey, buddy. What's going on? >> What the >> Excuse me? >> Oh. >> I'm happy to see you. Why are we here? We got told that you were beating on your wife. What's going on? >> Seriously. >> Okay, I understand. >> Seems like he might have had one or two cocktails, max. >> He didn't? >> Okay. You have video of it? Okay. Okay. Are you okay? >> Oh, poor woman. Thank goodness for these guys. >> Bro, listen to >> It's going to get dicey. He's got him locked. Ooh. Time to go to sleep. So, that's a chokehold. A lot of states, including mine, we can no longer do those for any reason at all. Even where I work, in Massachusetts, you can't even do them, really, if your life's in danger. So, it's kind of unsettled in court, but as of right now, totally banned. >> Now, he ain't going over. He ain't going over. I got his leg. >> Oh my god, this is going to be >> Got one. >> I got to double cuff him just just because it's easier. >> Give me your hand. >> Now he's down. >> There you go. >> Hey, give me a set of cuffs. Give me a set of cuffs. >> Hey, bend his legs and come up. >> Yeah, it's just easier if they're longer. He's not going to cooperate. Also, you could probably charge him with boating under the influence. I don't know actually don't know if every state has that, but where I work there is such a thing as BUI under chapter 90B, so that's a possibility. He's just going limp here. He's indignant. This part is Oh my gosh, this part is sketchy. I mean, the guy's allegedly done wrong, probably clearly did do wrong here. We have witnesses, but now they're dragging him onto another boat. If he went in the water handcuffed behind his back, I just have a feeling this guy's not going to pass the uh Navy SEAL drown proofing test and would die. >> Trying to keep the boat here so we don't flip him in the water. >> Ooh. >> Man, that's worse than a bass. >> You're slip more slippery than a bass, boy. >> Help his head. >> I'm just standing here watching. >> That's good. Right there. Transport him like that. >> [laughter] >> He is like a fish. >> [groaning] >> Oh, yeah. That That has got to hurt. >> You guys are lying on the cops. Lover, I'm suing you. >> Now, he's going to sue you. >> have a [ __ ] boss, you [ __ ] piece of [ __ ] Lover, I'm suing you. You [ __ ] piece of [ __ ] >> Okay. Kind of reminds me of the Easter Island thing from Night at the Museum. >> You new dum dum, you give me gum gum. [clears throat] >> Gum gum for my dum dum, something like that. Kind of reminds me of that. >> I'm going to sue you. >> Woah. >> I'm going to sue you. >> Catching more charges. I guarantee you down there, it's a felony. >> I'm going to sue you. >> Fun fact, in Massachusetts, assault and battery on a police officer is a misdemeanor. >> I'm going to sue you. You [ __ ] bum. I'm going to sue you. I'm a disabled I'm going to put Zack Clark on the call and throw all of this in a boat. >> I see your faces, you [ __ ] piece of [ __ ] >> Oh, boy. >> [clears throat] >> I see your [ __ ] face. >> He is tanked. >> I'm going to sue you. I'm going to sue you. I am going to sue you. I am going to sue you. >> 117 >> Got it. >> I see you. >> Thank you. >> I'm going to sue you. >> Shut your [ __ ] mouth, piece of >> Yeah, you. >> [laughter] >> I'm a disabled >> Hey, me. Me, [ __ ] >> Yeah, I'm going to sue >> I'm going to knock you out. >> I'm going to sue you. You You don't know how to That's my [ __ ] wife. >> Yep. >> I've been with >> Wife's our property, [ __ ] >> Sucker. >> True. Can't beat your wife, sir. >> Me and my wife, we've been We've been happily married for years. >> Maybe we should ask her that question cuz I imagined if you're just openly beating your wife in public, what goes on behind closed doors is probably terrifying. >> I am going to sue you guys. I'm going to sue you good. >> I've never heard that. No one ever says that. You're the first. >> [cough] >> You hear me? >> I hear you. My name is Deputy Morales with the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office. You're under arrest at this time. >> He's agreeing. That's good. >> Now, you have two choices, okay? You can walk peacefully or we're going to have to drag you, okay? It's just easier if you walk. >> He ain't going to walk. >> If you don't walk, you're going to get another charge, I'm sure. >> He's going dead weight, I'm sure. >> Hook him up. Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Step out. Don't make us make you get out. >> He's going to make you. He's going to make you make him. >> Got to drag him. >> Ooh, splinters. >> Idiot. >> Oh. Oh my gosh. Breathing. It sounds like agonal breathing. Like when you go to a call and someone's like actively dying, their body shutting down, they have this thing called agonal breathing. Sounds just like this. >> [sighs] >> You going to walk or do we got to drag you? >> There it is [snorts] again. >> to walk or do we have to drag you? I can pull up the vehicle closer. >> All I would be thinking about is getting this done with, going to my cruiser, taking my vest off, and having the AC blast on my undershirt cuz I know these guys are super sweaty. >> Sit up for a minute. Sit up. >> I know. They're not the ones that walked away. >> They're hurting me. >> They're not hurting you. >> They body slammed me. >> The witnesses are great. They're just witnesses everywhere here. >> They body slammed me. >> Hey, don't even look at her. >> They body slammed me. They're hurting me. >> Hey, who has the video? >> I got it. >> Can you send it to my phone? >> Yes. >> Get that video. Definitely get that video cuz I don't think they even talked to the victim yet. They're just kind of taking it on the word of these witnesses that they have a video of him beating her. I mean, I know it was exigent circumstance and a crazy situation, but definitely secure that video and get some statements. >> They body slammed >> I'm going to walk her up. Okay, come on with me. Thank you, guys. You're fine. I'm just going to hold on to you so you don't fall, okay? >> Poor woman. >> I'm not going to let you fall. >> Hopefully she follows through and gets a restraining order and everything else. >> holding you to make sure you don't fall and I'll pull you up, okay? >> Come on. Now listen, I'm fixing to stand you up. Hey. Listen to what he's saying. I'm fixing to stand you up. >> I'm fixing to love it. Oh, the southern accent. >> But today ain't going to be like you want it. I'm a disabled vet. I'm a disabled >> It's a little bit too late to grab some credibility from that. >> Sir, I want your name. >> I got you. >> I want your name. >> Look at these good Samaritans. I got hat goes off to them. It's awesome. This goes to show you as a village, we all agree on some things and one of them is abusing your spouse, hitting your wife. These guys chimed right in, diffuse the situation, waited for the police. It's perfect. It's the way it should be. >> I want to know his name. >> I have a >> My name is Mr. Nick sitting down there. >> I didn't know. >> Hey! >> Ooh. >> Hey! >> What's your name? I want to know. >> Kicking again. >> Yes. Don't keep kicking him so >> I want to know what his name is. Tell me your name. >> I already told you my name is dumbass. >> I want to know your name. Tell me. >> Slow Joe from Kokomo. >> Tell me your real name. Tell me your real name. >> He's trying to grasp back [music] some power in the situation. I'm I'm going to issue commands and you're going to respond because I do have some power left. You have to do what I'm saying. That's the vibe. >> You quit [ __ ] yourself. You might be a grown man. >> Sounds like somebody took a doo-doo in their underpants. That's embarrassing. >> You better watch your mouth. I didn't say anything to you. You better watch your thing to me. What? Tell me. >> [laughter] >> No, tell me. >> What's going on with him now? >> Kicking. >> What's going on? Is he a like like a sack of potatoes? >> Chappelle. >> That's my boy, Dave Chappelle. >> Chappelle sounds like a doctor. >> Dave Chappelle sounds like a doctor of comedy perhaps. >> Can you buy our big boy? >> Get your big pad. Can you get everybody's name here who witnessed what, who helped us carry, all that stuff? Get EMD EMS's information. >> Yeah. >> We need to get her wallet so we can get this information right here. Right here. It'll be on paper. >> I want everything. >> First things first. Me first. >> You know, there's plenty of rope on that boat. Why not an impromptu hobble? >> I like to bind. I like to be bound. I got >> You know, that would have been fun. Come on, guys. Next time. >> He's all right. He's all right. Do you need a favor? Can you hold this stick right here for a second? >> Yeah. >> He just needs to get all your information. And >> I'd be high-fiving those guys, hugging them. >> I know you. I know you. >> Yes, sir. >> What do you got? >> We're going to get him We'll hit him with We'll hit him with a battery again. >> Don't worry about me, man. >> Four deputies is trying to the day off on the river. >> I got I got my legs back in. I'm good. >> We're going to see if we can get her information properly. >> We're going to see if we know who you are. >> It's all very sweet. These people All these men come together to protect this older lady. >> That's what I >> I'm sure she's okay. I like it. >> You're welcome. >> Here, hold on to this for 1 second. Did anybody else here get hit or kicked by him that wants to press some charges? >> Yeah, right here. He was with me. >> Form a line. >> Yes, sir. And he pulled something on me. I don't know if it was a knife or what it was. I tried to originally grab him. >> Oh. >> It's in his boat. Uh, but he originally pulled something on me. >> Okay. >> Are you the owner of the property here? >> All right. Sorry we had to drive on there. Just want to make sure it was okay that one we're on there. >> He's got a big smile on his face. Yeah, I think he enjoyed the action. >> I have my vehicle parked there for obvious reasons. Trying to drag him down the thing there. >> Oh, yeah. >> Um >> We just >> No problem. Mind if I get your information real quick? >> Sure. >> What's your first name? >> Again, I apologize. I was going to call the office. Just in a dang hurry. >> Yeah, of course. Yeah, we just had no idea what was happening. >> Oh, that's all right. Uh, I'm pretty sure Did you figure it out or >> We we put pieces together. >> Yes, sir. >> Sorry we got on your property, but we needed to find a >> We needed a way to get off the water. >> And you are? >> Deputy Allen. >> Allen. >> Yes, ma'am. If you'd like a card, I can get my name and number on it if you need. >> And the police can do that. You can go through private property if it's within your performance of your duties. They don't need permission. He's just being very very polite and cordial. >> Thank you, brother. >> Thank y'all so much. Appreciate your help, brother. >> Good job, fellas. After the incident, Shawn and Hunter did an interview with a local news station. Here's what they had to say. >> She might have been 80 lbs. He was 200 plus pounds dropping 12 and 9 elbows on her head. >> Wow. That's nuts. >> Than that poor lady. >> Wrong county, wrong people. That's You pick the wrong >> Heck yeah. >> that cuz we don't put up with that. >> I like it. >> Not going to happen here. >> I wanted to make sure she took no more blows. And whether that involved me taking shots. Whatever he wanted to do. >> Good dudes. We'll get back to his charges in just a moment, but first officers respond to a dispute between ex-husband and wife that turned violent. >> You called? >> Yes. >> Give me a second. >> Yeah. >> They're in and out. >> I just need my daughter's booster seat back because he doesn't have it. We've got mutual restraining orders. The FBI is involved because he cloned >> Dispatch has been updated. >> about a month ago. We're we're separated and then was able to >> What? >> all of our information down from the cloud. >> Were you talking with dispatch just now? >> Yeah. And then also this he's beat me twice. So, please know that. >> You made contact with them already? >> Yes. Trying to get our daughter's car seat. >> And >> So, not super uncommon for someone just to like offload all these transgressions over the last 5 years in this one situation where the cops are showing up and trying to figure out what's going on right now. What are we dealing with in the moment? All that other stuff, you could talk about it later. You could file charges on that later. You could give statements, investigate that later, but right now we have to deal with what's going on in the moment. >> Do you both have protection orders against each other? >> Dispatch has been updated. >> mutual restraining orders, but he canceled our car my car insurance. I got into a car accident. I mean, I just want my daughter's car seat. >> So, that can be a violation of a restraining order, canceling your ex-spouse's or soon-to-be ex-spouse's insurances or not paying the bills you're supposed to pay. So, that could be a violation. Sounds like they each have a restraining order on each other. Okay. >> That's it. He says he doesn't have it, but that's a problem because there's a restraining order don't dispose of anything. >> So, question. You said he punched you. >> I didn't I said he punched me. He swung on me. And like I I thankfully I ducked, but I tried to defend myself. So, he's got video of that. He'll probably say that I >> Did he put hands on you at all? >> Yes. >> Okay. What happened? >> He opened the door and I said because I took because I took his door ornament off to get his attention. Like, "Hey, I just need the car seat. I just want the car seat." He opened the door, said, "Get off my property." I said, "Just give me her car seat. You know we were in an accident." He He's It's like I heard him laughing on the phone like when he found out that we were my daughter our daughter and I were T-boned. And this was after he canceled our car insurance. And I didn't even know about it. So, then I stepped into his house. I knocked over a tree cuz he's decorated for Christmas. >> So, so far it sounds like she went to his house, went into it, and then damaged his property. It's not looking great or it's not looking how she thinks it looks. >> He swung on me, and then I tried I think I tried to like grab his phone out of his hand and swat his phone out of his hand. It's It's all went so fast. >> Okay. So, >> her car seat. I just want her booster >> Swatting his phone out of his hand. As he >> He's probably He's intoxicated. So, but I Yeah. >> Law enforcement-wise, does he Does he not get along with the police or something? >> Um white male, you know. Don't most white males get along with the police? >> Who knows? >> Unless >> Oh, wow. Just has to throw a little jab in there to the police when they're there to help you. I'm not a fan of that. >> I'm Puerto Rican, so I don't know. >> Oh, yeah. But I Yeah. I just want her I just want her booster seat. >> Okay. So, I got a few want to just hang here. I have a another deputy coming so he can >> I think he's too drunk or high right now to even do anything. And he keeps the guns unless like away. But >> So, that is interesting. There's restraining orders, but he still has [music] his guns. In the state I work in, part of the restraining order is getting your guns removed from your possession. It's not like that all over the country. I think it is a federal law that the guns are supposed to be taken, but not all states do it or not all states direct their judges to just automatically do it. >> 39 miles out. They're arguing in the roadway. I'm trying to separate them. >> Well, look. I didn't I'm like I'm not on your property. >> Just hey, just for now. Get in your car. >> And? >> Can you >> Yes. >> Get back in the car and then >> You called the police. Let them do their thing. >> See you, you [ __ ] >> to him about that here in a minute. Just Yep, separate. Separate. If you want to get back in the house, just hang around in the at doorway, okay? I'll be there to talk to you in a minute. Let's not cause more issues cuz it's going to We're in public, okay? Just calm down. Get back in the car. We'll talk in a minute. Just Can you please get back in the car? No, we were separated. We'll roll down the window. Come on. >> [laughter] >> Work with me here. I just want you guys separated for now. I don't want We're totally separated. >> Good. How about yourself? >> So, I came to get my daughter's our daughter's car seat from my husband's house. The other person that hit us completely demolished my car. He totaled my car with our 9-year-old in the car. When I called Progressive to file the claim, they said that he had canceled our car insurance. >> Okay. >> It's a problem. And he says, "Kelly, come on, please." And I said, "So, I will see you, you know, later in the week, whatever." And he opens the Or no, so I take the ornament to his door and I said, "David, if I take this, you're going to want it back." >> So, she starts right away. She takes it beyond conversational to actually doing physical things. Seems like she's kind of escalating the whole thing. >> And then he swings Wait. So, he comes outside to pick it up. And then he pushes me. I'm trying to remember. He pushes me. I grab his phone. And then like trying to swat it out of his hand because he wanted to record, which I guess is fine. I don't care. >> You can't do that either. >> his hand. And then I get into the front door. And then he's pushing me. And then I swat >> Like cuz you're trying to enter his house. Now you're destroying his property. >> I'm calling the police. I said, "I don't care. I just want her car seat." >> You doing good? Can I come and talk to you? Look, it's blacked out cuz it's a private residence. Some agencies do that. >> I look outside and it's her. So, we were going through a divorce. She was becoming unhinged. She hit me. >> And so she said you had video of it. >> I do have it. >> Excellent. You have video of it? >> She forced her way into my house. So, let me finish that. I don't care what she said. >> One second. >> She just left She left the vehicle and took off. Look here. >> Oh boy, now she's taken off. She probably realizes that there's going to be a investigation here. They're going to get his story and she might be feeling like, "They might pick me being at fault. Let me get out of here." >> I don't care what she said. But I'm at my house watching TV. She showed up to my house. There's a mutual restraining order. You can look this up. There's all kinds of DV CPOs out there between her and I. It's like the cat and mouse game like that there. Okay? There's plenty of history. You see the reports. Nothing ever happened to me. Nothing ever happened to her. >> Not that uncommon. Couples going through a bad divorce, especially when both sides realize they can try to weaponize the system against each other. They just start filing reports against each other. They start trying to get orders. They start calling child protective services against each other, and it becomes a huge mess, and it's really hard to determine who's the aggressor, who's the one at fault. It makes it very muddy. >> I'm laying down watching TV. She comes outside my door asking me about a car seat. Then she starts asking me about why did you cut off the car insurance and why did you cut off the cell phone. There's a mutual restraining order. You can't do that. >> Look. >> That part's true. >> She came to my house. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that. >> You may have placed it. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Sounds like he did do that. >> I know what part's true. I I've been through hell with this woman. She just took off from the scene of the >> Don't doubt it. >> And she hit me. And you're coming at me with that part's true? >> No, no, no, no. I'm just wondering everything. I I see the bigger picture here. >> She came to my house. >> I'm sorry about >> Males can be a victim of domestic violence, too. She came to my house and hit me. >> But now we have a 50/50 allegation. >> I don't I just got here. >> So this guy's got to realize when the cops show up, we don't have the back story. It's like we're you know, we're supposed to show up and in 5 minutes solve your problems from the last 10 years with your wife. It's not going to happen. We have to investigate this incident fairly from both sides. Now obviously the guy's probably a little emotional, and he's not really getting it. >> She's on my property. >> Right, but >> time she comes to my house, she won't make it out if she does this. >> I get it. >> Nothing ever happens to him. Nothing ever happens to him. He's a piece of Nothing ever happened to him. I hate it. >> Hey, uh right now >> What? >> I need I need you to stay with me. >> Why? >> Because you just >> Definitely not free to leave at this point. >> Because nothing ever happens to him. >> Okay, but you you called the cops. >> Nothing ever happens to him. >> then you take off. >> Nothing ever happens to him. >> what I'm going to do. >> Nothing ever happens to him. Nothing. >> Okay. >> Nothing. Nobody ever does anything. >> I just got here, and I'm trying going everything out, and you left the scene, and now we got we got everybody looking for you. >> Oh, I'm I came back. >> Okay, where did you go? >> I went down the street and then I said, "Nope, I probably am needed there because nothing ever happens to him." >> I don't know. You don't need to discuss that with her. >> Nothing ever happens to >> Yeah, give this guy some help. >> Nothing ever happens to him and I thought, "Why should I spin my wheels?" Wait, wait, you asked me a question. >> Okay. Okay. This is what I'm going to do. Nope, no you're not leaving. >> Why? >> Because you're being erratic and >> No. >> And you're being investigated for a crime, so >> the scene when we're trying to deal with something. >> Because it's not worth my time anymore. I I just >> Well, it is because we're now we're now here and this is a serious situation. >> Is it serious? >> Yes. >> Because it's it's every single time >> domestic violence. >> Thank you. Sorry about that. >> All right, let's continue this conversation. >> Yeah, that was the end of it, but she's saying I hit her. That's not the case. I didn't put my hands on her. Please pull my neighbor's video footage to show what happened. >> Do you have Do you know your neighbor's names? >> I don't, but we can knock on the door. >> Everybody's got cameras there. At least a ring. >> This one with the lights or the I mean this one's a direct shot. And that one they have with the lights. I mean there's one that's pretty wide angle, but you can see it right there. He's the one that came and told me that she went up and down my block telling my neighbors that I was going to and kidnap their kids. I just moved into my neighborhood. >> She's bringing the warfare to another level. You're new to the neighborhood and she is going to go around and tell your neighbors that you're some kind of pederast or some kind of predator. Rough. >> You guys don't have kids together. You have kids together, right? Okay. >> That's why she said your kids don't live with you. Yes, because the day she filed her fake ass CPO after she found out I bought this house because she was on drugs. I had to escape with my two children because it was the only way to >> So you have your own kids together? >> Yes. I've learned a lot in this marriage. How do you say about how calculating people can be? >> Sad. Always sad to see a marriage fall apart. >> Go and apologize to these people for causing this kind of strife. >> Hello, hello. >> Well, shut up. >> So, >> [laughter] >> came up with a >> Um, poor neighbors. >> Okay. >> without you having to email it. If it would be okay, um, we can record with our body cameras. >> Okay. I think they're just talking normal right now. >> Yeah. He took his body cam off there to record. >> I paused. >> Okay. >> Can you unpause that? I appreciate it. >> Hello, sir. Sorry to bother you. I was just wondering, does your any of your cameras capture that house at all? >> Yeah. >> Would you be able to review them in the last about hour or so? We had an incident across the street. >> This is not the impression you want to make when you move to a neighborhood. Yikes. >> She's going up and down the street like telling everybody she found outside of his She says I scared her. She's surprised that >> Yeah, she's just being difficult. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, it's uh it's definitely a crap show. Appreciate your time, brother. >> Yeah, no problem. >> Then, you know what? >> Bring it down here. Bring it down here. >> Cuz you know what? I have been in this marriage for 4 and 1/2 years. >> I'm going I'm going to detain you. I'm going to detain you. >> Why are you detaining me? >> I'm going because you're at a >> No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Why? >> Put your hands behind your back. I'm going to detain you. >> For what? >> until we deal with this whole situation. Yes. Yes. >> Why are you detaining me? >> Because I need you to understand. Ask Grab it. Hands behind your back. >> I would just say, I'm detaining you cuz we're investigating a crime. Put your hands behind your back. That's it. She's not taking it in. She's not understanding why he's doing this at all. I I don't know if saying that more directly would even help, but that's what I would do. >> Can I go to my car? >> No, you're staying right here. >> Okay, right. And he's putting >> I need you to stop resisting. >> resisting. >> You're pulling away from me. That's the definition of resisting. >> Yeah. >> Calm down. >> I am calm. >> You're not. You're pulling away from me. >> Hi, David. >> Don't pull away from me. >> pulling away from you. >> Yes, you are. >> I'm not. I'm walking. >> going to let me cuff you? >> No, you don't need to >> Then that's resisting, okay? >> I said you don't need to >> I'm going to hold you right here until everybody arrives then. >> It's like he's trying to be in charge still. >> My hands are behind my back. >> Okay, let me cuff you. >> Why? >> So I can detain you. >> Why are you detaining >> Because you're you're not listening. >> I am listening. Why are you detaining me if I'm listening to you? Why are you detaining me if I'm listening to you? Hi. >> Hello. >> I need you. >> Hello. >> Look, he's the one that hit me. Why are you detaining me? >> For your life. >> Why are you detaining me? >> For now. >> Why are you detaining me?
