new video shows the emergency response
and triage of a parachuter after a crash
landing into a golf course in eden
prairie minnesota this summer the
incident includes eyewitness statements
of the sky diver's actions leading up to
the crash including cell phone video of
the final moment incredibly and
thankfully the parachuter survived the
fall but with serious injuries the video
is posted to promote education and
information regarding the response to
these rare incidents watches the medical
teams communicate vital information
triage the survivor while managing his
extreme pain portions of this video have
been edited or redacted to protect the
identity of the crash survivor data on
skydiving incidents shows dramatic
declines in crashes over the last
several decades but 40 percent of
crashes last year were caused by a
turning related incident while in flight

yeah you kind of just tell me what
happened
so what happened is he was coming into
land and he got caught turned in an
angle where his parachute was altitude
when he came in he left the flare
smacked in hard just hit hard
he came like a couple feet all the marks
yeah that's where he that's kind of came
in his roll yeah
yeah yeah they always think that a
plane's going down or something
the big thing is he's
alive and he's
you know yeah you know the smoke and
that's small okay so that's what they're
seeing yeah
this was video of it yeah
that's what you guys do i would never
jump out of a perfectly good plane like
you said it was nothing that he could
have done
it's a part of part of part of jumping
right yeah comes with it so
about how high up was he
when one won the
shoot
when he flash drives yeah
it was on that final it was right after
you saw the video when he turned he came
in and that's when he lost
he was probably about somewhere about
150 feet coming down and then
but so here's the thing like
he's still holding him up yeah came down
hard
if he had lost all drive
i mean when i got here i was just like
well there's a higher level of care so
yeah other he's he's their medic their
lead medic
but he's just like i'll do whatever i
can to make sure they don't find out
that you're up here it's like she broke
a femur like he's how are they how's he
gonna explain that he's gonna pay for it
i thought they're just gonna go forward
but
especially with the
what's that
oh uh is there a way that you don't do a
report it's policy we have to be
reported fair enough now if people are
aware that hey this happened and that
there was a report made then they can
it's public information you know right
now here's the problem that we're trying
to avoid he's active duty and his
command doesn't know he's here so we're
trying to keep that as shut up as
possible yeah so
basically
information requests if
if he
finds a report it's because he knows
that he was here already
