>> Yeah.
>> Who's the driver? Female or male?
>> Wolfist man.
>> What?
>> Wolf man.
>> Okay. Is he black or white?
>> Black.
>> Black guy. How tall?
>> My tall
white.
>> Y black. Black male. Bravo. Mike.
>> Uh my got a baby. Listen, Joseph. Long
hair, short hair.
>> Uh, one got long hair a little bit like
my curly. The other one in there.
>> So, two black males?
>> Yeah. One is skinny and one fat boy.
>> What kind of GMC? A truck or
>> truck? Pickup truck. Four doors.
>> Four.
>> Two Bravo mics. One short, one skinny,
one fat. Uh, one has long hair, one has
short hair.
>> You got him.
>> You see that office over there?
Is that all I was doing?
>> Oh, can we use it? An office.
>> Any office.

>> Yeah. Is that how you say your name?
Okay. Why? Why are we here today?
>> No reason.
>> No reason
>> to make money.
>> You're here to make money.
>> Uh I'm not lying to you. I'm I'm
homeless. I got like two weeks homeless
in the street right now. I tried that. I
just met these dudes. He got machine and
stuff, you know, with this [ __ ] in the
car, you know.
>> Okay.
>> You make Where did you meet these guys
at?
>> In the street.
>> In the street.
>> Yeah. Where are you? Where are you
originally from?
>> Um Dubai.
>> Dubai.
>> Yeah.
>> Where are you where do you lay your head
at? Are you from Orlando or are you from
Orlando?
>> Orlando
>> for now.
>> Okay. So, where did you meet these guys
at?
>> Uh you come and help a homeless people
want to work some stuff blah blah blah.
I give you half
>> if you check you cash this check, I give
you half 10% or something like that. You
know check once in a while.
>> Okay. So they gave you the
they gave you this check right here.
>> Yeah.
>> And did you put your name in?
>> He got machine and everything in the
car.
>> He has a machine in the car. Where where
did he drop you off at?
>> Uh he dropped me off really far away.
When I see him in the camera
>> far away so you can't be seen in the
camera.
>> Yeah, like up the street two block away.
>> Is that the first one you've cashed?
Huh?
>> Is that the first check?
>> You haven't cashed any yet?
>> Well, he's the person that we would need
a statement from cuz he's
>> just
>> called,
>> huh?
>> This is hard.
>> Let me Let me explain something to you.
I've been investigating fraud for 15
years. Okay. I'm on the Secret Service
task force. I have busted up the rings
that come over and they abuse you guys,
the homeless people over there by the
shelter. Is that where you were picked
up?
>> No.
>> Where were you picked up? Uh, Colonial
Street.
>> Colonial. Colonial what?
>> Weston. Weston Street.
>> Yeah.
>> West Morland. Colonial West Morland by
the 7-Eleven. Okay. They just approached
you and said that you cashed this, we'll
give you half or were you going to
actually do any work?
>> 10%. So, you were going to get 40 whole
dollars or 400 bucks. What were you
going to get?
>> 400.
>> Okay.
>> Did you watch him make this?
>> No.
>> You said he makes them in his car. Yeah,
but I I see he got the machine yesterday
in the car.
>> So you were with him yesterday. Where
did you go yesterday?
>> Chase.
>> So you cashed another check yesterday.
>> Which Chase bank did you go to
yesterday?
>> Okay. So why would you lie to me when we
obviously know you've cashed another
check?
How much did you get yesterday?
>> 400.
>> Okay. Was it the Chase Bank over off of
Orange Avenue? Was it this Chase Bank or
was it a Chase Bank downtown?
>> It's a Chase Bank.
>> Okay. What does he have in his car as
far as this the equipment?
>> A printer. A scanner. What does he got?
>> Printer.
>> A printer. So then he just takes that,
prints that out, and puts your name. You
give him his the ID and
>> he sends you in. How many checks? Be
honest. How many checks have you done?
>> This the second one.
>> Okay. Was the first one for the same
amount?
Okay. You understand that you're at
grand theft? You're a felony.
>> At least I'll be honest.
>> Well, I'm glad you're being honest. But
what do you know this guy by? What do
you call him?
>> I'm in the street. You know, everybody
want to see why. Everybody want to eat.
>> I get that. What do you call the guy? I
don't listen. You are down here. That's
the thing. You have to understand that.
The guy up here in the check.
>> My my name is clean. I don't got
problem.
Look at my name
>> like maybe like
>> this is a open bank open bank.
>> I got Chase Bank. I just opened it
yesterday.
>> Did you open the account yesterday?
>> I look like they cash checked it.
>> Did you find the other one?
>> You know I'm a kid. You look my name in
the system uniform plane.
>> No, I know you're I know you don't have
a criminal history.
>> How long have you been here?
>> Orlando like one year I'll be working.
>> Where have you been working at?
>> Walmart.
>> Okay. So Walmart of West Morland all the
way up north.
>> Yeah. Is that where you got this card
from, too?
>> Yeah.
>> This is my my child.
>> That's your This is your card.
>> Yeah.
>> So, I get it. You're just what? Hungry.
You want a place to stay?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. So, my question to you is where
did he say he was going when he dropped
you off?
>> You never tell me where is he going?
>> He doesn't I I know he's around. He
waiting for me.
>> Well, I'm sure I'm sure he's watching
right now that there's, you know, five
cop cars out there.
So, what do you call him? Do you call
him, you know, I mean, does he go by
nickname?
>> Jip.
>> Jip. Jip. Or Jit or Jeb or
>> Jip.
>> Jip.
>> Ji.
>> Yeah. Jip.
>> No. J I P or J I
>> J
>> with a P.
>> J. Yeah. J. J.
>> Oh, G.
>> Yeah. Jip.
>> Okay.
>> How long ago did you meet him?
Two days ago.
>> So you met him two days ago and you
immediately went and did check with him?
>> Yeah. On Colon Street in a bus bus
station.
>> Okay. You Oh, you met him at the bus
station?
>> Yeah. Hey, you hungry? You say you see
me like I'm thirsty or something? It's
hot as [ __ ] Hey, you hungry. Want some
food? Blah blah blah. Come on, bro. I
got you.
>> Okay.
>> So, yesterday after you cashed it, he
left. Did you call him to come pick you
up that it was done?
>> No. He was watching and just came back.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. But he gave you his number and
your phone.
>> Is that a Yes.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> This is Officer Joel with the Orlando
Police Department.
>> Orlando Police Department. Okay.
>> Yes, sir. So, um were you made aware
about the whole um the fraudulent check
and all that?
>> Yes, they called it.
>> Okay. So, can you tell me a little bit
more about that check? You had that
check and then you put a a you try to
cancel it, right?
I actually have a copy. I before I
mailed it, I actually took a picture
exactly who I made it out to. So, I made
it out to a lumber yard.
>> I'm sorry. You made it out to what?
>> A lumber yard.
>> A lumber yard.
>> Yeah. I'm a builder. So, I made it out
to a lumber yard. They went got rid of
the name that I made it out to and they
put their own personal name. They put
Yousef. Yousef, their own personal name.
>> Okay. Yeah, that's that's the one we
have. What's the name of the
>> So, what's the name of the lumber yard?
>> I going to give you the exact
I give you the exact name right now.
>> And and you guys are out of New York.
>> Yeah, I'm all out of New York. It was
made out to
>> How did he did he mail it?
>> And were you trying to mail it to them
or
>> the mail? I have I have the envelope and
everything. I got a picture of
everything. The envelope, the address,
everything.
>> Okay. Where where uh Southwest the
systems? Where where are they located
at?
>> They're in They're in Fort Myers,
Florida.
>> Fort Myers, Florida. Okay.
>> And did they they never just Are they
saying they never retrieved or received
the check?
>> They said they never received it.
>> They know about when he mailed it.
>> Uh when do you remember the date uh when
you mailed it to them?
>> I mailed it on 78 July 8th.
>> And you they said they never received
it,
>> right?
>> And that's when you said uh um you can't
you canceled it and all that? I canceled
it like 3 days ago. 4 days ago.
>> Okay. Do you remember Do you remember
the exact amount that was supposed to be
on it?
>> $44.99.
[Music]
>> $44.99.
>> Say that we have the gentleman in
custody.
>> Okay. So, we the person that was trying
to cash the check and we have him in
custody and all that. Um,
>> we have charges already, but does he
want to press charges for him? So, we we
already have him on a couple things for
on ourselves, but we need to know if you
want to press charges for him trying to
>> use your check.
>> Is it Is it a gang?
>> No, we we don't know.
>> We We have no idea.
>> We have no idea. No, I don't want to
press charges, but I wanted
You said you already got him on other
things.
>> Here's the thing. I'm sorry. I'm another
officer that's on scene. He we have
additional charges for like trying to
defraud the bank, but this all stems
from your check. He is
more or less somebody put him up to this
and they are going to keep doing it.
So basically what people do is they find
willing participants, usually homeless
people. They say, "Hey, we got this
check. if you try to cash it and are
successful, we'll give you a percentage
of it. And that's what he tried.
>> It is a
>> So essentially, it's a ring. And they he
did it once prior, and I'm not even
sure. We thought it might have been
another check of yours, but since you
only mailed one, it's probably another
person's check. What I'm thinking is
that they opened up some mail, got
lucky, washed your check, found this guy
who was willing to cash it in hopes of
getting money, and then was obviously
boarded because you had put a stop
payment on it. So,
>> he's going to go to jail regardless.
However, it does help if you are willing
to press charges for him essentially
trying to steal your money. He knows
it's no good.
>> I'm I'm from Long Island, New York. We
have a very large I mean, I'm not
telling you nothing. You don't know. We
have a very large presence of MS-13
here. And the the crime here is a little
bit out of control. And historically,
people don't press charges because
they're un alive and weak.
>> Oh, no. This isn't MS-13. This is some
home This is some homeless man who is
approached by two males in a truck. And
you know this is a pretty common
like scheme here where people will come
into people's you know information and
obviously stolen and then they'll find
some poor suckers usually homeless that
really don't have you know I mean he
knows it's no good. He he's still a bad
person you know don't don't write him
off. He he knows that check is bogus and
he was willing to cash it, you know, and
take your money.
>> When you look at the when you look at
the check, could you tell that it was
altered and and it was my what I wrote
was taken out and he
>> 100%. Yes. It's very obvious.
>> Okay.
>> So, you put him in jail or not,
everything still goes on.
>> Yes. No. If
>> it's just
>> if you don't Yeah. It's just helpful on
your end. But if you don't press
charges, you still want to jail today.
>> Yeah. No, I'm I don't want to press
charges. I I don't I don't want to
change that.
>> Okay. So, that's fine. Can I get an
email address from you? And then
obviously we're going to email a uh a
swarm written statement to you. you're
going to have to uh if you can just
write that out for us and then um
obviously there's going to be a an area
where it says you do not want to
prosecute or anything like that, but you
do need to get a notorized from
somebody.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I got to go to the bank.
That's not
>> okay. So, can we get an email address
from you?
>> Yeah, sure.
>> Those are the two options. So that check
was a deposit
>> from that business and it never made it
to its final destination. So they canled
it. So somebody maybe took it out of
mail and washed it
>> mail or Yeah. Dropbox.
>> So he wrote it out in the car. Did you
see him write that one out?
>> Okay. So that's what I just asked you
about
the phone.
If we get the number now, you get the
phone back right now.
>> Yeah. If not, we're taking
>> If not, we were taking it and doing a
search warrant on it. I'm just letting
you know that I'm being honest with you.
>> I don't know why you're trying to
protect the person that's got you in
handcuffs right now.
>> You don't even You don't even know.
>> And you already cashed another check for
him yesterday, which is also fraud,
which they have you on video doing.
So he's got you up to your ears in
$9,000.
>> You're at scheme to defraud, grand
theft.
>> Financial institution.
>> Defrauding a financial institution.
Right now, you're sitting on three
felonies.
For a guy that's never been arrested or
never had any criminal charges,
you're not in a good spot right now.
And this is all I do. All I do is
investigate fraud.
>> Okay,
>> we're going to get that from you.
>> Listen, helping out that plays what
good. He's going to write it in there
that you helped him.
>> I just want to be honest with you cuz I
if you need your phone for stuff, I
don't want to I don't want to have to
take it from you and you not get it
back. You know what I mean? Cuz
unfortunately that's what happens. So,
those are the options. It's easier that
way. Do you have a password?
>> No.
>> Okay.
>> So, you're okay with us going through it
to get the phone number? Is it going to
be in your call log? Is it saved under a
name?
>> CD.
>> God, that's dark.
>> G E. Is that him?
>> Oh, you were texting him during the
whole thing.
>> Why are you laughing at it?
>> Write it down.
>> I'm trying.
>> It's just G E. Yeah, I'm trying to um
turn his screen brightness up.
>> Which one's hurting?
>> Huh?
>> What are you What are you on right now?
>> What are you eating?
>> What kind of drugs? Alcohol. What are
you doing?
>> Oh,
>> you
>> you
>> weed.
>> Weed. All right. Well, I guess that
explains laugh.
You're a little You're a little too
jovial for the predicament we're in
right now. You look
>> three felonies. I wouldn't be
>> at least three.
>> Um paper
here. Um that was cashing a
>> check. Hold on one second. Trying to get
out of All right. One last time. If you
decide
in the next, I don't know,
>> half hour that you have a change of
heart, if you want to press charges, can
I give you a number? And I say this cuz
our detectives here and I can already
tell you that everything that we're
going to charge him with is probably
going to get dropped.
>> Wow.
>> Tell you how you know it.
But I'm clean, bro. I'm fresh, bro.
>> Why you fresh? Why you Why you doing
that?
>> I got no problem. No problem with
police. I know why you been in the jail.
>> That's why you think you out?
>> Yeah.
>> Bro, I ain't got nothing in my name,
bro. I'm so clean.
>> You're sober cakes.
>> Hey, what you doing, bro? Look at that.
Wait, take a picture to me, bro.
>> Because I'm going to put this This is
You're the suspect of this.
>> God damn. Why?
>> You take a picture to me, bro.
>> No, I'm about to go and be wash my eyes.
Damn, bro. um you know cuz ultimately
>> you're like the main victim because it's
your check you know and I'm telling you
no one's coming up to Long Island, New
York and looking like I said this is
some homeless man who got a check that
he knew was no good from two unknown men
that have they're gone. They're part of
>> that is my check.
>> Latino man.
>> You're Latino?
>> Yeah. Bro, you told me you're Arabic
Muslim.
>> Yeah, I speak Spanish.
>> You know,
>> you know a little bit of Spanish.
Come.
I'm just going to give you
>> I'm going to give you my cell phone. All
right. So, if you just decide that you
you know I say that in the next half
hour.
We got things to do before we take him
there. And if you change your mind, I
can just write in there that you want to
press cuz you realize it's like
>> he's going to they're going to keep
doing it. He's going to keep doing what
he realizes that there's no habits on
this. You know what I mean?
>> I'll keep this.
What is this?
>> Weed that.
>> This is what weed.
>> That's a vape. That's a tobacco. It's a
tobacco product.
>> Mhm.
>> Smells cool, though.
>> Yeah. You can't have it. Yeah. You can't
smoke this.
>> God damn, man. I just bought that.
>> Here, let me get whatever you got. We'll
put it in this hat.
>> You just bought that hat, too. It's
brand new.
>> Yeah, I bought a lot of stuff. Yeah,
boy. His whole outfit is new.
>> Yeah.
>> Damn.
>> Is that what you did with your first 400
bucks?
>> They still
>> Hell yeah.
>> Huh?
>> Your first 400 bucks. Is that what you
did?
>> You work at Walmart. Don't you work at
Walmart?
>> Yeah.
>> Why are you homeless?
>> He says his family's from Dubai. Okay.
>> They own like a Go
>> back there.
>> They own a plot of land in Lincoln.
[Music]
Come on.
>> Yo, that's all you got, bro?
>> Yeah.
>> We got to go through a scanner. There's
nothing in your crotch, right?
[Music]
>> Remember that white powder? You got no
white powder that stuff?
>> No, no, nothing. this [ __ ] bro. I'm
coming now.
>> You going in, bro?
>> Just before the rain.
