Don't interrupt me. That's twice. Because of the treatments you refused and the condition her lungs are in, you have been told repeatedly by doctors that she is going to be needing a lung transplant at a young age because of your refusal to give her medication to her. This is a mother desperately explaining her natural approach to treating her daughter's cystic fibrosis, CF. She fears the side effects of heavy antibiotics and prefers alternative care. However, in the eyes of the law, this is seen as medical neglect. With records from four different medical institutions warning that the child risks premature lung failure, DCF has made the final call. Emergency removal for the child's safety. We with the tobramycin. Oh, so the nurse is like, you can deny it. I said, no, I can't. And I told him what they said. And he's like, that's ridiculous. He said, well, she's not culturing it in 2 days, you can deny it. So, she wasn't culturing it in 2 days. And I said, can we deny Can I Can she take it off? Or so she's not culturing pseudomonas. And then Dr. Sindel was like, he did some kind of test to push it through. And then come to find out she was culturing pseudomonas. So, he said, let's go on Toby Nebs because it's not It doesn't have as many side effects as the as the um IV. I said, okay. Obviously, she has pseudomonas, that's fine. And then they kept switching her meds saying that I wasn't They said that I wasn't doing CF meds at home. And I said, I am doing CF meds at home. I do acetylcysteine sterile water and her albuterol. And because I wasn't doing the hypertonic saline, I said, yes, we did those before, but we had a CF clinic that let us switch to a acetylcysteine sterile water because my daughter was on um she was little and she was sick every single week. At one point she was on 13 antibiotics in a row and a bunch of steroids. Okay. >> She was sick all the time. And they kept going back and we were talking and I even had my friend on the phone in these conversations because she has CF. She's 40 now. And she was trying to help me because I wasn't upset up there. I just said, "Why are you going because they kept trying to change the medications after we talked." And I'm like, "You just said we were on something we need to do these medications and then you went back and said, 'No, we're not.'" Mhm. Are are they You're coming in here and your nurse just asked coming in here and saying that you're changing the medications. Like this is not what we just talked about. We discussed that these medications weren't fine for you. We're okay with doing this and now it's changing. Mhm. I wasn't And then they also said I just declined her level of neutral. I'm the one that brought her level of neutral and said have up there. They were using Okay. I didn't decline any medications. I declined getting Toby until she was getting an antibiotic. Mhm. She was getting one. I said I wanted to see what the culture was because that's another strong antibiotic. Yeah. And I wasn't declining her oxygen. I was just didn't want her to freak out on them and be like a lot of trauma for a little kid, right? You're getting poked, you're getting prodded. She doesn't like her nose touched. And so I said, "Can we try a different way of her getting the oxygen?" They said I was denying it. I never denied the oxygen. I never did. Uh what about the CF meds that Dr. Sundell wanted wanted her on the Trikafta? That the Trikafta? Yeah. So that So since my daughter was on Orkambi when she was little Totally different medicine. It is but it's >> Totally different medicine. So that doesn't come into play. Why were you denying her the other one? >> I said, "Well, I said because of her being on Orkambi with the side effects of that, I wanted to hold off until we knew she absolutely needed it. Because I didn't feel like we were there and I said, you know, I just need to to know like if I want to see if her little body can heal after all this. Like looking at her lungs right now, she's got a bunch of stuff going on. She's got rhinovirus, she's got pneumonia, she's culturing staff, she's culturing pseudomonas. Like can we see if in a few months her lungs clear up? And if they're not, then we can discuss Why were you refusing that? I wasn't refusing that. Okay. And they said that like after they did the first x-ray and then they did two one two days later, that one improved. They did another one two days later, that one improved. Okay. They did three x-rays. We got Okay, we we get all kinds of information from everybody. We've been pulling records from everywhere. Okay? So, here's what's going to happen today. All right? And you need to We are taking Kinley with us. Okay? Now, you can handle this one of two ways. You can show out and you can act a fool and you can make this difficult. >> Or can I bring Kinley with me to take her? Stop. Let me finish. Don't interrupt me. You can show out and act a fool and make the situation worse or two, you can calm yourself, ask your questions, and then help us get her stuff and walk her to my car. The option is yours. Either way, make no mistake, she's coming with me tonight. >> Why? Because of the treatment you've refused and because of the doctors >> I'm not refusing the treatment. Don't interrupt me. That's twice. Because of the treatments you've refused and the condition her lungs are in, you have been told repeatedly by doctors that she is going to be needing a lung transplant at a young age because of your refusal to give her medication to address her CF. You I my I applaud you for trying to do the natural way, but with this disease and your 39-year-old friend, shame on her. She knows that this affects every individual differently cuz see I've had to get spun up on this disease. Every individual differently. What might not work for her might work for your daughter. What might not work for another 5-year-old might work for your daughter. So you can't take the advice of somebody just because they have CF. That's not smart. I'm not. I called her old doctor and I'm asking them for a second opinion. Okay, well we got three opinions. We've got South Dakota, we've got Nebraska, we got Sacred Heart, and we got Dr. Sindel. Those are all the opinions we have. Do you understand? These are all pulmonologists that have given their input saying >> go on Trikafta, can I keep my daughter? I don't know. I don't know. >> of today, she's going to come with us. She's officially being sheltered by the department. There will be a court hearing tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Courthouse on Avalon Boulevard. Is she staying with her friend? >> So we will decide where she's going. We have to approve people before we can just place the child there. And you have to understand if we place her with her friend, you're not going there. >> That's fine. That's fine. >> Okay, so like I said, we we will look at her and see if that's a viable option, but we can't make you any promises right now. >> No, we can't. All right, because if your friend is going to let you over there, then we're going to have issues. That's fine. I won't go over there. You can let her take her. Well, we've caught you in a couple of lies, so what guarantees that you won't? I'm not going to go over there. Okay. And we'll we'll we'll discuss it and evaluate it. There's a lot of players that go into placement of children. Um That doesn't There will be a a whole team that ends up contacting you to kind of figure out what all needs to happen with your daughter and viable options um so that we can do home studies and and assessments and for placement. Um in the meantime though, it would be super helpful if you get what she does not like absolutely need together. Um and it's going to be hard, but she's going to react off of your reactions. So, if you need a minute to collect yourself, collect yourself, please. We don't want to make this harder than it is. And it is a temporary thing. Doesn't mean you're not getting her back. But, you have to under Well, that depends on your behavior. It can be up for 12 months. Okay? So, if you need a minute to collect yourself, Mama, go ahead. Nobody said you're not. I never said you weren't a good mama. The route you're taking with the natural treatment >> I'm doing for that. It's not enough. >> matter. It's not enough. She has medication. It's not enough. Yeah. She wasn't in the house. There's another female, white female, a friend of hers, and there's two children, the one that we're taking, and she has the other daughter. All right. Is there any firearms or anything inside of the house? >> Not that I'm aware of. We don't get that information, so And she hasn't made like any, you know, you're not going to take my kid kind of threats? >> Not as of yet. Okay. But, um she has been hostile before with other people, so that's why y'all are out here. Okay, I was just making sure. >> Yeah. And how Do you know how long she's been here, living here? I do not know. Okay. That's why we're here. A couple months, maybe. Okay. Okay. So, we are taking her. They're going to take my little girl somewhere she doesn't know because one that he said and then I It's because of more than that. Okay? There's a lot of contributing factors and then when you get the petition, you'll see what they are. Ma'am, I need to know if there's already firearms in the residence. I have a gun, but it's in a safe. >> Where is it at? Where's the safe at? In my room, in my closet. Where in the house is your room? Way in the back. >> Okay. All right. So, when you've collected your stuff and you're ready to get her things, I ask you, please, don't make this harder on her than it needs to be. There's no Okay? Cuz this isn't about you. This is about her. She was only supposed to All right? And this decision was weighed made way above me. How are they going to know to give her meds and her treatment? That's what we need from you. That's what we need you to tell us. Okay? Okay. We're going to need all the meds, the prescriptions, everything. Okay? I want to know she's in a place where they don't smoke or anything like that, or she's safe. Because I'm good at my job. Cuz I'm good at my job. She's never been away from her more than like 2 days, ever. That was one time. Okay. Her longest was for a long time, but it Oh my god, it hasn't been a long time. >> [snorts] >> Okay. All right, we're going to have to pull ourselves together though cuz we're going to have to work on getting her her ready to go. It's kind of hard. You're taking my child away from me. All right, well if we can't pull ourselves together then I'm going to ask that you start getting her ready. I'm sorry. Um and where to? We're taking her to the hospital. You don't have to answer those questions. Hey ma'am. Ma'am. >> [snorts] >> Sorry if we come inside. Okay. Where's her medications at? I'll get them for Can I come inside? Uh yeah, here. I'll talk to you really quick. I'm so sorry. Can her sister go with her? That depends. That depends on how you're acting right now, okay? >> She can go tonight with her. That depends again. You need to do what we're asking you to do and then based on your cooperation will dictate what direction we go. But we need you to go ahead and start getting her medications. >> [snorts] >> We need everything. How long is she going to be We don't know yet. We need everything. Yeah, if you could please Call Jackie. Mhm. As long as mama's cooperating. 137 137 All right, we'll lock up at 2:15. Okay, thanks. We'll lock up at 2:15. This is so long. This is punctured. It has to be refrigerated. Okay. So It's 2 ml. There's 4 ml in there. Okay. And then Is this a shot or does it go in the machine? >> goes in a nebulizer. Okay. >> 2 ml of that with 2 ml of this. Okay. >> And then once they're open, they have to go in the refrigerator. >> [snorts] >> Okay. And then if I give you a bigger bottle, if I find a bigger bottle, they're only good in the fridge for 4 days. It's syrup though. >> After they're punctured. Okay. If they're not open, they don't have to be refrigerated. Okay, sounds good. You don't need to write this down, it would help if you could. This is temporary, mama. This is going to drive me crazy for a little bit, okay? I don't know, I'll see baby. I'll see you back tomorrow. I don't know, okay? We're going to be okay, we're going to be okay. I don't know what I'm going to try to see if I can go with you. She wants to have to do all your stuff, too. I can't eat eagles. >> I heard level B problem almost out and it's supposed to be ordered tomorrow. Okay. Oh no, if you could put that on the car. Okay. You're amazing. Thank you. Who else has to be here for the greater two? Okay. I have a vest machine can I go get it? Somebody want to follow me so they know No, I can't do that. Thank you. Oh, I did say I put about her staying at her friend's house, at Jamie's house. Oh, she I don't remember me asking her that. Yeah. Yeah. You asked her. Yeah, if you could ask her. She's not pre-approved right now. She had to go through all this other She's still on the bottom right now. Okay. Okay, thank you. Thank you, brother. Of course. >> you. Of course. I got one of my puppies in the company. No, I didn't mean to interrupt you. That's the mama I mean. I didn't mean to interrupt you. I I some of that confidence. Is that the same thing as this? I specifically asked for this. I put it in there. Okay. Thank you. Do you have like a plastic bag or anything you can put all this stuff in? >> [snorts] >> Yeah, give me a second. Can you give me the toilet? Should we bring in toys? Hey, Ginny. Come here. Come to your mommy. Let's go get some toys. What stuff do you want to do with Ginny? Do you want to bring Ginny Do you want to go ahead and get her clothes? Is that okay? Um, sure. Okay. Whatever is going to make her comfortable. Yeah. As comfortable as possible. Joyce can leave her or Ginny's going to leave her off of the sand mat so she can get into that water. Is he going? I think he's going to wear her clothes. Oh, no. It's got a towel too. How does he say he can also get some towels too if he's dirty and then we can wash them. >> [snorts] >> Appreciate it. Thank you. Huh? Yes, sir. Call him on this house. Really? Yeah. Not Not with this family. On this one? Yeah. Mhm. Big time. Oh, they don't get any over I don't know what they got. They took dad. Yeah. All right, can you write down Yeah. or when she gets what? Please. Yeah, I'm just trying to send her the perfect clothes. I gave up on it. I was like, "I don't know." Oh. >> Oh my god. Hurt my feet. You don't want to drive? I could have sworn we we just had this conversation. I'm sorry. I have to go to court tomorrow. You what? I have to go to court tomorrow. We do have a court. But there there's a lot of players that go into it. They won't call you in court out of this, but somebody will probably be in touch with you tomorrow. >> [snorts] >> What does court do tomorrow? Just say that they're taking you for me for sure? Tomorrow is our probable cause hearing where a judge determines whether whether or not you did I don't think she's going to call me out, so why not? And then he'll set the next hearing Hm? which is Well, he'll definitely be explaining. I don't want to tell you wrong. Let's see if That's up to you, man. You you got other stuff to do. I'm going to call the plumber right now. I hope that happens. And you could have been in there with my laundry. I don't know. I think my laundry is going to be okay. She's going out. >> [snorts] [snorts] [snorts] >> Has she eaten dinner or anything? Not yet. Is she on a special diet? We just don't give her milk. You don't give her milk? Can you write that down on the medication thing? Just to be on the safe side. Is she allergic to it or It makes her mucus extra thick and it's hard to breathe. Okay. Is it just no dairy products? She's fine with cheese and yogurt. She's okay with cottage cheese and yogurt. Okay. And then it says if you make it definitely through like the next 24 hours on your list I don't I don't know if you have your card so she can have your email that way you have time to like seriously think if there's something we need to and I'll leave it there. Send us like the computer All right. Um like I said, she went to go get her card or email address so we got it on there. So if there's anything else that you absolutely think that we need to know about her care like you [snorts] definitely don't hesitate to write it up, send it in an email, you can text it to her. Is there a time of day that you typically do her meds? Maybe. Okay. Only before she gets too tired. What time is bedtime? Around 8:00. How? Okay. She usually takes it at 8:00 at night. Okay, they're going to take her blood pressure and everything. Sure. Okay. Absolutely not. Did she have a baby? We have one record from South Dakota saying that. Okay. Well, basically what happened was the night in the hospital was that she did and the doctor came in and said that he didn't because he was a student. It's the only time in all of the medical records we see it mentioned. The doctor now told her in the middle of the night. Okay. It's probably the only time they've ever just tried to cover it. Does she have a favorite stuffed animal or blanket? She don't She don't have her toys. But, she has a stuffed animal and a stuffed puppy. Two two puppies and then a unicorn blanket. She'll probably let her have that in the backseat. Oh, her seat I had nothing. I had it on and then I lost it as soon as I came. >> Blue song stuck in my head now. 807 70 Yes, 1086.
