Okay, I'll give you a coffee if you can take a ride with me. Oh, yeah. I'll take a ride. All right, man. Don't have hat or gloves. I'll buy these for her. Are you pregnant? This pregnant woman was caught shooting up and the cop would do something that got him awarded by President Trump. You embody the goodness of our nation. Thank you. On September 23rd, 2017, Officer Ryan Holitz was at a convenience store when he noticed a couple in the grass outside doing something diabolical. What you got in your hands there, man? Looks like you guys are getting ready to shoot up over here. Are you pregnant? Why are you going to be doing that stuff? It's going to ruin your baby. [Applause] You're You're going to your baby. The 35-year-old woman named Crystal Champ was homeless and 8 months pregnant. And Officer Ryan, being a father of four kids, was so struck by this that he'd do something completely unexpected. What do you think's going to happen to your child when it's born? Um, your baby is coming up for adoption immediately. Do you know who's going to adopt your baby? Do you have a tissue or something over here? Instead of arresting the couple for drug possession, Officer Ryan invited them to lunch the next day, where Ryan and his wife informed the couple that they wanted to adopt the baby once she was born. The couple agreed to this, and 3 weeks later, on October 12th, 2017, Crystal gave birth to a baby girl whom Officer Ryan's family named Hope Crystal after her birth mother. Officer Ryan's police department in Albuquerque and his entire community commended his actions and he was eventually invited to the Oval Office by President Trump and then to the State of the Union address where he was given a standing ovation. Ryan and Rebecca, you embody the goodness of our nation. Thank you. Officer Ryan helped Crystal for a straightforward reason. Because I was the one hearing her. When somebody asks for help, uh, the person who hears is responsible. Officer Ryan sponsored Crystal and her husband at a rehabilitation center to strengthen their future. He saved a baby born suffering from opioid withdrawals. 14-year-old who fatally wounded his mother, fired at her boyfriend five times, and now wanted to end it all. Whatever happened today, it can be fixed. Don't pull the trigger. The police arrived after reports that 14-year-old Barry fired shots at his mother and her boyfriend. So, while he pointed a gun at his head, multiple officers did the same. And he was one wrong move away from fatality. My gun is only out cuz I don't know what you're going to do. When you get to over here, I'mma have listen to me. I'm going to have you lay down on the ground and my gun is going in my my holster. I promise you, if you will walk toward me, keep your hands up. Keep your hands up. Don't go back toward that thing, man. According to reports, Adem and his mother's boyfriend, Cruz, were watching TV together when the teen got up and walked into another room, only to return with a gun. He then shot Cruz five times before shooting his mother while she wrestled the gun from him. After that, he ran out of the house and into the street where he met the officers. Walk toward me with your hands up. I'm going to walk you through every process. Please don't pick that back up. Please don't. Hey, one one person talking. Please don't pick that back up. I got you. I got you. Telling you I got you. The officers had now spent 16 minutes trying to deescalate with Adem. And while they aimed their guns, they were silently praying that they wouldn't have to shoot. Walk all the way out. All the way. Keep coming. Keep coming to me. Keep coming to me. Down in the grass. Lay down in the grass. Lay down in the grass. Lay down in the grass. Lay down in the grass. Watch. Lay all the way down. My gun is going in its holster. Somebody's got cover. After Adem was cuffed, the officers went into the home where they found his mother dead and crews unconscious with gunshot wounds to his hand, shoulder, jaw, and leg. Look at me. My eyeballs, I don't have a clue what just happened in there. We're going to find out, right? Whatever choices you made, it's the best choice you made all day long. The officers treated Adem with respect, even amidst his crimes. And instead of being gunned down, he was charged with murder, attempted murder, and aggravated assault. But this officer was so compassionate that this interaction go. Get on the ground. Get on the ground now. Would eventually end like this. Yeah. Yeah. You came back and give me water. I did. I do. I told you. If you're enjoying this video, please like and subscribe. It all began when Columbus police officers received a report that a man armed with a knife was acting erratically in his girlfriend's apartment. Where's he at? It's going to be barricaded. What's happening? Tell us what's happening right now. Please don't. Tell us what's happening. trying to stab yourself. Can we have a conversation, please? The last time I was The last time I was out here, you were totally fine, man. What's going on? What's going on, man? Put the knife down. Put it down. Set the knife down. Did you set it down? Do what? Let's go down. Rodney appeared to be reacting to a hard substance. And this was a problem because he barricaded the door and was now a potential harm to himself and his girlfriend. This would justify any use of force from the officers. But Officer Badger, who was speaking with Rodney, ensured they took a different approach here. All right, perfect. Here's what I want you to do. Turn around and face that wall. We're going to walk in and talk to you. All right, we're going to walk in and talk to you. Okay, he set the knife down. Turn around. We're going to come in and talk to you. All right. Put the knife down. He doesn't have the knife anymore. He's good. We're I've talked to your brother before. We're going to come in the door and talk to you. Okay. Turn around for us. Please. Turn around so we can have a conversation. No. No. No. Absolutely not. No interest in doing that. No. Turn around for us. We're not going to shoot you. Turn around for us. No. We don't want you to jump out the window. We want you to come out the door and talk to us. No, you go outside and talk. But you know I'm a good He's got nothing in his hands. All of his hands are up. No, he said he 33. He sat down on the chair or something right here. 33A, not 33. Listen, can you He's got a He had a 33 when we first got here. Set it down on the couch there. We don't want you to jump out the window. Back up. Listen to me. Back up. Hey, stop. Hey, it's out here. Let your gun down, man. Let your gun down, man. You see me? Let's go back. I'm coming up. I'm picking my clothes up. All right. Please pull the couch away. Go ahead. Go ahead. He's worried about this. They're about to shoot me right here. Right here. We're not going to shoot you before you. The officer tried to calm Rodney down while simultaneously updating his partners because he didn't want them to shoot at him. And 3 minutes later, the officers were able to enter the home and detain Rodney. Get on the ground. Get on the ground now. No. Get on the ground. Don't you dare. Leave him alone. Leave him alone. Relax. Get out of the way, man. I got his arm. Shoot me. I got his arm. All the guns are down, baby. Okay. All guns are down. No one's going to shoot you, bud. We just want down. You're all right, bud. You're okay. You're okay. Do me a favor. You stand up. Let go of them, ma'am. Stand up, bud. Where's your shorts? Where's your shorts? Nice lane over there. These are his underwear and pants. We're not going to. Eventually, the officers managed to detain him and he was taken to a hospital. However, months after the incident, Officer Badger, who initially tried to persuade Rodney, would meet him again in a very different circumstance. How you doing, man? No kidding. I just I thought it was you. My beard, man. I'm not worried about your beer. You are going to church. You look good. Thank you, man. How you feeling? I feel good. Yeah. Yes, sir. You're smiling. I like to see that. Yes, sir. I drove by the first time. I sure was you. Yeah. Right. Good, man. You remember me, right? Yes, sir. Okay, good. I'm a good guy. You are a good guy. What's been going on? Nothing. Uh, stay in the house. Uh, Rodney claimed to be clean and sober, and he seemed very pleased to see Officer Badger, who seemed proud of his progress. That's what you got to do, man. We had a long talk last time I talked to you about that kind of stuff. Yes, sir. That's good, dude. I feel so cool. Officer, what's your name? Oh, yeah. Yeah. You gave me You came back. Give me the water. I did. I do. Yeah. I told you. Yeah, man. Yeah. I went to jail and got my life together ever since then. Officer Badger helped save the man and helped get his life together. But Rodney was just one of the countless people Officer Badger would help as he once met a homeless pregnant woman and did something shocking for her. You want to go get a burger on the way? I think there's a McDonald's down here that's open. It all began when Officer Badger was dispatched to meet a homeless pregnant woman who claimed she needed help for her problems. Um, I called Mary Haven. Mary Haven told me to call Net Care. Net Care told me to call you. Okay. What's going on? I went to ride to Mary Haven. Okay. Why? What's going on? I'm pregnant. I'm home. I'm done. Okay. So, you're trying to get treatment? Yeah. and Mary um Grant Hospital told me that Mary Haven has to take me if I go there because I'm pregnant that that's their policy. But I have no way to get there cuz I have to go to the one on Jenkins cuz the one downtown won't accept me because I'm pregnant. Which location do you have to go to? The one on Jenkins and High Street. Jenkins and High staff there at night. I call them 1:00. Okay. throw yourself in the back of my car. The officer knew where she could get help, but knew she didn't have a means of transport, so he offered to drive her there. However, instead of driving there straight away, he did something unexpected. Are you hungry? Yeah. You want to go get a burger on the way? Are you in a huge hurry to get in there or you want to take an extra 10 minutes? I'm fine taking an extra 10 minutes. I'm always hungry. All right. I think there's a McDonald's down here that's open, but I'm kind of hungry. Yeah. So, what would you like at White Castle? Just a couple cheese sliders. Okay. Anything else? Small Coke. Okay. You want to make it a meal? Yeah, that's fine. Okay. Hey, can I get two number TWs? Um, a Coke. Coke with one and then I just may get two Cokes. Want ketchup or anything? Do you want any ketchup or anything? All right. No. Are you going to let me pay for it? Nope. All right. Well, thank you very much. You, too. All right. We'll go around the corner. Would you like to sit down and have your food or you want to come out? What do you mean? Yeah, if you want to come out and stand up and eat or if you want to sit down. I don't know if you've been tired. Here, we'll get up on the hood of the car. Okay. The officer never judged, lectured, or talked down to the woman and instead got her some food and took time off his shift to enjoy a meal with her. He wasn't obligated to, but he went out of his way to treat the helpless woman with dignity and kindness. So, you guys really just been living out in that field? Yeah. You have other kids? Yes, this is my fifth kid. Where are the other ones at? I'm in Kentucky with my mother. Okay. Are you going to try to get clean and go down there? I'm probably not going to go to Kentucky. No. But that is my goal is to get clean and get Kaye and Raiden back. I want Damian and Mason back, but they're 15 and 14 now. And they go to school down there. They're doing really good in schooling and everything. So, I don't want to take them from her. And they'll be adults in a couple years anyways. Like obviously they say, "Mom, we want to come with you." I would get them as well, but um my baby girl turns five on Friday tomorrow. I've got a 5-year-old. Yeah. Yep. Five and seven and I turned 40 this weekend. Oh, wow. Well, happy birthday. When are you due? January 11th. that I'm sure there's there's definitely some stuff going on right now with the stuff that you're using in the baby, too. So, it's best that you get in some place, right? Rather than off the street cuz I didn't want to leave my husband like we didn't want to be separated. Well, but this is a little bit more important. It's more important to take care of me and my baby seeing him anymore. No. Well, I mean, if that's the right thing to do, then I hope that you stick to it. But most of the time, people don't stick with that story and they they go back on it. This is the third time I'm I'm dead. I want my baby girl back and he obviously isn't going to do nothing to improve our situation cuz it just keeps getting worse. Um, I got to quit being selfish and thinking about me. Yeah. Yeah, cuz I brought kids into this world and it should be about them cuz they don't have a choice. Mhm. The officer made the woman comfortable while giving crucial advice on how to get her kids back and watch them grow up. She seemed to want this too. So, after the meal, he took her to the rehabilitation center where they both said their goodbyes. Thank you very, very much. You're welcome. Good luck with everything. Thank you. You're welcome. Fantastic. Great work. Thank you. All right. and hopefully I don't see you anymore. However, when this female officer had the chance to do the same thing for this 23-year-old drug addict, she was determined to help. I want you to look in the mirror next time you get a chance cuz I don't think that you belong out here. I don't think you belong out here and I believe that you're wasting your life out here. It started when officers arrived at a neighborhood for two residents with warrants. They confirmed the male's warrant, but while waiting for confirmation for the females, an officer gave her some much needed advice. Have you looked in the mirror lately? I'm just I'm being honest. I'm going to talk honest with you. Have you looked in the mirror lately? No. Okay. you're 23 and you have a kid and you're on SSI and you could get assistance to get a house or a place to live. If you chose to stop using and use your money to take care of you and your family and get government help, but this is on you. It's for you to choose. That's what I want to do. It's just, you know, but once you got stuck in there, now you're stuck on it. Yeah. Yeah. It's not like I'm not talking like I don't want to get cuz I do. I'm not saying you don't want to. And I and I can tell you that I've seen it a lot. No support, no family. All I got is Right. And you're both users. So this is the route you keep going down, right? How long you been out here using? For a week. But I've been doing it for three years. But I'm off and on. Like I'll stop for a long period of time and go back to it. Why do you stop? What makes you stop? like I can stop. The times that I do stop is when you know like I'm with my sister. I've been staying with my sister. Let me ask you this. But it's like every single time I come all year, it's like Yeah. And you're with him. I mean, I'm always with him. But he can't get clean either, right? Huh? I know people are here, but they're no good for Exactly. Cuz this is what happens to you. My sister lives in the country, so it's harder. It's harder to get stuff. You come out here and you know the streets and you know where to go hit up the spots. I want you to look in the mirror next time you get a chance cuz I don't think that you belong out here. I don't think you belong out here. And I believe that you're wasting your life out here. And I think you need to look at yourself. You need to look at yourself and see what you're what you're messing up and what you're losing. Do we have one in front, one in the back? The officer seemed invested in the girl's situation and wanted her to change, but she knew that she needed to want to change for herself and her family. How old is When's the last time you saw him? When's the last time you saw? Like 3 weeks. Are you allowed to see him like this? He's got to be your reason why. And you have to love him more than you love yourself, more than you love this. You're going to lose him forever. You know that. If he don't know you as his mom because you're busy out here instead of busy with him, how's he ever going to know who you are? Because one day you might not have him to be with you and then you're going to overdose. And who's gonna find you? What are you gonna look like when we roll up on you oding in the back of an alley somewhere and we throw you in the medic and you go to the corners cuz you've overdosed. I like that. That's terrible, right? You don't come back from that. Everybody thinks Narcan's going to save him, but if you ain't got somebody around you to save you, who's going to do it? If we can get a car. And thank God you say you haven't. Is that correct? Because what do you think's the next way to do that people turn to after they run out of money? Do you want to be that kind of girl? Like you see these girls out here, right? Mhm. You know what they do for their 911. You can put me on it. And if you're scared of what you see when you're sober, there are people that can help you through sobriety. Because sometimes that's a biggest person's problem in their addiction. It's who they are when they don't have the cuz then you have to deal with the fact that you don't have a mom. You have to deal with the fact that you don't have a dad. But you can also deal with the fact that there are people like us out here that come and find you and sweep you away to get help because you can give up on yourself and I can meet you 10 more times and we can have the same conversation 10 more times. But you're the one who have to face yourself or anything like that. Eventually, she was given a court date and released by the officer. This woman was caught shoplifting. Do you have stuff in your coat right now? No. No. Okay. But the officer's response to that would leave you shocked. Don't do this. Okay. I know it's tough, but there's other ways. Call us for help. All right. On December 6th, 2022, a Wisconsin police officer, Connor Helming, was called to a Walgreens concerning a woman caught shoplifting. Hi, ma'am. Do you have stuff in your coat right now? No. No. Okay. Employees said they saw you stuff stuff from your basket into your jacket. No. I just went and I just put all my stuff back because I was supposed to be my um other half here and he never showed up. I just tried calling him actually. Okay. So, if we search your jacket, we're not going to find any items. I'll give you an opportunity right now to take everything out. But it's going to be your one and only opportunity. If you take everything out right now, we won't press charges. I think that's a fair deal. Otherwise, if there is something I have a hands All right, there we go. The woman lied to the officer but was caught almost immediately. She was lucky not to get a theft charge as the store only wanted her trespass for stealing. But there was something about the theft that moved Officer Connor. Do you have an address that you stay at? No. Are you working anywhere? It's just cold outside. I don't have any money. I just wanted a hat on. I get it, but you can't be stealing it. Okay. Do you have anything else on you? Just that and gloves. Cuz if they check cameras and they find anything else, then it's going to turn into a theft charge. Okay. And you don't have any gloves or hats or anything. Okay. One hand. The homeless woman had a chance to steal anything from the store and she chose a hat and gloves worth $10. While this was still theft and Officer Connor was well within his bounds to hand her the no trespass order and walk her out of the store, he decided to do this. You don't have hat or gloves? I'll buy these for her. Thank you. Thank you. But don't don't do this. Okay. I know it's tough, but there's other ways. Call us for help. All right. But if you come back in here, you're going to get arrested. [Applause] Thank you so much. Again, it's cold, but 947 ain't worth, you know, especially like if you're out on bond and stuff. My ears are cold. I get it. It's not an excuse, but I get it. But, you know, call us for help. We have resources we can help you out with. You know, every contact with us doesn't have to be a bad thing. All right. All right. Don't come back. Okay. All right. Officer Connor showed sympathy and compassion to the woman in clear need, later revealing that we're all human beings and we need to look out for one another. Hey, you too. We don't want to keep getting calls like this cuz you you could be charged with trespassing. This man was trespassing and refused to leave. But Officer Badger would use a very impressive way to get him to leave. I'll give you one of those. All right, take care, man. It all started when Columbus police were called to a gas station after a previously trespassed man returned once again. What's going on today, man? Honestly. Arson. No, I said honestly. Honestly. Yeah. Honestly. Yeah. All right. No. Okay. Can I sit down? Yeah, if you want. Where do you normally stay? Uhuh. I'm involved with mental health. Okay. Adam H. I have a case worker. Okay. I'm waiting on my disability check. Okay. What's your name again? Alfred. Alfred. Alfred. Yeah. I don't You look familiar, but I can't remember where I ran into you. All right, we got to call on that guy to be right here. It's all business. Really? Yeah. What's going on with you today, man? Are you out of sorts? Are you off your meds? Like, did you use This is my day. Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no. Oh, wait. No, no. Alfred was clearly substance impaired, and since he returned to the business, Officer Badger could arrest him for trespassing, but he decided to persuade him instead. Okay, go ahead and stand up and put your shirt on, man. You're fine. Uh, my address is no. Your shirt is currently buttoned and you're not going to be able to put it on that way. Officer, I know you're so Do you have dry clothes somewhere? I've got dry clothes about six different locations. Okay. Start walking down towards my car and I'll get you out of here. Okay. You have to unbutton that still. But that don't know. We're going to walk down towards my car and I'm going to get you out of here. But you still have to unbutton your shirt so you can put it on. I don't want to take you to net care then. Take me home to my residence. Take me to somebody live there. Somebody lived there with you? That's Inglewood. Okay. I live in them apartments. Adam H. It's a CN. I'll take you there. Building. I'll take you there. Do you know? I do. I know the building very well. What does it say? I don't know what it stands for, but I know the building. It's right there off Sullivan. You got to unbutton that so you can put it on. I do not need to go to neck carry. Okay, I'll take you home. Please, you got to focus. Come on, follow me. This is a very complicated shirt. It's not a very complicated shirt. Look at it. Come on. Keep walking. You guys be safe, man. Thank you, man. Oh, I'm not trying to give you any harm. I'm just trying to help you. I know. I'm trying to We got to keep moving cuz we'll do this all day. No, I'm not getting No, I'm going to give you a ride home. I swear to God. Behind the seats. I can't put you in the front. I can't put you in the front. Arrest. No. Okay. I'm not getting in the seat. Where are you going? Come here, Alfred. Come talk. Alfred thought he was getting arrested and would be taken to Medicare. So, he refused to go with Officer Badger. However, sensing this, Officer Badger decided to make an offer that Alfred couldn't ignore. Hey, if you get my car, I'll buy you a coffee. I'm going to buy you a coffee if you I'll give you a coffee if you take a ride with me. Oh, yeah. All right, man. How do you like your coffee? So, black three, three. Well, the black. You can't put cream in a black coffee. That doesn't make it black anymore. Yeah, that makes it creamy. Yeah. Three creams. That coffee is going to look like me in a black coffee out here on there. How much sugar do you want in it? That's your feedback. You want three creams, three sugars? Four. Four sugars. Three creams, four sugars. Man, he's sweeter than you. Come on. Three creams, four sugars. Three. Yep. I'll give you that coffee. Let's go. Where do you want from McDonald's or uh Tim Hortons? All right. Come over here. Hey, listen. I got to Your your bag is going to ride in the back. Okay. I'll ride in the back trunk for that. Well, here. Set your bag. No problem. Set it right there for me. No problem. Thank you. Okay. You can put your flashlight down, too. Right there. Yeah, it'll be fine. You can put your money in your pocket. No, I'm put right there. Okay, that's fine. What else is in your pockets? Here, come over this way. I can't trust nobody else. Right. I'm going to pat you down before I sit you down. Okay, brother. Go ahead. Oh my god. I can't wait for that. You want a donut, too? I'll buy a donut. I got a coffee donut. All right. Go grab a seat, buddy. Usually I don't wear What kind of donut do you want? I don't need a donut. Okay, go and grab a seat. You want a large coffee? Oh my god. Please. Okay. I got to buckle this seat belt. Cuz I'll get in trouble if I don't do that. All right, man. Thank you, bro. Yep. All right. Hey, thank you, Tim Hortons. We will go. And Officer Badger eventually got the meals before dropping a very happy Alfred at his home. I'm officer. Hey, I'm half fine. You're fine. Yep. Just like the animal. Hey, Angel. That's right. Angel, how lucky are you? Come meet officer. Sometimes it's just the easiest thing to do. Nice man. How you doing? Home safely. You're welcome. Hey, Alfred. I'm going to put your flashlight and all your stuff. Doesn't happen often, does it? Blessed. How many times this happened since you were here? I've never seen it happen the first time. Hey, you do me a favor. You go inside, put on some dry clothes. I'm going to go help some more people. All right. [Music] I'll give you one of those. All right. Take care, man. Hey, see y'all later. All right. Happy birthday to you. All this was thanks to an officer who offered to help a woman he approached on the street. How you doing, ma'am? Where are you trying to get to? You want to ride? Please. Come on. Thank you so much. You're very welcome. I said today is my daughter's birthday. She turned one. Oh, really? And I want to give her, you know, a cake. Thank you so much. Oh, you're welcome. Hey, come here. Let me give you my credit card. Go get her uh a birthday cake with a with a number one candle. Let's see if they got any in there. Okay. Oh, your baby just turned one today. Yes. Boy or girl? A girl. You want to see her? Uh, yeah. Actually, we got a little surprise. Just give me a second. Awesome. Thank you, Officer Wilson. No problem. Oh, wow. There's her cake. Thank you. You're welcome. Can we say hi? Yeah. Daddy. Hi. How are you? Good. Can I give you a hug? Hi. How are you? Oh, big hugs. Hi. Is your birthday? Yes. So cute. Hi. How are y'all doing today? Whoa. See, mine doesn't do that. There we go. Happy birthday to you. Birthday. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday. Happy birthday to you. Yay.
