down on the ground. Put your hands behind your back. If you want to catch a bullet, step out. This young man challenged the cops to a shootout and he got the consequences. Suspic. Ah, sure. Drop the gun. On the 14th of November 2016, officers at the New Mexico University got a call for help from the Kamissa Village apartment building. The caller claimed there was a single male suspect who was waving a 9mm Glock around, threatening his roommate and the other residents. In response, two officers were dispatched to the apartment complex. [Music] [Applause] right now. Stay in your room. Stay in your room. If you want to catch a bullet, step out. One of the responding officers, Gerard Colliver, fired two shots at the suspect, who was later identified as 28-year-old Karsten Cutair. Cutair took a bullet to his right leg, which was the encouragement he needed to comply with the officer's instructions. Put your hands behind your back now. [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Hello. Did I hit you? Huh? Did I hit you? Yes, sir. Where at? Roll over. Left thigh. There's a gun. I got it right here. Okay. Do you have any other weapons on you? No, sir. What are you doing, man? Keep your hands right here behind your back. Cutthair was taken to the University Medical Center in El Paso. Afterward, he was charged with aggravated attacking a peace officer with a deadly weapon, fourth-deree aggravated assault with a weapon, unlawfully carrying a firearm on university grounds, and neglectful use of a firearm. He is facing up to 3 years in prison. But unlike Cutthair's almost peaceful event, the next shooter violently disrupted the school, wounding fellow students. Lock the school down. The kid you shot would be a random kid. On the 20th of April, 2018, officers in the Maran County Sheriff's Office in Florida were called to Forest High School because of 19-year-old Sky Bouch. The report stated that Bouch entered the school with a customized shotgun hidden in a black guitar case. By the time the officers arrived, the school was in absolute chaos. Send me signal 55 C hallway. Hey, lock this school down. Where's Who was it? What happened? What happened? 96. I have a shotgun in the hallway laying on the ground. Did we lock the school down? Lock the school down. Now, surveillance cameras showed that Bouch was fully equipped for a gunfight with a tactical vest, gloves, and multiple shotgun shells. He initially blasted through the door of a classroom before going into hiding. In response, the officers meticulously searched the classes with their weapons drawn. Open the door. Down on the ground. What the hell? Put your hand behind your back. Everyone out. Okay. Stop right there. Stop right there. Who is he? I'm sorry. 96 burn. I have one in custody. They're saying he's a shooter. While the officers were trying to ascertain the extent of the damage done, Bouch had already prepared his legal defense. Although he had shot a fellow student in the ankle, the shooter still tried to earn pity points by making a wild claim. You know, other people that are I'm a lone wolf. There's no one else that I work with. I'm telling you the truth. All right. There's no reason for me to hit you right now cuz I gave up after one shot. I'm telling you everything I know. The the kid you shot, what was he a random kid or something? I through the door. I didn't know the gun would even work. I just wanted to scare you up in my house. So you got not saying that this excuse Do you have a mental disorder? Uh everyone in my family's either bipolar or schizophrenic. Okay. Are you bipolar or schizophrenic? Uh I've been to a mental hospital once and they told me I was fine. They just medicated. Meds. That was it. They said I was good. Do you feel good? No, sir. Claiming he had mental illnesses is the main ingredient for an insanity defense. This means Bouch could get a lesser sentence, no actual prison time, and a not-uilty plea because of insanity. But his time in court would come. At the moment, the officers needed to secure the terrorists. I get a mark down here. All the way up. That's fine. Stand in that corner. Slow it down. Slow it down. No, I do not. I've got I'm suspect. We've got scene. We got multiple clear up here somewhere. B was charged with burglary with a firearm, felony discharge of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and owning a short barrel shotgun, among others. He was held without bond and sentenced to 25 years behind bars, followed by 30 years of probation. B was also expected to pay $14,000 as restitution. Although Boo didn't take any life, the next shooter basically wiped out a whole class since Nicholas Cruz entered that high school in Parkland, Florida, and murdered 17 people. On the 14th of February, 2018, the deadliest mass shooting at a high school happened in Marjgery Stoneman Douglas High School. The person responsible was a 19-year-old psychopath called Nicholas Cruz. My name is Nick and I'm going to be the next school shooter of 2018. My goal is at least 20 people with an AR-15 and a couple trace rounds. I think I can do good. Location is Stone Douglas in Parkland, Florida. It's going to be a big event. And when you see me on the news, you'll all know who I am. You're all going to die. Cruz already had a history of threatening fellow students and his teachers until the school banned him from entering campus grounds with a backpack. But that didn't stop him because on a special Valentine's Day, he finally delivered on his threat by opening fire on students and staff in the school. This led to the death of 17 people and 18 were injured. Afterward, he tried to escape into the crowd, but it wouldn't be so easy to avoid the consequences of his actions. Using the popular school shooter trend, Cruz tried to fake insanity, claiming voices in his head forced him to do it. But the officers weren't having any of that. And Cruz was a really horrible actor. What's going on? What's going on today, bro? The demons, man. Demons. Voices. Yeah, no problem. Voices. Voices and demons. Where's the voices? What the Where the am I? Holy. What happened? Shut up. Just be quiet, man. Shut up. [Applause] What? 14 446. Cruz was charged with 17 counts of premeditated acts resulting in death. He received 34 life sentences to be served consecutively without the possibility of parole. While crews caught the authorities by surprise, the officers knew about the next shooter and still allowed him to attack the school. So, did your dad kind of explain everything to you? Said something about school say something about school shooting. I don't know what it all started in May 2013 when officers in Georgia paid a visit to the home of Colin Gray to speak to his son Colt Gray. They had gotten a report that Colt was posting threats claiming he was going to visit his school with a firearm. When the officers arrived, they met a very protective, irrational father. Check it out. Sorry, boys. That's all right. I got up watching the golf tournament and sat back down. That was it. That was it. So, what? Tell me what you have any kids or anything? Colt Gray. Colt? Yeah, Colt. He's my oldest son. How old is he? He's 13. Play a lot of video games and stuff. Yeah, he does like all the time. Is he here right now? Yeah. You think that's something he he might have? I damn sure want to know. Can we talk to him? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Now, look, he going to get all redfaced when you talk to him. Just Okay. Calm. All right. Um, but let me ask you this. Do you have any do you have weapons in the house? I do. Are they accessible to him? Yeah, they are. I mean there's nothing nothing loaded but they are down. We we actually we do a lot of we do a lot of deer hunting. He shot his first deer this year. Okay. You know so like I'm pretty much in shock to be honest with you. Well I'm a little pissed off to be even really honest with you if that if that is what was said. But well we've been off the school for so many times now. I don't know. I I don't know anything about him saying like that and I'm going to be mad as hell if he did and then all the guns will go away and they won't be accessible again. You know, we I'm trying to be honest at school. He is he's getting picked on at school and is everything okay? That's why I keep going up there, you know, cuz you just never you never really know and I don't want anything to happen to him. So, um yeah, y'all if you want to grab them. Yeah, you off topic. Since Cult had just survived his parents' divorce, had to move to a new house, and was getting bullied at school, the father believed he was the true victim. After much back and forth, the officers were finally able to get to the bottom of all the social media threats. What information? Yeah. Just Hey, Cole. What's going on, bud? So, did your dad kind of explain everything to you? I said I said something about school shooting at the school. Did you say something about school shooting? Never. I just told him. I don't know what. Maybe they misheard somebody else. I never say you never ever said No, I swear. Do you Do you use uh Discord? Discord? Yes, sir. I used to. I don't have anymore. When's the last time you used it? Like a few months ago. Really? Was it at Traditions or was it here? No, it was a traditions because in that discord account that I had, I had deleted it before because before you moved here. Yeah, because I think it got like it been password or something like I clicked on a link. Have you heard anybody on Discord when you were using it say something like that? Remember like at that time? Yeah. Um I don't think so. I don't think I ever had anybody that never start looking out making goals for yourself. You interested in anything? A what? A philosopher. A philosopher. Yeah. Well, I mean, do what you enjoy. I mean, I did 20 years in the military. You don't have to settle on just one thing. Did 20 years in the military. More than likely, they track the IP address. Okay. And that's why it went to that address. Okay. Cuz the IP addresses are usually location specific. Yeah. You know, within an area. So if it came from that house, then either somebody there is lying or the information is just so old. Yep. And you know, maybe it was something he heard or did on Discord months ago. I don't know. I have no idea. Okay. But he's telling me he didn't tell me he can't remember anything like that. I you know, I take you at your word. Okay. The officers should have taken Colin's word to heart because one year after that conversation, the father bought his son a firearm as a birthday gift. And on the 4th of September, 2024, Colt used his birthday present to carry out one of the deadliest school shootings in Georgia's history. Ain't going to file a line down this aisle right here after this deputy. Hurry up. Come on, let's go. What the like the moment that it happened, he was at the door and they I knew they were looking for him already, but he was at the door and they almost let him in until they backed up and then he turned away and that's when you hear like the first rounds of fire. You kind of like I don't know. And I already kind of had a feeling it was going to happen and it was him. Just because when you think of like shooters and how they act or things that they do, it's usually the quiet kid or like that's a stereotype for it to be and he was the one that fit that description in our class. Cult marched into the Appalachi High School and opened fire, taking four lives on the spot. Nine others were taken to the hospital. Colt was captured and charged with four counts of felony unaliviving, while his father was charged as an accessory to his crimes with secondderee unaliviving. Although Colt was 14 years old, he was tried as an adult and he has the possibility of facing 180 years in prison. Unlike the previous shooters who knew their actions were criminal, the next suspect absolutely believed he was doing the right thing. Just take a breath. You're just arresting me on a charge that's made up. I know it's not. You are though. It's not made up. It's made up. On the 2nd of May 2023, officers in Pepper Pike, Ohio, responded to an urgent call from Orange High School because they found a bullet on school grounds. When the officers arrived, they began investigating each student, but the person responsible instantly gave himself up. It's about a bullet you want to worry about. Oh, okay. Something somebody find something you know about cuz I had a bullet in my pocket but it would like it's not like I'm planning anything you Okay. But I didn't know I'm not allowed to bring a bullet. Okay. Okay. Why don't you come? He's going to come with Wait. I'm not like a school shooter. No. Let me have Let me have you come with me. Okay. Mr. Musher. I got him. I go upstairs with one of the If I was a school shooter, I wouldn't tell you. No, I didn't. I understand. Today's the day you know they got to be too safe these days. That's nice. When he was questioned about the bullet and his accompanying firearm, the suspect Nolan Rosen dismissed it as a harmless 22 caliber rifle. Yet the harmless gun is known to end more lives than any other caliber currently existing. As for why he brought the firearm to school grounds, his answer was very ironic. Why? It would raise a concern, but I'm not like I'm really scared about that stuff like school too. I'm like very uh and it makes me anxious too that anyone could just walk into school and shoot it up. So, I'm Do you worry about that? Yeah, I worry about that stuff a lot sometimes. What made you bring those with you? Just cuz literally it makes me feel comfortable. It's like the only reason. Having those with you makes you come. I mean, well, I had them I had the rifle earlier and I must have forgot they were in my pocket. Uh earlier where did you drive here? Yeah, but I have no literally no one has bad intentions of it. I just carry a rifle around cuz it's like comfortable and it's not illegal right now. Yeah, let's go out. So, you you'll stay? Yeah. Yeah. Afraid of in particular? No, I literally just it's literally just a like a sentimental thing. Kind of a it's I don't know how to explain it, but it it's one of those things where you carry around a blanket you like because it makes you feel comfortable and stuff like that. While it is comforting to have a firearm in an armed conflict, it is not wise to bring a gun to school grounds to prevent a school shooting. Naturally, the officers went to find the evidence in Nolan's vehicle. Watch the It's right here. Yeah. Just just leave it right there for now. Yeah. It's basically like a just a 22 rifle, right? Like something you shoot rabbits with. Squirrel. I don't know how to check if it's loaded. We'll we'll check it. Okay. So, there's See if this goes up there. We looked on the Yeah, I can triple check. But is he a senior? He's a junior. 18-year-old junior. Yeah. Those are usually the ones that bring guns. Aside from the rifle, the officers found 24 rounds of ammunition in his vehicle. This was a problem because Ohio's revised code made it illegal to bring a firearm to a school safety zone. Since Nolan was 18, he was going to be arrested and charged as an adult. But Nolan was sure he didn't do anything wrong. That was a hill he was ready to die on. Possibly a suspension with a recommendation for weapons, specifically guns. So this is all policy based correct? Yeah. Okay. So this is just signing that I presented you. So there's a policy that says I can't bring you all that. Um, they want to build school buses. Um, I didn't see that. Like I said, I'm just presenting you with this right now. So, I just like we'll talk after you're finished writing, but I just need you to sign that I presented you with what you But I didn't I feel like I didn't do anything wrong. Okay. So, why would I sign? I feel like I didn't do like I feel like I did nothing wrong. Are you refusing to sign? No, I'm not refusing to sign. So, either sign or don't sign. What happens if I refuse to sign? Then I just have Mrs. Ferguson witness that I presented you with this. It makes no different. It actually makes no difference if you sign. This is saying I acknowledge and I knew there was a policy. It doesn't say that. No, it doesn't say that. Just take a second to read through. But by checking it off, you're basically saying I knew there was a policy against that. I didn't know there was a policy against those rights. I'm just confused cuz it's not against the law to bring a gun on school property. Okay. It's our policy. It's not a law. There's a difference between a policy and a law. Not going to arrest you on a school policy. We're arrested on a state law. Yeah. So, you made it all right here. Is it Nolan? Yeah. My name is Jason. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Here's what we're going to do. Okay. We're not going to debate what is or isn't. We know what we have. We have violation of law, right? I don't think there is a violation of law. Okay. You can think that. And we do arrest people that think they aren't in violation of laws. That does happen. You have the right to believe that. You believe whatever you want want to believe. No, I'm pretty sure like I know there's no law. We need we know that that's a wrong thought on your process on your part. What we need you just pull a piece of like writing. I'm supposed to believe it. What we need to do is make a step forward. Right. Put your hand behind your back. I can put your hand behind your back. I'm telling you, I respect you. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. We're okay. Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. Stand by. Can we have this? We're going to do We're going to do it right here. Okay. We will treat Listen. No, I love No, I respect my police. I understand. I understand that. You're safe with us. Okay. I got to get it. Everything is going to be okay. We'll explain everything. Why would I not be safe? Why would I not be safe? You are safe. Yeah, but why would I not be safe? I don't mean uncomfortable. By saying you're safe with us, that means you're assuming I'm not safe. Nolan was charged with improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone, and inducing panic. He pleaded not guilty and was held on a $10,000 bond.
