Miss, put your feet up. >> Why are you arresting me? >> Put your Okay. What about the other two? >> Somebody you don't know. >> I'm serious. I don't know. >> At some point in life, most people have encountered shoplifting. And some are so sophisticated, it's easy to see how even the sharpest [music] minds get fooled. When these amateur fraudsters finally get exposed, it doesn't take long for the police to step in and deliver a heavy dose of instant karma. Put your hand by your back. >> On March 22nd, 2025, police were called to question a woman involved in a grocery store incident before officers arrived. >> Stop. Stop. Stop. Cory. >> Yeah. Cory, stop. She's got the door east side. You going this way? >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Go, go, go. Officers attempted to stop the woman identified as Tori, but she ran off trying to evade capture. Where'd she go? >> Officers spotted her hiding under a car and ordered her to come out. >> Ran through the She was running through the car. I lost her. Hey, Kle. I got her. She's uh under the car. Tori, come out. Tori, come out. Tori, stop. Stop. Why are you running away? >> During the struggle, she allegedly tried to hit officers while resisting arrest. >> You just tried to hit us. >> Put your hand back. Officers restrained her, but she continued kicking and cursing during the arrest. >> West side of J Park. >> Why are you running, dude? Oscar, dude, I can't see. >> We got one female in custody. [sighs] Just turn on her side. It's only ever >> over there. >> Before I ask you any questions >> to advise you constitutional >> stop. >> She's kicking at us. >> Shut the [screaming] shut. Shut up. >> Is she cop? [screaming] >> She was taken into custody after a physical struggle. [screaming] >> We got to pick her up. >> Can't leave her laying down. >> Rolling. Multiple officers are killed with OC. I got a case. >> Yeah. >> Unlock your car, Rambler. accident. >> Charges included resisting arrest battery on law enforcement and disorderly conduct, breach of peace. Theft harms others, but it also degrades your own dignity. Living with integrity brings peace and lasting respect. It is not the craziest incident you can see. The next case will surprise you. [screaming] >> Get back. Get back. >> Get back. Careful. >> Police respond to a Walmart shoplifting complaint. A woman is stopped outside the store after allegedly stealing items, including socks. Officers instruct her to return inside, but she resists and argues. How you doing? Better come back inside the store >> for what? >> What you mean? >> I just pay for every thing. >> What you mean? What? I paid for I came back unless you unless part of it. >> Give me the purse, >> bro. Don't start. You don't got to grip. >> Back up. >> Back up, man. >> Okay. Stay right there. Unless you Unless you want to be a part of the stop, bro. Back up. That's fine. >> You want to go down this way, bro? Sit him right there. right here to the right. >> The woman insists she didn't steal, claiming the socks had no tag, and she planned to pay. When shown her receipt, she admits the item wasn't listed. Officers tell her it's too late to pay. She's already committed theft. You pay for some socks. Want to pay for some socks? Go ahead. Go ahead. Ain't nothing else for you. >> Okay. >> Ain't nothing for you, baby. Ain't nothing else. >> Do you have a ID? >> No, I don't. >> You don't have ID? >> Okay. >> Y my receipt. >> Okay. So, did you steal the socks? >> I took the socks up. The socks was already open. I said, "Okay, it's free socks. No tag on it. I'm scanning at the reg. The lady came back and she say go get another one. I put in my bag. >> You scanned. You scann. >> I was right there. I sc. >> So these this is going to be on your receipt that you just had. >> It's going to be on my receipt. I pay for it too. You want me to pay for it? >> No. If you already pay for it, I'm going to get the receipt. >> Okay. So get it. It's already Okay. Pay for it. >> No. No. Or is only it's either on the receipt or it's not on the receipt. Is it on the receipt? >> It's not on my receipt. You >> I watched you put it in your purse. >> Okay. So you want me to pay for it? >> I know. You can pay for it at court. >> No, no, no. Have a seat now. >> Ridiculous. >> Hello. >> Right. Just embarrassed yourself. >> Tell me why I'm at I'm at Walmart. [clears throat] >> You're being stopped right now for shoplifting. Please hang up this. >> The woman becomes emotional, saying she needs to go home to her daughter. Officers remain calm but refuse her request to pay. Meanwhile, her boyfriend waits outside and begins interfering with officers. Are >> you serious? >> Okay, listen. >> Baby. >> Okay, I understand. Are you going to let me talk or you going to keep talking over me? >> So, no, you can't pay for it because you already tried to steal it. >> I never tried to steal it. I promise you everything. I never tried to steal it, bro. 2268. >> Can you open up a 765 at the Walmart? I have a female to stay in the office. Can we start another unit? Have a seat right here now. >> Have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> We're going to be in the AP office. Um, the boyfriend is outside knocking on the door. Man, back up the door. Back up. >> The boyfriend ignores warnings to back away and becomes combative. Officers try to deescalate, but he resists and is physically detained after yelling and struggling. Both are now in custody. >> Sure, dude. Back up. Like I said, back up, bro. You're going to end up going to jail, man. I'm trying to tell. >> Okay. I'm trying to tell you, man. Back up. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Bro, I'm trying to tell you. I'm trying to give you the opportunity not to go to jail. Okay. >> Again, back away from the door, bro. Stay off. >> Yo, we'll go ahead detain him. >> Don't touch me. Don't touch me, bro. Don't touch me, bro. Don't touch me. Don't touch me, bro. Don't touch me, bro. >> Get back. Get back. Get back. Careful. The boyfriend claims he didn't know she stole anything and that he was only reacting because he heard her crying. Officers explained that his aggressive behavior escalated the situation and led to his arrest. >> And listen to what I was telling you. >> No, you Oh, man. I'm bad, man. You didn't tell me nothing. I'm hearing her crying. I'm thinking she freaking out. I don't know what's going on. I'm hearing her cry. That's all I'm hearing. I want to know what's going on. >> Tell me that she stole some stuff. >> I didn't know she stole nothing. >> Okay. But I told you that she did. >> You didn't tell me that. You never told me that. >> I did. >> No, you did. >> Right here at this door. That's >> You never told me that. You didn't tell me nothing. You said give her back to give her back the purse. That's all you told me. I never knew she took anything, bro. Like, >> come on, bro. Look at that. Bro, I'm still bro. >> Have a seat, Kevin. >> Just talk to me, bro. Real [ __ ] bro. You need to talk to me, bro. >> Yeah. Put your feet inside. I'm going to take you to the county. You going to jail. Put your feet inside. >> Going to jail for your Put your feet inside. >> You going to jail for? You going to tell my charge? >> Put your feet inside, sir. No, I don't. Put your feet inside. >> Tell my charge, >> Kevin. Put your feet inside the car. >> Put your foot in, man. >> Okay. Could you do me at least one favor, please, bro? Could you please get my gun number? I thought you were going to jail. That's it. That's all I >> The woman is questioned in the loss prevention office. [music] She's crying uncontrollably, saying they're homeless and have nowhere to go. Officers repeatedly ask for her information, urging her to calm down. >> No, we don't have nowhere to go. >> All right. What's your first name? >> Brandy. He just gave >> two T's or one T. >> He just Britney. >> Britney, what's your middle initial? >> No, not yet. >> Answer this question. >> Coming down. Answer the man question. >> Answer the man question. Middle name. >> Britney, you got to stop crying. I can't hear you. >> I don't know where to go. >> Star cry. Cut the [ __ ] out. Answer the man question. >> What is your middle name? >> What is What is your last name? >> We're not calling cuz you're about to quick seconds going to some cops and going to a car. Cut the [ __ ] out. Answer the man question. >> What is your last name? >> What you got? Oh, stop looking. >> Come on. Stand up. Question. >> Please, please, please, please, [screaming] please. Can I call my mom? Please. >> No. How about you answer the man question? >> I did. >> My [ __ ] Hey, Siri. [crying] Please, please, please, please, please. >> Since you want to sit here and [ __ ] I'm going to show you some [ __ ] >> Sit down. Answer the man question. [crying] >> I ain't got time or paperwork. That's all I got tonight. >> Okay. Last name. Stop crying. >> My last name is >> Spell it. >> Please. You know our situation. >> I don't want to know. No. >> The woman pleads with officers not to jail her boyfriend, saying she only stole socks and some clothes because she had nothing to wear. She begs for mercy, explaining their desperate situation. You answer that question. I don't do that deeply. I just want to go home, please. I'm just trying to make sure we have somewhere to sleep. >> What's your social, >> please? >> I didn't take anything. I'll pay for it. Please. >> Please don't pay for it. Please. >> I'll pay for it. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please don't take my boyfriend to jail. Please. I'm sorry. I just needed some clothes. I just needed some clothes. I don't have nowhere to go. >> I don't got nowhere to go. >> You want to run her out there so she's not screaming at my mic? >> That's why we got this. Please listen. Please. >> We don't got nowhere to go. >> Hey, you got to stop crying. We don't. We don't. >> You're an adult, right? [clears throat] >> If you don't come in, you'll give yourself a panic. [laughter] >> We all want. >> Okay. So, listen. Have I yelled at you or anything today? Right. You did all the yelling, right? >> Oh my god. >> He's an adult. Okay. He made an adult decision. >> What did he do? >> I asked him to back away from the door. >> What did he do? Please get out. >> I refuse to do that. >> Please. Please. That's all I got. That's all I got. Please. That's all I got. Never took nothing from me. I never said nothing. >> Officers show empathy, but stress that being homeless doesn't justify theft. They explained she could have only received a citation if she'd cooperated, but her and her boyfriend's behavior made it worse. >> Only Christmas for me. That's the only princess for me. Please. >> Yeah. Please. [laughter] >> Please. >> He does. >> Yeah. >> Please. >> Good. How are you? >> You know, I have nowhere to go. >> Okay. >> We don't have nothing of clothes. I don't even have clothes on. >> Okay. >> I pay for everything else. >> It's still not acceptable to steal from the store. Sorry. Can I just pay for it? >> It's up to Walmart. It's not up to us. >> We don't have nowhere to go. We don't have nowhere to go. That's why mommy bought those places and those blankets. Please. Please. for right now. For right now, you're just going to sit there. >> I don't want to go. Can I go on my ride, please? >> No. >> Please. >> I just want to be able to call my people, please. I don't have no family. I only have one person I can call. Please. >> Okay. Well, I'm not calling anyone right now, so I'm sorry. I just wanted to get some socks. I just wanted to get some socks, please. I don't have no clue. Please, please, please, please, please, can I just go? Please, please. Can I just please? No. >> No. Sorry to hear that. But no, you cannot leave. >> I never took anything else. I just took some songs. I need a song. >> Still theft. Why are we going to jail? Sir, why are we going to jail? >> The officer reflects that he knew she had stolen goods when stopping her, but wanted to resolve it peacefully. Her warrant and the boyfriend's resistance, however, made that impossible. >> So, I I I've been dating people for a long time. I know you probably been dating him for a while. So, I'm pretty sure that he knew that you stole the stuff. It's It's neither here nor there, right? But, however, you should have told him when I stopped you at the door and I told you, "Let's not do all this. Let's just go back inside, right?" Because I've been doing this for a long time. So, when I stop you, I already know you have it. I'm not going to stop the wrong person. And then I'm talking to you with common sense, like, "Let's just go back inside. Let's handle this cuz I already know I'm just going to give you a ticket and you're going to go. Now, in your case, you have the warrant. So, you know, there's really nothing that I can do per se, but if we had went a different route, you might have been able to walk out of here and go take care of the warrant on your own. See what I'm saying? So, >> that's fine. But listen, that's besides the point of what I'm talking about. That's what other people are doing. I'm talking about your behavior and his behavior. I understand that uh whose car she wanted. >> Okay. >> Who's taking him? >> Okay. >> 200 [ __ ] bro. >> You say you taking both them together? >> Y'all going to write down together? Okay. So, >> uh, she has a warrant. >> Um, >> okay. All right. Well, I I didn't know. Um, >> I'm sorry, too, bro. I ain't going to lie. I'm be real. I'm sorry. >> I appreciate that. He knows, bro. He the same one who pulled up, bro. Was that over there, bro? >> What we talking about? He'll be straight talking. >> All right. He's going to put you in his car. >> [ __ ] >> Hold on. Wait. Wait. Hold on. Wait. Hold on. Right. Y'all going in the same car. >> Oh, I take the same car. >> You say you going to take them together. >> Yeah, you want you don't want to take that. You >> So it's not that. But normally our policy states that males and females get transported separately. So that's why you want to check her again before I put it in. >> I don't riding in the same car. >> Yes. All right. One second. Okay, have a seat. Just watch your head. >> The woman arrested for an existing warrant and shoplifting. The man charged with resisting arrest. Cooperating calmly with officers can turn a minor mistake into a simple citation. Anger and resistance only make small problems spiral into life-changing consequences. I don't got nothing in my purse. I didn't take anything or nothing. He kept trying to run up on me. >> We can still place you in here. >> I know, but the way y'all was grabbing me, I'm like, can you pull my up? >> You You have to. >> On November 17th, 2024 in Ohio, police were dispatched to a Family Dollar store after reports that a woman had threatened an employee with a gun while attempting to steal >> back to him. I was still, but I gave it back to him. Why you arresting me? >> Stop. Turn around. >> I don't have nothing. >> I don't have anything. >> Turn around. >> I don't got nothing. >> Turn around. >> I don't have nothing. Why are you grabbing me? >> Turn around. >> Okay, but I don't got nothing. But why are you grabbing me? I don't have nothing. >> Turn around and you need to charge your >> I don't have nothing. You just grabbing me. >> He got it back. I never took nothing out the store. >> I never took nothing out the store. I'm not doing nothing but y'all grabbing me. >> I didn't even do nothing. You just grabbing me >> like you just was grabbing me for nothing. I'm under arrest for nothing. I don't got nothing in my purse. I didn't take anything or nothing. He kept trying to run up on me. >> We can still place you in here. >> I know, but the way y'all was grabbing me, I'm like, "Can you pull my up?" >> You You have to understand we stepped out. >> Okay, babe. You ain't got to tell them nothing. >> You immediately said I was stealing. I know, but I Okay, but I gave it back to him. You feel me? >> How do we know that? >> I swear he took it. I It was nothing but soap powder. >> So, we should just let you go after you commit crime. >> I didn't do nothing. I don't want I just want to take your word that you undid the crime. >> Yeah. Listen, that's not how it works. >> Can I tell y'all this? I had soap powder. He called me with the salt powder. I gave it back. >> As for the stolen items, it wasn't clear whether she still had them. According to the employee, the woman had a gun and threatened to use it. For everyone's safety, officers needed to detain her immediately. >> Okay. >> Oh, look at that. There's still pods in your purse. >> It's only two of them. I told you I gave them back to >> Can you spread your feet, man? >> Doesn't matter what it is. >> But I never walked out the store. >> You're right here with the purse. We didn't pull you out of the store. You're right here with the purse. What are you talking about? >> So, as I'm wallet, too. >> Yes. That's that. Nobody's going to kill. >> It doesn't matter the amount. >> I'm just I'm just asking. >> I don't want to I ain't need I know I ain't need to I don't want to talk after. >> Face the cruiser. >> Can you face the cruiser? >> No. I do got a daughter. I know for that and I'm not trying to give y'all no. >> You know, >> so far you've been very uncooperative. Can you face the cruiser >> because I ain't been in jail in a long time. >> That's that's why. >> Face the cruiser. Cooperate with us and we'll see what we're going to do. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Okay. >> Sorry, I was talking to you. You just pulled off, so >> she was extremely uncooperative, repeatedly trying to talk to the people she'd come with. Despite having stolen items and an active warrant, she refused to believe she was going to jail. >> So, what are you guys wanting to have done? >> Uh, I don't want her banned from the property. >> You don't want her prosecuted? Nothing? >> Um, we got everything back. I mean, but the biggest thing, the reason I called started calling you guys was cuz she said she's had a gun. She said that she was going to put to her head, shoot us in the face. Like, I mean, she started going off on us in here. So I was like, "No, I ain't dealing with this." >> And she said that when you guys tried to stop her from stealing. >> Yeah, she said that back there when she was still in the store. >> Okay. You guys don't want her prosecuted. You're lost. >> You guys will probably get half the song here. Sounds like this could possibly a robing stuff up and they go to tell her to get out. She's like, "I got a gun. I'm going to put it to your head." And then she takes merchandise and walks out the store. They got some of it back. There's still pods in her purse. She had both in her purse. >> Yeah, >> she dumped the one out and I caught her in the process trying to open the second one. >> While the officer spoke with the employee, the woman pleaded for mercy, saying she had a daughter and no one else to care for her. >> You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand that, right? >> What do I need arrest for? >> At the very minimum, theft. >> I'mma pay for it. I'm going past that point thing in my pocket to go home with my daughter. I'm sorry. I don't want to ask. Okay, I'm going to read this to you cuz I'm going to ask some questions for you. Okay, we're going to have a conversation. >> Oh, yeah. >> Okay. So, what happened today? >> Nothing. I don't know what I was thinking. I Something was already winning. I went in there and grabbed some ties, some some soap powder. I didn't know he was going to see me. I ain't going to lie. I didn't know he was going to see me. And when he seen me, he said, "Can I have my ties back?" I said, "Yeah, you can have your ties back cuz I got money in me." And I that's when I walked out the I gave him my stuff. And that's when I just he said, "Get out my store." And that was it. Okay. You didn't say anything else to him. You gave them their property back. >> He was trying to put he was trying to grab me and touch me. I'm like, "Officer," I'm like, "I don't want to I'm like I told him I'm like, "I don't want to be in touch." I'm like, "I give you your stuff. Let me just walk out." He said, "Okay, you give me my stuff and you can leave." And that's when I um that's when I left. >> Unsurprisingly, the woman's story didn't match the employees. The officers knew it would take some effort to get the truth, but they weren't stopping until she faced the consequences she deserved. didn't threaten them with a gun or say you had a gun or you >> already beat up somebody and I ain't threaten him with nothing. >> I'm telling you the honest truth. I know why she never took no ties. I know I should have paid for he asked for her back and I gave them to him. I got a whole daughter that's waiting for me right now. I ain't about to threaten him with no damn >> So why you out here if you got money? Why you out here stealing time? >> Because I thought I was I shouldn't never been doing that. >> I shouldn't. I ain't got no gun. I ain't about to do that. I ain't been in trouble in a long time. I know it was done for me even want to steal them goddamn P them ties whatever they is and I got money. >> I ain't about to do that. I ain't about to risk my life for trying to shoot a man for some damn And that's the truth. I'm mad as I did that. Just want to go home to my daughter. >> Who was the other person you were with? >> No, that was my sister. I told her to go get my mom. >> Where's your mom stay at? >> She stay up there on several press. >> Is that where daughter's at? Where's daughter at? >> With my auntie them. They got the competition. >> Riley. >> Yeah. >> So, you understand your rights? >> Yeah. >> When we're looking through your purse in that What's in that dollar bill? >> What dollar bill? >> Folded up in your wallet. >> Ain't nothing in there. >> There looks like there's some like white powder residue. >> Uh-uh. Ain't nothing ain't nothing in there. >> And then there's a there's a cut straw in your >> Oh, ain't nothing. >> Uh-uh. Ain't nothing in there that I know of. Ain't nothing in there. You're not using drugs? >> No, that >> I'm not. I'm just saying what I'm seeing. >> Oh, no. Ain't nothing in >> the officers reviewed her warrants and checked the store's security footage, which confirmed the employees story showing her yelling and stuffing laundry soap into her purse. >> Where's your daughter at right now? >> Where's auntie at? >> Auntie Can auntie take daughter for the night? >> No, she won't. Then I mean if she then [snorts] there's another option we can take trying to save you from that. Where can daughter go tonight? >> She ain't got nobody but me and she know my daughter. >> Did she did she go to with your aunt or that's going to be >> No, they just they had competition. She was only watching her cuz she went to competition with her. >> So who who can take >> nobody? You know you know my daughter. >> You didn't have your mom or anything? >> I don't have nobody. Only got you know you said you know my daughter personally. I didn't know you that you knew her. I would do anything to not go to jail. I just want to go home to my daughter. >> Been thinking about that before you went in [snorts] and decided >> like I apologize. I'm sorry. >> Y'all can tow the car or whatever. [snorts] >> Just about to go home to my daughter. That's it. >> The woman was charged with theft and aggravated menacing after threatening a store employee and being caught with stolen items in her purse. No matter how desperate life gets, threats and theft only make things worse. One bad decision can destroy your freedom and your family's peace. True strength is asking for help, not breaking the law to survive. What an unyielding shoplifter. The next one will react much more violently, so keep an eye out. >> She wanted his counsel, so I just gave her discounts. On January 31st, 2024, officers in West Palm Beach responded to a call about retail theft at a Ross clothing store. But as they arrived on scene, it quickly became clear that this wasn't going to be just another routine encounter. Unlike the usual mix of smoothtalking liars and seasoned felons they were used to dealing with, this case took a surprising and unexpected turn. classes and put the basically underin so discounts and then also underin the manner of like let's say I want this shirt or this pants I'm going to scan a random item that's like 99 cent or 49 cent for that item um passing merchandise is not scanning it putting it in the bag >> that video of it >> yeah yeah everything everything's already so the total she admitted to was 12.92 94 cent I also had her for cash Yeah, she can. I had her for a cash shortage from before last year, >> but I can't. But I was able to add to the case value >> as well. So, >> she's back here. >> Yeah, she's back. >> She knows you guys called us. >> So, I have all of the transactions where the loss occurred or the losses occurred. >> And then there, like I said, she admitted to >> you have videos and everything on on the disc. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I got it on the thumb drive and then she admitted to the cash. We don't have video of that cuz >> to it today, just now. >> Yeah. Did you do a statement? >> Yeah, >> written statement. >> Yeah, >> I'll just take you out and then I >> show them to you. She's really cooperative. >> This might have been one of the easiest cases to crack ever. The store had already gathered all the evidence needed for a solid conviction. And to top it off, the suspect openly admitted to everything. It seemed like a slam dunk arrest. But despite how straightforward it appeared, the officer still had a job to do. Hear the suspect's side of the story before making any final moves. >> You also pass off items the property. So the ones highlighted is what you guys lost. >> Yeah. On here and right here is the items that she deleted. Not necessarily lost. >> Where's everything you guys lost total? >> That's what I'm trying to explain. Like it's a little bit more complicated. So unless you want to get like put for each transaction how much? But basically you add this up is a certain amount plus adding this up is a certain amount. So I have that need to write that down. >> Is this one incident? >> Yeah. Each one of these is one incident. It's nine separate transactions. So basically it's a mixture of stuff. So this one, she item deleted stuff and then didn't scan stuff. This is the property receipt of the stuff that she didn't scan. Same thing here. Item deleted a bunch of stuff. Obviously still left with the stuff. These are the stuff that she didn't actually. And then in one of the transactions, this is just discounts that she gave out under ringing. Once again, items that were deleted versus items that she just didn't scan. And in this transaction in particular, she basically scanned the same 49 cent uh skew here for a random item. These are all of the items that she ended up putting in the bag. But as you can see, everything's like 49. >> Basically, this cashier turned out to be a real life. You know that viral image of Spongebob sprinting away from a selfch checkckout after scanning a flat screen tea v as a pack of gum. Yeah, this was the real world version of that. Except this time it wasn't just internet humor. It actually happened and the suspect got caught red-handed. So every single time it was involving another customer, it wasn't by herself organized. >> And during the interview, she said she just met the lady, the lady. Yeah, it is unfortunately. And then the lady apparently gave her money. >> So she admitted to all >> except for her. That's >> Yeah, that was just her. She said she $100. >> Honestly, in the grand scheme of retail crime, this cashier was just a small cog in a much bigger fraud machine. Professional shoplifters, often known as boosters, frequently recruit low-level retail employees like her to help pull off their scams. >> Multiple times. The first time was like in November, and she had um a bunch of home stuff and she wanted discounts on so I [music] just gave her discounts. >> You know what I'm saying? >> Oh man, she was doing great until she claimed not to know the customer's name. Really? She expected cops to believe she'd commit fraud for a total stranger. bad move. >> And yeah, with the lady I kept giving her like response. So >> absolutely. >> So you're going to free stuff to somebody you don't know their name. I mean, you're you're already confessing to it, so you might as well just be truthful through the whole thing. >> I am being truthful. >> I'm going to risk your life and your your future somebody you don't know. >> I'm serious. You want to check? >> I don't know her. I don't know her name. >> I don't. >> Does she call you ahead of time like, "Hey, I'm coming in." >> This her number.
