Don't. Don't. >> License, registration, and proof of insurance. You're going to jail. We're done. We're done. We're done. We're done. No. No. We're done. We're done. We're done. Stop. We're done. We're done. We're done. Thank you. Give me another hand. Give me another. Give me the other arm. >> Stop and give me the other arm. We're done. We're done with this. Providing identification is legally required and failing to do so may result in arrest. >> I never when he initiated the traffic stop, did he ask you for your documentation? >> No, he didn't later did he did. >> Okay. >> And I said, "Listen, >> so when he initiated the traffic stop and you exited the vehicle, >> I went to take my kid." >> Okay. Did he ask you for or did he advise you of a traffic stop? Okay. >> No, he didn't tell me. It was the reason he stopped me. >> Okay. Did he advise you there was a traffic stop? >> It was No, he said license and registration. He got out. >> Okay. So, he got out of the vehicle >> and he said >> he got out and he asked for license, registration, and insurance >> in after when I started walking away. >> Yes. >> Okay. And then you said, >> "Listen, I said I'm going to drop off my kid." I didn't commit because that left turn it doesn't say when does when there's no blinking lights. I just spoke to the assistant principal and they said that doesn't that right >> it doesn't say that >> it right but that's what I'm saying that's why I >> says no left tenant >> but I didn't >> you can take my listen okay listen I understand everything you're going but >> I'm about to I got hired for the city of Atlanta I will give you my license and registration >> okay >> I don't want to ruin my future I just had an issue with >> I just I just want to get this straight so >> are you supervisor >> okay listen >> that's why I'm here Okay, thank you for Okay, I can give him my license. Listen, gardener, me and him had issue before. >> He said he doesn't remember. Okay. >> Okay. >> He's a little mean. Okay. He is. So, I'm sorry that I was a little mean to you because you've been mean to me earlier. >> Do you understand that we we interact with a lot of people every single day? So, we don't >> mean to me and I said good morning to you and you were mean to me and I actually said you and I was being nice. Ma'am, um, flattering is not going to go. >> I'm not I'm not saying that. You're right. You're right. You're being professional. >> Let me Let me ask you this. Um, he initiated his lights. Um, he got out of the You got out of the car to drop off your child. He got out of the vehicle, asked for your license, registration, and insurance. You said you were dropping off your child, >> and what crime did I commit? And then he didn't tell me nothing. >> All right. So, when you came back, did he ask you for your license, registration, and insurance? >> Yes. And then I was like, "Can I get a supervisor?" And I was really going to give it to him. At the end of the day, I was walking. If you look at the camera, >> let me let me explain something to you. All right? Let me let me let me just be honest with you. All right? That's not how this works. All right? >> When anyone when any law enforcement officer initiates their lights, that is a traffic stop. That is a legal detention. You don't have a legal right to walk away. All right. >> Video review shows the deputy asked for documentation three separate times and the driver argued each time. The deputy ultimately places her into custody. >> You can't I was literally opening the door to go get it and then he grabbed me. >> Okay, >> but listen. >> Go ahead. Place her in the vehicle. Let me uh >> Listen, can I ask you a question? >> We're going inside the car. This is We're going >> You can you can go into the car. You can ask me in the >> Can I tell you something? >> What's up? >> I got hired from the city of the van. >> Okay. >> Please don't take Give me a ticket >> inside the car. >> Do me a favor. Go ahead and take a seat in the vehicle. I'm going to watch this video and then I'll make my determination. >> I'm just my kid, my future myself. >> Do me a favor and get in the vehicle. >> I'm sorry. >> Can I apologize? >> Inside. >> Can you please step in the vehicle? >> Uh, my feet. >> I'm sorry. Okay. taking some of your [ __ ] >> man. Bro, I'm of a tropical persuasion. Okay. >> So am I, man. You see me? I like this dirt. >> There going to be a car coming up. >> Either you. >> So I literally told you you made that left hand turn. >> Let me explain something to you. Right. >> Okay. >> So once you drop the kids off in the school, you're >> So literally as you're getting out of the car, you told her that this is a traffic stop. you know, you advised her the reason of the stop >> and she started arguing right off the bat. >> I've seen enough. >> Okay. Um, I watched the video. >> Stop. Stop. All right. I watched the video. Okay. >> All right. On three separate occasions, my deputy asked you for your license, registration, and insurance. And on three separate occasions, you decide, no, you decided to argue with him. All right, I watched the video. >> Driver asks if someone can collect her vehicle and the dog. Expresses worry about her kids and future. Apologizes toward the end. >> Being arrested. >> Listen. >> Is there someone that we can call to come collect the the vehicle and the dog >> or at least the dog? I will be more than happy to have to move that vehicle into a parking spot, but as of right now, >> no, we're we're we're not going to sit here and argue with you. >> Listen, I'm I'm not arguing. I'm apologizing. That's what I'm doing. >> Okay. >> So, is there somebody that we can call? >> Listen. >> Okay. Is it somebody I need somebody that can come collect the dog >> at the very least? >> If it's on my phone. >> Is it in the vehicle? >> Yeah. >> All right. You got her phone? do. >> Okay, I'm going to tight this. It's a little tight. >> All right, face that way. >> I don't want to lose my >> face that way. >> Face that way. >> All right. >> You should have thought of that before you decided to argue with my deputy about a traffic stop. This would have been a simple ticket had you. I don't have nobody for my kids. Please, guys and my kids. Please, Gardner, listen to me. Look at me, Garner. I'm sorry. >> Sergeant confirms arrest reason as failure to identify during a legal traffic stop. Arrangements are discussed for vehicle dog pickup. Child remains at school. Sorry, >> Stephanie. real quick. You got anything on you that's going to stick without me? >> No. Turn off. >> Hey, Stephanie. This is uh Sergeant with the sheriff's office. >> Come here. >> Um is currently uh being arrested. Um and we have >> the dog in the car. >> Is there any way that you can come and at least at the very least collect the the dog? >> What is she being arrested for? her failure to identify. >> Failure to identify like herself. >> Yeah, she was >> she was charged with resisting without violence. Follow traffic laws and comply with officer instructions. Arguing only makes things worse. A simple ticket can turn into an arrest if you refuse to identify yourself. What an unyielding shoplifter. The next shoplifter will react much more violently, so keep an eye out. >> Take the first one. >> That's fine. Take the purse on. You guys, I'm not running. I'm okay. I'll go to jail, but he's hurting me, though. That's not okay. I want his camera and I want his back. >> On September the 3rd, 2022, police in Washington were called to a Cole store after reports of two teenage shoplifterss. When officers arrived and informed the pair they were being detained, >> force me. >> Stop kicking me. >> Stop touching me. >> You're under arrest. >> Stop touching me. Oh, get up. Give me something. Stop touching me. >> You're under arrest. Can you please? He's hurting me, though. I can't. He's hurting me. >> Stop it. Stop it. Let go. Ow. Ow. He's twisting my arrest. Stop touching me. Stop touching me. I'm a kid. You cannot be doing this. >> He cannot be doing this. He cannot be. >> You're under arrest. >> You cannot touch me like this. You're under arrest. I'm not resisting. You are. Stop. But he's hurting me though. Stop it. >> We're the ones that hurt me. >> We're the ones that fine, but can you like not grab me like this? So rough. >> You know what? You're the one that's fighting me. Okay. >> No, you're I'm not fighting you. >> No, you're fighting. >> No, I'm not. He's grabbing me. >> As bystanders pointed out, if she truly wanted the officer to stop restraining her, all she had to do was stop resisting and follow instructions. It's a hard lesson, but one that needs to be learned. Get the off. >> Get off me. You get away from me. Get away from me. Get away from me. >> Get away from me. Get away from me. Get away from me. Get away from me. >> Stop pushing. Okay. >> Get away from me. I'm not pushing. Twins. He's hurting me. But you cannot be grabbing me like that. You cannot grab me like that. You cannot hug me like that. What is wrong with you guys? No, this is not okay. I'm a little girl. You cannot be twisting my arm. I'm not resisting. But he keeps pushing my arm. I'll get in the car. He keeps twisting my arm. This hurts my back. >> Well, stop it, right? >> He's hurting. >> Just stop. >> No, you stop. You're over here twisting my arm. >> It seemed clear that her parents had never taught her how to properly deal with law enforcement. Here's a simple truth. If you break the law and try to run from the police, you will be chased, tackled, handcuffed, and taken to jail. That's how it works. >> Sir, he's literally playing force on me for no reason. >> Not a reason, but I mean like >> I don't mean by no reason. I mean, how he grabbed me. Why? >> How he grabbed me? I'm not fighting you, sir. I'm a woman. I can get up. >> No, I didn't kick you. I didn't kick you. You're lying. Check the camera on your >> What? He he used force tell look at his camera. Look, I have a video. I have a video. I'm not I'm not running away or nothing. I will get in this damn car. But he over here is twisting my arm and pushing me down. >> Take the purse off. >> That's fine. Take the purse out. You guys, I'm not running. I'm okay. I'll go to jail. But he's hurting me though. That's not okay. I want his camera and I want his backpone. All right. I got you. There's no doubt she genuinely believed she was in the right, but the body cam footage she demanded would only prove the opposite. That she was the one at fault. >> Recording of what you pinned me down to >> and I'm not playing. I will call this. You guys don't know who my parents are. >> You will. And I'll give my lawyer to >> Can you tell your parents you shouldn't be selflifting, right? >> Yeah. And and I'll tell my parents about you, too. >> And you're fired. You dirty. >> Good luck convincing anyone that the officers used excessive force when several witnesses were ready to vouch for their professionalism with the teenagers safely secured in the back of the patrol car. >> There you go. Here you go. Look. >> Oh, hell yeah. Okay. Ours. >> No, no, no. I'm just showing you she using a magnet. That's a burglary. I think he has the purse mixed up. Yeah. Or this is the I guess this one the black one. >> Should I put in my like what the whole resisting thing cuz that >> Yes. Well, I mean I didn't get a chance to turn on my camera until after I'm holding her down. But >> she's the one that's like fighting me. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Kicking me. >> Yeah. Which do you remember? Which one? >> What? >> This is Mexican's. >> This one. >> Hers. >> Hers. >> And then black. Black. So this is hers. >> Okay. >> That's all hers. >> Okay. >> And this is all hers. >> Yeah. Can we get a um >> picture of the ID? >> The IV. >> That's not her. >> Oh, >> we don't know yet. >> Let me find out who she is first and I'll let you know. >> Can you find out who she is, too? >> Yeah, Tanner's doing that. I know, but he's a little delayed. >> No, he's >> After reading the suspect her rights, the officers listened as she claimed she needed medical attention, saying her wrists had been twisted and her head pushed into the ground during the arrest. >> Okay. So, your court date will be September 13th, okay? >> 8:30 at the Federal Way Court. >> And I'm going to take a picture, too. >> Thank you for not like jumping on me. >> Can I flick the camera off? >> Flick my camera off. your camera >> for what? >> Cuz >> she's the one that's like fighting back. >> That's the photo I want you to have though. >> Dang. Why you had to slam my twin up like that? >> No, she was kicking me. >> I was just grabbing her. Okay, look. No, don't do that. You don't want You don't want that on your >> Okay, so here's the ticket. F3. Okay. All right. You're good to go then. Stop stealing. Stop stealing. >> Yeah, don't stop. >> Stop being so aggressive, man. >> All I did was grab her arm and then she's the one. Come on. >> I already discussed it with her. She's going to get in her ear eventually, right? >> Oh, I'm going get in her ear. >> All I did was I grabbed her and said she's on and then she's Hey, you know what? That's what happened about the big dog. >> It's the boss. >> That's the boss. >> All right, big dog. >> Make sure he didn't get beat up. Oh, he he got dragged around over here. >> Yeah, >> cuz you said you're fighting. >> All right, >> all right, you guys have a good one. >> Show up to that court. >> The suspect in the back of the cruiser could have received the same respectful treatment as her friend if she had simply cooperated. But by choosing to run and resist arrest, she sealed her own fate. Okay, just right here. >> Yep. Let me see your right hand. >> Okay. Have you sit over there? So, you're not allowed to go back to that mall. You understand that? >> Okay. So, you're basically I'm telling you you're being trespassed. >> Have it recorded. All right. >> Okay. So, you can call your friend or whoever you need to and have them pick you up right here in front of the court. >> All right. >> Address is on this ticket. Same address still. >> Okay. >> Your court date is September 13th, 8:30 in the morning. The store cut her a break on shoplifting, but she still got hauled off for trespassing and resisting arrest. Sometimes mercy runs out when you keep pushing your luck. Dodging one charge doesn't mean you dodge them all. If not the craziest incident you can see, the next case will surprise you. >> Hey, what's your name, sir? >> Bobby. >> Bobby. Perfect. Cuz he looked younger. I didn't recognize him. He goes, "I don't have my ID." I'm like, "I'm sorry, I cannot sell them to you." And he's like, "I'll do anything. What do you want? How much is it going to cost? What do you want?" I said, "I can't sell them to you." He like grabbed them from my hands and took off running out the door. So, I started chasing him and then I'm like, "I'm not supposed to do that." Adrenaline was flowing. And so, I said, "I'm calling the cops." Well, then Tony said he did drop a $100 bill out there. It's not 100 bucks. >> I have no idea. What does it cost? >> It's like 200. >> Oh, really? >> Oh, yeah. >> Do you have any video of the guy? >> Larry's reaching for the cigarettes. Mary grabbed them. There she >> I'll see if I can identify him and, you know, have him come back and pay for the rest. >> About 25 minutes later, Cody escalated things dramatically. He rammed his car through a locked gate at Lacrosse Regional Airport. Airport workers reported seeing him doing multiple donuts near an airplane before speeding down the runway and stopping close to a small jet. >> 904. I copy that. He also did a display of knife. I believe he's going to be my theft suspect from Quick Drip Magic Vehicle. >> Airplane's ready to start. Ready? I can hit the door one time. Well, let's wait till we get enough people here. Well, he's got a knife on a plane. >> No, but he has access and he has it powered up. Can you shut it off from here? >> No. >> Yeah. Go right through it. He actually just sold two cartons. Come out now. >> I can't see him from there. >> I can see him over here. >> Officers managed to hit Cody once with a bean bag round, but he kept waving his knife. One officer crept up to the plane and used pepper spray to force him out, but it only made Cody more erratic. And then he blurted out something to the officers that no one saw coming. >> I will cut you. I am a suicide bomber. >> You're under arrest. Come out. >> Allahbar. >> There is no vehicle button. >> He's saying Allah Akbar and that he's a suicide bomber. >> Come out with your hands up. Do it now, sir. Just want to talk and see what's going on. Come on. >> For my entire life. >> All right. Come down here. We're talking. We just want to help you out. Come on. >> We need gas or something. He's in there barricaded with a knife. It's fine. >> Can you step out and talk to us, please? >> Drop the knife. >> He's got the knife in his right hand. >> Drop the knife. >> Left hand. Left hand. >> Sir, >> we don't want to hurt you. Just come out. We want to talk. No one wants to hurt you, >> sir. Drop the knife and come out. Still in his hand. >> Drop the knife. >> Cody, just come out, man. >> Make a deal. >> Sir, come out. You won't be hurt. >> Just come out. We don't want to hurt you. to the right. >> Yeah, when he when he crossed the door, he beanbagged him, hit him good, but >> the officers assured Cody that he wouldn't be harmed if he came out of the plane with his hands in the air. Given everything he had been saying, it seemed likely he was either intoxicated or struggling with a mental health crisis. >> Out here, >> promise not to shoot. >> We will not shoot you. We will not hurt you if you come out with your hands up. Empty. Thank you. You >> just threw something else, too. >> It's on the top step. All right, let's see your hands, buddy, and just walk out. Just come out. Keep your hands up, buddy. You okay? >> Drop. Drop it. Just drop it. Drop it. Drop it. >> Come on out. Let's see your hands. Let's see your hands. >> Come on, bud. >> Just your hands. >> Drop it. >> Hands. Hands. Hands. >> Drop it. >> Watch your hands now. >> Another taser. >> Drop it now. >> To the left. Going up. Watch. >> Go for the Go for the shield if you're going to tase him. Tas. Cody chase him. Cody slow us down here. We slow it down. >> Cody, where are you from? >> I don't like them. >> I don't like them. >> How do we end up here today? Can you talk to me? What's your plan today? Do you have any explosives with you? What What kind of explosives do you have? C4. Where did you get that? Government. >> Cody escalated the situation by threatening to blow up the airplane with C4 explosives, claiming he'd gotten them from the government. He told officers he had a dead man's switch and two handguns on board and even offered to hand over the switch, but only if they let him use the bathroom first. >> We can't let you take it. But we can get you to a bathroom. We can uh can have you come down here and then we can get you to a bathroom. I can tell you that. There's one right in the hanger. >> All you got to do is back off so I can take off the switch. Back up. >> Well, you can only back up if you're starting to come out, though. But come on. You're not moving, man. >> Because I got shot in the leg. Okay. Well, we'll get you some help for that, but we got to have you move if we move. Okay. Come to the top of the stairs. >> Come to the top. >> Back up and I'll give you the bomb. >> Okay. Come to the top of the stairs. >> No. Come on. >> Nope. >> We're back pretty far, man. >> Back off and I'll give you the bomb. >> Well, we backed up and you didn't come to the stairs. >> You're still with the range from C4, so you didn't really >> Okay. You can't back off that far. We'll take two more steps back if you come to the top of the stairs. Okay, Cody, we're going to throw you a little camera to look at. Okay. You can talk to it. All right. Somebody does have a gun. >> Cody, I can't hear you. You got to come to the stairs. >> They're all shot. >> Come on out, brother. We'll get you to the bathroom. >> He just stole two burns of cigarettes from truck. Same suspect. >> Clear. The officers quickly realized a bigger danger. If Cody had even a basic idea of flying, he could try to take off. Fortunately, airport workers disabled the jet's battery, leaving the officers with just one task. Get Cody off the plane without anyone getting hurt. >> Your hands, we don't want to hurt you. Okay, stand up for me. We got to stabilize. >> We got a spot coming. >> Clear the rest quick. Is there a big >> cigarettes here? >> There's my own cigarettes. >> Yep. found my stolen cigarettes. He's my my suspect in my cigarette. >> You guys check for tas. Cody ended up facing six charges from the incident, including felony counts of attempted carjacking with a weapon attempted robbery with threat of force, making terrorist threats, bomb scares, failure to comply, and misdemeanor criminal damage to property. Reckless actions can escalate minor crimes into life-changing legal trouble. Once law enforcement and federal agencies get involved, the consequences only get heavier. >> Now, what about my bike? >> Store staff recognize a familiar face, a repeat shoplifter previously caught on video leaving in unpaid clothing. This time, they monitor him closely as he cuts tags, damages merchandise, and heads to the register while already wearing items he hasn't paid for. He is in my line right now, but I'm going to go ahead and see if he'll buy his items so that way we can get him trespassed. >> Yeah, sure. >> Oh, no. >> I do have a video of him knocking out though, wearing our clothes. Um, and then he came in right now and I had noticed him and I sent it to my manager. I was like, "Do we know this person?" Like the main manager. And he was like, "Oh yeah, that's the guy that walked out wearing our clothes." And um >> when was that? >> Let me look. I have the video. >> Was it within the last month or so? >> Not in the last month, I don't think. I think it was like go back. And then he was trying to cut hard tags off. I mean, if he's going to pay for it, pay for it. that. >> Oh, so if she pays for the clothes, you just want them trespassed. >> Yes. >> Okay. So that's him walking out. Those are our proofs on him. He's wearing our jacket. >> When confronted, the suspect insists he did pay for the shoes on his feet, but the receipt doesn't match. After some back and forth, he admits he already put them on and is detained. >> Appreciate it. Thank you. >> Yeah, I know these are your shoes. >> Yeah, those are our shoes you're wearing. You cut them off. >> No, I just paid for them, man. >> No, you didn't, >> man. For these, man. I don't see the shoes on here. >> Where are the other shoes you had in your cart? The blue ones. >> Which ones? I don't have no blue ones. >> I don't know why you're trying to >> dude. Just put your hand behind your back right now. >> Officers explain he'll face at least a criminal citation and possibly more if warrants are found. The suspect reluctantly removes the stolen shoes and changes back into his own. >> As long as you're clear, um, you know, I can see about the criminal uh citation. Okay. Okay. But at the very least, it's going to be a criminal citation. >> Yeah. >> At uh you've been in meeting court. >> Are you going to come back or you go at 135 East? >> It's been a long time. >> Been a long time.
