No. I'm on the ground, baby. >> Today, we dive into a world of mind-boggling foolishness as we take a closer look at some of the dumbest criminals ever caught. Get ready to shake your head, laugh out loud, and marvel at the absolute comedy of crime gone wrong. And then you're asking resist. On the 8th of March 2025, Las Cruus's police respond to Walmart theft call after loss prevention reports a woman later IDed as Donna Clark Medina concealing jewelry and other items in her hoodie and purse before leaving without paying. >> Donna Medina, do you mind stepping out of the car on to that side? Do you mind stepping out of the car? >> Okay. So, do you mind turning off your car for now and and zipping out as well? >> Do I have >> It's just mainly Okay. So, you were caught uh shoplifting at the Walmart. Okay. Do you mind stepping out? Do you mind stepping out of the car? >> I need to pop up a car. >> Do you shoplifting at the Walmart? >> You could come check. >> Do you mind stepping out of the car? >> Oh my god. >> And step over here with this officer that's in back. >> There's nothing on yours, sister, sir. Is there any reason why you don't have any license pl? >> Oh, is it? Okay. >> Yeah, if you can't please. >> Officers stop her black Toyota Tundra, question her, and confront her about shoplifting. She denies wrongdoing, though Walmart staff claims she was caught on camera hiding chains in her purse. >> Where are her bags? Is did she put your >> Where are the >> Okay, >> which are all the bags? They took everything out that she said she took. >> They said it was something under a great jacket and they took it out. It was bra something, but they said she had left it out in her purse, but it doesn't have anything in there. >> So, they do have you on camera that you concealed some items, some chains. They did they said they put they saw you putting it in your purse. >> You guys are checking my purse. >> So, at this time, I do need to take you back over there. They're going to trespass. Police explain Walmart's trespass procedure, requiring her photo. She resists returning, but eventually agrees after officers assure her it's necessary. >> You don't want to go back over there. You guys can do it here, but I'm I'm not. >> So, the way the Walmart does their stuff, they need to take a picture of you cuz you are being officially trespassed. You're not allowed to go back and they need your picture for that. So, I do need to take you back for that. >> I don't want to go back over there. I really don't. >> Take a picture of me and take it to them. >> It doesn't work like that. might wind up with them wanting to press charges on you and then we would end up taking >> I think I put in my purse. >> Well, I haven't seen the video and I'm just talking to you. So, you're you're telling me you didn't steal it? Like I I have no idea. >> I have no idea. >> So, we need to go back watch the video. >> Um take a picture of me and that's fine. And could I leave? And they could ban me for whatever they think I sold. >> And could I leave? >> Yep. >> As long as they're not going to press charges. I just don't want to tell the guys that we're right there. I'll deal with anybody else in there but them. >> Okay. >> We'll just have you deal with her. Is that >> okay? That I'm cool with that. >> So, since I I'm going to put you in my unit, you're not under arrest or anything right now. Um, is it okay if I pat you down cuz you are going into my unit. You don't have anything that's going to poke, stick me, or anything? >> I don't got nothing. >> I'm just going to check. Okay. >> Yeah. Um, >> 1126, copy 21 request for it's in the car. >> Yeah, it's in the front seat. Actually, no. No. Uh, he'll grab it. Just describe it. It's black. >> It's just, um, my wallet. >> Oh, it's just a wallet. You don't have like an actual purse? >> I have a wallet. >> Okay. All right. Is it okay if you grab it? >> She is patted down and escorted back to Walmart. Officers recover some concealed items, but two jewelry chains remain unaccounted for. >> All right. Just put your arms behind your back. Like I said, you're not under arrest. It's just procedure for for a pat down. Okay. >> Just like that. Yeah. Just like that. You don't have anything on you, right? >> Girl, you'd be surprised. >> All right. >> It's a big Yes, that one. >> Yes. I'm blind. I don't have my contact. Yeah, just that. >> Okay. So, I'm going to put you in my unit. We're going to drive back and they're going to >> She said she showed them the the receipt and that was it. >> Do you Did you buy any items there? >> Yeah, we bought them. She has You have the receipt? >> Yes. >> With you? >> My cousin has cuz we did two >> wants her to take >> for the pictures for they want her trespass. >> They checked them. >> Something about chains or >> chains >> inside of her purse. >> I don't have any chains. >> Chains. >> Chains like like jewelry chains. >> It's the big big big one. Big big brown one. >> Can we grab that one? All right. Do you want to have a seat in the back of her car? >> Follow me this way. >> Oh, >> you're not going in high, but I need you to step in there. cooperative with us. >> I don't like your guys' cars. >> All right. He's going to hold on to your bag. Okay. [Music] When taken into the office, Donna resists forcing officers to handcuff her. She continues denying theft, claiming Walmart took nothing from her bag. I'm not dealing with him and then other protection office is there resist >> uh did you find any of the items You want to come tell me >> what's your name? >> Uh, I came in villain and you are being very disrespectful. >> I talked to them already. >> Can I get your license? >> 116. [Music] >> Yeah, it's right here. Yeah, she's 15. 116. There >> is video there. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. >> And then also, you're going to be trespassing on property. Okay. >> Put this back in here. >> That's not even the first she was using earlier. >> Okay, that's fine. If you could just add the body that she had put. >> So, you're being arrested for shoplifting, right? >> No, I'm not aware that I shoplifted. >> You don't remember them taking the items out of your bag? And >> they didn't take anything out of my bag. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Is the Robello Vista address good for you? No, I don't have an address. >> I want right there. >> It won't. It won't tighten on you. >> Surveillance video clearly shows her hiding items in a gray hoodie and handbag, then walking past the checkout without paying. Officers note she concealed jewelry in a brown bag and refused to hand it over. >> You told me they're going to come. >> I want the receipts. I have proof that I didn't take anything. the other asset protection grades and even if you didn't take it took it away from you outside if you pass like all points of sale like the cash register or like start walking outside >> that's automatic >> but that they do that all the time and then I always prove them like I have the receipt and then they let me >> see what I can figure out. I appreciate you being cooperative with me. >> Inside the great hoodie. >> Yeah, >> we saw you do that. >> It's all on video. >> It's all on video. >> That mean you I don't know why you concealed them. It's weird, right? >> I >> That's odd. I agree. >> And I bought the shirt. >> You bought some. Not the ones that were concealed inside the movie. >> There shouldn't be nothing in the movie. >> Well, there was. Okay. >> All the 49. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Did they give you the sheet? I think she has 40s that she can. >> Okay. >> Police confirm she paid for one hoodie but concealed multiple items inside it. Another female companion was involved but did not conceal merchandise. >> So, it's going to be suspect is Donna Clark. This is yours. And then they had video of her concealing the items in other items. So then there was another bag that she had that she could see in the video and it was the jewelry that she put inside the purse. >> Okay. >> She's walking out past all points of purchase. She's right here in this little lobby. >> She's in the lobby when they stop her. >> Okay. >> And then that's when they pull out all that stuff. Um all the concealed stuff. So, she paid initially for like a gray hoodie and then she had stuffed all that things in there. Didn't pay for them. >> Okay. >> Was already walking out. They stopped her, started pulling all those things out, and then um >> she didn't want to give them the jewelry from the purse. Walks out with the jewelry in the purse. >> Okay. >> Uh I didn't send them a link. And then I did get the receipt for that. So, it's 7878. >> She was another concealer. Concealer. So it was like four shirts, three bras. >> The link I think he's going to watch for her. Do you need anything else for me? >> No. I have the RP info. I got hers and then I have the receipt and items and then send them the link for them to upload it. Correct. Okay. 575 is good for him >> for the RP. You could just send that link. >> Okay. And then I'll do primer and then honestly it'll just say that it's your >> case. >> I have one lady in the office. What? >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. She can't come in. >> All right, I'll do a set for this one. >> I'm just waiting for your case number. >> Oh, she she got it. She's awesome. So, we are >> Yeah, I'm just waiting for a case number and then I'm going to go. >> They're talking to 700. That's why >> actually I can get it. Okay. Sounds good. >> Is it okay if I just toss it in there? >> Just make sure you don't lose it. >> I'll take it first. [Music] So, I appreciate your cooperation. What I'm going to do is I'm just going to give you a criminal citation. >> Um, it's basically justation, you know, acknowledging that, you know, items. Um, once you sign it, you just promise him to appear. Instead of immediate jail, Donna is issued a criminal citation for shoplifting requiring her to appear in court within 3 days. Officers warned failure to appear will result in a warrant within the next it'll be within the next 3 days. Uh make sure you go though otherwise I'll put out a warrant for you and then after that you can just um I'll let you I'll release you. But um give me like a few minutes. I have to pack it up. Okay. and stand here. >> All right. So, go ahead and sign here. Like I said, I explained when we're kind of walking out here. Um, >> where are you? Let me sign right here. >> And then the bottom copy is yours. So, you have until the day I circled it on your paper, okay, to show up to the the court mentioned on top. The top is >> so all the information, you need court date. Make sure you just take care of it on Monday. Otherwise, if you don't if when they show the ones that you sold and you're on the receipt, I just represent that to the judge. >> Yeah. You just talk to them. Show everything you have. >> Okay. >> And then go from there. Make sure you take care of that. Okay. >> All right. Thanks. >> All right. Stay out of trouble. >> All right. You guys have a good one. >> Donna Clark formally charged with shoplifting based on surveillance footage, witness statements, and recovered items. released after citation, but must face mandatory court proceedings. Even small acts of theft can carry serious legal consequences once caught on camera. Surveillance and witness evidence make denial nearly impossible in court. If you like this video, please sign up for law zone to receive more. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. >> Walmart. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. being put under. >> On April 5th, 2024, police responded to a shoplifting call at Walmart. Security identified a gold Acura sedan leaving the lot. Officers stopped the car and detained the driver and passenger. >> Hey, passenger, put your hands on top of the the dash. On top of the dash, that phone, whatever you got in your hand, let it go. Put it on top of the dash. All right. about the propert investigation. >> What's your name? >> Can she Oh, I was just going to say, can she take my call my son? >> Let's figure all this. We're figuring it all out, right? The detained woman complains of discomfort with handcuffs and insists all her items in the car were paid for. She claims to have receipts for everything. >> We'll get to that point eventually. >> All right. Can't take a seat. >> I can't sit down. I sit on my bumper. >> A hernia. >> Oh, mine are >> I can't just lean back. >> I'll say 10 time with her. All right. And then see what you got. Can you twist this, please? >> This one? >> Yes. >> All right. Just lean forward a little bit. Lean forward so I can get better angle. I'm going to undo it. All right. And then turn your wrist inward. Okay. All right. Stay right there. That better. Lean back. >> Do you know what's going on right now? >> No. >> Okay. So, I guess Walmart called about um a shop broken or something. So, we'll >> officers question her background. She admits to a prior arrest for fraud. She expresses confusion about the current investigation. >> Not to the store. >> Okay. You have ID in the car? >> Yeah. >> Ma'am, you ever been arrested before? >> Mhm. >> For fraud. >> Fraud? That's the last time you got arrested? >> Nothing. >> Oh, no. Um, >> can we get with um Walmart yet? >> They're coming. >> Okay. >> I ran her car. I came back to her. >> You can run her. There's no escaping that sun, bro. I'm trying to I'm trying to I'm trying to hide. >> I wish I can give you some You want to sit in the car better or No. No. Okay. >> Get some shade. I'm like There's no There's no shade in here. I start putting sunscreen. I'm like I put sunscreen and I'm all like it's all shiny. >> Yeah, you go get shiny. Get a tan. >> Why they won't tell me what's going on? But she know what's going on. >> Police read her Miranda rights. She admits having a bag in the store she did not pay for, but claims it was unintentional and she only came for drinks. >> I think they're trying to get her information right now, too. >> I know. She said she was saying something about the man told her something. Whatever. But I don't know what's going on, but they said that I heard her saying that the man told her something. Ain't nobody told me nothing. What are you guys trying to say on the investigation for sure? I ain't I ain't on investigation for nothing. I believe I got I got I be in the house. I don't even go outside. I don't want to be around people. You know, every move I place stay in the house. I don't even go to one. So I So I ain't on no investigation. >> Okay. Now what's going on? Uh-huh. >> I'm going to take these handcuffs off you. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. >> You know what's going on? >> So, we got a call for theft. Okay. Obviously, >> for what? >> Stop. Okay. Turn up. >> Okay. >> I just got to take the handcuffs off because >> I wouldn't do no shot. >> Okay. Good. Good. That's what I want to hear. >> Tell me why. >> They said to brush your rice. >> Tell me why. I just act ter by your girl. >> We just checking we checking checking your running. >> You're good. You're good. >> You have a driver's license. >> Yeah, I got a driver's license. Okay. Was that her purse? So, you might have left it all. >> Yeah. Oh, [ __ ] >> Good. >> The sun you want. >> You want to sit? >> No. >> No. I got a honey or something. >> Gotcha. >> You'all want to sit in the car? >> Oh. >> Oh, okay. Or if you want to stand over there in the shade. Yeah. >> Let's go stand. Yeah. We're not burning up. >> Better. >> Yes. God. >> I wish the ceiling went so high. >> There you go. You just chill right here. >> So low. I sit my butt. >> Oh, this is better for both of us. >> I know, right? >> All right. So, listen. Right now, I'm just going to read you your veranda, right? So that way I can get your side of the story. Okay. >> So, I mean, I'm not ready. >> No, right now you're just being detained. >> Oh, okay. I ain't take nothing out that door. >> All right, cool. So before you say anything, let me read you your rights and we can talk. All right. >> All right. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> All right. >> Anything you say may be used against you in court. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> All right. So you said to >> All right. So tell me what's going on. >> I came to get me some I came to get me some drink. station. >> She explains she put clothing she wanted to return inside a bag and insists she didn't leave the store with it because security took it from her hand near the greeters by the exit. >> Um I I had a bag. It's a bag in there that I did not pay for, but I forgot the little thing. >> So, you came to the store to get you >> drinks? >> To get some drinks. You said that it's a bag. What kind of bag? >> It's a bag. I was going to return some stuff. a green outfit. I just wanted to go. >> So, you say you you have a bag outfit that I was going to return that's in there and then I got me some drinks. >> Police clarify that she passed all points of sale, meaning it qualifies as theft. She admits she has no receipts for the clothes she claimed she was returning. >> As far as the bag, you picked up the bag and and you were putting the outfits inside. >> I put the outfit inside of the bag, >> right? >> Yeah. You say you didn't pay for the bag? >> No. >> Okay. Is there anything else that you didn't pay for? >> Everything else I pay for is in the car. >> Okay. >> And I didn't take the bag. Even the bag is still in the store. I didn't even take back. I just took the item that I paid for. >> Okay. So, as far as the bag, when you were walking out, did you What happened? You just dropped it. Someone took it for you. >> The lady my hand >> through the the security officer. >> Yeah. She snatched up my hand >> and so I just walked out the store. That's it. So, I didn't leave out with it. >> Okay. And inside the bag took the phone. >> Got you. And inside the bag, you said you got items that you wanted to return? >> Yeah. >> Do you know how much the bag cost? >> No. >> No. So, the bag was the only thing that you took. >> I didn't take it because I didn't leave out the store with it. But that's the only thing that I had. >> Where where did she take it out of your hand? Where were you at? >> In the store. >> Where? Where in the store? Like the registers? >> Right. Like right right before you come out the store. Right before you come out the first door. >> What the where the greeters at? The people, you know, the person saying, "Hey, welcome to Walmart or whatever." >> Yeah. Right now. >> Okay. You you were at at there or you already passed it a little bit. >> No, I was right there where where they said welcome to our money. >> So you understand right there where the greeter's at. You got to pass all the registers and then that's that's passing all points of sale cuz where the greeters at is after the reg before you enter the store. So then >> she denies intent to steal but officers note Walmart staff want to trespass her and press charges. Right. >> So when you're talking to that person, you already passed all the registers. >> Is that when she grabbed your the bag? >> You didn't exit the store. You >> right. Right there. Right. Right. Right before right where the guy was at where you just said welcome to Walmart. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. So you put understand >> at that point you you already passed all points of sale. >> Okay. >> Because you already passed the registers, >> right? >> Right. >> And that was it. Just the bag. You said >> it was just about what? >> Just the bag. You didn't put nothing else in the bag? No. >> No. Just the clothes that you were going to return? >> Yeah. And you have receipts for all the clothes that you were going to return? >> I don't have any receipts. >> You don't got no receipts on you? >> Yeah. >> Can they just give me a trespasser warrant? >> Well, they do. Okay. >> Yeah. Just cuz I got the I'm sorry. >> All right. So, they got a trespasser on the video from her. So, when you came here, was it like was he intent to take that stuff? >> No, it wasn't intent to take it. I promise it wasn't. >> Officers prepare to arrest her, explaining her friend will be able to access her car. She is searched before being placed in the police vehicle. >> You forgot to pay for it. >> No, I didn't forget to pay for it. I put the stuff that I was going to return. The bag I >> So, what kind of bag was it? Was it a Walmart bag? >> No, it's not a Walmart bag. >> It's a different bag. >> Yeah, >> but it's Walmart stuff in that bag. >> Got you. I just got trying to understand. It's a bag that it's a that it's like a sunbag. >> Okay. From another store. >> From this store. I got the bag. I put my >> It's one of those bags you can buy. >> Yeah. >> Gotcha. Gotcha. One of the like the thicker ones. The better quality ones. >> So, we got to do more surgeries. >> Yeah. >> Are you going to a different doctor this time or >> different surgeon? >> I want I wonder if that's like some type of malpractice. >> It is. I've been across this right now. There go y'all blood. >> Yeah. He'll let you know. >> Bring his gloves on. >> Yeah. But not >> I'm going to jail. >> He said, "Yeah, I am." >> Do you want your Do you want your friend? >> It's not my choice. >> Do you want your friend to grab your stuff? >> Yeah. You're going to go to jail for stuff. >> So, they're going to they're going to they're going to trespass you and they want a fresh Police adjust her handcuffs to relieve discomfort and secure her safely with a seat belt inside the patrol car. >> So that's completely up to them. >> So can my friend get my car or something? >> Oh yeah, we'll get with her in a little bit. We're going to talk to my partners, but as of right now, >> yeah, your friend's going to have access to your car whenever you >> She'll have it. Vanisha, >> come in. Hey, we can walk. >> Just walk over here. >> Right there. That's the right other side. >> Passenger side. >> Just face the car. Do it for you. >> All right, ma'am. I'm going to go ahead and do a search for you. Okay. Just step back a little bit and separate your feet for me. >> All right. Is there anything that we still poke you? >> Just make sure there's nothing there. >> All right. She's good. >> You going in here? >> Yep. >> All right. Make sure there's nothing there. Good. Here. >> What's wrong? Cuffs? >> Yes. >> All right. Do me a favor. Look, I'm going to have you take your knees, face them that way, and face your cuffs towards me. You're good. You're good right now. I got you. That's good. That's good. Which one has this one? I got you. >> You got it. Just hold on. >> I got you. >> Which one is it? This one? >> Yeah. >> All right. Just pull tight so I could loosen it up for you. All right. >> Listen. Keep your hand behind your back. Let me just readjust it for you. Okay. >> Let me know if it hurts a little bit. I'm not trying to get have you in pain in my [Music] good. >> Yeah. >> All right. Come here. Space here. I'm going put your seat belt on. >> Oh, go to that side and you can't hit the >> Yeah, you're you're good with that. I'm not trying to trying to make you hurt. >> I can't get no cuffs in the front. >> And ask him if he wants to move this to the back. I'll ask >> down. Just leave the shield. >> Okay. The charge falls under retail theft since she passed all points of sale with unpaid merchandise, even if she claimed it was a mistake. Trying to excuse theft by calling it a mistake doesn't erase the fact that passing all points of sale is still shoplifting. Even small acts of dishonesty can lead to criminal charges, embarrassment, and a permanent record. What an unyielding shoplifter. The next shoplifter will react much more violently, so keep an eye out. Tell tell her tell her to stop resisting. Tell her if she cares about her child, tell her to stop resisting. >> On September 7th, 20123, patrolman Ryan Spar of the Eatontown Police Department responded to a call from a Target store regarding a shoplifting incident. When he arrived, he was met by an employee from the store's asset protection team, ready to explain what had happened. >> 540, I think. She has no ID. Um, that's it. Email. She only speaks Spanish, though. I don't speak Spanish. >> I don't I uh I have a guy in there that's translating for me. I uh obviously she didn't conceal it. She just put it in the car. >> Some of it she did. Yeah. All right. All right. Cool. So, that's her name, Mary Ling. Yeah. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> All right. >> The suspect was introduced to Officer Spar as Mary Ling, but without an ID and unable to speak a word of English, verifying her identity became a real challenge. >> She have an ID anywhere in the state. United States? >> No, she didn't have an ID. anywhere in the United States or just in Germany. >> Uh, let me >> It's at home. And >> what state is it? >> New Jersey. >> It's from New Jersey. >> Yeah, >> we'll find it. So she concealed some and put some in the cart. >> Yeah. So most of it was just was just in the cart. She just went around the registers, went over to Starbucks, bought a drink, and then just tried to walk. >> Yeah. So then I stopped her actually like almost on the sidewalk. >> The woman claimed she had a New Jersey ID but had conveniently left it at home. Still with a name and a state to work with the officers now had enough to verify her story. Whether she truly didn't speak or understand English was hard to determine. >> You just ask her if she has anything else on her from the store. Okay. From Target. >> Yep. >> Target. >> No. >> She says no. >> Does she have anything in her bag or in that bag that's sharp that's going to stick me or stab me or poke me or anything like that? I'll go see. >> She says no. Nothing sharp. >> She's under arrest. Okay. >> Okay. [Music] no tax. >> She says she's one week away or um you know from giving birth and she's pregnant. >> Okay. Well, if there's any medical emergencies or anything like that, we could take her over to the hospital and have her checked out by medical professionals, but there's no medical emergency right now. So, that doesn't play a factor in what's going on here. >> When the officer searched her bag, they discovered several unpaid items, including a breast pump and baby clothes. Sadly, instead of putting her child first, she chose deception. >> Stand up. >> Stand up. Let's go. Stand up. >> Come on. No. >> Can you make your way over to the target, please? >> Stand up. >> We're done for. >> One, two. >> Come on. Thank you. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> The quicker. The we go. The quicker. [Music] She said um if you could just charge her or you know give her a ticket to do it. No, >> we have to do it. >> Okay, let's go. >> She just keeps saying you want to pull what you said. What did you say? Do you want to pull the car a little? >> Like right up here. Tell Tell her Tell her to stop resisting. Tell her if she cares about her child, tell her to stop resisting cuz I'm we're really trying to be gentle here. [Applause] Come on. Let's go for it. Okay. >> She said she >> stand up. >> No. >> No. >> Come on. I'll come back. >> After being processed, officers uncovered the truth. She had given them a fake name all along. Her real identity was revealed as 25-year-old Maris Ernestina Velasquez. In order, she was again arrested for shoplifting roughly two weeks later at the very same target. Lying about your identity only makes a bad situation worse. Honesty could have spared her from even heavier consequences. But this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. >> Stop running right now. We're done. >> What the hell was that? >> We're done. What's the hose there? >> Get on the ground. Stop it. >> On 23rd April 2025, police initiated a pursuit of two female shoplifting suspects who sped away in a vehicle. >> Girls, ain't no 317. [Music] We're in a redundant truck going eastbound 95th Street. >> All right, coming up on 78th Avenue. Actually, turn south 78th Avenue. committed retail theft. Uh, I'm going back to figure it out. >> Can we figure out what they stole? >> Can we push them off eastbound 797 back? I got a video still going uh northbound 70 or 78th a approaching uh the park over there. I'm just following. I'm not even pursuing. Well, it's going to go off the dead end again off of uh um 90th Street. >> The chase ends in a dead end where the suspects abandon the car and flee on foot. Was anybody six? >> Get out of the car. >> Got a female took off uh southbound from here. >> Yeah. Affirmative. What's she wearing? What's she >> officers establish a perimeter and quickly track one of the women hiding near a garage. She bolts again, ignoring repeated commands. >> Heading that way now. >> What was she wearing? >> Wearing dark clothing. Start setting up the perimeter. What started as a chaotic flight was now about to become a second arrest. >> Got him. >> No, not that. Not this guy. >> This guy. And then he hopped in the car and took off. But at least I got his tag number and everything. >> Yep. >> Wonder where this guy went. He's a big guy. Um, [Music] >> no. That would be a ticket. Charges stack up. The red shirt suspect faces felony theft and resisting or obstructing without violence arrest. The total bond is $3,500. However, a third male suspect in a blue shirt successfully escapes and is still on the run. Remember not to be misled by sensational footage. Despite wild incidents like this, national crime data from early 25 shows overall crime rates at historic lows thanks to proactive law enforcement efforts. >> Turn around. >> Why are you doing that? >> Turn around. >> Why are you doing that? >> On July 23rd, 2023 in Washington, police were dispatched to a Costco to investigate a potential shoplifter who had reportedly threatened an employee with a gun. According to security camera footage, the 33year-old woman became agitated when asked to show her receipt before leaving the store. >> What did you do after she pointed at you? >> I backed off. I called my manager. She came over here. >> 2015 PC installed, too. >> So, yeah, she went over there and we saw him pull her out of the car um and take her down over there. So, >> I'm the one. >> Okay. Sir, you guys have like uh footage of the where it happened? >> Should Yes. >> Okay. >> Say this. It happened right in front of this camera. So, down. >> Where where where in the parking lot was it? >> Right here is when she approached me right when she waved in my face. >> She loaded her car up right there in the first stall >> where the key is. Yeah. Perfect. >> That's when I went to her find out what was going on and >> Okay. >> Yeah. She went off on him and I was just stand uh he's got so I was just standing nearby just to protect him. >> Okay. Come in there to look at the video footage with you. >> I can stay with him. >> Okay. I'm going to go in there and take the video footage with him. You want to take a statement? >> Yeah. Just Yeah. >> Yeah. She pointed the gun at you. Correct. >> Yeah. He He saw it in her basket at the only point. >> After reviewing the footage and identifying the suspect as a woman named Bianca, officers quickly realized this wasn't your average shoplifting case. She drove a gray Mercedes-Benz, hardly the ride you'd expect from someone desperate for petty theft. It begged the question, why would someone who could afford a luxury car risk at all stealing from a discount store? >> Get out of the vehicle with your hands up >> to a high risk to the north of U-Haul. >> She is not being compliant. >> Exit the vehicle with your hands up. I don't have anything. >> Exit. Turn around and walk back towards me. >> I'm not being detained. >> Walk back towards me. >> Walk back towards me. >> I'm not here in the street. >> I'm not walking back. >> Who else is in that car? >> Nobody's in the car. >> Get on your knees. >> I'm not getting on my >> Get on your knees. >> You can come to me. I'm not >> Get on your knees right now. >> I'm not getting on my knees. >> Turn around then. >> I'm not doing that either. >> Turn around. >> I'm not doing that. >> I'm not here to hurt you. You can't feel my energy. I'm not here to hurt you. >> So, what's going to happen? Cuz you're not being non-compliant. You're going to get taken to the ground hard. >> Why? I'm not. Turn around and walk back towards me. >> I'm not doing that. I'm going to grab my phone. >> Keep your hands up now. >> I'm going to grab my phone. >> Turn around now. >> I'm not even being aggressive. >> Turn around. >> Why are you doing that? >> Turn around. >> Why are you doing that? >> As expected, Bianca wasn't exactly cooperative. Instead of following the officer's commands, she decided to do things her own way, forcing him to act quickly. During the struggle to detain her, his body cam was knocked off, but the audio kept rolling. In the background, you can clearly hear Bianca protesting her arrest, adding to the chaos of an already tense situation. >> On the ground, put your hands behind your back. >> Why did you have to do all that when I was just standing there talking to you? That's wild. >> Watch her. She's slipping it. >> I'm not flipping anything. >> Stop it. Stop trying to get your hand out. >> Why would I do that? >> Stop. Just take a deep breath, mother. Yo, >> everything's being >> I don't care about that. With the help of backup officers, Bianca was eventually brought under control and detained. However, she didn't go down without a fight. She kept resisting, twisting her arm in an attempt to slip out of the handcuffs, all while repeatedly claiming that the officers were hurting her. >> I'm going to be like this now because I've been tackled to the ground. I have a spinal cord injury and I just rolled my ankle. I'm in pain. >> So then relax your body for me then. >> Can you stand me up then? This is ridiculous. We got to fix the >> It's always right. It's so >> I know we keep trying to take your hand out the >> handcuffs. I need listen listen. If you take your hand out of handcuffs, you will get tased. Do you understand me? >> Do you understand what I'm saying? >> Do you understand what I'm saying? >> Do you understand what I'm saying? >> If you take your wrists out of your handcuffs, you will get tased. >> I can't take my hand. You were trying. I just tightened. >> I was not. I was turning my wrist. I'm just letting you know. You were turning it in the opposite direction because that's how it's supposed to be. >> Please, please, give me a second. Please give me a second. Please give me a second. Cuz y'all hurt my back. Yo, >> that's what I'm saying. >> No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. You're good. >> Oh my god. My back. Oh my god. >> Would you rather lay on your side? >> No. Or you rather go into a car? >> I want to get in my car and go home. Although the woman claimed she was in significant pain, she refused to cooperate with officers in any way that might have eased her discomfort and even turned down medical treatment when it was offered. What was truly remarkable though was her audacity to ask to be let go without any consequences despite clearly resisting arrest both physically and verbally. >> Resisting the entire time. >> No, I wasn't arrested any statements. Okay, >> you hear me? >> It wasn't entirely unreasonable for her to ask why she was being detained. After all, during their confrontation outside the car, the officer never clearly stated the reason. Most likely, he avoided mentioning the shoplifting at that point because they couldn't be 100% sure they had the right suspect just yet. >> Let's actually We need to search her. >> Go ahead. >> Okay. Can you face the swag? >> What do you want me to do? >> Face the swag. piece of widen your stance for us. There you go. >> You have anything in your bra? You have anything in your bra? Do you have anything in your bra? >> Don't touch my my stones. You're touching my stones. >> I'm removing your stones. I'm not touching them. >> No, you don't you don't have to remove them to search. I do remove. >> You're going to be booked into jail and they won't let you have them. >> That's crazy. >> Everything will go with you, though. >> That's crazy. My >> I have dogs at the house. >> I have dogs. I have animals. I have animals. I have food in my car. uh for no reason. >> Once again, the woman played the victim trying to guilt the officers for arresting her by bringing up other obligations she supposedly had. But her narrative of being an innocent bystander quickly fell apart, especially when the Costco manager, the very person who called the cops, clearly stated otherwise. In >> the car, at that point, she told me to get the back, you know, get the f back. Um that I didn't bow down to her when I was approaching her and that she knows the truth. At that point, I told her that I was there to help her, and she still told me to get the f back. And that was when she pulled out a gun and set it on top of the car. And at that point, I called the police. >> Did she shoplift or not? >> So, there's >> no she she bought her stuff, but she was upset because she didn't want to show her receipt, which everybody had. Bianca managed to escalate what could have been a simple shoplifting investigation one she might not have even been guilty of into a full-blown assault case complete with additional charges for obstructing justice. Despite it all, she continues to claim innocence while completely disregarding the fear and trauma she caused the Costco employees during the incident. >> Here's your name. >> You tried to pull your hand out of your handcuffs. We can't let you do that. >> No, I didn't. Why are you lying? You can't listen. >> Everything's on video. You can't tell me what I was trying and not trying to do. >> And then you're stepping on my toes. >> Oh, I love you. I love you. >> Okay, get in. >> I love you. God don't like ugly. God don't like ugly. >> Swing your feet in. >> God don't like ugly. >> God don't like ugly. Yahweh don't like >> If God doesn't like ugly, he definitely wouldn't be a fan of Bianca's attitude toward the officers. From the start, she escalated the situation far beyond what it needed to be. so focused on defending her innocence, she didn't seem to realize her or care that the officers had already reviewed the security footage and knew exactly what had happened. >> It's in a holster. It looks like it's in a holster. >> It's But still, it doesn't matter. >> I can't even >> cuz she didn't even see. She did like a David Copperfield. >> Bianca was ultimately prosecuted for a single felony count of assault with a firearm, though the charge had the potential to be downgraded to a misdemeanor. Body cam footage confirmed that while she did unholster her gun, she never actually aimed it at the employee. Under Washington state law, it's illegal to brandish a weapon in public. But because Bianca used it solely as a means of intimidation without pointing it or causing physical harm, she avoided the more serious felony charge. Denying the truth won't change the evidence, especially when it's caught on camera. A bad attitude only makes a bad situation worse. What an unyielding shoplitter. The next one will react much more violently, so keep an eye
