The adrenaline. >> All right, take a seat. I'll let you talk to Elijah right now. >> Hey, that blood on your mouth, was it him that did it or what happened? >> No. >> Was it What? Why? Why is there like blood here? What What happened there? >> I I'm I just want to know. >> When I hit the pole, the airbag deployed. Okay. >> So, it's from the airbag? >> Yeah, the airbag hit me in my face. >> Okay. It's cuz when I um I tried to move uh there was a box and I swerved around it and I ended up hitting the pole and the I I don't know the pole deployed my airbags on me I guess. >> Okay. Which way were you guys going? Were you guys going up to us or down? >> Going up. Yeah, down. Yeah. >> So towards Valley. >> Okay. So you guys hit the pole and then like spun out >> I think. So um it's cuz I was trying to avoid it. I don't know if it was a cat or a box cuz I didn't have my glasses on, but it was a cat or a box that was in the middle of the road. When I swerved, I fall. >> Okay. All right. Give me a second. >> She's saying that cuz I know uh she had uh blood. >> I know. But she's saying that it's from the airbag >> supposedly that when they hit it when she hit cuz she's claiming she was that she hit the pole and then I guess they spun out the airbag support and >> the violent ambush failed to help the couple escape and instead turned a standard traffic accident into a high stakes felony case. After being brought under control at Taser Point, both suspects were taken into custody. Investigators later confirmed the driver was operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol level well over the legal limit for turning a hit-and- run into a physical attack on law enforcement. The pair was hit with a mountain of charges, including aggravated battery on a peace officer, DWI, and leaving the scene of an accident and finally resisting arrest. While the adult female was booked into the county detention center, the juvenile male was released to the custody of his mother to await trial.
