When you talk about GTA style police chases, the closest you'll ever get in real life is Arkansas. We all know how those chases go. Reckless drivers versus relentless troopers. And this one was no exception. A black Dodge Charger with expired tags was spotted. And when troopers tried to stop him, he took off. All during rush hour. Buckle in. This one's a wild ride. exit 147 candle driver Got that candle. All right. until Gan drove past the wood line driver to intercept the phone. >> The trooper quickly realized who they were dealing with. This suspect was pure danger on wheels. For a moment, even calling off the chase crossed his mind. But giving up isn't something Arkansas troopers do. The suspect was all over the road, making it nearly impossible to close the distance. But the trooper stayed patient, knowing one mistake was all it would take to end it. >> Slowing down now. temporary emergency candle. That's you going. We're going across the bridge on Fair Park across 6:30. That little rock unit just slid over. >> Even though the trooper was now right on the suspect's tail, a pit wasn't possible just yet. But the progress was clear. Every second he was getting closer. The suspect started to lose patience trying to shake him off. But no matter where he turned, the trooper stayed locked in, not giving him an inch of space. >> Traide take a left. All right, we just have the DVI. guy in a building. Get on the ground. >> Got full running. >> After the pit, all the suspects bailed. Or at least that's what the trooper thought. But one guy stayed behind, waiting for the perfect moment. As troopers chased his friends, he quietly slipped out and ran the other way. In the end, every suspect was tracked down and arrested, facing a long list of charges, bringing this wild Arkansas chase to a dramatic end. Just after midnight on December 31st, 2023, in Lee County, Florida, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper clocked a black Dodge Charger, tearing through SR82 at nearly 120 mph, slicing through intersections like they didn't exist. It was the kind of danger FHP troopers face every night, and this one was about to push it to the limit. The Charger flew down SR82 running red lights and blackout driving to escape. The trooper hit 140 just to keep up. The driver weaved through traffic, crossed medians, and even drove the wrong way, head-on toward other cars. Heat. Heat. As the chase went on, the danger kept escalating. The driver crossed the median, sped into oncoming lanes, then whipped a Uturn back across traffic. At that point, the trooper knew this wasn't just a chase anymore. He had to lock in, stay sharp, and shift into a higher gear because that was the only way to stop this suspect. Heat. Heat. Let us see your hands. Let us here now. >> The charger lost control and spun out. The trooper turned to the right and rammed the charger, sending it spinning across the median until it came to a stop. Inside were four suspects, all from Cape Coral. One of them trying to climb into the back seat, pretending he wasn't the driver. Troopers held all occupants at gunpoint until backup arrived. The driver was identified as Edward Ray Jr., a convicted felon wearing an ankle monitor from a previous release. A search of the charger revealed 16 g of marijuana, and more evidence tying Ry to an active gun-related case in Lee County. He was arrested and charged with fleeing at high speed, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, and recklessly endangering his passengers. On February 21st, 2023, Conway police were chasing a black Dodge Charger eastbound on Interstate 40. As the chase neared Crystal Hill, Arkansas's state trooper Carrie Periner took over as primary, but when her lights and sirens failed, another trooper moved in. Speeds hit 120 mph as the suspect weaved through traffic and even used the shoulder to pass vehicles. Come on. >> Going 40 west. >> 40 west. >> Uh 40 east. 40 east. Passing on my shoulder. About to get on board. Trying to take the on ramp. The chase quickly spiraled out of control. Even with multiple units involved, the suspect kept creating chaos on the interstate. Moments later, another trooper moved in and took over as the primary unit. There's something like going to be secondary 40 Approaching JFK speed 112. When the Charger exited toward JFK, the trooper seized the moment, performing a flawless pit maneuver right in front of the old North Little Rock Police Department. We're going to take JFK. Take JFK. The driver identified as Cory Simmons bailed out and ran, but a short-foot chase ended with him in handcuffs. After resisting arrest, one quick strike was all it took for him to comply. Simmons was medically cleared and taken into custody. On May 14th, 2022, Arkansas state troopers were in pursuit of a black Dodge Charger. What started as simple speeding on the interstate quickly turned into a high-speed chase. Troopers were struggling to keep up until one name came over the radio, trooper Jacob Bird. And when he joined the chase, everything changed. Victor Lincoln had link with the charger 30 eastbound 37 was not also how did you get right Eastbound coming up to the river bridge in the leftly 97 mph. >> Leftway 97 mph bridge. >> Going up to the river bridge. >> As the chase continued, the Charger pushed to extreme speeds, nearly colliding with multiple vehicles along the way. But when the suspect took the exit, Trooper Bird made his move, determined to end it before anyone innocent got hurt. >> Sorry. >> Put your hands up. Put your hands up. >> My hands up. Hands up. My hands up. Stop. My hands up. >> Be quiet. >> Okay. >> Be quiet. >> Okay. Climb out of the car right now. Let's go. Climb out. >> I can't get out. No. I got to let the window down. Climb out. >> Come on. Climb out. >> Climb out, >> sir. Climb out. I can't get out. >> Get out of the car. Let's go. Come on. >> Out. >> The suspect was pulled from the charger and arrested along with the passenger. both taken into custody without further incident. Many people might want to meet Trooper Jacob Bird in person, but this suspect actually got the chance. Let's just say Bird probably made sure he'll never forget that meeting on August 2nd, 2024 in Miller County, Arkansas. A trooper was parked near Interstate 49, monitoring traffic when he suddenly spotted a white Dodge Charger blasting down the highway at over 120 mph, recklessly passing cars on the shoulder. At first, it looked like just another reckless driver. But the second the trooper hit his lights, the Charger took off, flooring it and turning the situation into a high-speed pursuit that would soon cross state lines. Hey, Louisiana 670 George. Show me 1037. Heat. Heat. Within seconds, the suspect began weaving through traffic at extreme speeds with zero regard for human life. Each time the trooper got close enough to attempt a TVI, the suspect would slam on his brakes or swerve violently, forcing the trooper to back off to avoid a deadly collision. 10:38 at the 13. >> Back on the road. 49 southbound at the 13. 225 still southbound. Get back on the 49. The suspect kept dodging every attempt to stop him, swerving, breaking, and weaving through traffic at insane speeds. Moments later, he took an exit, blew through an intersection, and jumped right back onto the interstate. But no matter how hard he tried to get away, the trooper stayed locked on his tail, waiting for that one perfect moment to bring this chase to an end. Well, well, well, well, >> 1038. He's still southbound. I have 1038. >> Near the onem marker, trooper executed a pit maneuver, but it was unsuccessful. Fearing a fatal impact, the trooper swerved off the road and lost control, sliding into the grassy median at nearly 100 mph. While the trooper was recovering on the side of the road, Louisiana deputies picked up radio chatter. The same white Dodge Charger had crashed out in Rodessa, two people were taken into custody. The driver identified as Xavier Javuan Wright matched the description perfectly. He was arrested on multiple felony charges, including fleeing by vehicle with substantial risk, aggravated assault, and battery secondderee on law enforcement. It was late at night southbound on Stanton Road near Baseline when Little Rock police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. The driver had no intention of stopping and the chase was quickly getting out of control. At 11:21 p.m., Arkansas State Police joined in. >> When you're out 37, we're approaching baseline now. State primary on baseline. TBI TV behind the Miller girl. >> And that's the kind of effort Arkansas State Troopers put in to chase down a suspect. Just seconds after taking over his primary, the trooper went all in, executing a pit and bringing the stolen vehicle to a stop. The suspect jumped out and tried to run, but his escape didn't last long. The driver, identified as Jabron Lewis, didn't make it far, and he now faces several charges. Theft by receiving, recovery of stolen vehicle failure to stop after accident with injury or death, criminal mischief, and fleeing in Foresight County, Georgia on April 12th, 2021. A citizen's call about a reckless driver tossing a suspicious bag out the window would soon uncover something much bigger. Deputies put out a bolo for a black Dodge Charger, possibly linked to a string of thefts in the area. Minutes later, they spotted the vehicle. Four males inside, all wearing hoodies and ski masks in 80° weather. Deputies followed the Charger into a parking lot, preparing for what should have been a simple stop. But as soon as they approached, the suspects jumped back into the car and took off. >> It's taking off. >> 3534 radio. We're single 12 with it. Just based on the 39. The chase raced through local roads until deputies performed a pit maneuver, bringing the car to a stop. Even then, the suspects refused to get out, forcing deputies to issue multiple commands before finally taking all four into custody. >> Ready? Are we trying to pin them? Get us more units, please. >> Can you see? Can you see? Stay right there. Stay right there. Stay right there. >> Hands right here on the dash. Hands on the dash. Right there. >> Keep him right there. Bring him out. Bring him out. Bring him out. >> Get out. Hands behind your back. >> When they searched the vehicle, what they found told the real story. Two Glock 17, one with a high-capacity drum magazine, raw marijuana, fake IDs, and ski masks. The driver, Kushon Hawkins, and two passengers, Javon Shered and Cantrail Hawkins, were all from Chicago, each carrying felony records for violent crimes. They're now facing multiple new charges, from felony fleeing and forgery to firearm possession by convicted felons. [snorts] It was just past 3:00 a.m. on April 26th, 2025 in Little Rock, Arkansas. An Arkansas state trooper patrolling Interstate 30 spotted a white Dodge Charger flying down the highway at over 100 mph, weaving recklessly between lanes. What should have been a simple traffic stop was about to turn into a drunken, chaotic mess that didn't end on the highway. It ended in a hospital room.
