Why? >> At first there was nothing to suggest how serious this call would become. What initially seemed manageable [music] slowly revealed itself as something far more dangerous. >> To the who? like Lieutenant Cogna >> investigation based on my observations yesterday. >> This is when hero cops realized this dangerous home isn't what it appears to be. Here is law zone where features real police body cam footage documenting how officers handle tense and unpredictable situations as they happen. The first incident is that police rescue teen girl from her extremely toxic mother. >> And she just starts swinging me by the hair of my head. And then she says I hit her first, but I didn't. >> Yeah, I got in her face. I sure did. I have a right to be in her face. She's a minor. Well, she needs to go to jail. [music] >> On January 29th, officers are dispatched following a report of a parent allegedly assaulting her daughter while the family prepares to vacate the residence. He's a lazy disrespect. That's what's wrong with these kids. They can just we get him to fix it, right? >> So, I was She woke me up to go um said that we had to be out soon, okay, >> to start packing. So, I start getting my stuff and she's in there calling me lazy, you know, going off or whatever. I'm like, "You're the reason why we're getting evicted. This is all your fault. Why are you all right?" >> So, then she starts getting in my face, like real in my face. And then she's like pushing up on me. So, I pushed her off of me and then she grabs me by the hair of my head and she just starts swinging me by the hair of my head and then she says I hit her first but I didn't. And she hit me in the eye and she hit me on the side of my face and then as you can tell by my hair, she was swinging me around by my hair and I'm 17 years old. I get like whoopins and stuff, but that's not a whoopin. You full on put your hands on me. just a whole bunch more arguing and then what after I called she want to try to swing on me again and then my brother got in between us and then she tried to grab me by my hair again before y'all got here like she's ridiculous. >> Who else is in the house? >> Just my brother and someone helping us out. >> How was your brother? >> Um >> officers speak with the mother who acknowledges verbal confrontation and close physical contact but denies striking the minor. >> Okay, do me a favor. Stay out here for me. Is she inside? >> Yeah. >> What's your mama's name? >> Natasha. >> Natasha. >> Okay. Come here. Thank you. Mom, >> come here. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> How are you? >> I've been a lot better. >> I got you. What's going on? >> She's a disrespectful little mother. That's what cuz somebody asked her help. Think she can stop sound anybody way. >> So that that's what's that's what's wrong. >> Let's start from the beginning. >> I woke her up cuz we got to be out of here by 1:00 today. >> Mhm. Go look at her bedroom. I woke her up to help. She don't want to help. So, she wants to start screaming, cussing me, calling me name. So, yeah, I got in her face. >> Officers observe visible marks on the minor's face and compare [snorts] statements noting inconsistencies between accounts. >> I sure did. I have a right to be in her face. She's a minor. >> So, then she wants to push and swing on me. So, yeah. >> Okay. Did you hit her? >> 127 1081. >> No, I didn't get her. She ain't got no She needs to be hit. Did she hit you? >> She tried to, but she wasn't able to. She She's not. >> Where's she trying to hit you at? >> She's trying to hit me in my face. >> Okay. No marks on you or anything? >> No, she didn't hit me, but she tried. >> You got your ID on you? >> Uh, no, I don't. It's in the car somewhere. I mean, my house is apart. I don't know where nothing is. >> What's your name? >> Natasha D. >> All right. So, you're saying there's no physical contact whatsoever? >> No. I mean, she tried, but >> Officers question the mother further about physical actions while she continues to deny causing the observed injuries. >> You didn't actually hit me. >> You going to hurt? >> No. I should have though. I should have. I should have. >> Yeah. >> You can't even get through here right now. >> You know what the mark is on her left cheek? >> No, I I I haven't hit her. I I'll tell you if I did. I mean, >> yeah. Just the problem is she's we're hearing something else and she's got a mark right here on her eye and then a mark on her cheek as well. >> Well, she deserves one. She deserves one. But no, I didn't hit her. I mean, I >> see see your hand there. >> I mean, that's for moving. That's scratches for moving. I mean, it's >> Yeah, she don't want to help doit. I mean, >> and you're saying you got in her face and >> Yeah. I mean, I'm yelling at her cuz she's cussing and carrying on. You know what I'm saying? Officers clarify the sequence of events, including a sibling intervening to separate the two during the confrontation. >> This ain't just my You know what I'm saying? Like, >> I mean, it's ridiculous. I mean, I've been over here slave driving for 3 days while she's laid in the bed doing nothing. >> Where does this situation turn? Y'all's in each other's face, whatnot, and then >> she shoves me and tries to swing at me. >> So, how does she try and shove you? Like, >> she don't try. She does shove me. >> Okay. How does she do that? >> What do you mean? Like show like show me >> like she showed me. >> So two hands. >> Yeah. >> So she swings at then what happens? >> Then my son gets in between it. >> Yeah. Break. >> Okay. Was that successful? You able to break them apart? >> So it first happened and then y'all broke apart or what? >> They broke up. They started arguing again. >> After assessing statements and visible injuries. Officers informed the mother she will be taken into custody. >> But they didn't start fighting again. >> Okay. >> Moving out pretty quick, huh? >> Yeah. I mean, the Georgia only gives you seven damn days. So, [music] >> what's the deal with the eviction? >> I failed to pay. >> How come? >> I mean, I lost my job two months ago because of my youngest daughter. >> Yeah. >> Getting in juvenile and I had it took it took me a week to get her out. All that good. >> Oh my god. I don't have time for this. [snorts] >> Hey, just till we get done. If you just stay right there. >> Can I grab a jacket? >> Can you give me just a second? There's got to be two. >> I can drop one for her. >> Yeah. >> Grab my phone, too, cuz this is [ __ ] Like we got we ain't got time, man. She needs she needs just to go around me. >> We got to be out of here and show this dumb ass. I should have busted in her. What's wrong with kids these damn days? This right here. >> You know, you just gave your whole spill, but you got to give me a another quick version, right? >> Okay. So, she came in there this morning like a couple different times telling me to get up and that we have to be out soon. And I was pretty much like, I'm just getting my room because it is all your fault. Every the whole reason why we're getting evicted, all the reasons are your fault, so you figure it out. >> Well, I'm in there getting my stuff together and she comes in there to help me take my bed apart. I didn't need to help me. She came in there anyways. I don't know why she argued she was in a bad mood, so she should have just left me alone. So, um, she came in there and then while she's taking down the bed and stuff, she's complaining and and, you know, she's calling me lazy and all types of other [ __ ] and I pretty much told her I was like, "This is all your fault. Like, everything to do with this is your fault. Like, I don't know how I can explain this to you any other way. Like, you cannot complain. This is all your fault." And so she starts getting in my face and and like she's like chest bumping me like like not like pushing me like that but like pushing me with her chest and like up against the wall. And um I just kept on yelling at her, "Get out of my face. Get out of my face. Get out of my face over and over again." And she just wouldn't. She just kept on pushing me with her chest. So I pushed her off of me and then um she just kept on going and kept on getting in my face and she grabbed me by my hand and that's when I guess she started like swinging me by my hair right here. and he already took a picture and stuff. Ed, my brother, he tried to separate it, stepped in between us and I had her by >> her hair or her shirt or whatever I had and tried to separate us and then she start she cuz like she could only hit me through this way and like this was my only open free hand cuz Ed had like this hand blocked and her hand on that side which would have been her left hand was blocked. cuz she had a right hand and she was had me by here with my hand and started swinging and like punched me on the side of my face and the other dude came in there and broke it up and then she kept on going and kept on going. I was like I'm just going to call the dogs. She was like, "Call him. Call him." >> So she had >> Officers arrest the mother, explain the charge, provide the minor with victim resources, and confirm temporary housing arrangements with a relative. >> Yeah. >> All right, Natasha. Here's the deal. Here we go jail day. >> That's great. >> She's got marks on her. Her scalp's red. So, everything's just kind of cooperating from what she's saying. >> All right. Not saying I don't believe you, but >> Well, she needs to go to jail. I mean, all this over her and because she's a lazy, disrespect. That's what's wrong with these kids. They can just talk to adults any kind of way and nothing's done about it. How many times have they been called about them and they're disrespectful? Oh, we'll just make a juvenile report. We'll just make a juvenile report. Well, then when somebody does put their hands on them, they go to jail. It's ridiculous. Which I didn't put my hands on her, but I should have. Next time I will, Ed, >> just everything. >> We're losing everything cuz we got to go to I got to go to jail because your dumb [ __ ] disrespectful sister. >> So, that's good for my son and everything, right? That we losing all this. >> There's not much I can do right now. >> There's not much you can do about it right now because she's aing liar. Where's my mom at? Can I go talk to my mom real quick? >> I just got to put you in handcuffs for her. Okay, >> here's my phone and my keys. Ed, >> here. Let me get those to you. >> No, no. Just Just Ed, get what you can get and everything else. This goddamn [ __ ] ass got me [ __ ] mad. So, I have to jail because she's a disrespectful [ __ ] Next time I promise to god I daylight out of her, I will make sure I get locked up for you. She ain't getting nothing out of this house. We have to lose everything to cut to her. She can lose her, too. >> 10.95. >> No. I hope you're happy. Come get this stuff out of my pocket. >> Yeah. >> I don't know. She ain't getting out of here. Should we lose all our stuff? She can lose hers, too. >> I'll make sure all your stuff I'll have. >> No, you don't. You got seven days. >> Stop arguing. That's how smart you are, smart one. Next time I'll be out of her and she's not getting her until is out. Just ignore. All right. >> Ignore. Ignore. It's easy to say ignore. >> You got anything else? >> I mean, you let your kid talk to you like that. >> You got anything else on? >> No, I don't. I don't guess so. >> I hope not. >> Ignore her. >> Watch your hands there. >> Do you ignore your kid? >> Well, I know you're frustrated, but >> No. I mean, do you do you let her talk to you like that? Well, she's not she's not old enough yet. >> Okay. Well, when she is. >> All right, dear. This right here, it's a victim's rights notification form. All right. It's resources and all that stuff. You want to read over that, you can. Um, you have any idea where you're going? >> Yeah, we're going to my phone's house. >> You know the address there? >> Um, I know the street. >> What's the street? >> Oh my god. Godamn ignorant [ __ ] >> Well, I want to press charges, too. I want to press charges. On who? >> On Tyler. She shoved me. That's assault. >> That's assault. You can't put your hands on somebody else. >> Look into it. >> The way this way. >> Oh, so I just went in there and just started beating on her for no reason. >> Hell, my son said what? We was tied up. So therefore, that means I was assaulted. Takes two to tango. >> Do you have any questions or anything? Do you have uh options for I mean y'all kind of go at it often, don't you? I mean, >> yeah, but it's never this bad normally. Like >> you just been arguing and stuff or >> like she'll like make like a smart comment every now and then, but like I just moved in with her like 5 minutes ago. >> Yeah. >> Get on your phone. >> Yeah, >> probably. Yeah, >> I got it. >> But I just moved on with her about like six, five months ago and like everything's been fine. Um, >> yeah, >> everything's been fine. And then I guess today like I guess she's stressed out and stuff, but like so are we. That don't mean you come in my room and take it out on me. >> Yeah. >> Like I didn't do anything to her. Like, yeah, I might have had an attitude when I said okay or something, but that doesn't mean you get up in my face and like beat the side in my face and >> then like you heard the [ __ ] she was saying after y'all arrested her like >> Yeah. >> Well, I mean what I've got for now, she's going to jail for battery family violence. >> I'm not sure if there'll be anything else on that. At least I know that for sure. Um, like I said, look over those resources. If you feel like you need to utilize any of them, go ahead and if you need us, call us. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Mhm. Did you step on that? >> Officers arrested the mother for battery related to family violence after observing visible injuries on the minor that aligned with her account of physical contact. Remember, domestic disturbance calls often require officers to rely on physical evidence alongside conflicting statements. When minors are involved, visible injuries and onseen observations play a central role in enforcement decisions. This is the reaction of netizens to this situation. That situation escalated very quickly under a lot of stress. Separation during interviews really matters in cases like this. You can see how officers focus on evidence, not arguments. Think this situation was already intense. The body cam catches a split-second decision that changes everything. Comment if you saw it coming. The next incident is when police save family from a doineering mother with zero limits. >> I can't leave her with the kids. You see how she's aggressive and my brother just said the baby had the vape in her mouth. So I got to go. >> He hit me. What did he SAY THAT I DID TO HIM? On January 1st, 2024, officers arrive after a neighbor reports a domestic disturbance involving a husband and wife with concerns about supervision and vaping devices being accessible in the home. >> Who? Like Cogn. She leave. >> She's in the shower. >> Whose SUV was that from? >> That was my brothers. He left. >> Oh, he Okay, he was here. So, what what's going on? We got a call from a neighbor. So she was hitting you. >> Yeah, she was hitting me on the head. And >> are you alleging an assault? >> I mean, I don't want her to go to jail. >> So, you're not alleging an assault? >> That's fine. >> I thought you were leaving. >> I mean, I did. I can't leave her with the kids. You see how she's aggressive and I am about to go to the manship, though. And she left her vape. The baby My brother just said the baby had the vape in her mouth. So, I got to go. So what? >> The last time I went, they said cuz the action wasn't in 24 hours, I couldn't get it. >> So what what are you looking for a protective order for? >> To keep her away from me. >> She's hit me, but I don't want her. >> Right. But if you go down there saying she hit you, then they're going to call us and everyone's taken out and everything. I mean, it's up to you what you do. I don't care. >> Officers locate the wife inside the home, instruct her to get dressed, and attempt to speak with her calmly. care. But I mean, if you want her arrested for a domestic assault, we'll do that. But if you're not alleging an assault, if you're not alleging an assault, >> all right. Yeah, you guys can arrest her. She did this one. >> Excuse me. What are you doing? >> She's a >> What are you doing? What are you doing? WHERE ARE YOU GOING? Where the do you think you're going? >> Ma'am, just get some clothes on. The wife repeatedly asks whether she is being arrested, states she was upset due to threats about losing the family, and denies assaulting her husband. >> What is going on right now? >> Just get some clothes on, please. >> Am I being arrested? >> Go get some clothes on. >> I'm sorry. I >> I don't want to talk to you while you're standing in the hall naked. >> I'm sorry. He keeps threatening me, saying that he's going to take the kids from me. That's why I freaked out like I did. I'm sorry. >> Just get some clothes on. I'm sorry. He keeps saying, "I'm going to take the kids from you. I'm going to take the kids from you." And I just had calm down. And I took a shower and I was like, "Okay, >> go get dried off. Go get dressed. >> Am I being arrested? >> Go get some clothes on. >> Can you just be honest with me? >> I didn't do anything to it. >> Can you just tell me if I'm going to be arrested or not? >> Go get some clothes on. >> Am I going to be arrested?" >> I'm not talking to you while you're in a towel. Go get some clothes on. >> What you told? That means I'm going to be arrested, right? >> No, it just says they weren't going to talk. >> Officers confirm the presence of another minor in the home, advise the wife she is under arrest, and begin escorting her. >> Where's your Where's your other child? asleep. >> I ad ran in here and picked up. He keeps threatening to take her away from me and to take her out of the house and I was like, "Where are you going?" And then I walked out naked and the cops ran out and he keeps trying to say I'm hitting him and I'm doing all this stuff. Can you please talk to them? I got so many clothes on. So, I don't know what's going on. He's abusing me so he wants me to go to jail so bad and I'm >> I don't know what's going on. Can Can you talk to my dad, please? Am I Are you arresting me? >> YES. >> WHY? WHY? DAD, THEY'RE ARRESTING ME. CAN I PLEASE go next door and get the rest of myself? NO. DAD, [screaming] they're arresting. During the arrest process, the wife asks to retrieve personal items and prescribed medication, which officers decline at that moment. >> He hit me. Hold on. HE HIT ME ON MY LEG RIGHT HERE. I swear he hit me. Oh my. Oh my god. Oh my god. No. Can I please go take my methodone medication? It's next door. Please, I'm on methadone. Please, my doctor, please. Please. >> Where are your shoes? [screaming] >> Oh my god. >> Where are your shoes? >> I don't have something. Oh. Oh my god. >> Stop. >> Why am I being arrested? >> Stop. >> What? Can you please bring Jose in here? Please. Can you please bring him in here? >> Please. Please. Please. >> Please. >> Oh my god. This is my neighbor's mom. >> Where are your shoes? >> Oh my god. Am I going to get your shoes? >> Why? They're back in the room. >> I mean, do you want to walk outside with no shoes on? >> No, they're in the room back here. I said, "Hold on. They could be in here." Sir, I have a question. Why? Can you please tell us to get my methyl medicine, please? Can you please >> I'm not letting you take anything for No, IT'S FOR THE FCCR. PLEASE download to get it for me, please. I'm going to be sick. Please. I've been taking it for 3 years. >> I don't know. It's [ __ ] I'm going to try to get away from you. He's in my bedroom. Can you please talk to Jose and ask me if he'll go next door and get my purse, please? Cuz I take medicine from FC. >> I can't We can't let you literally take the medication right the second. >> Officers state a third party witness reported seeing the wife strike her husband, reinforcing the arrest decision. >> Where are your shoes on the road? >> They might be right here. Can you tell me for Jose, please? You were not letting me talk to him. >> I didn't do anything to him. >> What did he say that I did to him? >> Shut up. >> Where are your shoes? >> I don't Can you walk back here with me, please? I don't understand. He has cases where he's been using me and I didn't even do >> You got a third party caller that said they saw you. >> There was no one. No, he didn't. His brother left. Remember when you were here? >> Are your shoes? >> His brother left. >> It wasn't that person that called in. >> There was nobody else that was here, sir. Where are your shoes? >> Sir, there was nobody else that was here. It was just me and Jose. There's Hold on. They're right here. >> Where? >> You're not going to keep yelling. >> I'm sorry. I'm sorry. But if you can watch these cameras, there was nobody else here. And I did not hit him. He doesn't have any marks on him, does he? >> Where are your shoes? >> Can I kiss my son goodbye, please? Just a kiss, please. Sir, >> do not wake him. I'm surprised you haven't already. All right. Come on. Bring your shoes. I knew he was going to do this to me. >> He's not the one that called. >> His brother was. >> His brother didn't call either, >> but nobody else saw anything. We were arguing. We were all inside. >> Last chance. Where are your shoes? >> I have no idea. Can you ask? >> Officers complete the arrest, instruct the wife to cooperate, and transport her to police headquarters. >> Stay where they are, please. I'm not going to argue with Jose. Can we just ask him? >> She says her neighbors. Can we go to my neighbors, please? >> No. >> No. >> Jose. Jose, can you get my shoes, please? Do you guys not know the case that's up against him? Jose, I need my shoes. Go get them. >> Oh, okay. Even though I'm ordered by a doctor to take methadone, I can't take it. >> Don't worry. Get in. >> Please >> get in. >> Am I going to be held overnight? >> I have no idea. >> If you kept acting the way you're acting, you will be. >> While in transit, the wife disputes the allegations, references prior conflicts, and officers explain she can address her concerns with the magistrate. >> Does he have a mark on him? Because [snorts] he doesn't. >> Listen to me. A neighbor called and said they witnessed you shut your mouth. >> Okay. >> Witnessed you hitting him. >> I asked him if he's alleging assault. He said yes. >> So earlier when I earlier when I came by and told you that he lucked at me and kept grabbing my vagina, you couldn't do anything about that. We had been inside the whole time and his brother just left. Can you tell him that my purse is next? >> Get the damn thing. >> What? >> I promise not to argue. Can I talk to him, please? >> No. >> So, when you came by, sir, and you I told you that it was grabbing my vagina and stuff, you didn't um you said there was nothing that could be done about that. >> No, you said you wanted a protective order, and I told you how to go obtain one, >> but I had no ride and I was going to go. That's why I was taking a shower. >> What do you want me to do about that? >> And then he knew I was going to do that. And that's why he said this, "Sir, I promise you, you can check our cameras. We haven't even been outside. >> You never told You never said he was grabbing your >> You said he wanted to have sex with you so you could shower, >> bud. And his brother just left and he's the one that called the police." >> No. >> You did not allege any assault at the time. No, I'm We're not doing this. >> Okay. Sir, can you please grab my phone so I can get my number? Sir, >> is that your phone or the neighbor's phone? >> It's my phone. I'm using it, but he's going to say it's not mine. Can you please grab that, please? >> Whose name is it in? >> Um, it's in Gillette. >> Who's Gillette? >> Janelle. Janelle. I'm sorry. >> Who's Janelle? >> Um, the lady let me borrow it. >> Who Who is that? >> Um, it's one of the ladies that lives up the street, but she's letting me borrow it cuz Jose has been um keeping me from any transportation or anything. And no phone calls, no, nothing. So, it's not even your phone. >> No, but she's letting me borrow it. >> I don't know that. All I have is you telling me that. >> Grab it, please, and give it. >> I'm not bringing it. >> Can you get my phone? Is there any way that you can watch the ring cameras and see that we were not outside? Please, >> if he allows me to. >> It is. It's on the front. You can watch the front right there. And he grabbed the phone. He's been using me for so long. Can you speak to Lieutenant um Cochna or whatever it is? >> Lieutenant who? like Lieutenant Cogna. I I can't think of his last name, but he's a lieutenant. And he said if I ever had any issues that I can say to speak to him, but I he doesn't have any marks on him. >> I don't know who that is. >> Lieutenant Gua or something. I don't know what David is, but I don't want him having that phone. Is there anything you can take it and just hold it for? >> I'm not taking possession of something that isn't yours and has no >> Can you go to the next door neighbors and and they've seen all the They've seen all the abuse all the done to me. I know it was his brother that called. So, we have a court case coming up February. >> Is he gonna get a protective order? >> I don't know. >> 1219.8 treating 12. >> Where are we going? >> Able to talk to the magistrate about the history as well as her. >> Come on. You can tell the magistrate whatever you want. >> Are you able to tell her that you were there earlier today? Oh, that's >> You want to put in my That's it. Okay. He doesn't want to restrain anymore. You said >> I have no idea. Come on. >> There we go. >> How many do you have? >> Like my son, he always takes it from me. Officers arrested the wife for a domestic assault after a third-party witness reported seeing physical contact and the husband confirmed he wished to pursue the allegation. Remember domestic calls rely heavily on witness statements and immediate allegations made at the scene. When multiple accounts conflict, officers document statements and defer broader disputes to the court process. This is the reaction of netzens to this situation. You can see how confusing these situations get for everyone involved. Third party witnesses really changed how this call ended. A lot of talking, but officers stayed focused on procedure. You think the officers were out of options here? Watch what happens next on the body cam and tell us if you would have done the same. The next incident is when police rescue child from extremely irresponsible mother. >> I guess you got to the kids. Hey, come on. >> Come on. >> Why am I going to jail? Oh, I'm losing my kids. >> I'm not going to get him back. And you guys don't understand. I'm not getting them back then. >> On December 9th, 2024, deputies escorted an adult female away from the residence and explained she is being detained and separated from the minors present. investigation based on my observations yesterday. Okay. >> Hey, >> hey, can I talk to you real quick? >> Am I in trouble? >> Well, no, but we need to have a talk. >> All right, let's come out here. Just following up with you. Alexi DJJ kept him last night. >> Yeah, >> they did. Okay. All right. And so, Alex and your three children that live here, right? >> Yeah, >> they do. Okay. >> Deputies inform the woman she is being taken into custody and move her out of view of the minors before explaining further. >> Your kids, I'm going to give you that respect. All right. Can I at least have my daughter bring me my phone so that way I can call somebody? >> What am I going to jail for? >> You're going to go to jail on four counts child abuse. >> Okay. And I'm going to explain it. >> I was cleaning last night. I literally was >> Well, [snorts] >> can I get shoes at least? >> We'll get everything for you. >> We'll get everything. Okay. All right. What's going to happen? I'm going to take you to the jail. >> Four four counts of felony child abuse. Okay. One, as a mother, you're supposed to provide adequate >> I was cleaning the house. Due to the unsafe environment, all six children were removed by child welfare authorities. >> What's that? No, you're good. Come on. >> I can't come inside. Officers returned to the residence to take the mother into custody. >> [snorts] >> Yeah, she's in here. Bagger. Police. Come to the front door. >> How you doing, dear? Hi. >> What's your name? >> Kimberly. >> Kimberly, is your husband home? Michael? >> No, he is at work still. >> Okay, Kimberly, go ahead. Step out for me. >> Okay. You're currently under arrest. >> What I do? >> Don't stick your head in. >> You have a warrant out for your arrest. >> For what? >> For child in danger. >> Put your hands together. Michael in the house. >> Okay, you don't care if we check the house. Make sure, Michael. >> The mother appeared confused and questioned the arrest while officers informed her she was being charged with child endangerment. Police confirmed the father was not home and requested permission to clear the residence for safety. >> Not in there. >> My mother-in-law's here. >> That's fine. We'll call her out before. >> Mhm. >> Hey, 16. You can come to the front door. >> Hey, ma'am. He was advised to cooperate, and arrangements were made for him to be taken into custody as well. >> All right, I'll be right back with you. >> He's at work. >> Okay, perfect. >> West's on the phone with him right now. Thank you, sir. We will probably have an officer meet you there to transport you to Summit County Jail. We appreciate your cooperation. >> Can I ask you a quick question real quick? >> Absolutely, sir. What's going on? >> Why do we have a warrant for arrest? >> Uh, for six counts of child endangering. >> Okay. >> During questioning, the mother admitted she knew the conditions were unacceptable, but claimed she was overwhelmed and lacked help. Officers emphasized that regardless of stress or circumstances, children cannot be left to live in filth and danger. We've been going through the CSB case for about uh since the beginning of January about the end of December, >> right? Well, the children's services case >> is completely separate from the criminal investigation. >> Huh? >> I said the children's services case is completely separate from the criminal investigation. >> You want grab her a pair of shoes? You're a stronger man than I >> I've already I see if I can slip these shoes on. >> No, you're good. You're good. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. I'll be in route to Mo and home to pick up another half. >> All right, J. I'm going to transfer over to my car over here. [snorts] Go take a seat. All right, here. Let me turn this light on. [snorts] All right, dear. What I'm going to do is your rights. All right. Cuz right now you are under arrest before I can talk to you. Okay. Having these rights in mind, you're willing to talk to me about why you're under arrest tonight? >> I need to know why I'm put. So, it's a six count of child endangering. I was actually uh the original officer that responded out here with children services when they were removed from the home. Do you remember me now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um I mean, do you understand why the children were removed from the home in the first place? >> Yes. >> I mean, how did how did how did it get that bad? How did how did the mess, the animals, the I mean, I'm going to be honest with you. That's the worst house that that day. That was the worst house I ever walked into. It's a little cleaner now. That's the worst house I ever walked into that had people living in it. How did How does it get like that? [snorts] >> I was the only one doing anything. >> Okay. So, you didn't have any help? >> Okay. >> He works too much, so I didn't have any help. >> Did you Did you at any point like look around the house and go, "This is a problem. These living conditions are not okay." Yeah, we finally got the basement fixed. >> Yeah. Well, I'm talking I mean the kids being removed. I know that was a wakeup call. Can we both agree that was kind of a wakeup call? But before that, did you ever look around and go, "Something here has to change. My children shouldn't live in this kind of filth right now." >> Yeah. >> Why Why didn't you change it, dear? Trying I mean, be honest with me here. And this is just do you when the children were removed from the home, do you think that was the right choice? >> Yes. >> You don't think that the living conditions were suitable? And you just I mean you would you say you were kind of at a loss of what to do with everything? >> Yeah. >> You're saying Mike? >> Police explained that the condition of the home crossed from neglect into criminal behavior leading to six counts of child endangerment. The mother was transported to jail to be booked and await arraignment. >> I wasn't helping you out. >> No, he works too much. >> I got you. >> He's still working, >> right? Is that is that your mom or is that his mom? >> That's his mom. >> That's his mom. Does she help out at all with the kids or anything? >> She watches the kids every now and then, >> but she's up in her 60s. >> I gotcha. All right, dear. Well, yeah. So, I mean, that's that's why you're being arrested. This the state of that home that the children were in. It rises to the level of criminality. The kids shouldn't have to suffer. All right. U there's going to be a uh prisoner wagon that's going to come. They're going to take you to the county. They'll book you in. You'll be arraigned tomorrow. That's where they're set bail and everything like that. >> Supposed to see the kids tomorrow. >> This [snorts] is all stuff that they can work with you and everything like that. That's what CSB is there for. All right, dear. The case concluded with all six children removed from the home. Both parents charged with six counts of child endangerment and authorities continuing oversight through child protective services and related investigations. Children rely entirely on adults for safety. Cleanliness and basic care and neglect can cause lasting harm. Feeling overwhelmed is not an excuse when a child's health and well-being are at risk. This is the reaction of nizens to this situation. Six kids forced to live in that filth while adults made excuses. This is absolutely heartbreaking and enraging. Those children didn't fail their parents. Their parents failed them in every possible way. If officers say it's the worst house they've ever seen, imagine what those kids lived with every single day.
